Is VoiceCommand usable as keyboard?

Hi,
can someone think of a way to use VC or its libraries as a keyboard? Imagine you're driving and have got no hand free. Then I'd like to use VC as in "Type Plus Four Nine One Seven Seven ... Tab H E L L O Space D E A R Commata Space ... Alt S". This means "Type" would be the initial command like those many others. Followed by several keystrokes, where "Shift", "Alt" and "Control" influence the next keystroke.
To those with objections: I know that way it will take ages to spell an entire message, but at least you have a way to write message (for instance) without using the stylus (and stop the car).
Waiting for constructive answers...
First hint: If we cannot add commands, we could just add a short cut "to type" to command "start to type". At the latest then a new program needs to take control probably using the VC libraries...

You could start off by using mortrunner to set up a gazillion shortcuts that just type one character, eg r
Then, you have a folder full of shortcuts of letters etc.
Then you use voicecommand to launch each shortcut per letter, as required.
That's just an "ugly hack", but should work. I tried it once a while back.

@vijay555: Shortcuts are lauchned via "start" command. That'd imply I'd have to say "start H start E start L start L start O ...". That crosses the line and would be unusable. And what about your rant about my nick?

Yep, start S start L start O start W would be a pain in the ass I think.
I haven't heard of any way to hook directly into Voice Command as yet though. The sending keystrokes bit is easy, but getting voice command to do it... I don't know. Doesn't it support "spell" type dication; on most dic programs you can get input by spelling words. I don't use VC any more, can't remember how it works.

Documentation about VC is as thin as it could get. It's doesn't even have a full listing of all its commands. It's nothing more than a FAQ. So it's all about reverse engineering here, I reckon.

[updated] Sicve Tutor Assist V1.2 (for Italian users)

The italian Sicve Tutor system checks that the mean speed of vehicles between verification "portals" is below the speed limit (tipically 130 km/h) . Tutor Assist uses GPS to get the car current speed and helps the driver by:
- signalling current speed above speed limit condition;
- computing mean speed;
- signalling mean speed above speed limit condition;
- suggesting the speed to keep for a selected time in order to make the mean speed go below the limit;
- computing the distance required at the current speed for the mean speed go below the limit.
Tutor Assist can be integrated with TomTom Navigator to make easy the switching between them (for advanced used, some tweaking is required).

The program has two status, paused and active, and the Start/Pause button is to toggle between these two status.
During the paused status the program does nothing but show current speed. During the active status the program computes the mean speed starting from the moment the Start button was pressed.
Therefore, the program should normally be kept in the paused status. On entering a Sicve Tutor controlled road segment the Start button should be pressed to start mean speed computation and check. On the controlled road segment end the Pause button should be pressed to reenter the paused status.

Ok, so if i go to an "autogrill" i haven't to touch anything... i hope the app calculate the mean also if the gps loose the fix (in a build 4 example)

the program doesn't see my gps antenna

I think your program could be very helpfull but, unfortunatly, I can't use it because It doesn't see the gps antenna.
I have a HTC Tytn with an external bletooth gps antenna (royltek sirfstar III) and I choose on your program the com port on wich the antenna is configureted (com9) but on the main window of the program appears this message in red: "error: com port COM9: is not on".
The antenna works correctly wich every other progra that need it (tomtom, igo and others).
Could you hlp me to solve the problem?

Try to go to Programs->Settings->External gps settings, and assign a virtual com port to the ORIGINAL HW port (i hope you use com9)
So assigning a redirect from COM9 to COM6, you should use the com6 in all gps programs, also if there are 2 or + gps apps opened.

I'm not sure I have understand.
I've gone to External GPS (wich is in Settings and not in Programs in my device) and I've found 3 labels: Programs, Hardware and Accesso (I'can't translate in English, sorry).
In the label 'Programs' the gps port is GPD8 and in the label 'Hardware' is COM9.
How could I "assign a virtual com port to the ORIGINAL HW port" ?
And, then, how could I "assign a redirect from COM9 to COM6" ?

Ok, i've done this: I've gone to External GPS.
In the Hardware label I left the com port number 9.
In Programs label I changed the GPD port in number 6 and Ichoosed the port number 6 in sicve application.
Now in the software the error message is changed (now is "Error: could not open com port") but is still an errore message!!
It seems the software can't find the bluetooth GPS antenna.
Help please!!

try to use the settings that you now have with VisualGPSCE, if it work, don't close it and open also Tutor Assist.

Good day, i've install your software in my HTC without problem, when i go to set Serial port i've some error,like Status : Running NotSet.
I'use Com 9 like port and Baud Rate 9600.
This problem happens with a Tom Tom GPS and with another GPS Receiver.
What's wrong in my setting ?

cambiando i settaggi, inserendo tutor nel sdkregistry di tomtom6.020 e avviandolo non succede mai nulla.
resta sempre in "running not set"!!

Is there a way to use this excellent application on my Diamond?
I used it on Trinity and it was just great, bu now on Diamond I have an error message...
After I make the setup (Port: Com4, Baud rate=I tried every value but I think the correct one is 4800) I have the following red message in the top left of the screen: "Error: Error in process_gpvtg".
I tried the app on my friend Diamond too and the result was the same...
I noticed that the error message does not appear when I launch the application from inside my home... Maybe this mean that the problem is in the comunication with the satellites... I really don't know...
Any idea on how to solve the problem?

PocketPuTTy, pageup/down and äöå

Hey,
I'm an irssi junkie and that's one of the main reasons I wanted to get the X1.
I found that PocketPuTTy was the best SSH-client for Windows Mobile and it works pretty well. But I can't find a way to use pageup and pagedown in it.
In other Windows mobiles the keys are found at Fn+up/down arrow, but since there aren't arrowkeys in X1, it's a no go. Anybody have an idea how to get those functions available?
Another biggie was that the versions of the mobile that arrived to Finland are UK versions. That naturally means we don't have the äöå -buttons. There was a fix around to make the öäå available from áü-button, but the button doesn't seem to work in Opera nor in Irssi. Any way to fix that?
(And sorry if there have been posts about these matters before. I tried searching before posting new topics but couldn't find anything relevant)

You might use the arrow keys around the dpad for PgUp/Down, etc.

I got a Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia. I must say I really like the platform.
I use PQzII (http://nicque.com/PQz/PQzII.htm) to bind the vol up / vol down keys to ctrl and alt. Then when I connect to my irssi screen I can cycle the querys using Ctrl + N (next window) and Ctrl + P (previous window). I haven't gotten the alt meta key to work yet tough :-(
So for now I just have an alias in irssi /alias g window goto.
So I can type /g X where X is the window number I want to jump to.
Anyone know how to get the pgup/pgdown keys?

Wi-Fi IP address setting leads to GPRS fail problem

Hi to all people over here!
I have met such a problem with my Touch HD device:
As I have a wi-fi router, that I set up for each device to have predefined ip addresses when connecting, I have to enter ip address setting on my Blackstone too. When I do this for "IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter" and some time later I am not able to connect to gprs/edge connection.
Exact repro steps: 1. Set Use specific IP address = true and enter "ip address", "Subnet mask", "Default gateway" fields. 2. Turn on and off "Data Connection" in Comm Manager to reconnect current GRPS/EDGE connection. 3. Try to enter some website in Opera(network connection error) or IE - this step fails for me as I cannot open any sites.
I have confirmed this bug by one of the users of russian 4pda.ru forum - he uses another russian rom. But we don`t have a solution to fix it. Maybe someone have met such problem?

I have the same problem.
GRPS works fine if I leave the WIFI settings to default. As soon as I change the WiFi adaptor to use a static IP and static DNS GPRS fails to connect. Does GPRS use the same DNS server settings as WIFI????

i noticed same bug. It wasn't present in stock ROM.
Tested with ROMS based on build 21040 and newest 21042 and bug still there.
You defined problem correctly. 3G/UMTS data connection fails if you set manually settings under wifi config, that should be independent and not affect data connections, but it does. Is strange because browsing using IPs works, but domain names doesn't resolve correctly.
I think is some kind of dns-cache-network-config problem, but no solution found yet. Will post here if i find something.

Not wanna steal this tread but my new Diamond 2 / Topaz has the exact same problem. Not so strange since they're quite similar. I hope a fix will come soon, i've wasted alot of time narrowing the problem down

Just like johncmolyneux, I too must thank you guys for this post! It has changed my life! For as long as I have had my Touch HD (almost SEVEN WEEKS) I have been tearing my hair out as well over this problem, constantly on the phone nearly every day to Orange UK customer services who were stumped over this problem but to their credit tried everything to solve it.
I have an Orange UK Touch HD with:
ROM: 1.19.61.1 WWE
ROM date: 11/25/08
Radio: 1.09.25.14
I too have a wireless network where I need to define static IP addresses for devices which I now know is the basis for this problem!! Changed the settings in Touch HD to use server assigned IP (DHCP) after reading this post today and now GPRS/3G now works like dream!!
This now means that I have to reconfigure my network until there is a solution (if one becomes available) but should not be a big inconvenience.
I am speaking to Orange customer services on Monday so I will advise them to get their technical department aware of this issue.
Once again, thanks very much, this problem was stressing me out big time, spoilt my enjoyment of my Touch HD, it is now perfect!

Same Problem with my Blackstone since I upgraded the official HTC TOUCH HD (EU) ROM Release Date: 2009-04-07. IN the ROM before, there was no problem when i was using a static IP and DNS. Some other German and Swiss guys have the same Problem with their devices. I already sent a message to the HTC Support, but they closed my project without an answer. A few minutes ago I sent a second request.
In a german PPC board a guy has the same problem with his new Toshiba TG01.

As a workaround you can use the application Wifi-Profiles to switch between static and DHCP.

Fighter (Gsensor game)

This game is an incredible game which is gsensored and it has very fun.There is only one problem.I found this game in a chinese site,so the game is in Chinese.However, you can play the game with no problems.
I think you should try it
Ps. It would be very nice if somebody (with more knowledge in chinese than me),could translate this game
Ps2.The game doesn't need instal , just extract the contents and copy them to your device.

Same error with my diamond

doesn't work
On my fuze, it just starts to the 3gt startup screen then exits.

I don't know why this problem shows up.i am running EnergyROM Mercury 6.5 and i can play just fine.are you sure that you extract all the contents at the same directory and that you start fighter.exe?

Using RRE Series 6 ROM on FUZE...
It flashes the first logo screen for a few seconds then it goes away. No error messages or anything though...
Any ideas?

ok here's an update:
I've gone through the loading screens multiple times and translated every hints that have popped up so far, some of them are very useful especially the shaking tricks. Please refer to the screenshot for translations.
*I've also changed one translation in game help menu:
