Wow, sorry I haven't used it, but it sounds fantastic!! I'll be interested in seeing what others think too.
Cheers Mark.
Steve.
I used a very similar thing on my old SPV C600 Smartphone and it was brilliant..
Feedback welcome...

Does anyone know when a WM5 version of this will be released or if there is another program similar?
Try PhoneAlarm .. it has profiles .. but donno if it can switch them dynamically based on the location ...
Here is a link to another version but it says its not fully compatible with all PDA's. Anyone used it on a PDA?

cell-profiler is pretty poor imo, the full version of phonealarm does let you switch profiles based on cell id. Ive been using it for weeks.....great app!!
Its the app i was looking for because i used to use Magic-Profiles pro on my P900 which did the same thing.

The thing I don't like about phonealarm is the look and feel, it looks like the home page is going to be really busy and I also used SPB Diary so would it clash with this?
Has anyone used PPCProfiles for switching on a scheduled basis? If so how did this compare to phonealarm?
Thanks
Mark
Is there application that will power device OFF and ON using scheduled times.
Let's say 10PM OFF 5AM back ON ?
Can't find anything like that for WM6
Thanks
scheduled reset
maybe this one is useful ? But i think you'll have to enter your pin when the phone has done the softreset....
cheers
edit....
ooops....sorry, you want to start some hours later (should have read more exactly...), this app isn't that you're searching for. this one will reboot immediately
Thanks for trying
My Nortel phone 8 years ago was able to do that but I can't find any software with this feature
If the goal is to avoid any phone call between those hours, then you can use phoneAlarm or PhoneWeaver or something else which can switch profile at specified time. So at 10pm switch to "night" profile and 5am switch to normal profile.

It is not a big deal to shut down the phone on schedule, but to bring it back on is *I believe* impossible. It is like shutting down your pc. Once shutdown there is no software running on it. Therefore, even if you had a software that is supposed to turn on the phone, it wouldn't be working once the phone is turned off.
Try diZ

for "phone" only, you might like to try "PhoneTimer" shared in this forum.
for "power", try "addin timer3" instead.
both apps are "free"
There must be part of the phone that is powered when off. ( bios)
The time is still correct when you turn it back on .... no ?

psShutXP will power off at specified time, and I believe there is an app posted somewhere with an auto run tool, which you may be able to use to do this. Either way, your not going to have it power on by itself.
tried many things but all of the "power off" applications are only switching my hp614c to standby mode. but i'm looking for the app/script that should switch device off completely, as i would hold power button down for a few secs. I want to schedule such turnoff for every night. I had this feature in siemens m65 a few years ago why cant I do it with wm6 pc?
Thread will be moved to Q&A section.
Does exist a program that switch on automatically the device??
Please, I need it...
Is someone developing something like this??
Or is there a way to make the pocket pc automatically switch on??
THANK YOU!!
an alarm would switch it on

I have already try with the original HTC alarm, but when the pocket pc is switched off (and I mean "shut down"), it doesn't switch on it....
What program are you talking about?
Thank you....
If the device is "shut down" how should a program be able to run?

Yes, I know...
But think about a simple mobile phone that switch on itself when an alarm is running....
Have you any idea about a program that can switch on the pocket pc??
Or a option that make the pocket pc start...
Don't you think that it is something like a reboot?

Your simple mobile phone if it is waking up on an alarm can't be off totally, more like in a standby state.
Why would you want to turn it fully off and then turn on at a predetermined time, surely leaving it on would be far more sensible.....?
No is a simple answer to your question and I seriously doubt if any of the developers we have here would even waste more than a second ruling it out...if it's off it's off.....if the screen is off it is in a quasi standby state...
I would be interested in the same thing

I turn off it because I can't leave it running everytime, day and night, for days....
So if a program that switch on the device would exist, I'll be very happy.

I don't know exactly why a program like this doesn't exist...
Every mobile phone has this function, and you can also make your PC (yes, our desktop pc) start up at a setted hour.... and this is avaible also for mobile phones...
So why we don't improve this feature on our pocket pc??
So anyone has a solution??
try this
i don't use it anymore but if i remember correctly it does just what you are asking - it is in french but very simple to understand - someone had an english translation too - again if I'm not mistaking

I think I understand your problem, I can't see a solution. But have you considered buying a spare battery, higher capacity ones are available for most devices from ebay.
Try "Addin Timer 3", a free sortware!

I don't think if it's usefull or not to turn off the pocket pc every day, but I'm sure that if you make your device run everytime, for dayd and days, this isn't healthy for it......

I have to say I'm puzzled that no one is working on software like that ...
Anyway, I'm even having hard time to find software that will turn off
the phone on predetermined schedule. Most having only count down to shutdown
sorry can't help you...
all i have to say is you might like to try harder....
I have to say I tried it as well but find it a bit confusing
How do you make it run in the background ?
Is there any documentation for it ?
Thanks
I am wondering if there is a simple program that I can use where if my Tilt is on battery it will switch to Vibrate, and on power, Normal.
I don't want the overhead of PhoneAlarm and was hoping for something much simpler (and smaller)
Does such a thing exist?
Thank you!

Uh, have you looked into VibraSwitch yet? I think you need a few more people to tell you about a utility that doesn't suit your needs... eventually you'll accept that it was EXACTLY what you needed all along.
But if not, then look into these applications. They all claim to allow automatic profile switching based on power source (battery or charger). Enjoy!
Spb Phone Suite
JGUI Phone Profiles
PocketMax PhoneAlarm

I appreciate the response, but if you look above I have mentioned that I did not want phone alarm and I am using Vibra Switch.
However, I have not run into any documentation which states that Vibra will automatically switch based on power/battery.
If it is there then great! I have just not seen it...

Yeah, I read that... I was being sarcastic. You are correct, VibraSwitch by itself will not do what you are looking for. Very few utilities will do what you want - automatically change profile based on power state. Many will do it automatically based on time, but not power.
So if you can't tolerate the extra memory consumption of the applications I listed, you'll need to search VERY high and low to find an alternative. I've looked extensively in the past and haven't found any others. Advanced Google search is your friend - you may get lucky.
If you turn up anything promising feel free to post it.
or...I just posted in the Vibra (Switch) forum post asking him to add it on as a feature
One other thing you can look into is Mortscript. It can poll battery level or power state and perform a function, or call another application... such as [gasp] VibraSwitch. It's not quite as simple as what you're looking for, but it can be made to work. Not sure if it will meet your minimal memory usage expectations either. It would be running in the background "watching" the power state. But it might be worth looking at. There are also a some really good examples from experts in the Mortscript forum. Happy scripting!
I dont have a data plan simply because theyre too expensive. I was just wondering if there is a program that can track data usage this way if I have to use it I know how many KB, MB etc is being used.

Unfortunately NOT any of this programs can count data SEPARATELY incomming and outgoing (there is may plans counting it that way).
I mean - you can not define a plan like this to watch your cost (you can only see the data on the chart).
Best greetings,
RA
SmaatoCost is freeware (in fact AD-enabled) and does monitor DATA cost (in and out) and phone calls & bills...

The deal is to update small advertissement banners twice a month.
Can be updated while your PDA is in the craddle (and without charge...)
So, to me it's very close to a freeware, because you won't have to open your purse to use it !
