I have searched the forums and can't find an answer.
I have recently upgraded my M3100 to the official WM6 thanks to the very usefull advice on this forum. I am now running WM 6 on my M3100 using Active Sync 4.5 (Latest) and Outlook 2003 on my desktop.
The problem I am having is that some appointments in my Outlook 2003 Calendar are not being transfered to my M3100. To make matters worse, some appointments appear and disappear at random intervals when I re-sync the device. It has rendered it useless as an appointments diary, which is 50% of the reason why i have a PDA phone.
I have searched extensively on Google and on here. I can find plenty of people experiencing the same problems, but no one seems to have found the answer.
As it is a well reported issue, I wondered if anyone here had a solution?
Regards
Tom
Either downgrade back to what WAS working before, or consider upgrading to a newer version of outlook...
Hello,
I have the same setup you have and have never noticed that behaviour. Well, actually I recently upgraded to Outlook 2007, but I never had problems with the appointments using WM6, AS 4.5 and Outlook 2003. A couple of things you can check:
1. Have you checked the AS calendar settings to synchronize "ALL" appointments?
2. Are you running some rules in Outlook that automatically delete or move appointments?
3. Maybe conflicts between PPC and PC? Is AS setup to automatically overwrite the PC when in conflict or viceversa?
lately i have been having problems with my active sync. i have schaps 4.31 and sc 4.5. when i plug my phone in, the computer says usb device not recognized? what is wierd in the morning everything was fine and now in the evening i am having problems?!?
i would
1 try another usbport
2 uninstall as and make sure to remove all as settings from regedit
and reinstall it

I've searched and haven't found any help at all with this. I'm trying to sync my 9100 with outlook 2003 sp2 as indicated in the title. I can establish an activesync connection and sync notes and files as well as explore the device and install software, however whenever I try to add tasks, contacts or calendar to the sync options I begin to get an error.
Basically what happens is that it will save the settings and then I get an incomplete sync with an error code of: Support Code 85010014. I've searched the microsoft site and can't find this code anywhere. I've followed the activesync 4.0 troubleshooting guide, but since I am establishing a connection that doesn't seem to be the problem. I've been a PocketPC user since day one so I'm not new to any of this, but I'm really at my wits end with this issue. I've hard reset and reinstalled activesync more times than I care to count. I can also still sync with my old jam just fine. Any help would be appreciated. Are there any unique configuration issues for 5.0 devices relative to Outlook 2003? Does it not like running in cached mode? Thanks in advance for any help.
If you are trying to connect to your home machine try:
Delete Any Partnerships From Activesync & the Device
Uninstall Activesync
Uninstall (Not Repair) Outlook - you'll probably need your Office CD for this.
Reboot
Reinstall Outlook
Reinstall Activesync
Cross your fingers
This has seemed to work for some people but not everyone.
There is a known issue with folder redirection on corporate networks. The Activesync team is aware of this and an upcoming version of Activesync will address it. For the moment the the only workaround is to turn off folder redirection. Unless you are a sysadmin, this is not likely an option for you. If you are in this situation, then unfortuantely you'll have to sit tight - like me.
Hope this helps.

I also had to uninstall both the latest outlook junk update as well as the junk update from office sp2 to get as4 working properly.
Success. What worked was to delete my current Outlook profile and account and then set it up again. The first time I did it I didn't delete the outlook.ost file and the new account settings just referred back to that file and I had the same problem. The second time around I deleted that file, configured my outlook settings and got that working and then syncing started to work as well. It took a little time, but has been working well since then. Thanks for the help. It's really strange that my jam and ipaq continued to sync thru AS4.0 just fine, but the qtek wouldn't. Appears to be some weird combination of WM5.0 and AS4.0 that causes the problem.
Hi all
I have a UK T-Mobile Vario with no modified ROMs or anything like that. I am having problems syncing with two computers using Activesync 4.1.
I'm not experiencing any of the usual AS problems, I can connect to both computers by USB or IR without problems. I don't have any firewalls other than the built-in XP firewall, and they have been disabled for the Vario connection on both computers.
From "out of the box", I set up a partnership with my home computer without problems. I then did the same with my work computer. However, when I returned home, Activesync did not recognise the device as one with which it had a partnership and started the setup wizard again. I had to go through the whole process again... then the same thing happened when I returned to work!
It's very frustrating because it takes so long to set up new partnerships, and I can't be confident that it is properly merging what has changed on the Vario with what is on the PCs.
If no-one has any better ideas I guess I will have to do a hard reset and reinstall AS on both PCs, but I'd rather it didn't come to that!
Thanks in advance
Did you resolve this problem? I have been fighting with my new 8125 to try and get it to sync with my computer at home and my computer at work. It just won't share the same partnership and you can only setup contacts and calendar with one of the partnerships. I have tried deleting the mobile devices from active sync on both computers and removing them from the sync configuration on the mobile device and starting again with no luck.
It tells me this "Your Pocket PC is already set up to synchronize with another computer (Windows PC). Please enter a name that will help you easily distinguish this computer from your other computer (Windows PC). " But if I name it something else I can only sync contacts and calendar with one of the partnerships. Very annoying.
I'm wondering if anyone has gotten the contacts and calendar to sync with 2 different computers (without configuration changes each time you sync). I had a PocketPC before (not a phone) and had no problems doing this.
This may not be what you want to hear, but I resolved the problem by uninstalling Activesync from both computers and doing a hard reset on the Vario at the same time. When everything was reinstalled it started working as it should. When doing the hard reset I also installed an updated ROM from T-Mobile for my device, so I cannot say with total certainty whether it was the reset or the new ROM that actually corrected the problem.
Does this mean you can successfully sync your contacts and calendar with 2 computers? Does it show just one item in the sync application on your mobile device?
I'm not sure if this will help you, but I have both my machines, the Universal and Wizard syncing with my work laptop and my home PC without any problems.
The Wizard is syncing Calendar, Tasks and Contacts with both machines...

Ditto for me. I did a hard reset on my 8125, and reinstalled ActiveSync on comps. Original ROM, updated radio ROM only. Works like a champ syncing with 2 PCs.
That is good to hear that other people got it working.
Did you do any tricks to get this to work? Or did ActiveSync prompt you to create a multiple computer partnership?
What version of ROM do you have? I have 1.8.11.1 WWE and radio 01.09.11. I'm wondering what else is out there and I have heard about a 2.8.7.102 version, but it is prerelease.
Do you have ActiveSync 4.1 and Windows Mobile 5.0?

I didn't do any tricks - Activesync on your mobile is happy to have two partnerships at once. I'm also using AS 4.1 and WM 2005.
no luck yet
Well I did a hard reset on my device and reinstalled active sync on both of my computers and still no luck. Very frustrating. It still tells me that my pocket pc is already set up to synchronize with another computer and I need to name it something to distinguish it from the other computer. I do this and call it "Home" and then I can't click on Contacts or Calendar b/c it says that it is already synchronizing with my other computer. It says I can turn it on after, but only after I clear the check box for the other computer and try again.
Maybe now I'll look into updating the ROM, but I didn't really want to do this b/c I'm not sure if I want to keep the device if I can't get this to work. Maybe I'll try calling Microsoft although I've already tried and gotten three different phone numbers of people to talk to and when I had called they weren't in the office at the time. So I tried searching some more and trying some different things and came across this great forum!
I wonder if my problem is because my 2 computers are synchronizing with different exchange servers. I did read this:
"If you want to sync your Pocket PC or Smartphone with 2 PCs with Outlook and the 2 PCs are both synchronizing with different Exchange servers, you need to use a registry editor on the mobile device and set the following key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination] = (DWORD) 1
Source: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x.htm
I wanted to try this but haven't found a free registry editor that works yet. I'll do this before the ROM.
FIXED
Changing EnableNonLocalCrossPollination fixed the problem.
I should have just tried that from the start. I paid the $20 for the Vidya Pocket Registry Editor 1.0.5 and changed the registry and now I can pick contacts for both home and work connections. Now to fix the problem of sync freeze
Guys,
I've setup a partnership between my PC and Exec, when running syncronise though its not placing ALL of my Outlook contacts into my PocketPC, certain contacts (nothing special) just aren't put onto the phone.
Whats going on?
Also, I want to upgrade my roms etc, am I right in assuming that I will simply lose all programs/settings etc by doing this, and can only realistically restore my contacts afterwards via ActiveSync?
Yes you are correct, if you upgrade your ROM you start again from scratch, I had the same problem getting contacts back to my phone after upgrading, just wouldn't happen. Done a reboot on my laptop and then SYNC'ed the phone and all the contacts went in no problem.
It's a pain doing an upgrade but it does give you the chance to clear stuff out and get the phone performing better just a learning curve...
Many thanks, so once I've re-rommed I simply run Activesync, and it'll automatically put my Outlook Contacts onto my phone?
Guess I've then got to reinstall TomTom etc?
Also, with so many Roms on offer, which should I upgrade to? I've got an O2 XDA, for some reason the O2's Rom downloads pages seem to have disappeared? But if I can use a different manufacturers Rom, which one ought I to go with?
Appreciate your help!
Cheers, Ash
Hi Ashley!
Funny you mention this EXACT same scenario just a couple weeks after I posted about it here too !
No one really knows the answer to this so far and I understand how infuriating it is!
I had have a number of devices. My main machine was an Xda2i. Using Active Stink 3.8 all worked fine. Got myself an Exec, and upgraded AS to 4.1 (4.2 I think is still a beta) and when syncing, it says 88 contacts, does the sync, does the beeps and only 24 or so actually show up in my exec. No amount of 'show all' and 'all contacts' etc makes a difference.
Now if I sync on 4.1 with my Bro's Xda2s - all contacts appear. I tried on the Xda2i (currently a friend has it) and it updates fine.
I can only think there is some sort of conflict between Contacts in Outlook 2003, Active Stink 4.1 and Windows Mobile 5 ( I borrows a friends brand spanking new Xda Mini S and that did the same).
The only workaround I can conclude is for me to manually re-enter each contact in Outlook after deleting the original record whilst connected to my laptop. Then the newly input contact will show up. However, I've not had time to test this with each contact nor over a period of time.
My next test will be to install a fresh copy of outlook on a fresh install of Win XP pro on the spare hard drive for my laptop. If that 'works' then maybe it's a slightly corrupted Outlook data file - this is what I suspect it is the most.
Annoying...
Cheers for now! Dennis! West London UK!!
Well, infact I went ahead last night with the O2 Rom Upgrade, everything went through fine - after doing so I ran ActiveSync and it prompted me to reform the partnership, I did so and it continued to Sync,
After I checked my contacts and like magic, all my Outlook Contacts were back onto the XDA!! I'm amazed!!!
As for TomTom, all settings/favourtes etc were retained, it seems they're stored in the same directory as the map files...hence on my SD card!!
Beautiful!
The thing still runs a bit stupidly slowly, so frustrating!! When will someone product an app for the Exec thats sole purpose is to run all the reg hacks that ACTUALLY make any difference!
Hi All,
Have been using the Dopod D810 in WM5 for a while, syncing using ActiveSync 4.5 worked well, syncs were fast. After upgrading to WM6, syncing became much slower, even if i just chose to sync the calendar appointments.
For example, when i have the D810 connected through USB to the desktop, then I add a simple calendar entry in desktop Outlook, the system starts syncing, that calendar entry is quickly sync'ed ( 0/1 changing to 1/1 then the check mark, this process is fast). However, after this, the system still stays on "synchronizing" for about 1 minute until it finishes.
I have already tried lots of WM6 roms, including the official Dopod D810 WWE rom and many other cooked roms (ax3l, mary, pdaviet, etc...)
Have you guys encountered this problem? and how to solve it?
please... no one has this problem except me?

I have the same problem, but I have no idea how to solve it.
I have the same problem with HTC-P4350 (HTC_P4350_WWE_4.17.405.2_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe firmware)
I only have this problem when I choose to sync Outlook Email. When I deselect it, syncing is relatively fast.
Hi everyone, after doing some research online, it seems that its a consensus. Anyone running ActiveSync 4.5 is seeing this issue. I was running 4.2 with wm5 and syncs were lightning fast. I'm not sure if I upgraded to 4.5 or it happened during a windows auto update. 4.5 and wm5 was slow as heck. I tried everything. Reinstalling, hard resets etc, nothing. I upgraded my TyTN to wm6 and same problem.
I've tried posting this problem (others have as well) in the MSFT forums but no replies.
Anyone... HELP!!
it works with me
Hi guys,
I had the same problem with slow synchronization on activesync 4.5, however now my problem is a bit solved. I only chosed to sync calendar, and I installed with activesync 4.5 provided by the HTC (in my case it is T-mobile companion cd). Now it works charmingly. It seems there is some bugs or some optimization made per every microsoft mobile product. I will see if uploading the activesynce of T-mobile will violate the copyright, if not you will see it in the ftpserver shortly.
thanks for the replies. I am now wondering whether installing Outlook 2007 would help for the syncing problem between activesync 4.5 and wm6... ?
And #6, dymlu, I have installed activesync 4.5 and I am now syncing with my d810 in wm5 without problems.
I am using outlook 2007 with active sync 4.5. The speed is still slower compare to WM05 rom. Now i got problem with zonealarm, i need to shutdown it before activesync can sync with my PDA.
same problem here including activesync connection dropping on transfer of large files eg., video file over 1mb
i posted my problem here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326455
With any hope, MS might make an ActiveSync 4.51 available?
Yes, same here. ActiveSync 4.5 with TMO Wing. Sinking PhatNotes to desktop, the rest of Outlook to my Exchange server. It's just slow, period. RNDIS?
the slow problem does not seem to be related to rndis, even with rndis disabled, the same problem persists. When i just try to sync the calendar events, the "tick" mark next to calendar appears fast, the problem is after that, it keeps on saying "synchronizing" for around 1 minute, apparently doing nothing. At that time, the cpu loading on the trinity seems to be quite high, and it becomes un-responsive.
reading the log files of activesync didn't help much (maybe because i couldn't understand it).
I installed SKTools and in the optimize tab, I made an 'optimize for performance' action, which made several modifications in the registry. (TCPIP packet size ...)
Synchronization is now faster, even if the task has still a priority near critical on the PPC.
SKTools is a shareware and since the modification is needed only once ...
Yes, Activesync is *extremely* slow in my case as well. I am sure that this there is an incompatibility between *Micro$oft* Activesync and *Micro$oft* WM6!!
The reson I say this is because I was using the bundled WM6 and Activesync and the speed was incredibly slow. The speed hasn't changed even now that I flashed a lighter ROM.
It's time for M$ developers to get into work!
Yep, slow for me too. I'm running Office 2007 (under XP), the latest WM6 ANZ firmware and syncing email, calendar and favorites.
Have tried changing various settings, but it's still powerfully slow!
Slow ActiveSync
I upgraded my hx2490 from wm5 to wm6.1 and data transfer is slower than old good 5 1/4 fdd
I'm using windows xp on my pc with microsoft activsync 4.5; I've set up the partnership between the pc and Touch HD and it has synced the contacts OK, but it seems to get stuck trying to sync the calendar - using outlook 2003. I've tried both soft and hard resetting the Touch HD; I've uninstalled m'soft activesync, downloaded and installed a new copy, and still get the problem. The programme appears to be syncing but it's been stuck on calendar for ages without appearing to make progress. Any ideas please?
OK if TF3D not running.
Bemi
The very first time I sync'd, it did seem to take forever - I eventually just left it doing it's thing and went for a coffee.
When I got back, it had finished (so don't know how long it took in total), and subsequent syncs have been very quick
One thing I have noticed that seems to be missing (now that you mention) which was on my very old iPaq running PocketPC 2002!
I recall a setting in ActiveSync about ignoring calendar entries which have passed.
Don't recall seeing it this time round, so possibly you get to sync umpty ump thousand 'old' entries first time or something?
Thank you. I subsequently tried disabling TF3d and like you left it running. Came back several hours later and it had sync'ed. To be fair, I was asking it to sync a large number of entries.
