Does anyone know if this Sony Xperia X1 has built in barcode scanner to scan business card? Or do I need to install a third party software for it ?
has no built in scanner.
but there is a sony Eric phone which has inbuilt scanner and i think it uses the Camera lens for it?
anyways, just look for a program and install it.
I installed quickmark reader (free, using htc touch version) to read QR Codes and works perfectlly
And WHERE do you find these 'readers' and scanner programs for X1?
The SE phone with built in business card scanner is the Super P990i. My predecessor of the X1i.

Is there any API for fingerprint management? I would like to develop an application which manages the fingerprint captured. Thank You.
BR,
Merimm
I could be wrong, but I don't think a normal touchscreen can reconize fingerprints. It sees a finger as a big stylus and not as different pressure-lines...
If I'm wrong please correct me, because a fingerprint-reader would be cool!
As you can see in the next link
http://www.europe.htc.com/en/products/htcp6500.html, it says "Fingerprint ID sensor secures device and critical data". I suppose that there will be a HTC application to enroll and recognize fingerprint.
yeah... but if u look closely at the pda, the finger print sensor is actually at the bottom center part of the body, not the screen itself..
I already know that the fingerprint sensor is actually at the bottom center part of the body .... I think I didnt make myself clear. The fingerprint sensor is similar to the one that HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 Series have, http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11646_na/11646_na.html.
My question is I if I can develop biometric apps with HTC P6500.

If HTC can, I'm sure you could. No? That's the beauty of WinMo. I don't know how though. Sorry.
Thanks for your answer. The problem is if there isn't a public sdk to management the swiped fingerprint (manufacturer), I don't know how can I do it. This processing doesn't depend on Windows Mobile SDK. I have 4 years of windows mobile apps experience (eVC++, .NET Compact Framework).
...something new?
Hi Merimm,
I'm trying to get control over the fingerprint scanner on the P6500 PDA.
My situation is the same as yours, but I don't have any idea about SDKs since I can't find to much information about th Qualcomm processor or the manufacturer's scanner.
Could you finally have developed an application?
Did you find a SDK for the P6500 or did you find any Windows' library for it?
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Daniel
It would make a cool feature.
the hardware isn't present in the device (I've seen another htc device with fingerprint reader). If you mean, fingerprint detection by the screen, forget it ! It's not enough acurate
some hp's had it too
Hello all!
I was wondering if anyone knew if the app called Bar Scan ( or something like that) for android has been released for Windows Mobile? The app allows one to scan bar codes(I believe via the camera) and search for better prices online using the SKU number.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
hi!
there is a free program called i-nigma that uses the camera, but it's a scanner for QR Code and Data Matrix
look at this http://www.i-nigma.com/personal/Default.asp
bye
Quickmark http://www.quickmark.com.tw/En/basic/index.asp is a very fast 2d code scanner. But it looks like there isn't any 1d barcode scanner available for wm devices.
Hello again!
Thank you for your suggestions, they both look very promising and I will have to look into both of them!!
Thanks again, Best Regards.
i dont think any of those are what he is looking for...
I had ported ZXing barcode library (google it) from java to C# .net a couple months ago (when I was prototyping a barcode app) but I haven't really tried it yet. An easier way for .NET developers might be to try using the ZXing just as it is via J#.
This would be awesome, but unfortunately, it won't let me complete a purchase. My IMEI has 2 alpha characters in it, and they want 15 numbers, even though it's made for the Touch Diamond. Bummer.
Do a search in the forum for barcorama, it works on my fuze.
Thanks for the tip! It works, although not nearly as well at capturing as QuickMark, but it will do for now.
Here's barcorama
thank you darkness!
Can anyone recommend and poste an good 1d, 2d barcode reader software for de HTC touch pro 2 ? Please include an activation methode.
Thx for your advise
you can download free 2D barcode readers from I-nigma and Microsoft but I-nigma seems to be a little more responsive than the Microsoft one. You can even create your own 2D barcodes on Inigma's website.
http://www.i-nigma.com/Downloadi-nigmaReader.html
Microsoft Tag
You can create barcodes but you have to create an account.

also if you read the sticky it shows softwares worth installing for your tp2 it includes the programs mentioned by strikeIII
So, I use at work a Motorola MC-65 with a barcode scanner integrated. I've got a question. Is there an app that can save the barcode the PDA scanned into a .txt file?
I need this because the barcode scanner connected to the pc is really slow and we need for practicality.
Thanks in advance.
