Are there any fingerprint authentication locks avaliable for windows mobile? - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus General

It would make a cool feature.

the hardware isn't present in the device (I've seen another htc device with fingerprint reader). If you mean, fingerprint detection by the screen, forget it ! It's not enough acurate

some hp's had it too

HTC P6500 and fingerprint sensor

Is there any API for fingerprint management? I would like to develop an application which manages the fingerprint captured. Thank You.
BR,
Merimm
I could be wrong, but I don't think a normal touchscreen can reconize fingerprints. It sees a finger as a big stylus and not as different pressure-lines...
If I'm wrong please correct me, because a fingerprint-reader would be cool!
As you can see in the next link
http://www.europe.htc.com/en/products/htcp6500.html, it says "Fingerprint ID sensor secures device and critical data". I suppose that there will be a HTC application to enroll and recognize fingerprint.
yeah... but if u look closely at the pda, the finger print sensor is actually at the bottom center part of the body, not the screen itself..
I already know that the fingerprint sensor is actually at the bottom center part of the body .... I think I didnt make myself clear. The fingerprint sensor is similar to the one that HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 Series have, http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11646_na/11646_na.html.
My question is I if I can develop biometric apps with HTC P6500.

If HTC can, I'm sure you could. No? That's the beauty of WinMo. I don't know how though. Sorry.
Thanks for your answer. The problem is if there isn't a public sdk to management the swiped fingerprint (manufacturer), I don't know how can I do it. This processing doesn't depend on Windows Mobile SDK. I have 4 years of windows mobile apps experience (eVC++, .NET Compact Framework).
...something new?
Hi Merimm,
I'm trying to get control over the fingerprint scanner on the P6500 PDA.
My situation is the same as yours, but I don't have any idea about SDKs since I can't find to much information about th Qualcomm processor or the manufacturer's scanner.
Could you finally have developed an application?
Did you find a SDK for the P6500 or did you find any Windows' library for it?
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Daniel

Cool lock app (PocketShield)

Has anyone tried this on Athena? They have a free trial, but since I don't have an Athena anymore I can't s only test it. The site says its only been tested on the Rapheal and Diamond. Site also says it requires an integrated light sensor and g-sensor to "function properly", but the light sensor part can be disabled. Looks very nice, certainly better than S2U2

barcode Scanner

Does anyone know if this Sony Xperia X1 has built in barcode scanner to scan business card? Or do I need to install a third party software for it ?
has no built in scanner.
but there is a sony Eric phone which has inbuilt scanner and i think it uses the Camera lens for it?
anyways, just look for a program and install it.
I installed quickmark reader (free, using htc touch version) to read QR Codes and works perfectlly
And WHERE do you find these 'readers' and scanner programs for X1?
The SE phone with built in business card scanner is the Super P990i. My predecessor of the X1i.

Quickmark Barcode Reader

The barcode reader v.3.8.6, declared compatible whit the Samsung Omnia2 and the Armani, works perfect also on the Samsung Omnia Pro Louvre.
Unfortunately after the first soft reset after the installing, the device can't wake up from the standby. No sound, no light, nothing. The only way is a soft reset.
After uninstalling the software, all problem look solved.
I'm sorry for that, because the software looks really good, except for that little bug. I'm not sure if the bug is on the program or on the Autofocus plugin.
Update:
Quickmark answer me really quick!
Seems that the failed wake up from the standby status is due by the Samsung SDK, as you can see from the user's feedback on the 2.1 SDK on Samsung Innovator page, so, is not a QuickMark fault.

[Q] Biometric reader

Good day , I believe it is possible to use the biometric reader device in question as a touch pad , similar to what happened on devices like the BlackBerry ... using the home button to go up or down pages , this would be impossible ?
