imlooking for an app that will let me stream video podcasts straight to my hd2
does anybody have any to recommend
I haven't found one yet. I'm still lookin
STREM!? how about you just copy/paste the link given in the RSS to your Kinoma play or core player, thats how I do it
I was hoping for something a little more simpler than that. maybe something with a channel feature? our at least something with a list to choose from. if we like multiple videos than why not have it all on one screen.
OKay, I have a really stupid questions to ask now. How do I COPY and PASTE?
I found something called "YomoMedia" and it does pretty much what I want it to do.
HOWEVER, when I try to copy the feed url from Opera, the text field in YomoMedia will not let me paste? Is there a keyboard shortcut for this? Or am I missing something?

If anybody is interested, WINAMP allows you to view and play any files located on your desktop through the internet on the phone basically from anywhere.
Something else that does this very nicely, called orb, at www.orb.com. You can play any media (MP3, Video, Pictures as well as online radio) streaming from your desktop. They open in WMP on your device.
I have never tried winamp for this, may have to give it a shot and see if I like it better than orb. Just wanted to make people aware of this option as well.
An interesting question, I wonder if the new Linux version of winamp has this capability... That would be super nice!
if you have vista or xp media center you should use webguide. it integrates much better than all the other options i've come across

winamp actually uses orb to do it. its the same thing pretty much.
Hi anyone know of a good open source, free internet radio streamer? the microsoft one is so poor its unreal. I would like to have something a little better.

Hi Aley,
I'm using MORT Player since Years. You only have to find out the steaming URL and edit the Mort Player Internet-Radio List. It's so easy and there are a lot more functions!
I never used WinAmp.

Try KinomaFreeplay. Works very well.

I use the free GSPlayer, it handles all my MP3 and OGG streams.
Thanks guys for the great posts, is there a way to import these links/ favs to the players or must i manually go to the folder where i saved them to and copy them from the device to pc and visa versa
Here are some good websites for music:
1. http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda/
This site is the best of the three and offers more streams than the other two combined so be sure to check this one out first. This site plays the streams in windows media player.
2. http://www.mobtuner.com/
3. http://www.htcradio.com/
These sites work well with GS Player and yes you can save the music streams locations right to your phone to load up quickly with GS Player.
the pandora client works nicely for me. I can post the cab here if you guys cant find it
I vote for GSPlayer. It faster, has less hangups and is easier to use to browse to my radio links folder.
all the above programs are good for streaming radio..... but i've just tried pocketlastfm which works like pandora but you can use it outside of the US. you put in a genre or artist and it continually plays tracks from similar artists/genres...... it's really good!

I´m trying to find the cab for Pandora.
I´ve found one but it seems that it´s not working fine on the Diamond. Some errors on the start screen visual basic lines... I hit ignore and it appears it connected just fine. I managed to get the keyboard out to log me into pandora, and I could see my radio stations, but when tryied to hear to one of them, it hang out on "connecting"...
Can you post your cab here? or can you pm me with the cab?
Thanks.
kick in the $30 and get Kinoma. Totally worth it!
Hi,
Wunder radio. Loads of stations from around the world. Small fee, around £10, perhaps just under.
Ok guys, first post here, I've been doing some searching here and through google trying to find a cab file of somesort to allow me to download and update/play podcast ie radio1 etc.
I cant find anything that makes any sense to me. If someone could help or at least point me in the right direction i would be gratefull.
Thanks
does the podcast come via RSS if it does try the inbuilt RSS reader ad add it manually,
well not sure tbh don't fully understand how it all works, just come from an iphone so was pretty easy with that. can someone enlighten me??
where is the radio podcast ?? link ??
I am in the same boat. I used to use Dr.DoT rss reder. There was a podcast app included. I don't know how to save url for RSS feeder. Any assistance in finding a cab or enlightenig me on how to use the RSS feature to catch podcast would be great. thanks in advance.
Hi, the provided RSS Hub can indeed download Podcasts and plays them in Media Player. I searched for the podcasts I was looking for from within the hub and subscribed.

I'm using MixZing for playing music ...
funny these threads. listed as one of the main selling points of this device was mediascape. you must have read that but bought it anyway! did you not try the phone 1st? this is a prime example of why we all should! not having a go so dont start flaming! expressing my opinion. there is no app within the app store that will deliver anything near what mediascape does right now so for this phone its the best you gonna get! in time when custom roms are being made then we may see the likes of what htc have to offer. we are also currently lacking in apps that do offer more but hopefully corecodec will develop an app for android! until then and until custom roms are available i would just stick with mediascape. no matter how much you hate it, the alternatives are even worse!
edit:
some coredec images for the cp2.0 for android.

playlists
Sorry for hijacking this thread but my question is to do with mediascape.
Anyone figure out how to create playlists in mediascape yet?
The only thing I have found that comes close is starring tracks as favourites, but that only generates one list.
Am I missing something or is it not possible? Cheers.

Yeah... I don't think that's possible. Which kind of sucks but something I can live with. I mostly just use Spotify anyway.
And I also want to know about any good picture gallery. I had one but it wasn't really good at all.
Ah, fair enough. At least it's not me going daft. I was searching Google and the results were implying that you could generate lists but they must have meant that it could be done via media go software.
As far as media players go i would consider that to be a basic feature that is required (especially if you have a large library).
As for the gallery I can't say I'm too impressed with that either. However I did like the one previewed on the mini. Hopefully that will be included in future updates, if there are to be any.
Just typing this on the phone itself using the HTC keyboard. The only thing missing are the directional arrow keys, tapping the screen in the correct place is hit and miss for me.
You can generate Playlists with the Astro Filemanager, which you should have installed anyway...
Yeah I do have that instaled. I'll try that out. Cheers mate.
PiQture is pretty good photo viewer.
I found se's other music player in the phone but cant shortcut to it to use it easily.
Im using the file manager by nalic (green and blue pie chart icon). Navigate to system/media/audio/ringtones (ogg) and play one, a different player called music opens to play it, now leave the file playing and pull down the notification tray and touch the play icon then press the left menu key then library button and you are in.
Now this player will be listed in the recently used app list (hold middle button) unless it gets moved off the list by opening more than 6 more apps without opening it again to bring it to the front of the list.
I like this one better than mediascape as its less cluttered and straightforward and you can create playlists which are drag and drop editable and show up in mediascape.
It would be nice to get to it easier though.
There is also a video player and picture viewer but they are very simple with few options.

Hi
I found it too. I managed to create a shortcut on home with Tasker :
hxxp://tasker.dinglisch.net
www

.net/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1260702665
Hope this helps.
One of my main reasons for wanting the X10 is mediascape. Since I've only seen videos, and you guys actually have the X10... I'm looking forward to hearing why Mediascape is a poor media player and gallery. It certainly looks more robust and feature filled than any of the current media players I've seen.

it is possible but via media go I think, I spent ages trying to work out how to get a playlist set up but I think you have to literally set up a play list on your pc, then transfer that playlist on to the phone (?) only reason I say this is because there is a playlist option in the library in media go. Unfortunately I'd already moved my music across before noticing this so didn't want to double it up or remove it and start again.
I found an app called mortplayer which is free and works a charm for music

Or get a file manager from the market and follow my instructions above, any playlists created will be automatically integrated into mediascape.
Its easy once you suss it. !
Hi,
Anyone know how to disable the mediascape from caching thumbnail for music file ? I think this would vastly improve the speed, as mediascape would only have to read the tagging info and not the image/albumart.
I tried to set the folder as read only, but it doesn't work, the phone still write to it
Hi all - I've sussed this out (alternate Music player and playlists)... download an app called "AnyCut" from the market... in here you can add all sorts of different things.. one of which is under the "activity" option.. called "Music" this is the stock android music app (mentioned by baggyb above).. this way you'll have a link to the music app on your home page which you can then use to create your playlists...
All these work arounds to create playlist are fine but the main PIA is when I want to add tracks to Current Play list while listening to music. Can't be done. I hope SE will soon release a upgrade to address some of these basic issues.
Also, when you try to add contact as Shortcut on Home Screen it brings up list of all contacts and there is no search or 'letter' list on side to select the names. You can to scroll all the way down to select names. I guess SE QA and design team tested the phone only with one track of music and one contact in address book.
I'm not able to listen to online radios which I was able to do with my old T-Mobile Wing. What do I need to do?

The website of online radios doesn't display correctly. It says something like this page is formatted by google. Do I need a flash player or something?
You should have a program called slacker on your phone

what's the exact url of the site? and which browser did you use on your phone to access it?
As far as stopping Google from formatting your pages, do this:
Open opera and perform a google search
Scroll to the bottom of the search results and look for the link called "Settings"
(You may have to zoom in to click the link)
Under "Format web pages for your phone", click "Off"
(I also click "Off on "SafeSearch" and "Save Recent Locations")
Voila, all webpages will now be formatted via opera instead of Google.

Unfortunately, I am not allowed to post URLs, but I use Opera. I got rid of that Google formatting, but there is still no sound. It looks like Windows Media Player plug-in for Opera is missing. How to get it?

Ok, I got the URL you PM'd (http://local.trio.ee/ot/mp3/mp3player/elmarwmp.html) and opened it in my desktop browser first. It did just open a WMP plugin and started an mp3 stream, but it took quite a while to buffer at first, and kept needing to pause and re-buffer every minute or so...so it looks like the feed isn't that stable to begin with.
Now, I tried opening that url directly in WMP on the phone, and it wouldn't play it...it started to open, then just gave an "error has occured" message and wouldn't play it. So, even if there is a 'wmp plugin' for opera (I've never seen one), it probably wouldn't help in this case since the onboard WMP doesn't seem capable of playing it anyway.
Some of the other common media players (TCPMP/Coreplayer, nitrogen, etc) might be able to open that url and play the stream, but I don't have any on hand right now to test. Each of them has an option to "open URL", just find that and put that address in and see if they can do it any better.
EDIT: The stream that the player at that URL starts is this: http://striiming.trio.ee:8008/elmar.mp3?stream=elmar&format=mp3. I tried that in WMP as well, it said the file was corrupt or in a format it couldn't play. Opera offered to open the file, and did play the music, but it only played the current track being streamed (that stream seems to serve up a rotation of ~3MB mp3's) once it finished downloading the whole mp3.
