Hi,
after my original battery dead, I bought and used batt from Cameron Sino. Since this time, green and blue diodes don't blink and don't light. So I tried different battery from Hongkong - no change. Now, I have original battery manufactured by Dynapack, Taiwan. I hoped, original battery would solves my problem, but there is no change again. When I turn back for my first old original battery, diodes don't work too. :-(
Is it possible, that Cameron Sino battery causes some hardware damage? Does anyone know, how to solve this problem?
P.S. Only orange diode blinks (notification) and lights (charging) well with all of my batteries...

Hi, Can anyone help?
I plugged my XDA 2 into my home pc's USB port using its cradle. I noticed it began to over heat, now the the top righthand power recharge light stays on (active) all the time even when it is not in its cradle, in addition to this that battery dies very very quickly e.g 15mins.
I have not been able to find any fault codes relating to the yellow light ( this should normally show only when the phone is charging.) I have tried updating the ROM and also a new battery but the problem remains.
I'd be really gratful for some advice.
thx
If it overheated it is either a short on the cradle, a short in the pda connector, a short in the battery or too much voltage. I would suspect the first three, sounds like the battery is now cooked. This is a warranty issue I think.
Do you think I could repair this my self maybe a blewn fuse or somthing ?
REGULATOR/ZENER DIODE PROBLEM.

YGPM MAKHAN
When I try to charge my Universal the red led stays on and it does not power up. I didn't try to update, unlock,...
It seems like it died all of a sudden. I already tried a new batter, hard/soft-reset, keeping it on the charger all night, removing battery for over a week, using different chargers...
Is there something like a battery switch like the Magician has?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Does anyone have voltage readings from the batteries small pins?
Dunno what to tell you, mine goes red when the battery is compleatly drained, and stays red untill its about 5% charged.
It also happens if your battery isn't connected when you plug in, so you might want to make sure that the connections are clean and not lint covered or something.
thanks for your help! I tried this, but no effect at all.
I tried to read the voltages from my battery. It says 1,4V on the small pins and 4,18 on the big ones. 1,4 on the small ones seems a bit low. The service manual doesn't give any information about the small pins
Red LED and the device not turning on meant a hardware failure for me -- had to give it in for repair -- fixed within a day but beat my head to a pulp tryin to figure out what was wrong.
Hi
I have an orange SPV M3100 which died on me a few months back and I think its a repair job to be honest, It was running low on battery and I simply connected the charger and the phone immediately switched off and displayed a red led, i looked at the tip of the charger (Mini-usb type) and noticed that the bottom of the tip was slightly bent up as if it had been stood on or something.
Since then the phone wont switch on, charge or anything, its even stopped displaying the red led, I have tried the following.
1. Tried alternative chargers
2. Tried connecting to USB on PC
3. Tried resetting, removing battery and connecting to charger and putting battery on whiclst connected to power.
all of the above does nothing, I have thought about buying another battery but dont really want to go to the expense of buying a bettery to find that its completely dead anyhow
Any advice chaps?
Thanks
Will
I have the same problem, last night was browsing the web on wifi and the phone simply switched of, thought it might be the battery was dead so i hooked it up to the charger, the phone'sred led came up, came down this morning and it is still red..not green and it will not now power up....it must be something simple can any one help..?
ctasystems, if the red LED doesn't come on you may have fried you phone... If the power on the usb charger connected with the data part of the Hermes it may have fried the mainboard. I say this as this happened to my Imate Jam. The only thing I could suggest is if you know someone else with the same phone then try their battery and charger. If it works then its the battery &/or charger. If it doesn't then you've got something to sell on ebay - it will get you some cash to put towards a new phone...
hooperman, does sound like the battery BUT it sounds more like the battery is completely stuffed. As above, change the battery with a friends battery or go to the shop and see if they have a spare around you can try... The red LED means the hardware is still functioning so that would be my advice or purchase a cheap battery off of ebay.....
Cheers...
Hi !
I searched already around the forum, but I didn't find anything for my problem:
Yesterday my device turned off because of low battery (while listening music), then I tried to charge it with the original charger over night. Today in the morning the device was not charged but the amber/organge LED was blinking.
When I put on the charger the red led turns on, after a few seconds the amber led starts blinking then after a few minutes the led turns again red an then again blinking amber and so on ...
I can boot up Windows mobile bu after a few secounds the deivce turns off an then again red led an blinking amber ...
I did a softreset and a hardreset but still no charging.
I tried another battery from a neighbour, the device works fine, but still a blinking amber led (not always-on) when connect on the charger.
Can anybody help me ?
Sorry for my bad english ..
Have you tried using your friend's phone charger?
The problem has been discussed. It is known as the RLOD (Red light of Death) and is reported against many different phones and brands. It is likely a fault in:
1
The phones charging circuit
OR
2
A faulty battery
OR
3 A faulty USB port (bent pin or cracked solder joint)
OR
4
A cracked solder joint between the battery connector and m/board
In my experience it is most likely to be a faulty (stuck) charging circuit.
The following link may be useful, and it is worth persevering. I once had a phone that took several days to get started again:

@gypsygirl: I tried two different chargers which are working fine which another device (xda neo)
@mikechannon:
I think its a problem with the charging circut or the usb port (otherwise the data connection works when connected to the pc).
I tried the battery from my friend with 90 % battery left and put on the charger and ist doesn't start charging, only blinking amber ...
I guess I will buy an external cradle for charging the battery, not the best way, but so i can use the device ...
When there is any solution for a cracked charging circut, i will try it out ...
Thanks for help
Hi there,
Recently my phone started showing odd behaviour. The LED's would flash alternately green and orange while charging. I've seen a few other bits and pieces here about this on the site, but there never seemed to be a clear resolution. I understand it has to do with the battery charging. It occurs when my phone is on charge off mains.I'm just wondering if it has to do with heat, as I find my phone is quite warm when the flashing LEDs occur. It happens on both my original HTC battery, plus my spares. It is worrying me quite a bit, so any recommendations would be most useful.
Thanks,
David
I've been having the same thing happen with me
are you using stock battery? if not it is cause by the aftermarket battery that have bad censorship that cause the phone to detect high temp. orange and green flashing light means your phone/battery is heating so it cant be charged. try to reboot your device and charge in a more cooling area. hope it helps
It was happening on both my stock HTC battery and my additional batteries that I bought. I let my phone charge in a cooler spot, and it seems to have been ok. Ordered myself a pair of Momax batteries, as I no longer trust the other batteries I bought. Will see if they help.
ive had this lately but only when the phone is overheating, once the back cools off it charges up as it should
I have literualy posted about the exact same thing on my phone about 2 mins ago. i have read that it can either be the battery or possibly even the charger. i have just order a new extended battery with cover for my phone and it wont charge. post find here
