So I saw that Best buy is now selling an unlocked version of the Touch Dual and I was wondering if it is different then the versions that have been out. My main question is what bands does it operate on in the U.S. versus the european version of the phone!
It exist 2 device they call Touch Dual. One device is for Europa "HTC Niki" the other for US Based Networks "HTC NEON". The different is the Radio and the Frequencys you can use!

Yes... The US Touch Dual (ie Best Buy one) has HSDPA on the 850/1900 bands. The Euro Touch Dual has HSDPA on 2100 band (ie NO US 3G)

Also, the previous Touch Duals were GSM Tri Band and the US version is Quad Band.
Not just Best Buy sell them, I sell them too.

hey Maevro- Will you guys be selling the US Dual fitted cases? The cases that sell now are only for the EU Dual/Nike. The camera on the back of the US Dual is set differently.
Thanks.

ok just read that the austrlains are getting the touch hd with the 3g band 850
http://wmpoweruser.com/
does it means we finally can get 3g version that works here in the usa
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont think we need both 1900 and 850 bands to work with 3g here. if that was the case the xperia x1i wouldnt work here in 3g , but it does.
has neone else heard anything else about this
Hey, there's a thread about this...

Dear Friends
I do have a problem with accessing 3G, I bought recently a HTC TOUCH HD, and I live in Brazil, but I can't operate in 3G, I do not know why.
I had a HTC TOUCH CRUISE, and I could access 3G, but I had a problem in auricular issue. And living in BRAZIL, I do not have a service center that I can repair my phone.
So I bought a new one.
I hope somebody to help me.
What provider do you use?
The HTC Touch Cruise supports 850, 1900, 2100 3G bands.
The HTC Touch HD supports 900, 2100 3G bands.

Does anyone have an unbranded HTC Touch Pro working on AT&T's US 3G network? I've tried three different ROMs (2 of which were AT&T branded, complete with 3G bootup screen) and the latest radio stack I could find and it continually connects with EDGE only.
Voice works fine, but data is obviously slow (40kbit a sec or so) rather than the faster 3G speeds I've been used to on previous phones. This same SIM plugged into a Fuze or a Tilt will work fine on 3G in the same locations, so it's definitely something specific to this HTC Touch Pro.
Is the European-spec GSM freqs different from the AT&T US ones? Both list 850 and 1900mhz.
Any suggestions? Sorry if this is a noob question, but I'm at my wits end and am getting frustrated with what seems like a great phone with SLOW connectivity.
IIRC the standard / unbranded GSM HTC Touch Pro is HSDPA 900 / 2100:

I don't think you'll be able to get 3G.

I was wondering if something like that might be the problem, and had checked HTC's own website for the Touch Pro @ http://www.htc.com/us/product/touchpro/specification.html
I saw :
HSPA/WCDMA:
Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
Up to 2 Mbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
Europe/Asia: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
(Band frequency and data speed are operator dependent
...I'd initially only noticed the GSM frequencies, but now that you point it out, it's obvious that the DATA part runs on 900/2100 -- appears I'm screwed. :-(
Thanks for clearing this up for me!
Hello all, I am looking at potentially picking up a new Touch Diamond2 for use in the US on AT&T as my Touch Cruise no longer accepts any input (it is visible, but doesn't accept "touch"). So I have a few questions for those in the know:
1. Anyone use the NextG Australian version that supports the 850 3G? If so how was it in on AT&T? I am a little worried about not having the 1900 band, but since there is no way to know where AT&T has 850 versus 1900 I am at a loss.
2. Has anyone who owns this version added any new ROMs from here on the board or are you not able to do so since it has the 850 radio?
3. Anyone have any cool accessories they recommend?
4. Where did you buy yours? I am in the US so I need to have it imported.
Thanks for your input.
