How to disable proxy sync in activesync - Networking

On my work PC I use a proxy server to access the internet. However, since my phone has a separate internet connection, the proxy makes zero sense and of course does not work on my phone. Every time I connect my phone, it inherits the proxy settings from my PC. How do I stop this from happening in the future?
I'm running XP and Activesync 4.5.
Thanks in advance,
-n.

Oh.. i have the same Problem. And i opened a new Thread *upps*sorry*

VPN forgetting its password/settings after activesync :(

ok here is the setup:
domain and exchange setup on a lan with firewalls and vpn gateway.
I have configured the phone to local sync and remote gprs sync.
I have put in exceptions lists to my intranet for my company.com adresses.
it works fine to local sync and after a restart or 2 i can get the vpn connections going.
but after every local sync with AS 4.1 i get a question to re enter my userid and pw for the vpn connection when i´try to remote sync again. its like it foregets it or looses it somehow.
if I enter them again it works..
I have resetted and reinstalled everying 5-6 times always the same story
has anyone had the same problems??
i feel alone here...
Does anyone use vpn on thir WM5.0 devices??
I cant get it to remember the passwords...I am thinking it might be something ralated to AS4.1 but i am not sure...
your not alone lynxlynx, don't be disheartend.
although i can't help i'm sure someone will. just be patient, your not being ignored.

ActiveSync issues with Exchange?

I've been having a problem for the past week in that I could not connect to my Exchange Server or passthru to the Internet with and ActiveSync connection.
At least for the moment, on the Connections menu, clicking on "USB to PC" and disabling "advanced networking functionality" seems to have resolved the problem.
Anybody else run into this?
And what is this advanced networking, anyway?
I've also noticed that Sprite Backup would fail with it enabled, so it seems I've solved two problems at the same time...
i had that issue as well the work around i did was connect to my wifi connect my device to my pc sync then disconnect my wifi
still a pain
I've always just connected straight to the server over GPRS/UMTS. I haven't even installed Active Sync on my new PC.
hi Folks,
i have the same issue with Active Sync. I am using Active Sync for syncronizing emails, contacts etc ... I have discovered if you installed the device (hardreset) then you may able to sync with the exchange for the first time. After that you are not longer able to sync it.
I used different ROM's (Dopod, Qtek,O2) all have the same problem. I am not able to sync over Active Sync (4.2 latest and prior versions) with my exchange server. I need to sync over 3G Network and thats a bit expensive over the time with O2.
I think this device is more than incomplete since i am using a Wizard too and i have no problems with the same pc on my Wizard device.
I hope there will be a ROM update really soon that covers many issues discussed in that board here...
At least i am really disappointed about the device which HTC sold over the market.
Hi
On mine this works! - nevertheless i am using the IP adress - could be a hint for you guys
BR
Daniel
do you mean the IP address from the Exchange Server? Or do you pair your device with static IP addresses? :?:
Well ...
I got mine to work after i discovered that the proxy server i placed under gprs connection denied the connection to the exchange server. switching all to MyISP resolved the issue.
If you use a firewall try to look which address the RAPI Manager tries to connect to. Maybe that helps for you to solve your error.
Hi
I use the IP adress for the exchange Server name. The connection Between laptop and device is negotiated automatically

How do you keep ActiveSync from changing your proxy settings on Wizard?

My wife is using a T-Mobile MDA at work and her job uses proxy to get network access for their desktop computers. We're using T-Mob web plan (T-Zones) and use a proxy setting to access to the internet. But when she connects her phone to her desktop, it changes her current connection to the companies proxy and port info. She really doesn't need to access the internet while connected to ActiveSync, so how do I keep ActiveSync from changing the proxy settings? Or is there a way to have both proxy settings and switch automatically? It seems like Active sync will change the proxy info of whatever connection is set in the phone when connecting. Any advice would be appreciated.

Click to collapse
i think you need to have one setting only!
you can try to disable the advanced network connectivity for the active sync at work! go active sync - file - (make the following settings)
this computer is connected to - work network
uncheck the two boxes below
that what i do for my work computer - hope this useful
best wishes
Thanks... I had the same problem with my HD2 but your tipp is working for me... nevertheless, as long as my ohone is connected via USB to my work computer the GPRS connection is down, so I can't receive mails or surfe the internet with my phone and its normal GPRS connection - any ideas how to do something about this?
I use my ActiveSync at work to synch the Outlook calender entries but also to charge the batterie at the same time. Until I used your settings I had to modify the proxy settings (delete proxy) every time I disconnected the HD2 from the PC. Now that this is solved I would like to use the time having my phone connected to the PC to use the internet as well - as it is working when it's only connected in harddisk mode...
Thanks in advance!

Setting up VPN with WM 6.1 Pro and Vista Home Premium

Hey folks! I need some help setting up VPN. Here's what I want to do: I want to be able to connect to my PC through Internet (HSDPA Connection. NOT Wireless LAN!!!!!) and access the network shares on my PC. Okay, now I believe the only way not involving a HTTP Server on my PC would be to set up a VPN network. What I have done so far is configuring Vista. I set up the VPN Server. I think almost nothing can go wrong, because the only setting that I'm prompted for is Username/PW to allow... ANyway so I did this, and a friend of mine managed to connect. So I think the Vista-Part is okay. Now when I try to do it with my mobile, I FAIL. I did setup the VPN Connection in the Connections menu, and then I find the connection in the list and I tap-and-hold it and choose connect, and then it SEEMS the phone is trying to connect, at least it establishes the HSDPA Connection if it's not ready. But nothing more happens. No errors, no warnings, no indicators, nothing. Resco Explorer can't see my PC and my PC doesn't show an active VPN Connection either. I've already tried to alter the settings of the VPN Connection on my mobile and I think I've had them in almost every possible constellation but it simply won't work. Can someone help me and explain how to do it please? Your efforts would be very much appreciated!
Nobody? I really need this

VPN connection from WM6 to XP Prof.

Hi everybody,
after googling through a lot of forums for some weeks now, I learnd a lot about VPN with WM6, setting up a VPN Server and all of this stuff.
But nowhere was a solution for my special problem...
I have an XP-Prof Server in my network, wich is set up as a VPN Server . It is behind my AVM Fritzbox 7270 where all the port-forwardings vor PPTP (GRE and port 1723) are done.
When I connect from the "outer world" using an XP or Vista machine, everything works fine.
But: When I connect from my Handheld (Samsung B7610 Omnia Pro), the connection is dropped after round about a minute.
Within this minute, I can start a Remote-Desktop-Session etc and everything seems to be alright until the connection gets lost.
There is no other connection been started (except my normal internet connection through "web.vodafone.de") , and Active Sync is set to "manual", so it can't disturb my VPN session.
Is there anyone with an idea what I can do to get my VPN working???
Thanks in advance,
Joschi
is your main goal to do VPN
or to do Remote-Desktop ?
if the later I would suggest vnc rather then ms's options vnc is free and generally works better imho
Hi Rudegar,
and thanks for your reply.
First of all, I want to get access to my Files, located on my server.
Remote-Desktop would be nice but is not a must have...
But thanks for the tip. I'll try VNC. However, I fear that the lost connection
hasn't anything to do with RDP. Even when i just connect without using any tool the connection gets lost within one minute.
Do you have any idea?
In some other threads I read about stopping ActiveSync and adding IP-Exceptions. But none of all solved my problem.
