[Q] Alltel CDMA Hero flashed to Sprint? - Hero CDMA General

Hi folks!
I'm on Alltel right now and we're soon to go defunct. I want to be able to sell my and my wife's Hero's once that happens, but since Alltel wont exist any more i'm not sure if that would be...ethical (selling a phone for a defunct phone company).
I know this phone works on the Sprint network, so is there any way to convert (not sure of the nomenclature) my Alltel phone for use on the Sprint network?
Thanks guys, hope that makes sense.

You would have to load a Sprint PRL onto the device and manually program it work with sprint, then load a Sprint ROM but I'm not sure that Sprint would allow a non-sprint branded device on their network... Pretty much the same instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794506
but replace verizon with sprint . And you would have to google the settings in which to modify or someone here can read you their settings for it to work

Hmm...good point. Nice thing is that there is no Alltel branding on the phone itself. I'm wondering if i could take it down to a Sprint store and have them flash their software onto it? Would that work?

yes it would work, but more of a question, would they do it?

So, if they could do it, wouldn't it be possible for me to find the RUU that they'd just flash on the phone and do it myself, without all the rigmarole of that Verizon thread?
If not, that's cool, i'm just curious

Theoritically, yes, however, to my knowledge, Verizon Doesn't sell a Hero they sell the Eris is which is the Hero + proximity sensor, so you would be hard pressed to find a Verizon RUU for the Hero . and even if you did, it doesn't change the internal settings to use Verizon towers, it just changes the looks.

I believe he's trying to get it to work with Sprint.
Sent from my Cyanogen flavored frozen yogurt.

Well in that case, Sprint Does sell a hero, but good luck in getting them to activate a non-sprint phone. It's all just politics folks!

I can confirm that Sprint WILL NOT activate a non-Sprint branded phone on to their network. I last tried about 8 months ago. I doubt they've changed since then.

[Q] LG-LS980

I just got my hands on one, great phone, best I've ever had.
I got offered a job out of the country and will probably be moving to Brazil soon, did anyone have any luck unlocking this phone yet? I know the phone is both GSM and CDMA, and it also has a SIM card slot, I haven't tried just putting another SIM card on it yet. It might be a little too soon since I think the sprint variant just came out, but thought I'd ask.
Thank you
Don't worry, it is already unlocked for any gsm carrier. I use it in Asia with local sim card without any problems.

Apologies for digging this back up, but I have just arrived in Brazil, what setting did you use for it to recognize the SIM card? I put it in and it definitely does not ask me for a SIM unlock code, and sprints manual for it says that it isn't SIM locked. Again, apologies, it's just that the G2 is just sitting here for now.
Edit: Ah I just realized you have the Verizon variant of the phone, mine is the Sprint one The Verizon is indeed unlocked out of the box. I'd like to know about the Sprint one.
Also have a sprint ls980 and is locked
Call sprint to unlock it for you over the phone?
Last year I called sprint first before international travel, then I was given some instructions (thanks the representative) to open the service menu in the phone (moto photon) and made some changes to it.
After landed in China I bought a sim card and got the phone up to a GSM network. It took me some more time to find out and set APN settings correctly to enable data connection. Store guys there were smart looking but seemed not familiar with adopting sprint phones.
Later I even spared some time to download local CDMA radio firmware and flashed it to the phone, and finally was able to use the phone on CDMA network there. I had to flash the photon back to sprint radio once landed in LA.

Unfortunately I'm not a sprint customer, I was given this as a gift by someone who didn't know about the whole carrier locking dilemma. Most of the other GSM-able sprint phones have been unlocked by users also, and on the other hand, on new phones, it takes sprint quite some time to figure out how to unlock it themselves, at least from what I've been reading.

These unfortunately don't work as with sprint there isn't an unlock code to even put in when you put another SIM card on the phone.
Dammit! I've ordered few LG G2 Sprint, for use with GSM services overseas, but now I see that I'm in trouble cause of that Sprint's lock!!
Is there any solution???

As of now I don't think there is a solution, I have not heard of anyone who's actually gotten it unlocked yet, not even from sprint, I think we'll have to wait a while before we see any unlocking business.

[Q] Domestic Unlock of Sprint G2

I broke my sprint phone, but I can upgrade to a new phone now on Sprint. I want to use the Sprint One Up Plan for a bit, then leave the contract since I don't believe it has a contract. I plan on using the G2 as my replacement. I want to move to T-Mobile later, and I know the G2 can be used on Sprint. I also have read here that the G2 comes factory locked by Sprint, and Sprint will one unlock it for international use. Is there something that I could flash to the G2 to allow me to use it on T-Mobile when I switch?
Basically, how can I use domestic USA GSM on a Sprint LG G2?
I will at least root and unlock the phone internationally first anyway, since I need to use outside of the country. Flashing ROMs and things like that is not a problem for me.

No this will not work at all.. T mobile and Sprint G2's are completely different.. If you want to move to T mobile, move.. Otherwise stay with sprint!

Is it possible, after I finish with Sprint, I could flash the firmware and modem of T-Mobile's G2?
Would any of those unlock codes for the IMEI work, since it supports GSM?
Thats risky due to the fact that tmo uses different bands than sprint plus the radio waves are different and sprint is gsm and tmo is cdma

Sprint is CDMA and T-Mobile is GSM...
Anyway, I know the G2 supports all of the bands, so I don't see why this can't happen. Sprint has just locked away the domestic GSM capabilities. Why is flashing theT-Mobile modem such a risk then? WOuld I be able to flash it back?

Sorry always get that bavkwards the issue is with two things the radio, which you said you could flash the modem no problem. Then the biggest issue is the sim card now im not sure if the sprint variant has a sim card slot. But from what my buddy has told me who is a tmobile phone tech they dont have away to enable your service with out the sim card. For some reason they dont do their services like most carriers and just use the phones imei number to set service. If im wrong im sorry and hopefully you can get everything switched. And thank you for the imformation i did not know the g2 has all bands hidden inside the phone. I was just worried that the radio bands would get you. And to answer your question yes you can always just flash them back.

No problem. If I helped give me my first thank you. I'm going to go to the Sprint Store soon and see what they say. The Nexus 5 seems to be compatible with any carrier, but I like the G2 just a bit better. Sprint has a help topic regarding replacing the SIM , so that is not an issue. Hopefully someone else can tell me if the G2 can have a different modem flashed.
I don't want to take any unneccessary risks flashing, because that is what broke my last two Sprint phones lol.

So where do I get the files? And can you confirm this has a good chance of succeeding?
It will not work.. Sprint doesn't unlock the phone for domestic US GSM carriers and the 2 models for Sprint and T-Mobile are completely different. You flash anything like the radios and you'll have a massive brick. If you want to move between carriers, get the Nexus 5.

As far as the files go I can search here for a thread. And I'm sorry man I will not confirm for you the chance of success because any thing can happen but before you do any thing I recommend you talk to both sprint and tmo in your area
You will not get domestic GSM service with Sprint atm. Hang it up until a solution if any will come. Even after that, it will never be fully compatible with Tmob bands. I love/hate Verizon.

AT&T LG G2 unlock for t moblie 411

Hi,
I did an unlock for this phone that i found in these forums. I have a generic tmobile sim card and put that in after i got the unlock code. from there i typed in the info and tmobile showed up on the banner.
well, i took the phone to a guy to trade for another, and now he's telling me he isn't getting any data, just phone and texting. of course, he's telling me this long after we made the trade.
is there any reason he wouldn't be getting data? or does an unlocked lg g2 only get edge speeds or something?
any help would be great.
My first guess is that he doesn't have the correct APN settings put in for his carrier.
You should let everyone know if the device is a stock rom, or another rom. Since the stock AT&T rom should not have the APN settings for Tmobile, but something like CM's rom should.
Worst case he should just need to enter the APN settings by hand, which isn't too hard to do. Other then that he could be in an area where Tmobile uses different bands for data then the AT&T version supports... that part I don't know how much it effects the AT&T G2, but has effected older devices going between AT&T and Tmobile.

Google would be your friend in this case, or his actually.
And can't blame them too much, they aren't given all the training that they should be given. They are just sales people, not tech trained most of the time. Every time I go into the AT&T store that I like, I end up talking unlocking & rooting for Android devices since they aren't told anything about that stuff. And I do let them know if they are truly interested to look here for more help.

Possible to use a Sprint HTC 10 on Verizon with unlimited data & hotspot?

Hi all,
I didn't see anything from reading through the forum on using a Sprint HTC 10 on Verizon. It sounds like there's been success with Tmobile and AT&T.
So far, this is what I've found:
-Sprint HTC 10 should have all the LTE bands necessary for Verizon
-Sprint HTC 10 needs to be sim unlocked before anything can be done
-S-Off + root are required for any potential workaround for Verizon, as the appropriate radio needs to be flashed
How far off base am I? I am intrigued because I am on Verizon and I'd like to take advantage of the sprint HTC 10 sale that's supposedly going on right now. Thanks in advance!
I have the same question. I'm trying to jump on that but for T-Mobile. I'm just worried I won't be able to get the device unlocked.
Historically, Verizon and Sprint don't activate each others' phones. They're the two big CDMA carriers that don't use SIM cards, but activate by ESN directly. But there are always those who get lucky.
? anythin
I've been working on that recently. I actually want to be able to switch between Sprint and Verizon.
Sprint has to activate both the phone and the SIM. Verizon has moved to just using SIM cards. I've been able to move a Verizon SIM between devices and have everything work, even on devices that aren't official Verizon devices and even some that only support part of the bands Verizon uses and work on the ones they support.
With the HTC 10, I've been able to get S-OFF and unlock the phone myself since Sprint wouldn't do it. When I put in my Verizon SIM, it recognizes it but for whatever reason is unable to connect to anything but 1X Roaming (probably on Sprint but it won't say). Poking around in CDMAtool hasn't helped much.
I'll update this if I ever figure it out.
Any updates? I'm curious myself. I have the Sprint HTC 10 and am working on finding an MVNO that I like, some of the Verizon ones are tempting.

By perfectly do you mean volte and Wi-Fi calling are working for you? If so please point to the guide you used. I can't find where anyone using a sprint 10 has gotten those things on T-Mobile.
I would be surprised if a sprint 10 used on Verizon would have that work too but haven't seen any mention of it.

I unlocked the bootloader and installed ViperRom, picking the US Unlocked version as my device. I have working VoLTE, but not wifi calling. (Note, this is on Mint Sim, which uses the T-Mobile network)
yeah it would be great if someone could give a for sure answer to this. I've found a lot of post giving conflicting information all over xda and r/htc10 about this. I would love to buy a used sprint htc 10 (seems to be the cheapest version by far) and use it on a verizon mvno, but until I know for sure it works I' not going to do it.

Non us HTC 10 to sprint network

Hi, I made a mistake and bought a new non US unlocked HTC 10. I tired to hook it up to sprint with no success. My ultimate goal would be to make it work normally on Sprint network.
I have done a lot of searching, and it seems like I can unlock the phone, flash sprint ruu, and flash radios to make it work on sprint?
Can I clone my original sprint HTC 10?
Or am I S.OL.?
I would appreciate any help and guidance with my mission, or if it's even possible to get this phone working.
Thanks!!
Did you ever go through with this? I am interested in upgrading to an HTC 10 as it has the form factor (what is with the trend toward giant phones?) and features that are otherwise unavailable in any of the current crop of unlocked Sprint compatible phones. It seems like the only new HTC 10 models still available are the unlocked version. I understand that this method works for Verizon, but I haven't yet seen confirmation on Sprint.
