You installed the HTC Album with file directory. I believe this version came from a Chinese phone and that is why it has the blocks. I read it on a diffrent page on the kaiser Forum.
Uninstall it and try downloading the HTC Album with out File Directory. You wont be able to search for the pics in your directory, but HTC Album will find them if you have them stored in the SD Card where the pics are being saved after you take them.
I will enclose one for you or any one that wants to try it, but there are other versions out there if you don't like this one.

You should have a ZIP program on your phone to unzip it. Just open the program and search for the ZIP file.
If you dont have a ZIP program go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371314
Go to the removed section on DCD's Second post and there is a Link to download the ZIP program.
If you need the touch flo cube you there are too many variations of the program.
Here are some threads on some CUBES but feel free to find one that fits you.

brain fart- installing black add-ons

Lurker and 2nd time post.
Hello!
Started developing my 8525 this week.Went with the Bulletproof 1.40 oil Hard SPL, Black WM6 2.5, Sim unlocker.
Question is this:
I need help loading the BlackWM6 keyboard fix. Do I do this from my desktop thru active sync, from the my docs on the phone or Manually?
Same goes for running the ADD-ON .cabs to allow cingular Video/ Realplayr fix.
Cant figure out the install. Googled and Forum searched 'keybord' couldent find the help.
Thank you!
fugi
Hate to say it but you need to read. Copy the CAB file to your device. Then open the CAB from the device. It will then prompt you to install. If it is something accessed intensely then put it on the device. If not then install it to the storage card.

Thank you. I know there is a tutorial for it somewhere but I cant find it.
The Files included in the Keyboard fix for the Black 2.5 will not execute on my Desktop or my 8525. I have them copied to my storage card and when I click on any of the files they tell me it is not associated and that I need to open the file from within the application..I dont know what program the files are associated to.

Are these *.cab files or *.zip files???
I thought they would act as cab files but they identify as 0csetup...001... 002.... 003
files not as cab or zip.

I dont know what your are running. Delete those a get the keyboard fixes which you need. What is the exact device you are using and the carrier? What keys are not working correctly? Where did you get those fixes??? If they are not *.cab files then dont run them.
Don't extract the cab files - copy them directly to your storage card and run them from there.
Yes That was the trick thank you. I had DLed them to my Desktop and tried to transfer the files in activesynch. DLed to my phone and it was golden.
Thanks for your patience.

Amazing update for your XDA 2i

Download the free WM 2003 version of pointui here http://forums.pointui.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=858
it is amazing a scrolling interface with wrappers for most of the standard functonality. Works like a dream for thos who like the way Iphone scrolls and uses finger rather than pointers. A complete interface
Who ever made this is so f***in brilliant! I wont plan to buy a new device anymore!!!! good thing 2i has a very fast processor!
Any screenshots?
Just installed this on my ageing xdaIIi and its fantastic, xdaIIi meets iphone.
installed in minutes and I havent put it down for over an hour.
re-invented my xda.
well done !
bloody awsome!!!!!!
its sweetttttt on teh magnitue 1000+
i hope they keep up with it and donated to them too
Great New Update
I have waited so long for this. Thankyou,Thankyou.
I want to send money for the first time ever.
Screenshots just do not do this justice, the finger interface using point and slide has to be tried. For those who are curious, just do a search for Pointui and screenshots to see why we are so enthusiastic. Note for best installation you need to install the WM5 version even though it does not run on the XDA2i and then download the WM2003 zip and overwrite the files in the directory created by the wm5 install with the 2003 ones. You can choose whether to go for the Blue or the Black theme when you download the WM5 version, if you choose the black one then dont copy the Home.cdl across as the wm2003 one in the zip has the blue theme in its home.cdl.
That last message seems really complicated to a novice like myself.
I have an XDA 11i - can I just follow the link and let it download to my phone ??
it will run if you just download from http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/1.02b/2003/1/home.ppc2003.zip and unzip in a directory but ideally you should install the WM5 cab first ( http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx ) and then overwrite the appropriate files with the ones from the 2003 zip. Good Luck Rob
I got to this page and now I am baffled - sorry .
http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx
I have a 2003 edit - XDA11i .
I tried the EASY way but without success.
Just get a "Can't execute message ".
Thanks anyway .
OK here goes, click on the link http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx and click on the download icon on the top left of the screen under the word home. Then on the screen that appears click on the button near the bottom that says "download cab installer" Copy the file to the main memory of your XDA and then double click on it. You will see it install. This has installed the WM5 version on the XDA. Next step is to click on this link http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/1.02b/2003/1/home.ppc2003.zip and download the zip file, this is an archive file and will need to be decompressed if you are using windows XP or vista, or a MAC this will be done when you double click on it and you will see 4 files Home.exe, home.cdl, pointui.cdl and pointui.fonts.cdl these 4 files need to be copied on top of the ones installed by the cab file ie select the 4 files and navigate on the xda to Program files directory, then to pointui directory, then to home 1.02b directory and paste in there. Easiest to do for you using windows fie manager while the XDA is syncing as the xda is visible a drive. Hopefully this makes more sense to you.
Very detail walk through & very fast and furious.
There is one problem. wouldn't unlock screen after you lock it. anyone experience it? How to overcome?
You have to swipe your finger vertically down the screen to unlock ie along the line of arrows.
does this work on xda2 aswell
Yes it should work well on the XDA2 give it a whirl as it cannot do any harm
Robsno -thanks very much for taking the time to write the detailed explanation -I really appreciate it.
However I just don't have the knowledge to follow MOST of the instructions .
I will have to wait for a simple CLICK HERE option to arrive - the ones that just load it onto your XDA with no messing.
Sorry but THANKS anyway.

After reading the reviews of this I thought it was about time I had a go at changing the xda2i from the original settings it came with nearly 18 months ago. I have to say it is just like have an iPhone now absolutely fantastic interface. Thanks for the simple instructions. Although after several resets of the xda2i nothing happened until I browsed through the folder structure in Program files\pointui\home\1.02b and clicked the home icon, then it sprang in to life. Anyone should be able to follow your instructions with a little knowledge of how to navigate around the xda2i. Thanks for the tutorial.
just want to say thank you so much, i'd lost my veiwty and was given this peice of cr*p yesterday but after seeing this site following your instructions the whole package is nearly better than my veiwty. thanks
Apologies I should have said go to the Program files\pointui\home\1.02b copy the home icon with windows mobile file manager go to windows\startup and paste shortcut then it will start automatically if you reboot.

Hi Noonski, yes I already have Internet Explorer version 8 for a few days. Not tested yet. I uploaded it to mediafire so you can download the cab here. I didn't make an OEM package yet.

I would like to know as well what SYS packages (if any?) should be removed before putting this in the kitchen?
Andy
i installed mi ie8 cab on my hp ipaq 214. but i dont know how to start it. where is exe?
so I tried instaling the cab file and I do not see any differences. It seems like an addon for the already existing PIE... ?
I looke at the OEM, and I am not sure what the differences are other than the new DLLs.
Can someone explain what the new features are?
I still can't see the myspace page normal. WTF?!
Ok guy more details...
The oem package must go in Sys folder togehter other Browsing folders, you must not delete anything!
Cook your room and enjoy, rember tu put flashlite also in your rom!
For IE8 probably need some other file, I'll try to cook in a rom to try it!

Congrats on that.
Did you try the first root folder and put the two inner folders in the sys?
Repack posted in post #1, this should work.
I have cooked this into my ROM and it all works OK apart from the IE home page. In the folder 'browsingie_LANG_0409' the .RGU file sets the home page to
Code:
"home_0409"="file://\\Windows\\iemo6_default_0409.htm"
and this file is included in the folder. When I launch IE though I get the 'Action canceled' page. I have verified the file is there and if I use File Exlporer to find the file and then open it, it all opens OK. If I open the file this way and then set it to the home page and then close and open IE the problem is still there so I am stuck as to what the issue is?
I have noticed similar behaviour with other .htm files as well; for example the JBlend0409.htm file when trying to access it via Help - you get 'Cannot open Help. The file cannot be found' however the file is there and the shortcuts are correct?
It is pretty weird?

How-To's For Nubs

Hi guys, this is my first windows mobile ever, and i've come on here and looked at all these threads for around 2 weeks now and id really like to start doing things!
I've looked at the *Leo hints and tips* and downloaded Resco, so i now know how to edit values and things in the root folder, but what i'm unsure about, and i'm sure all the new people to windows phones are to, is where to start?
I mean the phone reads .cab files, but say I download a .cab file, do i download it on my pc and put it on the phone, if so where to? After that do i have to click it, run it, what? Do i download it off my hd2 and it'll run? which I have done, but after installation, where is it stored if i want to open the file? What happens if i install a .cab and don't like it? Where is it for me to delete and how do I go about this? how do I uninstall things i've installed?
What im asking is, if there is a starting tutorial for these things, can it be a sticky because there are hundreds of threads on here and the search tool and my searching isn't finding what I really want...essentially...'HD2 for dummies...' guide.
sorry if this has been said before, or i'm expected to know these things, but if someone could point me and many others in a direction, or a sticky could be made, then id be one happy welsh man!
Cheers guys.
The simple answer to your question about cab files is that they're installers, just like you have on your PC. When it's installed, you can (if you wish) delete the cab file. (I keep all mine so if I upgrade my ROM then I can install things again without having to find the cab files all over again.) There's also "remove programs" in the windows settings folder, and you can uninstall apps from there.
Think of it more like a PC than a phone and you'll get on with it a lot easier.
Also, if it's windows you want help with then there's dedicated windows folders on this forum. Windows isn't specific to the HD2, so you will usually get better help in the more specific areas.
Other than that, just play with it and have fun.
Hope this helps
To install a cab you just need to copy or download it to your phone and then click on it. An installation wizard will then appear to take you through the installation process.
right okay, so the .cab i can delete as if it was a .exe file, but where do i save it on the phone for it to run, which folder?
When using file explorer and tweaking and installing .cabs, thats windows though i pressume? Not htc...

You can run the cab file from anywhere you like on the phone. If you're planning on deleting them after installing it really doesn't matter. Like I said, I keep my cabs (and would recommend it too!), so I have an "installers" folder, with sub-folders for different types of cab files.
Installers and tweaks are not specific to either windows or HTC - they could be either or both.
I personally keep all my cabs at Storage Card\Backup\CABs I transfer them to there from my PC, run them from there, save them there.
You can put them in any folder you like and run them from anywhere you like. There are no rules on where cab files need to be.
right okay, so i install a .cab file, say for example ive installed a new unlock slider, i change my mind and don't want that one anymore i would like the old one back, what do I do?

In that specific example, you'd have to check the thread where you got the new slider from. That's overwritten original files so obviously an uninstall doesn't recreate them. I tend not to install theme mods that can't be rolled back, purely because of this!
I've tried some alternative lockscreens before, and they definitely had the original files in a cab so you could undo it.
right okay. and for example if i was to install, i don't know, an additional button up onto the top bar by the start menu, how would I go about deleting?
Back to my OP, why is there no tutorial or hot-tips threads made as a sticky for people new to this stuff like I am?

Help Please. Cabs not going into My documents

Hope someone can help.
As usual i am putting new cabs into my documents on the pc and syncing. But when i open file explorer, these new cabs are now showing as windows files that cannot be open as oppossed to cabs as they used to be.
I'm a bit of a noob ,so i'm not sure i have explained this very well but hopefully someone can help.
Thanks in advance.....
sounds like you are extracting the cabs to me, i just have a folder on my sd card i call general crap, and i copy all my cabs in there, go to file explorer sd card then general crap then click on what i want to install
Thanks very much for the swift response. Its very odd that this has started happening all of a sudden. Some cabs ie wallpapers, are going into my documents, but others as i said seem to now be windows files and not cabs, once they are in my documents and cannot be opened, very very frustrating !! I'll try what you said this evening and see if it works, but i cannot understand why it would all of a sudden be extracted when thats never been the case before ?
I'm sure i must have changed something, but i wish i new what
Cheers again for your help. I would be lost without this site, and my HD2 would be no-where near as much fun.
Thanks for the help, but it didn't work. Files still appear as window type files that i cannot open instead of the usual cabs. Wish i new whats changed, but unless anyone has a suggestion, i can feel a dreaded hard reset coming on !!!
Can you not just explore your device with activesync and copy the files manually, rather than using some method of synching? Or, connect as a USB drive and copy the files to your memory card. Either they're not actually cab installers, or the sync process is doing something to them.
Just tried both your suggestions, but with no luck. But thanks anyway for the reply. Wish i new what has changed but something has .

What actually happens then when you click a cab file? Do any old cab files work, or is it now all cab files that won't work?
It says " The file ????? cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file "
You can see before you try to open it that its not right, as i say , it appears to be a window file not a cab, once it goes on my device, though judging by the size of the file it is all there !!!
Wallpaper cabs seem to be working for some reason though.
Using your PC, browse to the folder on your phone and see what the file is called. If it doesn't look like a cab file should, then it probably won't have a .cab extension. (I only say this because the file explorer on the phone does not show file extensions. Your PC may not be set up to do so either though. The alternative is to use Total Commander or Resco to see what the file extension is.)
Can you give me a link to a cab file that doesn't work for you?

Shortcuts to start menu folders is one of the cabs. As above .

Well the link you gave me is a zip file with a cab file in it, so you would need to unzip it first. Cab files are actually a format of compression, so it's likely that a cab file and a zip file would have the same icon on your PC. It's for reasons like that that I always make sure to have file extensions switched on on my PC.
Try unzipping it and copying the contents to your phone and see how you get on with that.
