Hi!
I have just seen this amazing program.
http://www.smithmicro.com/default.tpl?group=product_full&sku=QLMCWXX
To see photo, video and play music.
Bad news, we have to pay if we want to see it.
I am searching but...no free?
Do you like??
I want it!! free, of course.
$30? LOL
I'll wait until someone on this site codes a clone for free.
Nice stuff though.... but not nice enough to shell out $30.
well, you should brake into a car or someone's house and steal their phones. maybe someone has it on their device....
...so stupid.

It is pretty stupid that they don't offer a free trial download to try it out. I'm definitely not going to pay $30 for something that I don't even know what it's like. No thank you.

Maybe its because they don't want people to rip off their product without paying for it.

i don't know about this "revue software" and the description of what it does is not very clear to me, but i have tested another tool that does the same thing (i suppose. i'm french so my english is not perfect) named trakax on a htc vox and it seemed fairly good for a slow device (200 cpu) and non-tactile.
it should be very cool on a decent pdaphone with good cpu.
go here : http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/
it costs 30 again, but you have a free demo to test it.

I agree, it may be difficult, but when you see someone asking for a copy of a retail piece of software on here, insisting they have it for free, (as if that's a right), then find a near identical request on a warez site asking for the crack for the same software, its not difficult to see where that activity would lead to if we all took that stance.
WB
I don't have a problem paying for the apps that we use on our devices and i'm willing to pay a whole helluva' lot more but we should @ least have the trial option to see if it's worth it or even if its compatible with our devices. Most developers give you that trial because they stand by their product and they know it'll sell itself once the word gets out, so maybe them not giving a trial offer says something about their product. Just my opinion.
I've done trials of and loved:
Resco Exlorer
Memmaid
AEButton
Ultimate Launcher
Vito Screen Capture
Phone Weaver
...And paid for:
Resco
Memaid
AEButton
UL
Vito
Phone Weaver
It wouldn't even occur to me to use a cracked copy. Weird since I've used warez for some windows PC software, but being on a forum like this you see how the programmers are good people, just like me (only smarter) and it puts a face to the theft and I wouldn't consider doing it. Now I don't do cracked stuff for PC software either. I guess its part of growing up.
Anyway, I think there are a lot of ppl like me that if they like a trial they will be HAPPY to buy it.
I have just found this video!
Hi
I found a video of Revue.
It seems to be fantastic even with an application to manage the files with the PC!
http://my.smithmicro.com/wireless/revue/Revue324_121807_OffLn.wmv
I want to test this program for my HTC Touch, but I canĀ“t download it from anywhere.
Anyone has this program?
Can you tell me if it is fast and useful?
Anyone knows where can I download Revue?
Thank YOU ALL
I just took a quick glance at the site you listed and looks like something I used to use on my Palm, I think you can use this for free, don't completely remember, but know I never paid for it. I remember now, you have to keep your pc online and you can access it for free, think that was the deal, and you had to pay to store your files online to access them while your pc was offline.
Anyway to the point its Avvenu, check it out.
Log Me In may be the same.
Caragato!!
Please NOT SPAM HERE!!!
So is this basically streaming media from your computer but with lots of organization options?
How is it not like Orb?
It is a finger friendly software just like iphone to see media on our pocketpc.

Since when is giving a gift stealing???? Do you not think that there prevails a wee bit too much paranoia as propagated by software developers???
As far as I am concerned, giving someone software with the registration key constitutes a gift and not stealing, provided the person giving it paid for it. Does that make sense?
Incidentally, philinhot did ask for a FREE remote app did he not? Then along comes good samaritan gldrush98 and suggests one that costs money!!!
Come now guys, let's not get too paranoid about this.

well did the programmer put in the EULA that you could gift your key away? doubt it
he did ask for a freebie, then someone informed of some good payware... then philnot asked for the key...
this isnt a warez board, most of the people on this board are developers.. and i am sure the ones that develop software and sell for a price wouldnt be happy about having their software stolen... im not saying i dont do it myself, i have the knowledge on where to search to find what i need, but i dont post crap like that on this board, this isnt the place for it, its disrespectful to the dev's on this site, and its NOT what this site is intended for...
if philnhot101 would have never asked for the key in public then this conversation never would have happened...
Ur right about the Wizard's IR range - I tried Novii, it works perfectly, but the Wizard's poor IR range lets it down and renders it useless

A quick warning: warez, serial numbers etc. will be moderated out at once.
I use novii, it works fairly well. I use it for my TV, Macbook Pro, Comcast cablebox and Xbox 360.
The range varies between each one. Surprisingly, the cheapest electronic I have is my tv which is a 27" Apex, which I can change channels/volume from up to 7 feet away. My macbook is also fairly good.
The others, not so good. My cablebox is only about 5 feet away. The Xbox varies for some reason. Sometimes I hit it from about 6 feet away, sometimes I can't even turn it on from 3 feet away.
Just wondering, but does Novii come with IR profiles pre-installed? It'd be nice if I could use it for my 360 since I really don't feel like buying a $30 remote just for the heck of it.

Hey Mark, give this program another shot. While the range on the IR does suck, Novii has worked with Texas Instr to add drivers that (somehow) boost the IR range for this prog. No kidding, I was able to control TV, DVD and Tivo from across the room. Only problem is the width of the beam is horrible, so you have to point your wizard directly at the IR receiver, but could still be useful for some folks out there.
West87, yes it does include preloaded profiles for many components--My Samsung DVD player, Philips TV and Tivo all worked with the built-in profiles. 500 more can be downloaded from their website as well.

Well, to be completely honest, I was using a trial of the 4.0 pre-release version, not 4.1. That may have something to do with it as well...I'll try looking for a trial of 4.1 or 4.2 and see if its any better/worse.

i dont want to take sides but its not so much stealing its more breaking the terms of copyright. Most peices of software are licensed for 1 machine only so even if someone gives u the software and the legit key then thats break copyright law so its a type of theft. If someone had an application for remote control etc and the terms of the licence didn't specifiy the number of machines it had to run on then that would be fine. Sorry to be a pain just wanted to clear that up
I'm wondering what the experience has been for people using Opera 8.6. I installed the free beta version months ago, which is working, and I'm wondering if it is worth it to buy the latest retail version.
Any Opera users care to comment on their experience?
Generally I find this a good browser but there a few problems which I must mention:-
1) One cannot configure it to store its Cache to SD card. There are ways around this but nothing out of the box.
2) For large web pages with graphics and annimations vertical scrolling becomes really painful as the page does not scroll smoothly with the vertical bar. This gets really really annoying at times.
3) There is a slight lag between pressing of a link and the browser responding. You tend to press the link repeatedly thinking the browser has not responded and then it hangs. However this is something you soon get used to so not that much of a problem.
4) Quite often it does not load the page fully and gets stuck towards the last bits of the page. This is more so for pages with annimations. The progress bar gets stuck when the page has almost been downloaded and only a small percent is left. You then have to refresh the page and usually the 2nd attempt gets you through the full page.
4) The worst problem for me which has really limited its use is that once you have used this it stops some other programs to start and you have to soft-reset. Typical examples are Netfront, Planmaker and Textmaker. After using Opera and having killed it these programs will often not start without a soft-reset.
As I said at the start it is still a good browser and so I am not mentioning the good things but these are just the glitches which seriously mar the user experience of an otherwise good product. In fact though I have a registered version I find myself using it less and less and prefering Netfront over it simply of some of the annoying bugs I mention.
Regards
I agree with smrz completely, and have suffered from the issues outlined, but I'd like to add:
- Opera 8.6 can't handle some pages very well (I'm thinking of the Yahoo pages where you need to log in). It just doesn't render them in any sort of useable fashion.
Having said this, I still use it as my main browser, and find that in combination with PIE, then I can do pretty much everything I want on the web.
Cheers,
Steve.

Open opera.ini file, go to [User Prefs]. At the end of that paragraph, write that ligne
Cache Directory4=\Storage Card\x with x the folder you choosed for cache on your SD.
For french roms, Storage Card must be replaced by Carte de Stockage
Opera is not perfect, but is largely better than other mobile browers...
Thanks for the input. I'm not sure I will pay for the retail version at this point.
Re: the difference between beta version and latest retail version, I'm sure there are many and would depend on the beta version. Main one that comes to mind is that I understand the retail version has a tabbed browser interface while my old beta version does not.
I wonder if Opera mobile will ever support Java?
opera 8.5/8.6 does not support java & javascript?
what about vbscript?
Where do we copy the opera.dll
I am running a trial version. Have the cracked opera.dll file. Where do I copy this to in order to prevent the 30 days to run up?

Here's an idea: how about *paying* for it? I mean, it's only $24 or about 2% the RRP of an HTC Universal. Don't try to kid yourself that circumventing anti-piracy measures is anything other than stealing. If you use a cracked copy, you are a theif.
I agree I always buy software. I have 50+ apps on my IIs and all are paid for you, shouldn't try and steal money from hard working developers who are trying to make a living.
I am finding Opera 8.60 retail to be AWESOME!
In fact, I ditched the JasJar some months ago and have been using a JAM for some time. I only bought a new JJ cos of Opera on VGA. It's rendering most pages such as my online banking (which PIE cocked up completely), it zooms perfectly, and it's just amazing! If WM5 had come out with a decent broser on day one it would have driven operator ARPU's and internet usage. Now I have google with me wherever I go. I kind of had it on my JAM, but not really with that crappy low res screen.
This is a no brainer app and worth every cent!
Piracy
Nice thinking and have no objection. But if you got something for the first time you simply dont go about splashing money around. It is only fare that I want to make use of it, see & decide. If you check 8.6 is not the latest version it is an old version. By paying I would now be getting v9 (see I checked it and am planning to) but need to see if it is what I need / want.
Stereotyping aint really good. Peace anyway....
PS: Besides doing this kind of stuff is always the best way of learning the logic, structure of how a device works. And that is my main interest in these stuff. Not getting all for free. Thanks for your comments anyway...

I'm using Opera on the trial. 30 days is plenty of time to make your mind up. If you don't really use it enough to make up your mind in that time, then don't buy it. If you do, buy it. $24 really is next to nothing for a product. That wouldn't a decent sandwich, cake and a cup of tea!

They provide a trial for that purpose. If they didn't, I still wouldn't agree. Afterall, I can't try out a holiday before I buy it and if I don't like the terms, I can simple boycott the product.

I'd hardly call it stereotyping. Stereotyping is painting a group with a broad brush and, in doing so, encompassing more than rightfully fit the description. However, calling all pirates theives is not stereotyping as all piracy is theft.

I know I'm on a very high horse here, but I cannot and will not tolerate piracy. It *does* hurt people (developers, distributers, support staff, everyone in the chain and their families) and they only reason why it's not as widely regarded as wrong is because everyone knows they will more than likely get away with it. Steal Opera is no better than stealing a wallet or an item of jewellery or anything else. It's ALL theft.
I'm using an early beta that does not have the 30 day limit.
Am I stealing?
The reason I posted the question is because I am not averse to paying for a good finished product. It seems craigiecraig4 (if I have the name spelled right) would say that Opera 8.6 is a good finished product.
That is the type of opinion I was soliciting.
I think anyone who has a beta version of software on there device have in a way paid for it because they put there device on the line to test the product.

Dude - your articles are GREAT! Going thro many of your past posts now...keep it up!
In the carputer world (mp3car.com) they have an app the searches for the cheapest gas prices using the internet. It would be really nice to have this app on my Tynt. Does anyone know of a wm verison os this software? If not, can someone create one? This tool would be super useful.
That is a stupid idea. It would have to be updated every 5 minutes. Have you got the time to be typing ingas prices for the whole world every 5 minutes?
The name of the app and a link to it would be appreciated
I guess creating a ppc client for the 'gas-price-database' is not a big problem. The question is, if the original authors would alllow such a port. I presume you must have a subcription to download the gasprice data?
A easier solution would be a webpage tough, since you need to go online anyway to get the latest data...
Here's a webpage that works.

There is also an Apple osx widget which provides this information... see here for the link. According to the website, they are pulling their data from "Gas Price Watch" a company which may allow for a PPC app to poll/pull the same data.
The data is out there (at least in the US) and accessible for free to Mac Users .. so no reason it should not be accessible for PPC users too.
So is it doable? With gas prices in the rise again, it would be nice to know where the cheapest gas is. Anyone down to code this one out?

Admittedly, it's not an "app," but... Why not just open your phone's browser, go to GasBuddyToGo.com and enter your zip? Yeah, an app would be cool. But, at least GasBuddyToGo.com gives you a way to do it, until someone comes up with the app...
See ya!

Hello.
I have a week to present my homework, an app for WM5/WM6.
Description:
Two screens.
Screen one: a Calendar showing one month and arrows to move to other months. And a button to take you to screen two.
Scrren two: a list of whatever (let say, accesories for X7501 currently on stock) that feeds of a DB. And a button to go back to screen one.
So basically is creating a DB (item, stock) and a calendar.
I would need you to give me:
1. The code with commentaries (*/this is the button to change month*/ etc).
2. Your paypal account
Who can do it? For how much?
Thanks!
dude that is so cheating. why you gonna pick building an app for wm if you dont even know how to build one.
Hello.
1. The teacher was not supposed to ask that of us.
2. I know how to make an app, but not that one. I can make basic stuff, like coin toss, dice roll, among other stuff. I could learn to program that, but I do not have time, I sleep like 4 hours a day... learning to do that would mean 10 hours.... I don't have 10 hours.
3. I'm not going to live by making apps for WM.
4. Somebody could use some extra dollars. And some might even enjoy building that.
I don't think it's such a bad Idea.
Well.... once again, any one can help me with that simple app?
Regards.
Maybe you should've started this a lot longer before the deadline? I can't really poke holes given that I had to do a 3 minute composition (for my music GCSE) in one night...

All:
I'm asking for help, and expecting replies about "I can help" or "here's this links that will help" or a Private Message with something along those lines.
I know you can reply with "that's wrong", but could you please not obstaculize?
And could you please not reply with "it's better for you to learn" because it's not and you do not particularly care about me learning to build a DB or a calendar.
And it's not like I'm a greedy student who offers $5 or $10 USD. It's a job and it's better paid.
Once again.... anyone that might be kind enough to help?
Regards.
I'm curious as to how much you're willing to pay. A low-level code monkey can probably get $20/hr. You're better off looking at how tene implemented PCM calendar (or similar).
huh? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/obstaculize
Sorry, English is not my first language.... I meant something like "not-help", not as much as deter, restrain, discourage... just like being an obstacale...
I'll prefer to let the programmer set the price for the job done, not by the hour of course... and then we'll talk about it.
But probably it will be way more than $20 per hour of real efficient work.
Go download eMbedded Visual Basic from the MS Website:
Not that I want to discourage developers getting money, but the fact is, the two things you are discussing (Forms and calendar) are already available as code samples in eMbedded Visual Basic. Most, if not all developers know this...
So basically, if your teacher doesn't understand that making this project is as simple as writing your own name, than it won't matter whether you cheat or not. Besides, you will still have to make the program yourself, even with the two code samples.
The calendar is called DateTimePicker
And from memory, the page sample is just called Form
Hope This Helps
This is just a Test to show you what i have made..if this is the kinda stuff you want..send me the details for the About page
NOTE : This requires Internet Connection to be activated before Starting the application
See attached
Jadel:
Well now there's some help. It actually got me started with the calendar and the app itself.
You can watch progress here http://www.tech-medellin.com/TempUploads/advance.wmv
Ather90:
And that's even better. More like I was hoping for, unfortunately I lost hope with first replies and started myself.
Any way, perhaps you could help me with accesories. I've watched what you did and it's great, but not what I'm looking for... although I could add it...
The teacher asked for a database stored in the app (not updatable nor modificable by user). A list must be created based on the DB. I would fill it with data (I actually sell devices and accesories)
Can you help with that? For how much?
Thanks!
im sorry but i dnt know a thing abt Databases

The android app, CompareAnywhere, will use your phone's camera to read a barcode on any item you may find in a store, then does a price comparison on other retail stores or online stores.
Is there any WM6.1 apps out there that does this too?
hmmm...
i was wondering the same thing after i saw the commercial, and did some research on the dream. that would be a cool app for my vogue. im going to do some more research to see if we can make it happen.
i have someting like that for the vouge
what exactly is it that u have? wat does it allow u to do?
do a search for iNigma reader
Never mind I attached it for you...
that app doesn't do anything but download other programs if they have a barcode.... unless I'm doing something wrong

This only scans 2D bar codes (sema codes). The bar code on products are all 1D.
Thanks anyway...
this would be a great app and i've been looking for something like it too. found one close, but you have to enter upc manually. google can already do that. good luck!
I might be interested in writing an application like this for Java micro edition. I thought about doing something like this for Android but was discouraged when I found that there was already someone doing it.
If I wrote this, I would develop it in such a way that it could be run on any J2ME compliant device.
Who'd be interested if it were offered free of cost?
Who'd be interested if it were not free?
bar codes

Right, but this is just another Android App similar to CompareAnywhere, which at this time we can't use as the camera functionality is not working yet
ap

Not quite... scanlife appears to only support 2D codes (semacode, EZcode, etc), and it just simply takes you to the web site that this code contains (provided that it is indeed a web site).
What I'm looking for is a scanner for 1D barcodes, encoded in UPC-A (vertical lines with numbers at the bottom).
I want something that takes these UPC barcodes and have the program automatically search Amazon or other online retailers for price comparisons. So if I go to a local Best Buy and see a router on sale, I can simply scan the barcode at the back, and see if there's another online retailer that have it for cheaper.
So far, I only see Android with this capability (they have 2 apps that does this actually).
Thanks for keeping an eye out though.
1D Barcode Lookup
I have this running on my Touch Pro and it's been pretty accurate with the barcodes of the things on my desk (kleenex box, empty coffee can). I haven't tried it "in the field" yet.

TouchPro has 3.2 megapixel AF
Vogue has a 2.0MP (no info on AF, but I think it is fixed focus...)
I could not get barcodes recognized with barcorama, however I only tried with one UPC sticker and not under the best light conditions.
If anyone else gets it work, let us know
Hey xDarKnighTx,
Microsoft worked on that concept a while ago and stopped further development.
Just google "AURA" with the words barcode.
I don't know much more about it, although some discussions relating to AURA seem promising.
Cheers
I'm extremely interested free or not!
