Nice plugin, but wondering - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

If the VideoLoader.dll plugin for PIE can do more then just the sites that come with it. It's great, but I was wondering if there's a way to edit the dll so that it works on file association instead of the website association it seams to have. Watching Youtube is great, but I'd like to load other sites, or even use the plugin to have the same UI (Play Video, Save Video, Go to Linked page) on other sites for video files supported by the device. Some kind of app that let's the user config the device based on the files you want. Example, I'd want to be able to use the plugin for .flv files and .mpeg files, but I wouldn't want it to take over the .wmwebasf files.
I've attached the file if someone else wants to look at it.
Also, if someone else knows a program/plugin that does the same thing, that'd be great. It's for a T-Mobile Dash on the 1.33.422.1 ROM or any WM5/6 smartphone for that matter

neat, does this just go in the windows folder?

It's actually part of the FlashVideoBundle plugin for TCPMP, but only works on certain web pages. I'll post the files that are part of it

TCPMP plugin for Flash video v0.4 released

It looks like a new version of the flash video (.flv) plugin for TCPMP was just recently released.
For those not in the know, it's a plugin designed to work with the great freeware media player TCPMP, that lets you play flash video files.
It is designed for Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile 5.0 and higher. The plugin will never support the commercial successor to TCPMP CorePlayer (licensing issues).
This version allows you to play flv files directly over the internet via the site http://www.mobytube.net/ which lets your search and play YouTube and Google Video files via a mobile browser such as Pocket Internet Explorer.
I tried it out and it works great.
1.) For ease of use you should make sure TCPMP is associated with .m3u files.
2.) Then just visit http://www.mobytube.net/ with Pocket Internet Explorer (or Opera Mobile or other web browser that lets you download/launch files).
3.) Search for a video, once you find one you want to play, click on the video to download/launch the .m3u in TCPMP.
4.) Depending on your settings in TCPMP you might have to click the play button to start streaming the video.
wow, thanks for full info. i used prev versions, and it is very good thing.
btw, works fine in 0.81.
How do you install this on a Mogul/PPC-6800/WM6 and which one do I download?
You should first have TCPMP installed, download the Windows Mobile version from here:
http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/
Also, download/install any additional plugins you would like, though they're not required for playing back the flash videos.
Then download tcpmpflvplugin-v0.4.zip from here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196939&package_id=232906
Unzip and copy the files in inside the zip file into the folder (not in a subfolder under it) where you have TCPMP install on your PDA (on my device this folder is located in \Program Files\TCPMP).
Make sure TCPMP is associated with .m3u files by :
1.) Starting TCPMP
2.) Taping on the "Options" menu item
3.) Choosing the "Settings" menu item
4.) Tapping on the "Select Page" button (lower right)
5.) Selecting the "File Associations" menu item.
6.) Selecting/Checking "M3U playlist files (M3U)" from the list.
7.) And then finally tapping the "OK" button.
The plugin is corrupt
*edit* for some reason FireFox was downloading it incorrectly.
thanks for the heads up - 0.3 always worked well but went and upgrade to 0.4 anyway. cheers.

Is that Coreplayer 0.81 or is there a TCPMP 0.81? Latest TCPMP I found is 0.72RC
New release: tcpmpflvplugin-v0.4.2
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196939
This plugin is just brilliant.
Warning : it COULD eventually induce a slight addictive usage of your PPC.
Great development, but only works for mobytube.net and .m3u files.
Can't play directly from youtube.
I'd love for this plugin to be made compatible with smartphones 2003SE (with TCPMP).
Can't understand why WM2003SE arn't supported?

Question for the sofware Gurus re Media Players

Hi Folks, you are going to have to bear with a non-programmer, my question is with regard to album art and scrolling on WM. there are loads of threads on xda trying to emmulate the 'Apple' style scrolling media selector.
As most players do the same thing, (ie play music and video) creaing the scroll would seem to be a seperate issue. is there a plugin that allows thumnails to be visible on WM and combine this with touch control to allow the existing player to select and play the track/album/video?
this would give the element of selecting via the pics without the need to create a completely new player?
cheers for looking and would hope one of you folks could run with this idea
Chris
I agree completely. I just don't want a new player - wmp is fine for me and works well with Voice Command. I like the way it does album art and I think it syncs well with the desktop.
What we need is just something to launch the album or track in media player. The Library option in wmp needs fingers that are much smaller than mine!
The iContact application was perfect - a good scroller to find what you want and then go to the normal app.
Ideally it should look a bit like audio manager or the iphone-style.
Any programmers want to take this on?
temporary solution...
well i'm not a developper... me too I agree that windows media player is an excellent software as it also plays videos and mp4's which are also part of my music album... I've done a few things to make it seem like an iphone and more practical:
1. downloaded PlaylistMgr 0.6.2.1 (freeware), use it to create a playlist or edit it on my ppc. And i use the playlist as a shortcut on my today screen (i have spb4), this way it launches the play list directly and not have to select my music everytime. This includes all my music and videos
2. iphone skin for wmp from http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/media/wmp/wmpppc/?order=9&alltime=yes
3. I didnt know how to increase the playlist font, because i agree its too small so i increased the system font. Now most fonts (not all) are bigger, which has some advantages and disadvantages in other software (I used tweaks for that)
4. Use ftouchflo which allows me to scroll in the playlist
if any ideas let me know

Yeah, I did the same, create playlists for my music, and use righttoleft launch with ftouchflo to open the folder that holds them.
Never liked working with libraries.
Can someone elaborate how to create a playlist? I use WMedia and organize my music and I created a play list on the desktop and copied it onto my storage card under the folder 'My playlists' but it doesn't appear on the phone when I update it. Is there a way to create a playlist on the stock wing?
i have just purchased a HTC p6300 (xda Argon) all in all a so-so device but has got a bit of software in it that works well as a media selector - HTC Audio manager, allows you to select albums by file and works well with touch flo. only problem is that i dont know how to find the route files to copy and extract.. has anyone else seen or tried this? and if so does anyone have the cab? would really like this for my Wizard as well as this seems to be one of the best/easiest media selectors i have seen

Video on WMP

I'm having some trouble. . .
On my Wing, it seems that it wont really play any of the videos I store on my SD card. I've got maybe 300 gigs of media on my box, and I realize that the device supports 3GP, MP4, and AVI files, though I have no idea what versions of those extensions will play.
I have tried converting file types, file strengths (encoding, etc) to no avail. At one point I condensed an episode from my Robot Chicken DVD (picked for hilarity as well as small file size) and though the file was say, 50 MB on the computer (and played using WMP), and 50MB on the phone, it only played and scrolled as if the file was 5 seconds long on the phone.
Just like the blackberry, I assume there is a converter, or something I am otherwise missing here. All I really want to be able to do is to take a DVD, or take a file I've created, found, unearthed while deep-sea diving, etc, and play it on my Wing.
Where do I start?
EXTRA BONUS QUESTION: I installed Opera Mini as an alternative browser in root, which I now realize is IMPOSSIBLE to access. I believe a memory wipe should cure that. Would it be accessable if I store it on say, the SD card? Through file manager maybe?

Media player sucks for viewing any type of video on your phone. I suggest you install TCPMP and you should be fine. Do a search on the forum and you should find it pretty easy. As far as your Opera Mini Question....you should be able to run it from your SD card just fine.
Much appreciated, roman, I had figured it would be something like that. Glad to be rid of WMP too.
Clarifying question: How do I play the files through TCPMP? Ive tried from the file itself in file manager and it tries to launch WMP. I dont see a "file > open" type pathway within TCPMP itself.
What am I missing there?
add the file to it's playlist

There is actually a open tab thing in TCPMP, on the botton control bar in the player, click on the first tab from the left and in there there is the open option. And if you want the files to automatically open with TCPMP when you acces them from the file explorer etc. then you go to the TCPMP sttings and then to file associations. IN there select the files that you want to be asociated with TCPMP, and i think after a soft reset, they will automatically be opened with TCPMP.

best performance movie viewing with TP2? How to view movie?

I've been reading the copious threads about ripping movies onto the Touch Pro 2, and have been using the Catalyst 3 program with some success by just using the standard Touch Pro 2 settings in the software.
I read in some of the threads that some software on the TP2 can use the hardware acceleration function and some can't which makes for smoother movie viewing, etc. My question is this: When I put my converted mp4 movie on my SD card and onto the TP2, how should I view it to get maximum performance from the device? Should I put in a folder so that the movie is in the Album viewer and tap it in the album viewer and view it from there? Should I just locate the movie file using file explorer, tap on it, and view it that way? Or should I open the included Windows Media Player, then open the file from within that program? Or does it even matter? Will all 3 methods provide equal performance?
Thanks!
As to answer your question I just use the album viewer. I have the shortcut in my favorite programs and use that to navigate to my videos folder and select my movie and play. Im sure there is a way to create a shortcut to the Video Player itself through the regisrty but I havent found it yet.
You want to play the file using HTCAlbum, and not Windows Media Player; but whether you launch HTCAlbum and then load the file, or whether you associate .mp4 files with HTCAlbum and launch it from File Explorer makes no difference (except that the second way is probably easier!). HTCAlbum is quite possibly already the default application for .mp4 files anyway, so you may not need to actively associate it.

video podcast - how to stream

imlooking for an app that will let me stream video podcasts straight to my hd2
does anybody have any to recommend
I haven't found one yet. I'm still lookin
STREM!? how about you just copy/paste the link given in the RSS to your Kinoma play or core player, thats how I do it
I was hoping for something a little more simpler than that. maybe something with a channel feature? our at least something with a list to choose from. if we like multiple videos than why not have it all on one screen.
OKay, I have a really stupid questions to ask now. How do I COPY and PASTE?
I found something called "YomoMedia" and it does pretty much what I want it to do.
HOWEVER, when I try to copy the feed url from Opera, the text field in YomoMedia will not let me paste? Is there a keyboard shortcut for this? Or am I missing something?
