Hi
I recently purchased an O2 XDA IIi, which is unlocked from O2 and has been hard-reset to remove O2 features.
My SIM works as much that I can make/receive calls and send/receive text messages.
But, to access Internet, Email, MMS etc etc I need the settings for Orange (Ive tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7306 but no luck).
Does anyone have the correct settings please ?
Is there a programme I can download (the type that is pre-installed onto Orange phones) as this may be the quickest solution.
I have tried Orange support on 3 occassions now and whilst they state they dont support non-orange phones they have tried to help - but without success.
Does anyone know if the hard-reset actaully leaves various O2 settings on the phone, which still need sorting.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GOOD !!
Thank You !!!
Paul
try removing the o2 profiles in connection
and making sure it's not set to autopick the o2 connection profile
and such
p.s. hardreset remove no o2 features as they are most likely loading in again from the extented rom when it's hardreset
guess you could try to edit the extented rom and remove the o2 stuff from it and hardreset once more
hi
there is no sign of O2 anywhere in the connections settings.
how can i find if O2 exists elsewhere ?
thanks
Paul
settings->connections->connections
should give you a menu with connections
something the line of
My IPS
add a new modem connection
manage existing connections
My work network.....
if you pick manage existing connections you can see which
connections exist and edit them
RE: GPRS and MMS settings
Hi,
Follow this link, Ihave uploaded all the available cab installs for UK carriers, contract and PAYG.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26463
These are the latest version 2.0, as I have seen some earlier versions elsewhere on forum.
cab file not recognized
1st thanks to you all for helping all us newbie's.
I've checked the threads (hopefully), unlocked the xdaIIi with itsme's fine unlocking tool, downloaded the cab file for vodafone uk. But when i browse to it in file explorer i get a icon and msg to say that the file's not recognized.
And i need to run a program to open the file.
Also the file name is; "download" and not uk *****.cab.
Any ideas or am i just missing the point ?
Thanks.
ok have searched around and i have the settings for the mms for cingular. but when i choose switch accoutns its not listed in there. i only have sms and outlook email. I just loaded the cingular cab as well which iw as sure i already had the cab installed. anyway how can i get that loaded or working. and yes i have searched around and cant find the answer.
TIA
never mind. forgot i didnt install any of the crap on the rom upgrade. and had to install it from the rom2 files.
basicly i installed default_mp_mmsautodisco and default_mp_shortcut_mms
hey, you might be messing the ExtROM on your device that is supposed to include the MMS composer. go to start settings system and device info to read the ROM and ExtROM versions. if the ExtROM doesn't show then you nead to hard reset the device and if it doesn't show re install the upgrade.
...ok.
I just got a TyTN. On my HTC Universal, there was a MMS console or something...forget what they call it...
But it was flawless and there isn't one on the TyTN from what I can see...
Can someone help me out? It MIGHT be my general non-familiarity of the device so I don't see it...but I don't see any programs or settings that even come close to referencing it...
Thanks...
If I understand the questions correctly
From messaging.
Menu
Tools
Options
Select MMS
You have to install the Shortcut-MMS.cab from ExtendedROM.
I for one, didn't install it, cause the whole messanging application (SMS and E-Mail) starts much faster without MMS installed.
At the moment I'm searching for a proper replacement for MMS that's not that lazy.
Missing MMS Menu on HTC TyTn
Hi,
I have the same problem on my HTC TyTn. In fact, MMS menu is missing. I've read the answer but I don't know where I could find shortcut-mms.cab.
Could you help me, please.
Jee
unhide the extendedrom as described in the extrom unlocker thread. then you should find a file *shortcut*mms*.cab in the dir /ExtendedROM
Hi,
Thanx for answering. I've tried what it explained, but nothing happen. My phone coming from SFR (vodaphone). Maybe there is something else to do.
Regards
ROM Version 1.23.163.3
ROM Date: 06/18/06
Radio Version: 1.16.00.00
Protocole: 32.53.7018.01W
Me, too, and I think I've got it figured out..
I have most of this problem solved but need one additional piece of info (at bottom); maybe someone can fill that in for me.
I got a new 8525 from Cingular.com the day they came out. The letter 'A' stuck so I had to exchange it for a new one. The first 8525 I had showed the MMS directory just fine but the second one they gave me did not. I'm not aware of any differences in the way I set them up or how this could be, but MMS has been missing from my second 8525 since I first fired it up. Cingular support was no help.
Here's what you need to do to fix it:
(1) You need to unhide the Extended ROM. Info on doing that can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283750
Note that in my situation my phone was already SIM unlocked, and I found that I did not have to CID unlock my device in order to fix this problem. Information on what the difference is between SIM unlock and CID unlock can be found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SimUnlock
(2) Now, when you open File Explorer, you'll see a new folder listed called "Extended ROM." Open that folder and you'll see a list of .cab files that can install various things for you.
Run the MMS installation .cab file called "MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes" to install the MMS function that somehow got missed in the initial setup. I found that I was not able to install this program to Extended ROM, and I did not try to install it to the storage card, but it installed in my Device memory just fine.
Open up Messaging, and you should now see the MMS folder, unless you soft reset, in which case you have to re-install. In my case, no configuration of the MMS function was needed, and MMS works just fine.
QUESTION: Whenever I soft reset my phone, I lose the MMS function again and have to re-install from the .cab. How do I make MMS a permanent feature of my phone?
I hope this helps folks get at least as far as I've managed and maybe someone else can help finish answering this problem. Thanks in advance.
OK...
Let's say a stupid asshole erased his ext-ROM and is now missing the whole Shortcut-MMS.cab .
Is it possible to flash back only the ext-ROM ?
Can someone send the .cab to the asshole (meaning ME!) ??
Thanks
Replying to myself :
contents of known extended roms are here :

Just upgraded the firmware on my Cingular 8525. I downloaded the latest version from the ftp website.
rom version 2.06.502.3
rom date 02/02/07
radio version 1.34.00.10
protocol version 32.67.7020.10h
What the phone does. The phone still works and I can make out going phone calls, but I am unable to download my mail or bring up web pages. It comes up as web page can not be loaded. I've tried to search for an answer but have not found anything yet.
I am using an old att sim.
Thanks
Scott
Scott,
Have you checked to see if the connection settings are set on the device (settings - connections)? Perhaps the ROM upgrade (is a Cingular one or HTC?) does not contain those settings - in that case you will need to manually enter them. Perhaps this might help: http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic18250.html - not sure if the settings in here are right for your service or contract. A search here and on MoDaCo: http://www.modaco.com/HTC-Hermes-HermesMoDaCocom-f204.html might also provide the settings that you need
Good luck
My connection settings are correct. They were working before I upgrade the firmware. I am using Att settings which is proxy. Unless with the new firmware they changed. I think it might have to do with the bootloader being 1.09 I just trying to figure this out.
Thanks for your help,
Scott
So you are old ATT Blue in USA, correct?
Running the RUU 2.06 with Radio 1.34?
Do another hard reset as some times the first boot is not letting the entire Ext_rom complete, I do not know why but it happens sometimes on the new Cingular ROM.
After that if it doenst work then go to Cingular.com and check your GPRS setting in the "Connection" part of your setting and make sure the settings include the correct user name (wap.cingular.......... and password CINGULAR1..... etc)
Hi guys,
I upgrade my JasJam version 1.20.305.3 to 1.20.305.104 from i-Mate website. After upgrade i found that MMS configuration menu is missing. Can someone help my, how to add this ?
Best regards
I had the same problem when I upgraded my 8525. What I think happened is, at one point during the upgrade, I was prompted to set up my email. I started setting it up, but the phone wasn't finished installing software. So the phone trying to set up email and install software at the same time goofed things up. The MMS app was there, but some reg keys must have been missed.
I did a hard reset and let the phone do it's thing without me touching it and everything installed properly.
It's odd how i-mate posted a extROM update that's older than the latest full ROM. Try downloading and installing the full update.
Thanks guys
I cannot understand, why on the offcial suppor page, is linked wrong update file
