I just hard-resetted my Mogul and now activesync will not detect it. Before I hard-reset active sync worked fine.
If I try to connect my mogul to my brother's computer, his activesync detects it perfectly fine.
I'm using a USB cord, any help?
try going to start-settings-connections tab-usb to pc and uncheck the box, then try to sync
That worked, thanks
What exactly is the USB to PC checkbox for? It just seems to screw things up without adding any functionality.
That did it
Thanks, I had the same issue. Just got my Mogul and couldn't figure out why XP wouldn't recognize it.
Thanks again!

I cannot seem to get my 8125 to sync with windows mobile device center in Vista. I have tried both bluetooth and usb cable, and I have turned off Windows Firewall.
When I connected it via the cable, the only thing that installed and appeared my device manager was a Smartphone USB Sync under mobile devices. I have read other people are getting a windows mobile device under portable devices, among other things.
When I try connecting via bluetooth, Activesync just does not show up when I pair my phone and my computer as a service.
Are there drivers I can get from somewhere, or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks!
You have to update the WMDC in vista inorder to sync. Had the same problem me self.. kinda crazy if u ask me eh...
I know it has been a long time but I have wmdc 6.1 and an 8125 with the most recent HTC cingular rom. How do I get bluetooth sync working? My activesync on my phone says that the service is not installed and I am kind of stuck there.
A ton of google searches have illicited no help. I figurd I would try here...
I am paired properly with the laptop as I am able to use the modem as DUN and get internet working with no problems. I cant seem to get the device center to recognize the phone for syncing my outlook with bluetooth.
Same boat
I am right there with you man. I have tried everything and still no joy. I am going to try and up date my bluetooth software and try it out. I'll let you know if it works for me.
I did it!!
Ok the key is to use the same Comm port in WMDC that the wizard uses. For example try to set up a bluetooth partnership with your PC via your wizard. When you see a popup on your desktop that you wizard is trying to connect make a not on which Comm port it is trying to use. (for me it was COM4.) from there go into your setting in WMDC and check the second box to allow the wizard to use differant ports. Select your port and click ok. You should be good to go. Let me know if that did or didn't work for you. Best of luck!
Last week I hard reset my 8525 after having it about 2 mos because it had stopped syncing (and could probably use it anyways), and it was working fine for a while but suddenly will not sync again. I have Vista so I use Windows Mobile Device Center, and have the latest ROM. I am trying to find a fix without having to do another hard reset.
Some things I have already tried:
1. Deleting the current pairing with my laptop and re-pairing
2. Using the y-extension included
3. Soft resetting while it is and is not connected
4. With and without advanced network functionality (or whatever) checked
The thing is it shows the device connected in my system tray but the phone itself will not connect. Can anyone help me here? I could not get an answer in the AT&T forums. Thanks!
Delete any and all partnerships on the phone AS WELL AS the Computer. Try using a different USB port. If you are using one in a hub, plug it right into your computer, try different ports in general. Try and see if you can "set it up" to sync with another computer, to determine if its more your computer or your phone. Hope this helps.
I tried your suggestions, including connecting it to my desktop, which runs XP Pro with the latest activesync version. No luck. I also tried another USB cable. Had anyone ever tried contacting HTC with issues? Do they just give you generic info/point you to their FAQs?
I got a x7500 from ebay and the device works great except unable to activesync via usb or bluetooth so I cannot install certain applications and sync up with outlook. Also none of my three computers do not see the device when connect to usb it only charges the device. I can however ftp and send obx files via bluetooth. I aslo tried resco explorer and set up some shared folders but unabe to see them via network. I also have tried the usb to pc checked and unchecked and the usbsettings.exe via turbo, normal and media and no luck whatsoever. I have even hard reset the device and tried everything again and nothings different same effect. Any Ideas. I tried four different cables, three pc's, 4.5, 4.2 and 4.1 activesync. tried bluetooth,. really fustrating.
PC's are Windows XP
Advantage is WM6
Rom is AP Touch 3.0

I got Activesync working by changing to Black AP Dual 3.0 and was able to activesync for about 3 days via Bluetooth (still unable to sync via cable). but now saying port is available.
I have closed all applications on both the device and the pc and even did a soft reset and still unable to activesync.
Any Ideas.

james
Try this
In your athena go to settings>connections>USB to PC, untick enable advanced network functionality (leave the square blank)

activesync problems
I, too, had that problem. I tried a different usb cable and everything works fine. I continue to have 'issues' with the stock cabl that came with the phone.
I tried everything else, ran out of ideas, so I tried the simplest thing.

activesync problems
I tried that already have about 8-10 mini-usb cables around and tried everyone, but no luck.
Have you thought about a "hard reset". I had a similar problem with a HTC T-mobile DASH and it did the trick. Good luck...TJ
I am unable to Activesync
Yes, I have tried a hard reset no luck, but got Bluetooth ActiveSync going by installing AP Black Touch 3.0
You may want to try flashing an OEM ROM using the SD method. Test that an if it works, reflash PK3.0 Dual. Sometimes flashing successive custom ROMs can perpetuate a file error. Flashing back to OEM seems to clear up a lot of issues. Otherwise you may have lifted contacts on your motherboard. If so, call PocketPCTecchs in California for repairs. Then fixed my UNI which had the mini usb completely fallen off.
Maybe it was on ebay because the seller knew the usb port was damaged?
were you able to charge your device via cable but still not active sync???????????
do you have any third-party plugins installed in ActiveSync?
I found that my ActiveSync problems were cleared up by uninstalling SplashID's ActiveSync conduit. ActiveSync seems quite fragile to buggy plugins
Try Uninstalling and then re-installing Active Sync, this solved the problem on mine a while ago...TJ

My Ameo Developed this problem out of nowhere! it started by needing a reset to connect to Activesync and now it just stopped working altogether. After trying everything suggested in here, i unchecked the "enable advanced network functionality" box, removed password lock from the device, did a SOFT reset and now its back! i am able to sync!
I have the latest ActiveSync, and a 8525 using Windows XP SP2.
ActiveSync was working fine until 2 weeks ago. Now I get an error saying its an unrecognized USB device. If I repair ActiveSync it works only 1 time then I have to repair again.
The phone charges fine, no other issues.
Could this be a USB issue on the phone?
i would first try a different cable or usb port on the pc
Ill give that a shot.
Still does the same thing. Charges fine.
Sometimes it will connect to ActiveSync then drop randomly.
Sometimes when I plug it in it doesnt recognize it.
soft reset your phone and then turn active sync on and off on the phone. Then try to connect.
I had a similar problem. whenever I connected my tytn to my pc, It wouldn't even charge my phone, nor would it activate active sync. the PC wouldn't recognize my device.
The solution that worked for me was to connect it to my pc, keep the PDA on, go into device manager, network adapter - and there it was - the windows mobile based device was disabled..
I have enabled it and now all is back to normal...
