Download the free WM 2003 version of pointui here http://forums.pointui.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=858
it is amazing a scrolling interface with wrappers for most of the standard functonality. Works like a dream for thos who like the way Iphone scrolls and uses finger rather than pointers. A complete interface
Who ever made this is so f***in brilliant! I wont plan to buy a new device anymore!!!! good thing 2i has a very fast processor!
Any screenshots?
Just installed this on my ageing xdaIIi and its fantastic, xdaIIi meets iphone.
installed in minutes and I havent put it down for over an hour.
re-invented my xda.
well done !
bloody awsome!!!!!!
its sweetttttt on teh magnitue 1000+
i hope they keep up with it and donated to them too
Great New Update
I have waited so long for this. Thankyou,Thankyou.
I want to send money for the first time ever.
Screenshots just do not do this justice, the finger interface using point and slide has to be tried. For those who are curious, just do a search for Pointui and screenshots to see why we are so enthusiastic. Note for best installation you need to install the WM5 version even though it does not run on the XDA2i and then download the WM2003 zip and overwrite the files in the directory created by the wm5 install with the 2003 ones. You can choose whether to go for the Blue or the Black theme when you download the WM5 version, if you choose the black one then dont copy the Home.cdl across as the wm2003 one in the zip has the blue theme in its home.cdl.
That last message seems really complicated to a novice like myself.
I have an XDA 11i - can I just follow the link and let it download to my phone ??
it will run if you just download from http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/1.02b/2003/1/home.ppc2003.zip and unzip in a directory but ideally you should install the WM5 cab first ( http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx ) and then overwrite the appropriate files with the ones from the 2003 zip. Good Luck Rob
I got to this page and now I am baffled - sorry .
http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx
I have a 2003 edit - XDA11i .
I tried the EASY way but without success.
Just get a "Can't execute message ".
Thanks anyway .
OK here goes, click on the link http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx and click on the download icon on the top left of the screen under the word home. Then on the screen that appears click on the button near the bottom that says "download cab installer" Copy the file to the main memory of your XDA and then double click on it. You will see it install. This has installed the WM5 version on the XDA. Next step is to click on this link http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/1.02b/2003/1/home.ppc2003.zip and download the zip file, this is an archive file and will need to be decompressed if you are using windows XP or vista, or a MAC this will be done when you double click on it and you will see 4 files Home.exe, home.cdl, pointui.cdl and pointui.fonts.cdl these 4 files need to be copied on top of the ones installed by the cab file ie select the 4 files and navigate on the xda to Program files directory, then to pointui directory, then to home 1.02b directory and paste in there. Easiest to do for you using windows fie manager while the XDA is syncing as the xda is visible a drive. Hopefully this makes more sense to you.
Very detail walk through & very fast and furious.
There is one problem. wouldn't unlock screen after you lock it. anyone experience it? How to overcome?
You have to swipe your finger vertically down the screen to unlock ie along the line of arrows.
does this work on xda2 aswell
Yes it should work well on the XDA2 give it a whirl as it cannot do any harm
Robsno -thanks very much for taking the time to write the detailed explanation -I really appreciate it.
However I just don't have the knowledge to follow MOST of the instructions .
I will have to wait for a simple CLICK HERE option to arrive - the ones that just load it onto your XDA with no messing.
Sorry but THANKS anyway.

After reading the reviews of this I thought it was about time I had a go at changing the xda2i from the original settings it came with nearly 18 months ago. I have to say it is just like have an iPhone now absolutely fantastic interface. Thanks for the simple instructions. Although after several resets of the xda2i nothing happened until I browsed through the folder structure in Program files\pointui\home\1.02b and clicked the home icon, then it sprang in to life. Anyone should be able to follow your instructions with a little knowledge of how to navigate around the xda2i. Thanks for the tutorial.
just want to say thank you so much, i'd lost my veiwty and was given this peice of cr*p yesterday but after seeing this site following your instructions the whole package is nearly better than my veiwty. thanks
Apologies I should have said go to the Program files\pointui\home\1.02b copy the home icon with windows mobile file manager go to windows\startup and paste shortcut then it will start automatically if you reboot.

I'm struggling... . I have my XDA hooked up to my Vista laptop and everything connects perfectly. Whilst browsing this site I found an iphone skin thing which looks quite impressive. I thought that I'd like to turn my XDA into an iphone so I'd download and install it... . Well, to be honest, I don't really know how to. Are there any idiot-proof guides out there for installing appliations...? I've downloaded the file to my desktop, tried copying it to my program files on my XDA (which works), but when I click on it, it just won't install. Is there some sort of file I need to click on specifically...? Is there a better way of getting this to work...?
Secondly I've been trying to find a T9 input thing. I hate having to use my stylus to send a quick SMS, and would love just to find something which replicates my phone's keypad on the screen, something I could use my fingers on, something on which I could type quickly. Does anyone have any suggestions...?
Thanks very much.
installing pocketpc applications can be don in many ways
2 most common is
1 a cab file which the user click on after transfering it to the pda
2 an exe file which requires to be run of the pc and it use the sync software to copy the cab file to the pda and run it
for t9 try doing a search for phonepad in the forum
not sure if it's compatible with old 2003 but you can give it a go
Thank you for your help! I downloaded this phone pad thing, extracted it from WinRAR to a folder on my desktop and had a look inside. There are no .exe files which I can run from my computer, and no .cab files which I could transfer to my PDA and run.
The first file is setup.xml and then it's a whole series of numbered files which Windows calls 001 file, 002 file, etc... . Any ideas about what I should be doing...? Thank you!

Rather than extract it, you might just want to check whether the phone pad thing itself isn't a .cab
i suspect it is think winrar can assi cabs with it iso files too so dont just look at the icon

Thank you friend :0 It helped me also, I was facing the same kinda situation
Thanks for all your post, I have the same problem and now it has been sorted!
Introdution:
This small app will help you out when you have a bunch of cab files to install after flashing the new rom.
How to use:
1. Select or input a directory that contains a bunch of cab files.
2. Generate the list file that is [INSERT SELECTED DIRECTORY]\batch-list.txt. You can manually edit this file to select which to install.
3. Batch install. It will promot you if you really want to install that file.
Problems:
1. The small utility can not silently install cab files.
Todo:
1. More UI friendly to select the files.
Note:
I am rather new at windows mobile programming. I have learned it from scratch. The whole program uses pure C and winapi, no managed code, no MFC/ATL.
Acknowledge:
Thanks legedug for packaging the cab file.
Copyleft:
The source code is available, anyone can modify it and redistribute it. But you should contain at least a piece of my name in it and should distribute with full source code.
reserved for future.
Or no future.
thank you very much for this tool
Will try it! This will be super good as my P3600i constantly needs a hard reset due to all available roms are for P3600. I'll let you know how this go! Thanks
This will differentiate itself from other similar programs (TierAutoinstall) if it can popup when dialogs are displayed after installs on some cabs.
Tested. I really like it!
No bug so far and here are my findings and suggestions:
1. Yes we need silent installation
2. Pick a directory: this need to pick up sub-directories. My cabs saved in "Storage Card/PDA SW/Common". It won't pick up cab file in "Common" directory.
3. Some cab files require restart - If I choose restart now, it won't resume batch install. (I can choose not to restart now to by-pass it)

First trying, put on \Storage Card\Program Files\CabbatchInstall and make it shortcut to \windows\Start Menu\Programs; it works
So I make it on cab file to put the programs such as above:

Ok, thanks ,I will cab it next time.
I would welcome if this would install silently...otherwise its great because its so simple - no hassle like with sashimi, which is great, but too much work for the first time!
thanks man, this is actually exactly what i needed
im actually gonna flash today so I will your app a run and see how it works
however I have seen other tools like this or there about here on xda which use a combination of code and mort script for the silent install part
quick feedback ..the exit function don't work

Yes, I forget to add it. There is a big OK button to do that.
I fail to make upgrade recently because I don't have visual studio 2008 as in the lab before.
This one is written in pure C. So It can run without any additions.

It can not install things very silently. Because you have to select where to install.
My ambition plan is to parse the XML manually and let it really silent.
Now I don't have a Windows OS and Visual Studio. I will delay upgrade this software.
I have released the source, it is welcome for anyone to help.
Ok so i have tried it a couple of times..and after using the tool from v3patel(see my sig) im sorry.....
v3patel's is mortscript; quick and already allows for a silent install. However, my suggestion fro you to get the silent install working is to have a look at the command he uses in his script and see you can replicate it for your tool....
If it works, i will be more than to hard-reset my device to test...(and it better work lol)
helloworld1
excuse me;
can this be used to install all ones cab file apps etc, after a system hard reset if all cabs are say kept in a pacific folder for that purpose.
thanks
Hey all, seeing as I couldnt find this topic here already, I thought that I would share with you all how to change the system font on our beloved Wizard. It is quite simple really but it does require a few things:
1-A Wizard/MDA/O2 XDA Mini S/Cingular 8125
2-A Truetype style font(they end with file extension .ttf)
3-5 minutes of time
Alright now here is how to do it!
1)-Connect your device to your computer, and let Activesync do it's thing(until the green double-arrow icon in your tray stops spinning).
2)-Click on [Explore], then on "Windows Mobile Based Device", then on "Windows". If you cannot see the "Windows" folder, goto the top of the window and click [Tools] then [Folder Options] then the [View] tab, then scroll down a bit until you find a checkbox that says-"Show Hidden Files and Folders" and make sure that it is checked(or dotted if the case may be).
3)-Now, leave that window open, and go and grab you font. Right click on the font file itself and scroll down to [Rename]. In the field, type "Tahoma" then [OK]. Now, copy that file that you just renamed, and paste it to another directory(such as the desktop so that it is easy to get back to), and rename it to-"TahomaBD" and click [OK].
4)-Now click and drag, or copy and paste those 2 files into the "Windows" folder that you have open from earlier, tell it [Yes] to overwrite the existing files if needed.
5)-Now, soft-reset your device and voila! You have a nice shiny new system font! Wonderful! Now, you may be wondering how to get your old one back, and it is indeed very simple.
6)-To restore the Tahoma font, either download a copy of it from the internet(note that it is NOTE public domain, and it is against the rules to post it here at XDA-Devs), or navigate to your computers "Font" folder and simply copy it to your desktop, and rename and copy it as above, soft-reset again and BAM, back to OEM status you go! You can also just Hard-reset if you get desperate.
Well, thats it! Quite simple eh? Took me about 30 minutes or so to figure it out, but here are some screens to prove that it works!
ROM=TNT 6.1 build 20273
I am currently using a font based of the one used in the Star Trek:The Next Generation TV series, but any Truetype font should work!
I hope someone finds this useful!-ashasaur
Thnaks you

Don’t do that to me.. Because I do contribute when I can.. and I actually have a fix.......
If you didn’t know you could have posted that.. Well here it is..
You need to do two things..
1. Save and zip the file called “PowerOffWarning.exe” from the windows directory
2. Go to the directory that has your psshutxp executable in it and rename the psshutxp.exe to PowerOffWarning.exe.
3. Zip the new “PowerOffWarning.exe” and skin files into a zip file.
4. Execute the zip file and overwrite the “PowerOffWarning.exe” file in the windows directory.
5. Press and hold your power button and enjoy your new shutdown/reset/screen off options.
NOTE: the only reason I choose to do it on long press is because I sometimes quickly want to turn off my screen when putting the phone back into the case. I don’t want to worry or wait for the app to come up and choose an option.
I have attached the two files and they came from a Mogul running WM6.1. If you use these files please backup your device first.

maybe someone can create a cab for me please ;-)
mm with diamond don't go.. any ideas?
Great idea Eazy. I'll be waiting for a cab too...
On my hermes, there is no poweroffwarning.exe, so your solution will not work on all devices.
Just had a quick look at the running tasks, and the warning comes from gwes.exe, which is the 'Graphics, Windowing and Events Subsystem'

Works fine on my Touch Pro.
And, if you use program like Resco Explorer, you can pass the ZIP routine, and go directly to overwriting the .exe .
works on my Trinity 6.1

I'm sorry, I certainly didn't intend to imply any criticism of your work.
For anyone else in my situation, unfortunately the gwes.exe is a vital process, which is always running, and does more than just the power off warning. As there is no standalone app for this warning in my rom, there is no exe which can be replaced.
I made a cab for the method stated.
PsShutXP_Replace.cab is just an automated way of Eazys method on the first page so check that first.
PsShutXP_Diamond.cab is the same method but with the VGA version and a diamond skin from lesteryh
Can this be undone if it doesn't work?
I think there's still the issue where it doesn't work right if you also use S2U2. not sure which ones at fault there.
Works fine on my Vogue running NSFAN's 6.1 Rom. I'm also running S2U2.
I dought the uninstall will work. If you want to go back then read Eazys post on page one and backup the file first.

Hey.. Can I ask you to change up how your cab works.. Just to make things easy.. I have not ventured into how to make cab's yet but will soon..
User:
Install PsShutXP (QVGA/VGA)then run the (not yet created) cab
Your cab:
create a directory under \program files\PsShutXP called Backup
create a directory under \program files\PsShutXP called modfile
copy \Windows\PowerOffWarning.exe to \program files\PsShutXP\backup
copy \program files\PsShutXP\PsShutXP.exe to \program files\PsShutXP\modfile\PowerOffWarning.exe
copy program files\PsShutXP\modfile\PowerOffWarning.exe to Windows\PowerOffWarning.exe and overwrite the file.
copy \program files\PsShutXP\*.gif to \Windows\
and on your uninstall
copy \program files\PsShutXP\Backup\PowerOffWarning.exe to \Windows
This will allow the user to uninstall the program if needed.
I am also using that skin on My Touch pro but removed the text up top that says Touch Diamond.
If you could create that cab it would be greatly appreciated. Until then everyone can just follow the manual process..
Working Devices so far:
Mogul 6.1
Touch 6.1
Touch Pro 6.1
Touch Diamond 6.1
Vogue 6.1
Trinity 6.1

I'll help you out.. I don’t think gwes.exe is the right file for you to be looking at.. How about this.. It seems that when you hold down your power button you get the same type of power off warning box that we do.. How about you go into your windows directors and sort by exe. Then start clicking on each exe until you see the warning box pop up and then you will know which file shuts down your phone. That’s how I found the PowerOffWarning.exe file. Please report back...
There's a thread over at ppcgeeks that I can't find right now, but it said to just copy the psshutxp.exe and paste a .lnk in \Windows\. Then you rename the "psshutxp.lnk" to "Long_Power.lnk". This method doesn't overwrite any exe's and works like a charm on my Touch Pro.
at the time that did not work on my mogul.. if it is working for you then your good.. if it works for anyone else then they dont need to use this process.. i have not tested that on my diamond pro since this worked for me.
I happily own a HD since Thursday after a Diamond and a Pro: HD is far better!!

This seems to be a very great tool but I've only experimented with remapping my calendar.
Disable TF3D
Run SSMaPa.exe from phone
Check Extended Init and press Init
Click on setting and highlight replace calendar
Check "patch enabled"
Under new program type in the path of pocketinformant
-In my case it was /Program Files/WebIS/PocketInformant/PocketInformant.exe
Delete arguments
Type in directory where exe file found
-In my case it was /Program Files/WebIS/PocketInformant/
Click save
Click deploy tab and press deploy patch
Next you will need to copu these 2 files from your TP windows directory using activesync and resco explorer or a similar program to a folder on your PC.
_mpmantoday.dll and _mpman.exe
Next download file editor from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=2721128
Unzip folder to extract files
Once unzipped open Unsign folder and drag your two extracted files one by one over Unsigner.exe. Very quickly a msdos window will open up and it will seem as if nothing has happened but don't worry the files have been modified at this point.
Now just overwrite the 2 files with the same 2 files in your TP windows directory.
Go into your settings and reenable TF3D and you should hopefully have remapped the original calendar app with PocketInformant.
All donations, thanks, beer, coffee, women, kudos should go to Svenso and Schreda over at xda since this was done using their apps and help. I'm not worthy and only a messenger of my good fortune.
Edit: Just in case I've confused people, this is the post that made it all happen http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=208
