Activesync skips calendar and contacts - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

One day, for some reason, Activesync has been ignoring any new contacts and calendar items that I've added to Outlook. It will sync Notes and Tasks, but not the others.
I uninstalled and reinstalled AS4.5, but that didn't help. I have even gone as far as to reflash with both wm5 and wm6 roms, still no dice.
When it starts to sync for the first time, it will show "Contacts 0/210" then sit there and then just leave a checkmark and advance to the next item "Calendar 0/84", then the same, until it gets to Notes, Tasks and Favorites where it goes 0/20, 1/20, 6/20 and so on until it syncs all those items.
I'm kind of at a loss here. Now I have a reflashed phone with no contacts on it, which sucks. I'm at my wits end, does anyone have any idea why activesync is skipping my contacts?

Also, when I first sync, I get blank entries in Outlook, one for every legit entry. I had 210 blank contacts for 210 legit contacts, 84 blank calendar items for 84 legit ones, and so on.

I ended up "fixing" the problem by installing PocketMirror. Still odd, though.

Syncing problems with WMDC

Just wondering if anybody can help me with a syncing problem I've been having since linking my phone to Vista (and hence Windows Mobile Device Centre). When I sync my calendar it says it cannot sync one particular appointment (which I know was a recurring one). However the appointment doesn't appear in my Outlook calendar or my phone calendar. Is there any way I can remove this "phantom" appointment and hence get everything syncing again? I have tried removing the calendar from being part of the data and then adding it again, but that didn't seem to do anything (despite all my appointments being removed).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ian

ActiveSync and Google messed up my contacts

I have set ActiveSync (Exchange) to sync with my GMail account, and I'm positive I've ticked only the mail checkbox. Today, all out of sudden, it synced contacts too, so now I have a bunch of unwanted contacts, both on my GMail account, and on my phone, not to mention that contact pictures are messed too.
On Manila ActiveSync settings page, contacts checkbox is off but disabled (greyed out). On WM ActiveSync settings, contacts under Exchange are turned on.
This is not the first time it has happened to me. First time I thought it was my fault, but now I'm sure it's not. Has anyone had a similar problem, and knows the solution? The bug is really annoying.
Well, I didn' have the exact situtaion but something similar.... I use MS Myphone and ActiveSync to synch my Google contacts. Somehow, i ended up with duplicate contacts and some cases 3-4 copies. Here's what I did to resolve it:
*On the HD2, Delete the Activesync(exchange) account.
*On the HD2, Delete Myphone acct
*On the HD2, Delete the pim.vol file (located in root of the device). You can back this file up just incase.
*On my desktop, Go to my Google contacts online and hit the 'Find duplicate' button, deleted the duplicates
*On my desktop, sign into Myphone online account. Under contacts, hit 'Find Duplicates'. delete the duplicates thereafter.
*On HD2, create and configure Myphone and let it sync the contacts
*On HD2, create and configure ActiveSync exchange server to syn the contacts.
Hope this helps somehow...Good luck!
Thanks for your reply, but it doesn't quite solve the bug, just cleans the mess up. I want to avoid it happening in the first place.
Noone with similar problems?
Just a word of warning - don't sync your calendar with GMail if you've already got a bunch of accepted appointments in your phone.
GMail will send a brand new meeting request to everyone on the original recipients list, even for old appointments!
Happened to me when I backed up my phone, flashed new ROM, restored contacts, appointments, etc and then synced to GMail.
My entire office got spammed with meeting requests for old things like the 2009 company Christmas party!
Oh, and I also had the issue where all my contact pictures were very low quality.
See my post here:

I'm not sure if your problem is same as mine. Did you personally checked to sync calendar items and contacts? I select mail only, but calendar and contacts get auto-check without my permission...

[RESOLVED] Active Sync - Exchange calendar syncing in infinite loop!

Hi All,
I had searched through the internet and thsi forum and could not find similar issues which I have encountered.
Just bought my HD2 and happily set up the exchange sync. Everything synced as per expected except of the calendar. whenever it synced, it goes into an infinit loop (calender entries goes into the 10s of thousands!) and doesn't stop at all.
FYI, I have checked the settings many times and I'm 101% sure that I have only set this thing to sync for calender up to just 2 weeks ago.
Due to this infinite loop, I can't sync my calendar as everytime it active sync fires up, it chews up my CPU usage to 97% and the drains my battery.
Please help guys as i'm getting desperate.
Thanks!
hi guys, any suggestions/advice? Thanks.
I work with Exchange daily, and I've seen calendar sync problems before, but never this exact problem, so the suggestion I'm about to offer is just a best guess.
I would back up my calendar folder to a pst file, and then delete all my calendar items. You can do this by changing the calendar view to "category", doing a select all, and then hitting delete. (warning, this will break any meetings you’ve setup with other people on your exchange server).
Once you've deleted all your calendar items, try syncing again. If it starts looping with an empty calendar, I'm at a loss... All I could think to do would be backup your entire Exchange mailbox to a pst, delete your Exchange account and start over, but that would be a major pita.
If after deleting all your calendar items, the looping goes away, try adding a single entry into your calendar and see if it syncs. Then try importing everything back into Outlook, and see if the looping starts up again. Hopefully it won't. If it does, it's almost certainly a particular item that's causing the problem. You'll need to import sections of your calendar and watch for the looping to start. It will just be a slow painful process of elimination to find the item that is causing the problem. Once you've found the item, try deleting it and recreating it.

thanks mate. This is similar to what I had planned for, i.e. since I was only going to sync past 2 weeks' worth of calendar events, I might just archive all events in those previous 2 weeks on outlook (PC) then proceed with active syncing on the HD2. If it works, I would then slowly port the archived events one by one and try to isolate where the problem is. Will be doing this very soon. Stay tuned and thanks for the advice!
All just wanted to say I have resolved this issue.
For some wierd reason, Active sync got stuck (running in infinite loops) at the Exchange calender sync due to some of the past recurring calender events having a 'no end date'.
To resolve this, simply delete all these recurring events bearing 'no end date' and sync again. I did that and it worked!
I have also verified that this problem ONLY happens in the VERY FIRST Calendar sync. Subsequent Exchange Calender sync for recurring events bearing a 'no end date' have no issues syncing.
woohoo!

[MISC] Calendar syncing with Outlook

Just thought I'd share my experience on this. Before I got my DZ, I was used to sync'ing my Outlook calendar (Outlook 2007) with my WinMo phone (TP2).
With the DZ, I thought I would use HTC's own HTC Sync software. This can sync various items to the phone from a PC, e.g. calendar, bookmarks, files, contacts, etc. You can download it from HTC's website - http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=1058&news_id=804
However, I found it didn't handle repeating appointments properly at all, something I've raised with HTC (but had no response yet). If I change one instance of a repeat appointment (e.g. different time, or deleted it), it just didn't seem to pick it up, and didn't sync the change to my phone.
I then thought I would try out Google Calendar Sync - http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=98563
Google Calendar Sync works much, much better. I sync'd my Outlook Calendar with Google Calendar initially, then removed my "PC Sync" calendar from my phone, and sync'd my Google Calendar with my phone. It is working fine so far, it picks up things like changes in single instances of repeat appointments.
I'm still using HTC Sync for sync'ing bookmarks and photos, but not my calendar any more.

Coming from the exact same old phone and doing the exact same process, I wound up doing the exact same thing!
Problem is google calendar sync doesn't work with Outlook 64 bit.
I am using a product called CompanionLink - but it's only a 15 day trial

[Q] Outlook sync adds invitations to calendar entries

Happy New Year. I recently had to reset and rebuild my HD2, so I installed Outlook on my PC and used active sync to "back up" my HD2 contacts, calender, tasks, etc. Everything looked OK on the PC so after clearing and rebuilding the HD2, I used sync again to restore things from the PC. Almost everything restored OK and most of the oddities were fixed by editing the entries. However, I am left with one outstanding issue that has stumped me; Every calendar entry thinks it has been sent to me as an invitation. Each entry has "Invitation from: Unknown". I do not know why this has happened, but I cannot get to this calendar field by editing the entry. Does anyone know how to remove the "Invitation from" field, or have an editor that will allow me to do it? Thanks.
