Broken MDA charging socket

My phone accidentally fell on the carpet from my desk while it was charging and the charging socket broke and now is loosely stuck inside the charging hole. USB as well as charging aren't functioning. I was about to open it up with the help of the wizard disassembling manual but I don't know what I need to do afterwards. I know I will be sautering but will it be just that simple or will I have to be careful how and what I sauter? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated! I would contact T-Mobile but my warranty has already expired.
Well, the USB port falling out/in is pretty common problem that is covered under warranty (as long as you haven't "dropped" the device).
Post warranty replacement is $100, still a pretty good deal. If you clobber the device when you take it apart, I suspect you may be out of luck on the $100 out of warranty replacement.
I suggest Pocketpc Techs..costs 60 dollars to fix it. If not then just get a seperate battery charger and bluetooth usb to sync. Goodluck!
Thanks
Thanks everyone for getting back to me. Ever since the MDA broke, life has been a mess. Schedules are all messed up and I forget my appointments, hence the late reply to your comments. Clems, you said there is an external battery charger that can be purchased? Where can I find this charger? I will look up the procedures for sync the MDA with bluetooth.
Even if you decide to just use an external charger and bluetooth sync, you should try to remove that loose usb plug. If its rattling around in there loose, who knows what components or solder pads it might touch and short out. You might endup totally killing your phone

Broke my USB, HELP!

Hey all, i just recently bought this lovely phone from a friend of mine. I've been messing around with it for the past several days (Upgrading to WM6 and installing APPS, and even messing with the internet(tzone)). Anyways when if first got it everything seemed to be running fine and when i plugged it into the usb port for activesync, it worked. However the past day i tried to recharge my phone through the charger and later the car charger and it would not stay "connected." Like the little charge icon would come on and off. Me being the dumb person i am, tried to bend the plastic piece in the middle of the usb seeing if that would help make the connection better. While doing so i broke the plastic part and now it won't charge/snyc at all any more. Anyways, i figured i try to open up the phone see if i could maybe glue the piece back on. After opening it up though i see that i could maybe replace the whole conector ( with a lil soldering). i was thinking maybe buying some cheap electronic that had the same connector and replacing my wizard's connector with it. What are your thoughts on this? Could it work? I'm not an expert when it comes to soldering, but i do have some experience.

[Q] USB/Charging - Help

Hi folks,
Like a lot many users here, my X10 is now not charging.
It is not recognized even on the PC through data cable.
Phone and charger are working fine with any other battery.
this battery is working on other phones.
i did open the phone up & the USB is not even loose.
all the solder joints seem to be intact.
any ideas what could be wrong?
That's a factory error, send in your phone to warranty and expect a new one.
Happened to me.

Problem with USB!

Hello,
I don't know if it is the right place to post, but because I think my problem has to do with the software.
A few weeks ago, my HTC touch HD stopped being charged when it was on. No signs that USB was connected, nor with the computer or the charger. Still though it would charge when the phone was off, so I postponed to fix it back then. When I tried to change the ROM to the latest one(this is the ROM I have installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809477), I couldn't and even after I connected the USB the screen kept showing "serial". Things are getting worse, now it shuts down without any alerts, especially when I watch youtube videos or browse the internet...
What do you think is the problem and what should I do? Can the device be fixed? I dont want to lose my beloved Blackstone
Thanks in advance!
the blackstone usb port is a known weak spot, maybe it really just quit on you and you should replace the mainboard. another possibility would be that the phone is fine and the battery is broken. the easiest way to tell which one it is would be to charge the battery directly in a docking station or external wall charger or get a new battery for it and try and charge it in the phone, see if it behaves any differently than your phone does now. if you are lucky, you can get your hands on either one from a store with a good return policy, so if that does not do the trick, you can return it as used only once and get your money back.
sadly, if this didn't help, you might want to say goodbye to your beloved blackstone, because replacing the mainboard is a lot of work and might become quite pricey for a device that is hardly worth 100eur these days.

Thanks for your answer!
I person I know has a working blackstone and I will ask him to lend me the battery. I am not good at soldering and I wouldn't bother with changing the board at all.
I cross my fingers and hope it works, because I loved this phone so far, it could do anything...
Got the battery from that guy, tested the phone and still it wont charge...
too bad, then probably your usb port and/or mainboard is fried. if you want to hold on to the phone, get an external charger, like a docking station with 2nd battery charger, kinda like this (not this exact one obviously, as it is for the galaxy s2): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-Sync-C...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item2a16087f53
or a direct battery charger like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-1530-bat...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item3cbebda52d
Once again thanks, but I have already have made my plans!
The phone itself is far from broken, so I am going to make it an entertainment device, for home use. No battery. Just a 3.7 DC transformer, acting like a battery. For the move, a simple nokia dumphone does the work!
Going to get back on you when I complete the project.

Before I throw my G1 to bin - charging issue

Hi,
I checked many threads with no solution so this is last chance
Did someone recover the phone from no charging issues ? Even if this is hardware.
I have mine old G1 and wanted to give it a second life. I noticed that it does not charge when off (no led) and when on (led red >orange, status on the phone "charging"). It only charge in fastboot mode (led off). I got new battery, charger etc.
I saw it is common thing but last posts are like from 2010. Does not help: wipe battery, changing radio, battery or charger.
It is 1,6 superD.
Maybe it cost low to repair if it is hardware. How the hell it can be it charge in fastboot?
I would get along with it if it was bricked but in this case - it works but does not work if you know what I mean.
Ciao
try cleaning out the usb port with like a toothpick and some rubbing alcohal, my guess is its hardware and the pins to charge normally are damaged but the pin to work in fastboot mode are still intact. if this is the reason why its bad you would either need to solder a new port to the daughterboard (really tricky unless you are a master @ fine soldering)
or replace the whole daughterboard. which of course is very hard to find by itself. more than likley you will have to by a broken/used phone off ebay (maybe as cheap as 10 bucks) with a working usb but whatever else broken and swap daughterboards, pretty easy to do.
but maybe double check if its firmware/software first by reflashing new rom or doubtfully a new radio/spl
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Thanks a lot for the reply.
Indeed buying something with broken screen would do. My soldering capabilities ends on swaping capacitors, far away from micro soldering
Anyway, I tried all other things you have mentioned.
Cheers!
