Hi Noonski, yes I already have Internet Explorer version 8 for a few days. Not tested yet. I uploaded it to mediafire so you can download the cab here. I didn't make an OEM package yet.

I would like to know as well what SYS packages (if any?) should be removed before putting this in the kitchen?
Andy
i installed mi ie8 cab on my hp ipaq 214. but i dont know how to start it. where is exe?
so I tried instaling the cab file and I do not see any differences. It seems like an addon for the already existing PIE... ?
I looke at the OEM, and I am not sure what the differences are other than the new DLLs.
Can someone explain what the new features are?
I still can't see the myspace page normal. WTF?!
Ok guy more details...
The oem package must go in Sys folder togehter other Browsing folders, you must not delete anything!
Cook your room and enjoy, rember tu put flashlite also in your rom!
For IE8 probably need some other file, I'll try to cook in a rom to try it!

I tried the Package both in OEM and Sys, iT did not change anything here to.

Congrats on that.
Did you try the first root folder and put the two inner folders in the sys?
Repack posted in post #1, this should work.
I have cooked this into my ROM and it all works OK apart from the IE home page. In the folder 'browsingie_LANG_0409' the .RGU file sets the home page to
Code:
"home_0409"="file://\\Windows\\iemo6_default_0409.htm"
and this file is included in the folder. When I launch IE though I get the 'Action canceled' page. I have verified the file is there and if I use File Exlporer to find the file and then open it, it all opens OK. If I open the file this way and then set it to the home page and then close and open IE the problem is still there so I am stuck as to what the issue is?
I have noticed similar behaviour with other .htm files as well; for example the JBlend0409.htm file when trying to access it via Help - you get 'Cannot open Help. The file cannot be found' however the file is there and the shortcuts are correct?
It is pretty weird?
Andy

I thought so as well till he\she said they got it on xda, that made me think maybe a kitchen ext package
The cab files can be opened with winzip on your PC. The contents of a cab file is usually an xml file, icon file and other files for installation. Are you sure you are not opening a cab file in winzip?

Thats an OEM package for use in kitchens when cooking ROMS. You cant install it to a running system. (Well, not in that form anyway)

Gotcha, thanks man! Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything I don't already have
icons
can u help me with one more thing. i downloaded some icons. it does not have any other files but icons and album file. when i place the file into the windows directory. gives me an message that it can not be overitten due to not enough space and file is being used. how do i change go around it.
thks jelendel. for making file in to cab.
similar problems/questions
most cab files/apps i download and install are very straight forward and I save to storage card and there are right there on my "start" screen. others I download and I cant find them? I look through the file explorer but either cant find them or dont know what to do if I do find the file.
example, egg timer 1.0 -I can find it listed on "remove programs" page page so I know I got it. but how do I get it to a more 'usable' location.
another example. I want to get the Bluetooth toggle (BTtoggle) from pocketnow site. I downloaded the app, then it says I need to edit my registry (I understand the dangers of this) at
"HKLM\software\HTC\Manilla" and change the value of HomeLSKPath to the path to your BTtoggle.exe .....etc.....
First time editing registry, so sounds like I need to get a registry editor. I looked for a free one. CeRegEdit version 5.2.exe file. looks like it downloaded ok but I cant find on device??
LASTLY, I use CoOkies home editor and I really like it, but does that mean I cant do other changes/app installs to any HTC sense items/lock screen/home screen/etc? thanks for reading this far....steve
Or if you know of easier to get bluetooth toggle or any kind of timer applications so I dont burn food at the fire station, feel free to reccomend...Thanks

Aloha, and just because you're in civil service like that, I'll give you a hand with this one here...but it's usually best to open a new thread with a bunch of questions like that. You can just edit your post above to just say "moved to new thread", and then copy all that you wrote into a new thread you start...you'll probably get more views/responses that way too
These cabs will give you a toggle for bluetooth, wifi, and a reset button. Once you run the cab, you can find them in your start menu, but they're most useful when you assign them to one of the quicklink spots (on your home tab), just like you would any other program.
P.S. you'll find a lot more useful stuff for your new phone right here in these forums, and 99% of it is free, and known to work on the HD2 (unless stated otherwise). Start HERE and HERE
Hope someone can help.
As usual i am putting new cabs into my documents on the pc and syncing. But when i open file explorer, these new cabs are now showing as windows files that cannot be open as oppossed to cabs as they used to be.
I'm a bit of a noob ,so i'm not sure i have explained this very well but hopefully someone can help.
Thanks in advance.....
sounds like you are extracting the cabs to me, i just have a folder on my sd card i call general crap, and i copy all my cabs in there, go to file explorer sd card then general crap then click on what i want to install
Thanks very much for the swift response. Its very odd that this has started happening all of a sudden. Some cabs ie wallpapers, are going into my documents, but others as i said seem to now be windows files and not cabs, once they are in my documents and cannot be opened, very very frustrating !! I'll try what you said this evening and see if it works, but i cannot understand why it would all of a sudden be extracted when thats never been the case before ?
I'm sure i must have changed something, but i wish i new what
Cheers again for your help. I would be lost without this site, and my HD2 would be no-where near as much fun.
Thanks for the help, but it didn't work. Files still appear as window type files that i cannot open instead of the usual cabs. Wish i new whats changed, but unless anyone has a suggestion, i can feel a dreaded hard reset coming on !!!
Can you not just explore your device with activesync and copy the files manually, rather than using some method of synching? Or, connect as a USB drive and copy the files to your memory card. Either they're not actually cab installers, or the sync process is doing something to them.
Just tried both your suggestions, but with no luck. But thanks anyway for the reply. Wish i new what has changed but something has .

What actually happens then when you click a cab file? Do any old cab files work, or is it now all cab files that won't work?
It says " The file ????? cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file "
You can see before you try to open it that its not right, as i say , it appears to be a window file not a cab, once it goes on my device, though judging by the size of the file it is all there !!!
Wallpaper cabs seem to be working for some reason though.
Using your PC, browse to the folder on your phone and see what the file is called. If it doesn't look like a cab file should, then it probably won't have a .cab extension. (I only say this because the file explorer on the phone does not show file extensions. Your PC may not be set up to do so either though. The alternative is to use Total Commander or Resco to see what the file extension is.)
Can you give me a link to a cab file that doesn't work for you?

Well the link you gave me is a zip file with a cab file in it, so you would need to unzip it first. Cab files are actually a format of compression, so it's likely that a cab file and a zip file would have the same icon on your PC. It's for reasons like that that I always make sure to have file extensions switched on on my PC.
Try unzipping it and copying the contents to your phone and see how you get on with that.

Simply Notepad will do, remove the Read-Only and you can save, don't know what you mean about the File Explorer thing.
I think I used notepad to save the file..
What do you mean with the file that arranges file explorer? The file that place file explorer in the start menu? Thats initflashfile..
hmm think i did something stupid then as it got saved as a file and not a systemfile like all other manilla files are
will give it a few attempts
as for the file explorer i want to know wich packages contains all files from file explorer
i lost my kitchen a month ago
and now i have rebuilded it(i know stupid i didnt have a backup)
with the previous kitchen when i reachd the end of the list it would give a bounce effect
i lost this in file explorer while i still have it in contacts(for example)
so i think there is a reg wrong in file explorer package but i dont knwo wich package it is
is it a sys package or a ext package
i run a search treu the kitchen with for ''fileexplorer'' but without results

Don't think its needed to put it back to read-only. I never do that anyway.
The bounce in file explorer and start menu etc is done by physicsengine from WM6.5

i am using 21907 so it should work by its own
also it a boumce thingie i have it in contacts and everywhere else i try but not in file explorer
i also tried the one from 21901 and im sure the rom i cooked with that build a couple of roms back it had the bounce thingie at the end of file explorer:-o
could it be 21907sys included a 6.5.x fexplorer? will try that later and wil lalso report if the physicsengine appelflap posted wroks or not
flashing the rom with appelflaps now is at 50%
well i made a rom with the physicsengine appelflap posted and again i have the bounce thingie everywhere except in file explorer
i use 21907 sys/xip so the build should support it in file explorer:S
anyone else any thoughts about this?
Don't re-cook and flash just to test out a .dll. You can over-write the rom module with a filed .dll using total commander, and after a soft reset see if things are working.

any idea where i could find that file on the phone

isnt there any reg for the bouncing cause when i hold till the loadingcircle for menu comes and i start scrolling before the menu pops up i can get the bounce in file explorer:-o
on a side note how did you make that vid with youre comp maybe i could make it to see what i mean
could you tell me with wich prog you made the movie

yep the program is SOTI pocket controler V6PRO
i dont know if there is a REG for bounce.... i dont know why you dont have nothing to overwrite... seems that you dont have the physics engine before so weird.
i know the physics engine is a module in my sys(got it this way from a few topics above)
kinda weird as it is working in startmenu, twittertab, contacts, settingstab and everywhere else you can think of having the bounce
gues ill have to leave it as it is
thanks for the help thoug
I've been reading up on cooking ROM's and with the help of leeston i managed to create a basic ROM earlier in the week. After searching for guides / tutorials on this stuff im really not that much the wiser, i cant seem to find anything that explains it well enough, there always missing details. The actual cooking process seems fairly straightforward but its those extra bits im missing ie
how do i add my own packages - am i right in just copying them to the SYS folder or is there more to it ?
how do i edit the registry - I know how to edit the registry once the ROM is loaded onto my phone but how do i do it from the ROM without the phone ?
how do i add things to the start menu - When i add packages to the SYS folder and load the ROM into my phone the shortcuts dont seem to be in my start menu
how do i add sense - i've loaded the packages but it never starts and theres no sense option in today settings
im new to this so as you'd imagine the questions i have are endless ...
Im sure most of this info is on XDA already somewhere but i just cant find it, maybe im searching for the wrong term or something.
Any help from the chef's would be great, perhaps you could provide links to tutorials / info you've used when learning to cook. Im sure this stuff would be useful to everyone and may even encourage more to have a go at cooking .

I am still new to cooking but I'll tell you what i believe to be correct.
1.Yes. To add a package to a rom you put the package into the SYS folder.
However be aware that the kitchen used for the TG01 cannot handle EXT (visual) packages, only OEM (old) packages can be used. Use Totalfires package converter to convert between the 2 types.
The above info is not strictly true but is what you need to know when cooking for the TG and i don't have the time or knowledge to write a complete tutorial.
2. Editing the registry is all to do with .RGU files, you can create a package with a new one in or edit the existing ones within the packages in the SYS folder. You can edit them with notepad but i suggest using Notepad2.
Once you open an .RGU file you should recognize the reg key text in the file and edit it accordingly. As far as i am aware the file MUST have REGEDIT4 in the first line and an empty line at the bottom in order to work. Another way is to edit the regkey on your device then export the regkey using resco or something similar, then rename the resulting file from .reg to .rgu then open it in note pad and copy and paste it into another packages .rgu file, or create a custom package for that .rgu file.
The registry can also be modified using cab files during autorun, but this can be a little messy as the cab can be uninstalled by the end user causing problems.
3. To do this you need to edit the initflashs.txt file within the . This can be done manually or with one of the many package tools available on this site. The one i use is below, it does the hardwork for you, you click a few options and it edits the required files as needed.
4. Sense is a funny one. You should just need to add all the required packages to the SYS folder and away it goes. Unfortunately this is rarely the case. It should just a case of making sure all the sense packages are there, including its many dependencies. Sense is one of my weaker areas so maybe some one else has better advice.
Hope this is useful.
do you have a loooong far way, but read the forumposts an try, try and shortPin and try. that was my way, or is my way. i have don´t helping, all found with google and in xda forum.

I may be wrong but when the cab files are first installed doesnt it automatically reboot ? If not you can always do a manual reboot ;-).
I've tried everything to get sense working but im just having no luck ... copied the packages to the sys folder, flashes fine, boots fine but no sense and now theres no setting shortcut in the start menu ?
Could i ask for the exact procedure for installing sense please ? Im getting my packages from here but replacing the 2017 home with 2016. Could i perhaps be missing something ?

The solutoin is to use autorun instead of cabinstl, you can then write a custom script to handle the input required by the cab.
However this is above my head, and i couldn't get autorun to work. FFBOY knows how but i doubt you will get his help as he doesn't seem to check any threads other than his own rom threads, and if he does his responces are few and far between.

Thanks again

Those are the packages i used and they work so it's not the packages, but i cheated and dumped a sense rom then modified it. I don't have time to try and work out how to do it properly unfortunatley.

Well atleast i know the packages are fine, i was starting to wonder if that was the problem . Theres some satisfaction in doing it yourself but like miro said i think its just too much for me, ill give it another go later in the week and if that fails ill just dump a sense rom like you did ... if there was just a tutorial on installing sense packages etc id be fine, with sense being so popular you'd think there to be loads of tuts.
Hi,
I'm using the latest osKitchen (v1.33.5) to build my own ROM for the HTC Kovsky (SE Xperia X1). Followed the tutorial, imported the latest official R3A WWE build, added a WM 21916 build and started cooking. But there's no first boot customization after a flash/hard reset. There are no errors, executing AutoRun.exe from the Windows folder doesn't seem to work either.
The config.txt (used by AutoRun and RunCC) files are left stock, but editing them doesn't make a difference. How can I fix this? If you need more information, just ask. I'll reply asap.
Have you added the runcc.lua file and redirected it to the right config.txt?
If so, flash the ROM and look whether those files are in \Windows\ (and just not executed) or not present.
Flashed the ROM: runcc.lua was already added and it redirects to the right config.txt. Paths are correct.
...
this happened to me not so long ago:
check that the autorun.exe and config**.txt files do not get overwrote during rom creation.
check that there are no duplicate files with those file names..
good luck!
Rn
I don't think those files are being overwritten during ROM creation. How can I check this? Can't find the Autorun.exe in the kitchen but after building and flashing it is visible in the Windows folder on the device. There are no duplicate files, triple checked that.
Tried building a new kitchen from scratch, an untouched build (only importing the stock ROM and the 21916 build) didn't have a first boot customization either.
I remember figuring this out on my X1 a year ago was a pain in the a*s. Can't recall where the problem was anyway. I could upload my OEM Packages for you if you'd like to? I'm using a older version of that kitchen anyway so this "could" lead to new problems...
That would be great! Please let me know what kitchen version you used, if there are any problems I can try to roll back to that one.
I PM'd you. Most persons would not know what to do with said files so it makes no sense posting them here I guess...
...
hey dude,
not sure what your problem is if all your config**.txt are there and there is no duplicate files, for me i had a mortscript called "autorun.exe" which obviously overwrote my original autorun.exe and caused my device to do no customisation.
erm, as for not finding your autorun.exe
lots of files in the kitchen are hidden and the windows hidden files toggle does not show all the hidden files for some reason :/
me personally i use ACDSee photo manager 9 to view the files in my kitchen, i then select all the files and untick the 'hidden' properties.
ALL the files you couldnt see in windows explorer are always visable using Acdsee, by unticking the properties with Acdsee, it now makes them visable in windows explorer.
hope you understand what i meen :s
btw, i only use acdsee9 to view my pictures and to change the properties of the files.
i edit all my images with photoshop and paint.

According to my searching results this issue seems to be very rare. Posting the download link here shouldn't harm others.
For osKitchen version number you mentioned in your PM, open the kitchen and use Help -> About. Don't know if this option was present in earlier builds, but at least in 1.33.5 it is.

I wasn't at the stage of using Mortscript in my ROMs yet. Untoggle hidden system files in Windows folder options did the trick, I found AutoRun.exe
Now I'm gonna sit and wait until the download is available...

cool man, but remember:
the windows hidden files toggle does not show all the hidden files.
Acdsee will show them all so none are hidden, trust me

NVM....thought of a some other problem...

Will do.
For the others that might experience this problem, the download link for EXT and OEM packages available here. These packages are untested, but I'm cooking them now. Thanks for the help. Scroll down for the fix.
So I think it's working now?
@All: please be aware, those packages are device-specific and for HTC Kovsky / SE Xperia X1!
Ok, tried replacing the existing packages with those from derliebewolf. Even when left untouched or using different (correct) commands there's still no customization. @derliebewolf, could you upload your "osKitchen.exe" and "Resources" directory for me? It's all I need, I can fill the kitchen from scratch there.
If this turns out to be a kitchen specific problem I won't hesitate posting it in the official osKitchen thread.
This is a pretty complicated problem to give advise.
Just a suggestion, didn't you modified/removed something from your initflashfiles.dat?
I mean the startup.
Compair it with a stock rom if you did and check if something is missing.
On my HD2:
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("ConfigureDevice.lnk","\Windows\ConfigureDevice.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("bugtrap.lnk","\Windows\bugtrap.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("HTCStartUp.lnk","\Windows\HTCStartUp.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("PKG.lnk","\Windows\PKG.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("SignatureReplace.lnk","\Windows\SignatureReplace.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("Welcome.lnk","\Windows\welcome.lnk")

You tried everything possible so I taught maybe this could be possible.
On Xperia it's probably about the same.

You really need to leave the welcome.lnk line in there, or else you won't get the alignment screen and you can't boot the device up.
Found the issue: an incomplete initflashfiles.dat. By adding the lines below to a stock initflashfiles.dat the whole issue has been fixed.
Code:
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("CheckAutoRun.lnk","\Windows\CheckAutoRun.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("AutoShortcut.lnk","\Windows\AutoShortcut.lnk")
Turned out a stock initflashfiles.dat file doesn't have those lines included by default. Thanks to all for the help, expect a new custom Xperia X1 ROM soon.
That's nice to hear, congrats.
Please at [SOLVED] to the topic title and I will link this thread to the solved cases sticky.

Which makes me woder whether those lines are missing in my initflashfiles.dat as well? RunCC is working perfectly anyway... Glad you solved it!
