Battery Charging Problem - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

If I let the battery on my Wizard run down completely, I can't get it to recharge, either with a wall charger or USB charge/sync cable. I have to replace the battery. Is there a way to jump-start the charging process?
After I put in the new battery I can't even get the Wizard to boot up. I have to reflash with the provider ROM and then flash with my desired ROM. I know I shouldn't let the battery run down, but I have several Wizards that I alternately use, and unused, the battery runs down and then the Wizard won't restart and the battery won't recharge.

Been there!
I solved this problem by buying an extra battery, which I keep with me, fully charged in my laptop case. As far as the wizard goes, it will only charge the battery if the operating system is booted and operational. I was lucky to find a site with a whole group of people who had the same problem and came up with a solution that is crude, but it works. Take a usb to mini usb cable and cut the mini end off. Strip the black and red wires, plug it into your laptop or desktop usb port and touch the black to the negative terminal of your battery and the red to the positive. Hold them in place for about 20-30 seconds, place the battery back in the phone and it should boot and then charge normally. Somewhere on this site you will find this information and a couple of posts from people who used basically the same tehnique with a nine volt battery. I can tell you the usb cable trick works, but I haven,t tried the battery approach.
Good Luck!

battery won't charge

my wizard battery won't charge.
i have tried another battery and another rom with no change.
wehn i plug in the sync cord, the izard reognizes that it is on external power but just won't charge the battery.
any ideas.
thanks
...try to find out, by measuring, if the ±5Volt DC is present on the pins on the inside of the ppc which is needed to charge the battery. Probably your charging circuit is busted and the ppc should brought back for repairs...
thanks for the response
what is ppc
where do i measure the voltage.
when i first connect the sync cable, it starts to charge for one or two seconds and then stops and reverts to a normal non charging screen.
thanks
PPC stands for Pocket PC
What you speak of, I had the same problem on my wizard.
My battery finally died and I couldnt re-vive my phone.
I bought a new battery off of ebay, put it in, plugged it into the charger that came with my phone, let it charge overnight and I havent had a charging problem yet.
My advice, as well as alot of others on this board, dont use any other charger other than the one that the phone came with. I know I wont be.
...inside your ppc, when you remove your battery, you'll see different connection pins which are normally connected to the battery. With power attached (and without battery) you measure between 2 pins at a time. WATCH OUT for shortcircuiting, be careful!!!. You can use an analog or digital voltagemeter. I don't know which pins, so you have to try it yourself.
You should measure ±5 Volt DC which's delivered by your adapter. If there's no power then your charging circuit is defect and you'll have to let it repair...
reading about a volt on the internal pins that connect to the battery.
so it's the charging circuit.
damn
I had the same problem twice with 2 different batteries. it seems if the batterie dies completely, the device can not recharge itself. something like a car, you need to have enough juice to start the car so you can recharge the battery.
I took 2 paper clips that i used to connect the charger directly to the battery( bypassing the phone). you need to be careful with that, make sure you connect the right battery pins. I left my battery like this for 15min, just enough to have aniough power to start the phone and continue the charging process regularly.
As mlarif said the battery can fail to charge if totally discharged. So if you are not absolutely certain your circuit is faulty there are at least two threads here describing how to butcher a usb cable to jump start the battery.
Sorry I can't remember the colours of the wires off the top of my head. But a search may find the relavent posts.
...you can also use a 9 VDC battery to give the ppc batteries a boost for a few seconds. But indeed be sure to use the right pins
(btw did you measure any VDC on the batteries..?)

atom battery not getting charged

My atom is not getting charged. When i put it on ac adaptor it shows charging but even after 10 hoiurs the battery is empty and after removing from the power the phone shows main battery very low.
I tried charging thru laptop and same problem.
i have changed the battery also still the issue remains.
advice.
praveen
Yeah.. Atom behaves strangely sometimes.. In my case, some times when I switch on the bluetooth and try to charge it, It does not charge. But it seems to use the power coming from the charger to stay alive and operate normally (even if the battery is completely exhausted).
any suggestion how to make my atom charge
my xda atom started doing the same thing, I would plug it in and it would say that it's charging for about 5 seconds then the battery indicator would say full. Then I would unplug it and it would die out. I tried both charger & usb and the usb wouldn't work at all. So what I did is, I removed the battery let it sit for a minute. Put the battery back on and plugged the charger back in (without turning it on) and it's working. I was actually doing a search on this issue for the past couple of hours since this is the first time I've encountered this problem, but the phone seems to be charging now. I'll give everybody a update tomorrow to see if I have to keep taking out the battery everytime I want to charge it.
My problem is a bit different.
My Atom Exec charges with the USB cable synced to PC, and with one specific wall charger (specs: Input: 100-250V, Output: DC 5.5-12V, Max 1000mA, Min 150mA)
But it won't work with any other charger I try it with, even Universal charger I used to use with my HP iPaq. Is there some kind of trick to charging the Atom?
I as well have had this annoying problem happen a few times. I have a second battery and it happens with that battery as well so it has to be the Atom not 'reading the batteries' properly. As posted I have also found taking the battery our for a short time them putting it back seems to fix the problem untill it happens again
Try WM5torage. It will make your phone appear as a card reader in windows. Now pc will supply power to your device. Nice software trick.

Could someone assist me please

My jasjar shutdown after the battery was drained from normal use. So I tried to plug it into the USB port to charge. Well the amber light did not come on. So I tried to unplug and plug in again. Nothing. So I tried to charge from the lighter adapter, still nothing. I do not have a wall adapter.
So I purchased a new battery, and inserted into my jasjar and plugged up to the USB port. Well now I get a flashing red instead of amber.
Well at this point and reading on this forum I decided to hard reset and reload the OS thinking the current one was corrupt. Well the hard reset didnt work using my USB. So I tried it while plugged up in my car and I got the menu and selected 0 to reset. But it showed clearing and then shut off. I called PPC Tech and they told me that it was all corrupt.
So I cant connect via USB so how do I get an OS on my unit. Is there another way to do this.
If anyone could help I would appreciate it.
Regards
Julian
You should see if you can enter in boot loader mode (search for all the procedures in the wiki).
If it does not enter into boot loader, then you will have to "unblock" it manually, this procedure involves some communication with the PDA directly with MTTY, again, search for this procedure in the forum/wiki, also search for the mamaich method if the things get tough, do not panic, it's usually feasible to recover your PDA.
Be patient and read, then if you have doubts, ask a more specific question, then the people who knows will usually answer you.
cheers
Thanks kecido for the reply,
Yes I can enter bootloader mode but only using car adapter. All my batteries are uncharged and I do not have a way to charge.
I do not have a way to get a USB connection to my device. For some reason nothing works with USB connection. I can only get the 2 boot screen methods by using car adapter.
I have tried 2 different USB cables, maybe I should try another.
Again thanks
you should just buy a wall charger from here http://www.buybits.com/product/sku_bb-world-charger-htc-universal.aspx
or even buy a cradle charger that can charger an extra battery as i doubt the universal will charge the battery without windows being booted (very stupid idea that). If you cant fix it can i buy the lcd cable from you As i have a universal that works but my backlight is broken
Well Im not ready to give up just yet. Somehow I have to get a battery charged, and proceed with the process.
Regards
Im still needing help
is there anyone that could assist me please. Im not sure what to do now.
So your device is not dead, well, then it should be easy, you just have to recharge one of your batteries out of the PDA, many sellers in Ebay (most of them from Asia) sell the batteries with an external charger, this could be a way of charging your battery without the PDA, you can also charge the battery with any external charger for Lithium batteries (i.e. a cellular external battery charger), you could even charge the battery with an old cell phone (it has to have a Lithium battery), all that you need is to take the positive and negative poles from the phone to the battery, it could take more time than with your PDA, but it will work.
You could also attach your PDA to an external power supply, you should give him 3.7V and at least 1A through the battery's contacts (not the USB connector that is disabled when you upgrade the rom), the power supply MUST have a voltage regulator in order to keep the voltage constant, if you're not sure about this, or if you don't have the necessary equipment, try the other two solutions to get your battery charger and being able to reflash your device.
I'm out of my work (another continent) and will not return until mid april, i do not remember the circuit well, but there I have a very simple one to recharge lithium batteries, but this requires electronic assembly, if you have the skills, you might search the internet for a Lithium battery charger.
bye

Internal battery is very low!!! Need Help

Hi,
My wizard main battery (wiza16) was very low and the wizard stop with a message “The internal battery is very low”. After coming back home I have tried to charge but it is not taking charge and didn’t turn on anymore. I recently bought a new battery (wiza16, 3.7 VDC, 1250 mAH) thinking that it will work again but still the same problem, wizard is not taking charge or turn on.
Can anyone help me?? What can I do to start my wizard? Do I need to change the tiny little battery (which is inside the wizard)? Kindly help me.
Wizard service manual
Hi,
See if when you connect the power plug the led turns red, if yes....
If Charge light is red when plug in AC adapter, it means the main battery is not charge enough and can’t power on,
You just need to continue charge unit the light become Amber
If not, i think you have a problem.
Check if charger its working and if its pluged.

Wizard Battery discharge completely
Hi,
Thanks for quick reply. there is no light when i connect my wizard with PC. I don't have the AC charger, I have lost that for long and was using my PC usb to charge. trying to get one AC charger.
There was no problem with my wizard, just can't turn on after it's battery discharge completely. Even the new battery couldn't turn that on.
You'll need the original charger if the battery has complelty discharged as it will only charge from the computer if the phone is powered on.
This happened to me before.
There is a trick to giving the battery a quick charge which will give it enough juice to boot the phone up and allow it to charge from usb. its not recommended but works.
You will need a spare usb cable, cut one end of, strip the wires back and connect the red wire to + and the black to - on the battery, only do it for a short period, about 30 seconds while conneted to your computer.
You may need to give it a few 30 second bursts to give it enough juice.
Pop the battery back into the phone and switch it on while pugged into the PC
Took me a few attempts to get enough charge in the battery for it to boot up.
Wizard battery
You can also use a 9V battery to jumpstart your battery. But then you have to be more careful. I connected the 9v battery to my Wizard battery for about 15 seconds, then tried to start up my device. If not successful I started again with 15 seconds jumpstart..
But you can find more information here in the forum: just search for jumpstart or something similar....

Wizard Battery discharge completely
Thank you all for information. 9V battery method didn't work for me. Looking for AC charger online and get a link (http://www2.dustin.se/pd_5010073700.aspx). Do you think this is the right one? If yes, then I can order.
yea that's the right one but if you have a friend with a ppc or maybe a razor you can use there charger most ac adapters are starting to use mini usb just a way of saving some money even though having an ac adapter is good
could also try and get one of those usb plugs that you can plug up to a wall and plug in a usb cable into the slot
but don't take my word for this wit hmy wizard i haven't had it shut all the way day
if anybody can verify this would work
AC charger not also working
I have got the AC charger yesterday. When Connect the Ac charger first time the red light on my wizard showed for just half second then dissappear. Still let that connected for whole night but no response.
Thank you all for help.
@Keland44, most Razr chargers dont work, they MUST be at least 850mA in order for the Wizard's battery to receive anything. The older Razr chargers are sometimes as low as 350mA, but the never ones are as high as 1.2A, so you need to read the label on the charger itself to be sure.

Yup that is about right,
If the battery is complelty dead, then you need to original charger.
If you have got the right charger and you get a red light and it goes off. your phone might have a problem.
This happened to my last wizard after stupidly trying to dry out the screen after getting it wet which stopped the touchscreen working (i was drying it out while the phone was still on) well my wizard crashed.
Took ages to get it back on but it was very unreliable then one day, it wouldnt go on and charger done nothing. Unpluging and pluging the charger in several times got a red light on.
Sometimes i could get it to turn on, the charger would charge for about 5 minutes then the phone would die soon after.
Your phone might possibly be bricked.
Help :

Battery Issue?

Ok so last night I flashed my HD2 with MIUI last night and everything worked out great. So I went to sleep, the battery was around 35% so I let it sit in the charger in my computer. Next morning I wake up no response from the phone. Nothing, net even the orange charging light at the top. Everything is connected properly what do you think is the issue? Should I let it sit for a bit more? I also think there is an issue with the USB cable it's those one dollar cables off e-bay and it's starting to show the internal wires at the end.
probably battery is dead flat & will need charging externally from your device.
You can use a cut usb lead with + & - leads on correct battery pins for 10 minutes or so then insert battery & boot device & connect to charge.
Problem is MIUI will not charge when device is off or with a totally flat battery.

Ok, this time I'm about to buy a GOOD quality micro usb cable. With the old one I'll try what you said I don't want to ruin the battery or anything so is there anything I should take in account before and tips?
