Hi,
I noticed that my Hermes very often connects to 3G/GPRS (about every 5 mins). I have PocketWeather installed which is set to update current weather every 60mins and forecast every 4 hrs, so this shouldn't be it. I also use PhoneAlarm.
Anyone has an idea, what could be initiating those connects? Is there some kind of "sniffer" that looks for programs connecting to the inet?

Hello,
I've having problem where as I am unable to connect to T-Mobile GPRS/EDGE on my MDA. I thought it was caused by bad cell connection, but I tested this with my hx4700 and N90 and I always have good connection.
I did some investigation and noticed that the connection was made, but no data can be passed through. After several days of investigation, I can make an accurate assumption that it was the MESSAGING application that is causing it.
I had the Messaging application to check for mail every 15 minutes and it'll automatically do so without fail all day long. But the connection stays on and if I try to connect via Internet Explorer, Weather Panel update, NewsBreak RSS update, or any other IP-based application, nothing get transferred. Even when I disconnect the connection and reconnect.
THe only way to fix this is to SOFT RESET the device.
Anybody know why?
Is anyone not having this problem? I.e. you set Messaging app for auto-check every 15 minutes and your EDGE/GPRS connection ALWAYS work (except in no-cell- signal area), be it for PIE, RSS, SSH, Telnet, etc.
Hi,
My Vario II seems to access the internet of a very reguar basis, using about 10KB every 10 mins.
With this sort of usuage my battery is having a hard time.
Is there any application that can show exactly which program is accessing the Internet ?
.......... so,
Shall I assume there isn't any program that does this ?
Take a look at your ActiveSync and Messaging settings.
Both work on a schedule -- and every 10 minutes sounds like a default to me...
Hi,
i need to set the connection timeout. Every 2 hours it automatcly connetcs to check mails and to update weather forecast and it remains always connected.
I'd like that after 1 minute (for exaple) it automaticly disconnect.
How Can I set it?
Thanks
Is there an application that would auto close all wirelss connections if not in use?
For instance, if I have my email address setup to download messages every hour, I'd like my wireless connection to time-out if idle for 5 minutes.
Can I do that? Is there a program or setting that I could change?
Thanks a lot!!!
google WMLONGLIFE
it will turn off your connections when they are not in use after a user-specified amount of time (15 seconds, 5 mins etc)
Back with my Omnia 2 there was a feature when the screen is off for x amount it would disconnect data automaticly and i had it so my weather app would check weather updates every hour. So in the end every hour data would connect and update the weather and then after 2 minutes disconnect.
During the day i had it so when i opened Opera it would connect to data then and there otherwise was disconnected. Oddly though MSN would stay connect all day without issue.
So wondering if there is a way to disconnect data after like 5 minutes automaticlly and then when i lauch a browser/weather update it then connects. I guess this is the best way to save battery.
