quick question: how to confirm 100% CID unlocked? - P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc.

I've got a replacement Orbit on the way to replace the previous one that died. Am planning to put the touchflo ROM on it and as I'm being paranoid want a method to check 100% that I've successfully CID unlocked it with Pof's tool.
How can I check?

if your spl is 1.11 you should be CID unlocked....

Why should I unlock CID?

sorry about the dumb question but why would one unlock CID?
Besides, the fact that I dont know what CID really is, I am not able to find the answer to the need/advantage of an unlocked CID.
If I purchase a SIM unlocked phone from any third party vendor (not form a Phone provide under a year's contract) I am able to flush the ROM (such as the GPS enable HTC ROM) as I like, correct?
So, why the need to unlock this CID? Is this procedure only necessary for phones sold through a provider or in order to flash with ROM releases from Dopod, O2 or any other then HTC directly?
Thanks for any explanation!
SIM unlocking is different from CID unlocking.
SIM unlocking lets you put a sim card from any phone company in.
CID unlocking lets you put any ROM on that you want because your phone is not looking for specific security codes to authenticate the ROM as official or genuine.
Just because the phone is SIM free, doesnt mean it's CID unlocked.
Actually CID unlocking only lets you install signed ROMs from other vendors than the one you originally bought your device from.
Des developed SSPL which allows you to do the same, and even flash unsigned (cooked) roms, you can also use CustomRUU which automatically pushes Des SSPL on your phone for you before flashing the ROM or use HardSPL (which is SSPL but flashed into the phone).
This means nowadays you can flash any ROM without the need to CID unlock your device, and retaining your original CID keeps the warranty, so there's no real need to CID unlock your Trinity anymore.

thank you very much for the explanation!
I am still not understanding everything (Des SSPL, HardSPL, etc) but apparently I am not really required to unlock CID, since I am planing on keeping the warranty alive and only use official HTC ROM's.
Thank you!

How to restore a Simlock

I have a tytn and I used the pof application to unlock the simlock?
For purposes I won't get into, I need to restore the simlock. It was originally with Rogers. I have already restore the ROM, not the radio, and have yet to downgrade the SPL/IPL but will do so after I am satisfied with the restoration.
Thanks
unless I missed something on pof's thread, once u sim unlock then it's always unlocked.
I actually don't see it posted anywhere if it is possible to reverse the sim unlock for warranty purposes...

SuperCID from bootloader ?

Hi guys, I have quite a problem. I tried to downgrade my Typhoon from WM6 back to WM2003, but after I flashed new SPL I figured out I have locked CID and now when I turn on the phone it just goes to the bootloader and I can't flash any ROM because mtty says "Not allow operation !". So my question is: Is it possible to unlock CID only from the bootloader or flash any other ROM ? Thanks and sorry for my english.
I've got the same trouble since two years ago...
But nobody told me how to solve that, and my typhoon is almost dead...
If anyone has any idea, it would be great!!

[Q] SIM Locked in WP7.8, but Goldcard done

Hello everybody,
I'm facing a problem with my HTC HD2 :
The TouchScreen wasn't responding, so I removed all and decided to go back to stock rom (FRA) (WP6.5)
So I did the Goldcard trick, and successfully installed the FRA stock Rom (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_FRA_3.14.406.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship).
So here, my phone must be unbranded right ?
After, I decided to install this rom (WP7.8) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833)
So I changed SPL 3.03.0000 to HSPL 2.08.0000, and installed MAGLDR1.13.
So I run the RUU and it works, I launched the WP7.8 Rom, but i get stuck on the PIN screen, just after I type my code : "This SIM card can only be used on specific networks"
Did I missed something to unbrand my phone ?
Thanks for help
you must SIM unlock phone... goldcard method only debrand
you must purchase SIM unlock code with phone IMEI...
also you must flash stock Wm 6.5 EU ROM to SIm unlock phone... after that you flash magldr and WP7.8
