MMS pictures are very small - Wing, P4350 General

I know I saw it on here before. I just spent the last twenty minutes searching. I know there is a regedit to increase the size of the sent size. I also remember seeing something you had to do to get the received size from not being shrunk down.
Thx

Use this & it should take care of the problem.

Thanks alot man. I knew I wasn't crazy

I had trouble reading my own post too
One hint I can give anyone wanting to try it is: DO NOT LOOK INTO THE LIGHT
Did you make this software or just find it laying around somewhere

Wrote it myself
oh man, that's awesome!
could you do me a favor and remove the screen-strobe (so the flashlight only strobes) and upload?
Nice
i thought of another good use for it. When driving down a road and coming up to a speed camera if the car in front is sort of annoying you, you could flash it just to worry em and see if they respond.
The only thing u would need is a bigger button in the GUI and maybe pressed once to start and once to stop.
Sorry just my mind wandering again
Wicked app !
As mentioned, would be absolutely GRRREEEEEAAAATTTT if the screen strobe could be disabled, that way we can blind others without at the same time blinding ourselves lol !
I could disable the screen-strobe, but then the light-flashes would be less-bright.
Somehow if I tell the universal to use ultra-bright flash, it automatically turns off the LCD-backlight, presumably to reserve power to the flash.
When writing it I didn't really have any use in mind apart from annoying friends, but I'll look into the suggestions you guys posted and see if I can come up with anything better
haha minted mate
Could this be made to run when theres an incoming call?
I cant think why you'd ever want to, but there is a chance
JAmes
ps. there a big redish area in the middle of everything i look at now......

More than one appointment in TF3D?

Have been searching around a bit, but havent found anything usefull yet!
Just wondering if there is a tweak that would make TF3D show more appointments when you flick up the clock? Right now I can flick up the clock abut I still see max 2 appointments (usually just one), with a lot of available space below, so this should be doable?
Cheers!
Agreed, it would be pretty nice to have some more events visible.
I have waited it for such a long long time too...... hope that the tweak will appear soon!!!
Mate, this has been asked and answered so many times. The board is so cluttered with crap already!
The board is littered with crap, mostly from people "customizing" their phones with 35 kinds of graphics. This is something actually needed, and very useful. And if the question has been answered in a useful way, I've never seen it and I check every day.

Album Issues

Any one else having issues with the photo album,
I'v taken out the crappy supplied transcend micro sd and put in a sandisk one in instead.
The album takes for ever to load up the pictures, then when you click on one album, it freezes forever and then 5 minutes later tells you
"Sorry, Activity Albums (in application Albums) is not repsonding, force close or wait"

Life isn't perfect and surprisingly no mobile phone is as well. stop MOANING for gods sake, can you actually see the images? yes? yes? oh it takes a few seconds? oh and in that time your supposed friends who only know you through Facebook and not in real life have deserted you... oh poor you, pooooooooooor you, we all feel for you. .......... lick a lemon, it may stimulate you....
And if it really if taking 5 mins then return the phone/...........
now was there any need for that?

Firstly, I don't like facebook nor am I even signed up to it, I make my friends in real life,
remember this is a website to help people out, I don't understand why you had to make the comments you'v made, if you think I'v done something wrong by making this thread, either ignore it or report it to a mod.
Anyway back to the point,
yes, it does indeed literally hang for nearly 5 minutes, loads one or two pics but the remaining 99% stay blank, stays like that, screen wont respond and so on.
And if it took even 10 seconds to load, I wouldn't mind, as I also use Windows Mobile which can be laggy, but 5 Minutes.
An yeh barryallott, please to do not respond to this unless you really have something constructive to say, I dont need you to tell me how much a waste of time this thread is.
Mine hangs occasionally on the albums, and can take up to 10-15 secs to load each album. I reckon it's just a fact of life at the moment- I can remember the first real implementation of HTC Album on the Touch Dual, and the program has come a long way since then on Win Mob. This is the first Android implementation and for the most part it works well for me.
If you are seriously getting 5 minute lag (or anything over 30 secs), I'd suggest getting a taskmanager from the market (I use "Task Manager") and check how many apps you have open, and what resources they are using. It took me a little while to realise that Android leaves stuff running in the background in a Win Mob fashion, which is ace as multitasking is a must for me, but it doesn't half take up resources if you aren't careful!
the other app I'd consider to be essential is '3g watchdog' which you can set with your data limit, and it keeps a tally of all your use in mb and as a percentage- Orange aren't getting a penny out of me for going over the 500mb limit! I wish it wasn't a trade off in the UK between awesome data bundles and no reception with T-mobile, or just about bearable data bundles and amazing reception with Orange...

That was such a dramatic over exaggeration. There was no need at all for any of that. I've seen people react better to being hit in the face than how you reacted to that guy asking a simple question...

point taken..
On the G1 and Magic, on first use of an app that stores stuff on SD, it seems to take a while, and this seems to be mainly down to it creating a thumbs database on the device. Once created, the subsequent access times are MUCH faster. I don't know that this is true for the HTC album, but part of the issue might be this, especially if it never gets time to completely load the pics so every time its trying to finish making a Thumbs database for you.
From the sound of things I think its a combo of issues - the quality of SD card probably having an effect, the creation of a Thumbs database on first access, and possible glitches with the HTC Albunm software that need ironing out. Good news is they all sound very solvable - So give it some time to load.... and think about getting a class4 or class6 SD card.
Much love

Yep your right, theres a folder called .thumbnails in the DCIM folder.
I'v got an Sandisk 8GB class 4 Micro SDHC, so that isn't the issue.
I agree with you that it's most likely to do with the album software.
I exchanged my phone today at the orange shop, and the guy told me that the delay for the release of the Hero was because they had to send the handsets back due to the reading/loading issues. And he happily exchanged it.
Problem still persists, but I'm sure just as you said, that future software revisions may iron things out.
Thanx

My way of saying thanks to the community

Over the last week or so I've downloaded a ton of cab files, which have served to not only make my phone look better, but run better as well. When I began reading these forums, I had no clue as to the inner workings of this phone. However, through the well-written guides, advice, and comments offered by the community I have mustered the courage to actually flash the ROM with one of the many fantastic ROMs available (energy ROM with Dinik’s glassy bits). There are so many of you that are deserving of a contribution, I hardly know where to begin. That coupled with the fact that I have recently become unemployed has led me to try and show my gratitude in another way.
I spent some time walking around the house today looking for some textures that might make interesting wallpapers. That coupled with some of the photographs I've taken in the past, I have created a folder of images that some of you may find useful.
Please keep in mind that this is my first amateurish attempt to create wallpapers. The majority these images were created with the Nikon D. 300 digital camera (12 megapixels). I saved them at the highest resolution possible, making some of them a bit large. When I first loaded a couple of them onto my phone, I thought I had locked it up. I hadn't, it just took long time, as much as 45 seconds, for some of them to load. These are fairly high quality images (many of them can be blown up to poster size without losing much image quality), and you can put them into a photo editor, re-crop, and save at a lower-resolution to speed up the load process. Further, you will not be able to appreciate the detail in some of the textures by looking at the thumbnails.
You needn't worry about any copyright infringement since I personally took every photograph in the folder, and you of course have my permission to use them in whatever way you wish. Just don't re-bundle them and sell them to someone else, because that would be uncool. In addition to textures there is something in there for you patriots(USA), nature lovers, and a little bit for you Harley and cobra guys/gals.
Any comments or suggestions -- from those of you out there who, unlike myself, actually know what you're doing when it comes to making wallpapers -- are welcome. I hope yousee something you like.
Cheers, 111Kestrel

Finally got an arc.

Hi guys I finally got my arc today. In love with it more than I was with my x10i and desire hd. Anyway I have a couple of enquiries.
First of all what is the 2nd mic used for?
Secondly, does the noise reduction option in call settings help and if so how? What difference is there in it being on and off?
Last but not least...ive seen two or three threads regarding 0% battery...what is this issue actually about?
Thanks and looking forward to join in with discussions and other threads.
Sent from my LT15i using Tapatalk
The 2nd mic is used for the noise cancellation - it record the background noise separately from the main mic then will subtract the one signal from the other to try and help reduce/remove it.
As for how effective it is, I've never knowingly used it, so I can't comment.
The 0% battery issue seems to be some sort of problem related to trying to flash/root the handset in a particular way.
There are solutions out there, so if you're afflicted by it there are ways of sorting it but I wouldn't worry unless it happens.
your second question is the answer to your first. the 2nd mic is on the back and is supposed to monitor the sounds of the area around you, to then cancel that noise whilst on a call. can't say how effective the noise reduction is, but i guess its working well since people rarely have any issues hearing me in busy, loud environments.
the 0% battery issue is only if you're rooting or flashing on your handset from what i understand. so if you wish to stay with stock SE firmware, you wont have this issue. SE is updating their firmwares reasonably quickly anyway, so if you don't root it, its not a major issue (well not for me anyway).
hope you like your arc, love this phone <3
Thank you so much guys. For a newbie to this phone can anyone give me any tips and tricks? And have any of you guys experienced the crack that everyone is on about?
Sent from my LT15i using Tapatalk
Yeah, I've got the crack(s).
Never noticed 'til I went looking for them though, so it's not worth worrying about IMO.
So far I've dropped the phone on concrete and tiles about 4 times and haven't got the cracks, so I've been pretty lucky. I do have some rough corners as a result, so make sure you take good care of it!
I find that the phone has nowhere near enough internal memory, so if you download many apps, you'll need to start moving as many as you can to the sd card. Note that apps stored on the sd card cannot have widgets, so if you want a specific apps widget, it'll need to be on internal memory
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
I have the cracks over the sensor that others have experienced, despite never dropping my phone. I think the plastic is not the best quality and tbh you can feel how fragile it is when you first pick it up. My old phone was HTC HD2 and felt like a brick compared to my Arc. I'm still umming and arrrring about sending it in for repair......
As for any tips? There is a thread here which you might find useful

Thanks for the info guys. Im just scared now though but the crack situation. I have currently got a leather pouch on my arc

It's not worth worrying mate, it doesn't get any worse and it doesn't affect the phone in any way.

Cheers mate. Just another quick question to everyone. How many apps have everybody got on their device? My reason for asking is because my internal memory went really low. I dont really wanna move apps to sd if I can help it. Edit: I have 70 apps installed in the downloaded section ofmanage application including market youtube and maps. Is that good? Keeping in mind two or three of them are either licenses eg titanium pro and some widgets

I have 146 apps installed in my Arc and I moved it all to SD Card, if possible..
I have ~150 apps in total installed and have 41Mb free on phone memory. All have moved to SD card (where possible) using Apps2SD. I'm sure I could get rid of alot of the older I apps I don't use as much
As mentioned above, I wouldn't worry too much about the crack. It does not affect phone's performance and most people will not notice it unless you point it out to them.
I was thinking of sending mine in for repair, but last night when I got home opened car door and my Arc fell out of my pocket on concrete floor. It bounced a couple of times so I feared the worst. After close inspection, there are 2 small scuff marks on side and that's all, no damage to screen nothing.....thankfully, maybe I got lucky, but will no longer be sending it in for repair as SE will say it was caused by dropping it.
Yep second mic is used for clever phasing to cancel out the external noise.
thanks guys...yesterday I updated via SEUS in order to root and hopefully update to 2.3.4 however I am still on 2.3.3 with firmware version 4.0.A.2.368...in SEUS it said that the home screen will now support landscape mode but ive not seen much difference.

I remember reading this in an old firmware update changelog. It seems SE actually meant that there was landscape home screen support when screen mirroring via HDMI (ie. when you hook up your arc to a monitor/TV, you can see the phone on the monitor/TV in landscape). on the phone however, the home screen is always in portrait
im sorry to keep bugging everybody with question after question but i wanted to know how much space do apps take on sd card? for example if an app on internal memory takes 1mb will it be the same on the sd card? Im just wondering because even though my sd card shows hidden files, both on Astro and Windows i can never see the app files.
thanks you everybody for your cooperation
Pretty much the same space, yeah - they still take up a small amount of memory on the handset (a couple of KB or so) but basically it's all just shoved onto the card instead.
