I can imagine how annoying this can be,
silly questions and such,
I have a t-mobile phone (pw10a1),
and I was wondering which rom to cook,
or whether I can use the one posted here?
Since its a T-Mobile I'd go with ROM 4.00.16.
HTH
I'm using the ROM version 4.00.16(T-Mobile) with T-Mobile's newest radio stack 6.24.00.
(Kitchen Cooked)
Been the best this phone has ever worked! No more dropped calls, no more much of any problems!
New to this site and I have a Canadian Rogers HTC Touch elf Rom version 2.21.631.1 wwe dated 10/05/07 I am tired of the fact that all the other cell companies in Canada are offering the upgrade to 6.1. I have contacted Rogers and they said nothing was tested for their network yet and didn't even know if was going to be offered. I have recently notice that Sprint in US is offering the upgrade and their work on gsm same as rogers. Has anyone tested the rom on a Rogers phone and does it work. I am getting frustrated. I am not skilled enough or too nervous to experiment with cooked roms. I need all my current features but want the 6.1
Does anyone know if the proccess for rooting a GSM hero will work on rooting the sprint version of the hero when it comes out?
Trying to decide between the unlocked GSM version keeping AT&T and only having edge or dropping AT&T and picking up the hero on sprint on the 11th.
Thanks
Did you ever get an answer. I can't believe that all these sprint users have not came up with something yet. I can't find it

From everything Ive read online...the process is completely different and you're at risk of bricking your phone.
That said, I haven't tried it and could be wrong.
But everything Ive read says you can't do it at the moment.
Theres been many questions and posts about this. The answer is no...you cant root the cdma yet...i cant wait until we can though. Our phone is still very new
Hi,
I have an HTC Hero that I bought from TELUS. Its running on the American 3G Band. I unlocked it and am running it on a different carrier (Fido). My question is, when HTC comes out with 2.1 ROM for stock European versions on their site, can I use that on my current Hero and still have 3G?
Thanks for your replies everyone!
Yep, you should be fine. AFAIK, the only difference between the NA and EU versions of the GSM Hero is the radio frequency, which I'm pretty sure the OS is ignorant of.
If you want to be safe though, keep your eye on this:
http://www.htc.com/ca/support/hero-telus/downloads/
I don't foresee the European updates being released any earlier than the Telus update, unless there's some hangup to do with the Google Navigation localization.
I would personally wait for the Telus update myself. Or root your phone and start using custom ROMs. If you do that, I can guarantee you'll get the 2.1 update whenever HTC releases it for any GSM Hero.
Hey I appreciate that speedy and helpful response
Hi folks!
I'm on Alltel right now and we're soon to go defunct. I want to be able to sell my and my wife's Hero's once that happens, but since Alltel wont exist any more i'm not sure if that would be...ethical (selling a phone for a defunct phone company).
I know this phone works on the Sprint network, so is there any way to convert (not sure of the nomenclature) my Alltel phone for use on the Sprint network?
Thanks guys, hope that makes sense.
You would have to load a Sprint PRL onto the device and manually program it work with sprint, then load a Sprint ROM but I'm not sure that Sprint would allow a non-sprint branded device on their network... Pretty much the same instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794506
but replace verizon with sprint . And you would have to google the settings in which to modify or someone here can read you their settings for it to work
Hmm...good point. Nice thing is that there is no Alltel branding on the phone itself. I'm wondering if i could take it down to a Sprint store and have them flash their software onto it? Would that work?
yes it would work, but more of a question, would they do it?

So, if they could do it, wouldn't it be possible for me to find the RUU that they'd just flash on the phone and do it myself, without all the rigmarole of that Verizon thread?
If not, that's cool, i'm just curious
Theoritically, yes, however, to my knowledge, Verizon Doesn't sell a Hero they sell the Eris is which is the Hero + proximity sensor, so you would be hard pressed to find a Verizon RUU for the Hero . and even if you did, it doesn't change the internal settings to use Verizon towers, it just changes the looks.

I believe he's trying to get it to work with Sprint.
Sent from my Cyanogen flavored frozen yogurt.
Well in that case, Sprint Does sell a hero, but good luck in getting them to activate a non-sprint phone. It's all just politics folks!

I can confirm that Sprint WILL NOT activate a non-Sprint branded phone on to their network. I last tried about 8 months ago. I doubt they've changed since then.
