Ok, I'm having a little problem with my default sip, on a newly installed WM6 rom on my MIO A701 (found here).
I can only use a HTC phone pad, which is available somewhere on the net ^^ It's the only one that has a good cellphone-esque layout AND all portuguese symbols.
I'm having a lot of trouble setting the Phone Pad as a default On WM5, I used IMSelector or SipChange and it would end up working fine. Right now, SipChange isn't doing anything, and IMSelector is on the same boat (the only version I found was the WM5 one). Right now, I can't even use Phone Pad, because every time I try to change the keyboard it automatically switches back to the default windows one. Although I did get to use phone pad right after I installed it, so it does work on WM6.
So, is there any other way of changing the default keyboard on WM6? I really need this keyboard working, and didn't really want to switch back to WM5
Thank you.

Try SKtools, there one function to switch in the start of the system to your favorite keyboard!
edit the link in autostart folder and rise the timeout value (if you use sk tools). in sipchange you can set the timeout directly in the programm. i had the same problem on wm6 setting phonepad as default.
Thank you, that did the trick

I tried to set the Phone Pad as the default input method by following the instructions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other
Set default SIP
The default SIP on practically every device is the Keyboard. You may prefer entry with a different SIP. If so, you can set this to be the default SIP through:
HKCU\ControlPanel\SIP\DefaultIM = |SIP ClassID|
The |SIP ClassID| will depend on the SIP's ClassID, which may vary per-device. You can find the correct ClassID by searching for "IsSIPInputMethod" in HKCR, then going to the top key and checking the name of the SIP that's in the (Default) value.
Please note that this doesn't work with all SIPs. Transcriber/Calligrapher are two examples of this.
You can, however, set Transcriber as the default SIP by starting Transcriber.exe on startup. (This should be moved to, or added to, non-registry Tweaks page)
WARNING: Do not assume that the below ClassIDs would be -as found- on your device! Setting it to a non-existant SIP may prevent your device from booting up!
Howevere, when I did a soft reset, the screen turned white which means that the settings did not work and I hard to hard reset. Is there any other way to get Phone Pad to be the default SIP.
Have you tried Sipchange?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56053&highlight=sipchange
search the registry for "Phone Pad" to find the classID to make sure what you put in is correct. the wiki just assumes what the class id is from previous wm5 phones.

alright it works now:
use this program if you have yet to do so:

and follow the instructions there, including using the " when it calls for.
now i have phonepad set as default all the way
Dear all, sorry to hijack but can someone enlighten me to how I can get the phonepad SIP into the 838Pro? I tried installing PhonePad_Magician_Generic_WWE_RC12.CAB and PhonePad_WM5_StrongARM.cab but it does not work after a soft reset.

There are 2 phonepad CABs here, english and international versions.
@vapor:
yeah, I'm working on a version of SIPChange that will set and manage its own startup shortcut as well as allow you to change the default timeout. Getting the startup shortcut correct is one of the biggest headaches with my little app... I haven't had a lot of free cycles to devote to it lately though.
don't edit registry. it will need hard reset.
use program sipchange 1.1 or phoneAlarm

Just wondering if there is a very basic phone pad skin available for the M3100...
Just a single line for the number, maybe 2 if the number is too long so the digits don't get too small...
Large buttons for numbers, no video buttons etc just numbers, no need for the TALK/END sort of stuff as the hardware green/red buttons work fine..
Just looking for something that people with wide fingers can use without a stylus....
If there isn't one, what do I need to do to create one ??
Searched the forum but can't really find anything of use on the subject.
Many thanks Phil
I found that the vista theme on Paulya.com worked wonders for this:
http://www.paulya.com/etenskins.htm
http://www.paulya.com/Projects/Eten_Skins/Vista/Vista_Trans/Vista_Trans_Origin.zip
I am tempted to go back to this dialer as it was so good on my Wizard - just lacks a video button.
Hi, Thanks for that.... Managed to get the skin to work that is included with the eten dialer... I also downloaded the eten_ans etc .zip and put it in the windows dir on the phone after extracting it.. can't seem to find how to enable it (am I thick or something... Don't answer that !!)
The only thing I didn't do was use active sync... I copied the extracted file to my memory card then copied them over from that as the PC I'm at, at the moment doesn't run activesync 4 or higher (horrible win98 se machine..
Any comments much appreciated
Phil
I jast ran the cab file from my storage card and it installed perfectly. I did have diffulculty installing additional skins though.
Hi Phil,
There is a CAB on the FTP here which gives you the phonepad software EXACTLY like in older HTC phones: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/Phone Pad - English Only.CAB
I installed it and it's great!

Hi sorry to be thick
ok i downloaded the buzzdev.net qvga dialer
but how does one install it. Do i just run the cab via activesync or run it on the vario2 or what sorry about the stupid questions
also i download the splash screen stuff from there too how do i make that appear instead of the default tmobile one when starting up
thanks
JEREMY
Just stick it onto your device, tap it to load it, install and then when prompted reboot (just hit OK and it'll do it) - the PIN entry screen remains the same, but the main dialer screen changes.
It looks very nice, and I'd use it all the time - except there's no way to use the T9 dialing feature which the regular dialer offers (where you can just type the name of the person you wish to call and it shows all valid entries from the list, so e.g. if I wanted to call my Mum - whose entry is Mum, ironically - I'd type 6-8-6 and then hit Dial). It's quite sad to see that this feature is missing, probably for a good reason as it does cause a fair bit of slowdown on my phone - more than on my old Alpine! - but I still use it all the time and I'm going to have to uninstall the skin because I really neeeeeeeeed that feature. :/
ok if I wanted to get the original tmobile dialer back then all I would have to do is uninstall it then? cool
how would I install the splash screen then?
Jeremy
Vijay55,
I installed it OK, the large buttons are awesome, however I have had the following problems:
1) DTMF (Tones) don't work properley when accessing voice mail etc (UK T-mobile) or any other press x application
2) Jog Dialer not active
3) No Smart dialling
Am I doing anything wrong?
Have had to pull it off becasue of the DTMF problem, I've installed it, removed it, rebooted, changed the options etc, nothing seems to fix it.
Fixed it!!
Though I am now using the Eten dialler with smart dial support and one of Paulya's Dark Blue Glass skins.
Editing the registry and setting the value to 0, then soft reboot and dtmf tones are working.
Setting it to 0 wasn't the obvious choice, and previously I hadn't soft rebooted.
Found the following from dhushy in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276700
Worked it out. For anyone with a similar problem, use the registry editor to locate the following key:
HKLM,"Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL","EnableDTMFSupport",0x0 0010001,1
Change the value from 1 to a 0 and Bob's yer Uncle (for non-British readers that means everything will be cushty - see Only Fools and Horses for a contextual translation)
Did this and I was able to manipulate my voicemail messages as normal.

Here what for me renders a PocketPC Phone a TRUE telephone….
I introduce to you:
PhoneBoost
After to have installed it, what “happens here” to the “Telephone”
1) The keys are moved (tnks to the Eten plugin) ALL Version
2) The keys come magnified (tnks to the Eten plugin) ALL Version
3) Enabled vibra-feedback when a numerical keys are pressed ALL Version
4) Disabled the delay of three second before the phone ring! ALL Version
5) Installed “SmartDial” (by HTC) for a fast search of the contact to call ALL Version
6) Now you can skin the dialpad! (simply create an image of the keyboard and copy it in the Windows folder) ALL Version
7) Incoming Call PopUp is magnified ALL Version
8) Removed "SMS Sent" notification bubble ALL Version
9) Installed a GPRS connection Enabler/Disabler (MoDaCo's NoData) ALL Version
10) Enabled GPRS Disconnect button in the bouble when connected ALL Version
11) Installed "ZoomSMS" (an Eten's app to display on Today the missed calls and the unread SMS. It also open the received sms in a proper (magnified) windows Only in the FULL Version)
12) Installed "Scenario" (an Eten's app to change the phone's profile. You can access to this program from the icon in the Today's Taskbar or from an icon in "Programs" Only in the FULL Version)

If you dont like it, you can use the original ETEN skin
(look the images in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=930266&postcount=1)
Simply install my PhoneBoost, soft-reset the device, after install my "Eten Skin Patch" and softreset again!
Skin is only for Protait mode....in Landsape mode u always use the standard WM5 skin!
...Some screen-shot:
> ONLY for WM5!
> Moto Skin support only Portrait mode, however if you use Landscape mode you can use SmartDialing w/ the original WM5's skin
> Only qVGA display (no square, no vga, etc..)
> The dial pads (Portrait/Landscape/Skined/etc..) do not have a "Video Call" key, however PhoneBoost also work on the 3G devices!
> After install, you must Soft-Reset the device!
Note:
For some reasons, i have added this other two registry-tweaks:
- System Registry, form HIVE, are now FILE-based
- All the WM5's "Security Restriction" are now OFF

MAYBE....last version relased......
i am sorry for my question, but does it really boosts phone performance (speed, response)? On which devices and AKU versions it is tested ?
it "boost" the WM5 phone adding some useful function......
tested on a HTC P3600 (WM5, AKU 3.3), an Asus P535 (WM5 AKU 3.3) and the WM5 Emulator....
I extracted an updated build of Phone Pad from one of the latest GPS WM5 ROMs and created an installation file for your pleasure. I've had it installed on WM6 for a couple days now and I have not had any problems with it freezing or not displaying the phonepad text input (which was a problem on some of the previous versions of WM5). Let me know if it works out for you. And if it doesn't... well, there's probably not much I can do about it anyway.

Within Phone pad tap and hold the sym/opt button for about two seconds; or from the Start menu open Settings, Input, select Phone Pad and tap options. Then tap the Languages tab to access the different language databases. This will only change the predictive text database, not the keyboard layout.
Found it..
Thanks for your help.
Now I only need to find out how I change the keyboard layout.
Thanks again.

You may want to try LVSW's 2.0.1.1 ROM (2007-05-27), because it seems to work without problems on that one.
Hi, after downloading this file do you have to open the disk utilty as normal land activesync it across or do you have to drop it all onto my minSD and open from the device? Seeing as there is no disk utlity guessing its the latter?
Thanks
Hi, to me it works perfectly with udk WM6 2.01 LE (Italian).
The only problem I have is that after I select the Italian language (and it works fine), if I restart the Trinity it comes back to the English...
Any idea on how to set the Italian language as default?

Thanks in advance...

In my trinity, works fine. No problems till now
That is amazing, it is exactly what I was looking for.
I almost bought the SPB Keyboard but I didn't like that it only showed one line of text, the Phone Pad is exactly the right trade off in losing screen realestate vs bigger buttons.
I was looking at where it came from to see if a duch dictionary would be possible and saw in the about that it is from HTC themself, WHY on earth did HTC not put the Phone Pad on the Touch as a standard input method?
Found it already

Ok, responding to myself, I just found how to have this keyboard again!!
Apparently the keyboard is there all the time, at least in the roms that I've tested but the cookers don't enable it!!!
On the other day, accidentally I saw a cab on the Cloudy's rom that was to enable the "old" M$ keyboard.
I was (and I'm still) not using Cloudy's rom but decide to try if it works. Install it and puff there it was in all is glory!!!
Here is the link for that cab,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5410858&postcount=278
Many thkx to Cloudy for this one and a hands down to the rest of the cookers for hiding this feature. Worst than hiding is not to give a cab for this as I many times asked for it...
Fifty thumbs up. I've even posted a thread asking for this months ago. Just did a hard reset and decided to try my luck.
I have been in hell with the other keyboards. This is the missing piece for me.
Cheers to cloud and you, OP.
