on the back of the original htc batterie pack there is this metal cover which i have seen on almost every htc device.
is this a sort of radiation- or heatshield between the batterie and the phone ?
replacement batterie packs do not have this metal cover ?!
no one knows the use of this metal cover on the back of the htc batterie pack ?
maybe it is of no use ... but then also i want to know about it ;-)
i think it is because of the battery heat. isn't your touch dual not getting pretty hot while surfing or playing?
yeah batterie is getting hot even when i phone on 3g with bt headset ....
For me, it isn't the battery which is gettin hot on 3G.
It is the rear side at the bottom (under the battery).
I think the 3G parts (chip? antenna?) themselves should be blamed for that.
you're right , i just checked ... and it is not the battery which is getting hot - it is below the battery ... so it might be the 3g things which makes the device burn.
in anyway - just wanted to know if it is any disadvantage using a replacement batterie pack instead of the original from htc regarding the metal cover .

Yeah, I've been looking for the little rubber thing too. With no success.
I bought a new battery cover on ebay. I have a tytn but the battery cover that came is a darker grey and instead of HTC symbol it has the designed for windows mobile.
I guess no big deal but i think these covers are for Cingular 8525's.

i use my TYTN normaly with the original battery. But I need more power for longer work
Since two weeks I have an Battery with 1500mAH, not bad, just a little bit longer.
For testing I buy an 2000mAH Battery, I will test, but you need for the thicker battery an new battery cover, bad! Because I find until today no case i can use with the thicker cover.
Have you experiences with
Batteries with 1700/1900/2000 mAH (normal size) without need for an other cover? When, which can I get it. I read all the articels in the forum, look to Mugen Batteris, Boxwave, Ebay.....
If I need a thicker battery cover, where can i get an case (today I use an Alu Case)

I´ve read lots of threads and made google searches too (ebay inclusive), but Its realy hard to know which is the good battery (brand and model) and where to get. There are lots of generic ones, mixed with some that says are "OEM" or "original" (how can i know?) the estrange think is that some apears to be the same, with very different prices.
Please, whitch one is the good one and where do find?

battery does not fit with regular phone cover so a new cover is provided by mugen which has a nice glossy finish and looks quite good on the phone.
2 BAD points
no opening on back cover for GPS antenna as there is no antenna in the market to fit the raised back cover.
no camera lens cover, just a cut hole in the plastic with a silver-colored plastic covering.
i protect my camera lens using a single layer of clear cellotape, pictures come out quite decent.

Hey gang,
I got a spare battery and external charger to take with me when I am traveling.
my question is...has anyone broken the battery cover or the 'locking' tabs while removing the door? I am trying to figure out how careful I should be, or should I try to limit the number of times that I open/close the casing?

mine had the camera lens cover knocked out & split in half a long time ago (the seam between texture & gloss plastic). just ask HTC for a new one on their website. theyll send a new one.
Mine was fine coming on and off. I did break a tab however when I dropped my phone.... but who's fault is that?

2430mAh the dame size as the standard battery seems too good to be true....
Had one of the large batterys with the plastic cover and stand, and because of this, I broke my LCD screen.... the plastic cover for them is too flexible, so my phone bent when it was in my hip pocket .... ouch
With the battery I linked, the phone would keep the rigidity given by the metal battery cover and not have a large bump to flex around......
It's a cheap and nasty fake, which is probably weaker than the standard battery. Things which are too good to be true usually are, if it were possible to get that much power into that package then HTC would make one.
