Hi Everyone,
I am experiencing a very odd situation every time when I send my Shift to sleep and than resume ( power plan is set to Max performance ). This is what happens :
1. Having connected to Wifi network, I initiate sleep.
2. When Shift is in sleep mode ( doesn't matter how long ), I resume. Wifi connection is not possible anymore, but Comm.manager still says Wifi is active (?? ).
3. I try to reboot. As soon as I try to start task manager, I get an "Application not responding" message. The application is "Microsoft windows" ??
4. Shift gets completely stuck, I have to force power off...
Any idea, anyone ??

I did a hard reset and didnt installed any new software: same problem.
I disabeled TouchFLO; same problem
Dose anybody have an idea that can help ?

Hi There,
same as you, it happens regularly that due to reconnection to wifi, the system freezes. I must take out the battery to restart the HD.
I can't reproduce your system freeze. Have you enabled the option to keep wifi alive while in stand-by mode? This can be done by HD Tweak (or Advanced Config).
For me it is disabled and it reconnects just fine after powering the device up again. Have you installed the HTC Hotfix(es) already? What Rom are you running?
Hi,
If I leave the WIFI on so no problem at all, when the system wake up after a sleep mode so the WIFI is OK, the problem occurs very often if I put OFF the WIFI before I go to sleep mode. If I leave the WIFI on so no problem.
Just a precision: when the problem happens after sleep mode sometimes it dosent freeze but the WIFI dosent go on, if I try many time to put wifi on it will end by freezing the system.
The hotfix is installed.
ROM version: 1.14.406.3(22273) FRE
somebody can help me with this wifi problem please ?

I would try to change or update the ROM to see if the
freezing goes away. If not, send it in to the service centre for diagnosis.
shame on HTC and shame on Expansys !
I've return back the HTC HD for diagnostics few days after I've received it because of the WIFI problem descrbed in the original post. Afetr 2 weeks I've received the phone with a notice"repaired under waranty", after quick test the problem still the same ! I've returened it back to Expansys-where I bought it- and I am stil waiting to be replaced !!! Imagine that: I've had the problem few days after I've bought the phone and I have never got to use it..now after 2 months I am still waiting for the phone..Expansys says it wa sent to HTC to be replaced..I've asked them to replace cause it is new, no answer from expansys...shame
I believe while I was having a different WIFI problem and came across this problem detailed somewhere on the HTC website... however I forget where.
Some googling and forum searching might do the trick!
Have you tried a different ROM perhaps?
Also maybe using HDTweak or AdvancedConfig you could change the wifi to always be on even when the phone is asleep; although this would completely drain the battery rather quickly it could be a useful stopgap until you find a solution!
Hello,
I have strange problem lately ... WiFi turns on by itself. When I manually turn it off ... after sometime (may be 30 minutes or hour, sometimes less) when I look at my HD I see that it started looking for WiFi Not only annoying message with list of WiFi access points pops up, but this also drain battery.
I did not install any WiFi or connectivity relates application lately. Also I did not accidentally press WiFi button to turn it on
This is driving me crazy !!! Need help
See if ActiveSync is also "on".
If so then the issue is probably ActiveSync trying to to a scheduled sync operation.
You can turn this off by setting up a dummy activesync account and then turning off the activesync scheduler.
Thanks for quick response. Nothing changed in my ActiveSync settings. ActiveSync scheduler says "Manually". I do not have dummy AS account, but never had problems with AS. I sync only when plugging HD into USB. Any ideas ?
Start the TASK MANAGER and go to "PROCESSES" post your running processes here... maybe there is a virus

Hello
Im in a dilemma right now. I absolutely love my touch hd so far but am at a crossroads. I need reliable push mail from my gmail account to my mobile... but so far reliability doesnt seem possible. Would appreciate any sort of guidance.
Im trying to have my gmail send all my mail to my thd device as quickly as possible. I cant afford to wait for it to arrive with a lag of say 10 minutes. It has to be as instantaneous as possible.
The problem with THD i find is that when the display is turned off, the data connection is also turned off. So the next sync only occurs when i turn on the display. When display is turned off... no emails. Ive tried tweakHD in an attempt to keep data connections always turned on, but no luck. Im not sure i set it right though.
Can reliable push mail be achieved on my thd? Should i move over to a blackberry device? (considering blackberry storm) Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
ian
Iangohye, the answer is yes...I had this issue for a long time before solved. The long and short of it is, at least for me, it was a power management problem. I needed my exchange mail, but as soon as I put the phone in standby, it would disconnect the data connection, and would not reconnect until I turned the screen back on. What would happen is, while in standby, my data connection would connect and then something would cause it to immediately disconnect. Some power saving feature. Try this first:
1) Go to programs->phone->menu->options. At the bottom of the screen you will see tabs. Tick the "data" tab and see if the box "disable data connections when device enters sleep mode" is checked. This was unchecked for me so clearly not the issue. Some people, for whatever reason, do not have this option. If you do, and it is not checked then see the next step below, if it is checked, uncheck it and see if that solves it for you.
2) To check whether there is a power saving feature within your power management causing the disconnect in standby go to settings->personal->sounds and notifications. Set a sound for data connection established and data connection disconnect. Set your mail to sync in an interval such as 5 minutes. Put your phone in stadnby (screen off). Once the screen is off, you should hear the data disconnect sound. After five minutes you should hear the data connection established sound and then immediately hear the data disconnect sound. If this is the case.....
3) Install Schaps Advaced Config. Tap his "Power Management" option. In the drop down options, disable all of the power management options and set "AC resuming from suspend" and battery resuming from suspend to 60. Soft reset. Establish a data connections, and put the phone in standby. If your data connection stays on, go through each of the power management options in adavanced config and enable or disable each until you find which one is responsible for leaving your data connection active. The reality is, there are only a couple of options there that cause it, but for the sake of confusion, I would go through them all. Also, for your purposes, I'm not sure whether setting AC and Battery resuming from suspend to 60 is necessary, but I do it anyway.
This is what solved it for me and I hope the same for you.
Hi Sean3
thanks for the help, ive done everything you told me to and it seems like its working as i hoped it would so far.

Blackberry works great.
I am trying to keep the Wi-FI on ALL THE TIME on the snap but it seems like it's disconnecting itself? Everytime this happens the windows live stops signing in and you have to switch windows live ID and log in again. It's a pain in the ass anyone else have a snap know how to keep wi-fi always on?
I went to the wifi power mode and I unchecked the "Auto turn off WLAN if no WLAN or user activities after LCD OFF over" I put power save mode to best battery. I want to be signed in overnight and not get booted?
bro
go to wlan setting
power mode and remove auto turn off tik.....
I changed battery to auto and it seemed to work.
The only problem now is windows messenger if there is a sudden disconnect from wifi, You have to re sync and sign in or else you get stuck on endless login screen.
ok good
sometime windoslive not working
idont why!!!just by wirless!!
Yes if WI-FI Disconnects you, and your msn logs off you need to restart device or Go to Windows Live>Menu>Account Options>Switch Account and log in again and it will work, It's a pain, but it's the only way I figured it out to work.
And with WiFi always on with Windows Live signed in your battery life is? Let me guess: 6 hours.
Thanks you all I had the same WLAN problem, I'll try to use these solutions.
Hi all!
Since i can't post in devs forum (I understand and obey forum rules) i'm going to post info about problems with ICS on my KF. Maybe someone will find a way to resolve some of them
So let's start:
1. When screen turns black automaticly (not by pressing power button), I mostly cant turn it on again. Just need to restart whole device.
2. Sometimes WiFi after waking up from sleep cant connect (trying to connect, but cant finish it positively). I need to manualy delete network setts, restart wifi, and configure it again to resolve problem.
3. Opera mobile freezes at start screen, but device is responding so can kill app.
4. Sometimes whem I'm using restart button from power menu, whem device is trying to close OS, it's getting stuck there, and needs to be turned off by pressing power button for 20s.
Thats all for now. Guys, keep up at great work are you doing!
PS. sorry for possible grammar erros in post, I'm not fluent in eng.
I had noticed the same thing as you have listed in item #1 so try this. Go into Settings > Display > Sleep options and (at least on mine) nothing was checked. Check one of the time options and it should be fine.
Can't help you on the other items but I think I've seen your item #4 issue. The power button menu is new and it might be a bug. Oh, and your english grammar is perfectly passable. Don't sweat it. Best of luck.
