Verizon 6800 "coming soon" ?? - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have been looking in great detail at the new crop of WM6 devices, after almost buying the Sprint Mogul last month (my current carrier).
Does anyone here know the specs and release date for the Verizon 6800 - it's pictured in their new catalog ??
Specifically we like everything about the Mogul except lack of Rev A and now GPS enabled. Any new info on when these "updates" will take place ??? Just read somewhere that Sprint Rev A might be next Spring !!

Should be Same Spec like the Mogul, except different carrier.

Thanks, but I would hope that Verizon - because Sprint has had a 6 month headstart - would deliver GPS and REV A out-of-the-gate (if they ever were going to )?? When I went today to my local Verizon staore to look at the new Samsung i760 (which they told me a week ago to come back Nov 2nd), they didn't have a date for the 6800, nor any release date or specs.
The pattern is Verizon release to the web first - the i760 was available on the web since mid-Oct.
Any Verizon insiders out there ??

Well this is just based off RUMORS, but they are suppossedly pretty credible info, the XV6800 should be available for web order very soon 11-10 and in stores 11-21.
As far as the release rom, HTC has said as far as the Sprint side is concerned, there will be a major Rom upgrade Q1 2008 (rumored to be the RevA Rom), so I would doubt there will be Rev A on Verizon before that.
It seems to me (just a guess) Verizon has been waiting until the Bluetooth issues were worked out so they could release a mostly "bug free" device, as in the Sprint Rom update on 10-22 that was supposedly going to fix everything but didn't.
The update was taken down by HTC a few days later, so where does that leave Verizon?? Who knows they most likely have their XV6800's loaded with a Rom similar to the updated Sprint Rom that was pulled.

How do you know those dates? Trying to verify... I'm also waiting for this phone.
I can see the 11/21 being true cause I heard that too but what about 11/10? I don't see Verizon putting out a phone on the weekend...
People who work at Verizon can already order the phone so it's ready to go. I would say online release this coming week.

Replacing a dead Hermes.. should I wait?

My Hermes has died on me (long story; it's not recoverable without a $600 USD new system board)...
My question is... should I wait for "the next thing" from HTC, or should I get another TyTN/Hermes. I loved my phone, and would love to have another one, but the Hermes has been out for almost a year now, and I assume HTC is about to start releasing new phones.
The Trinity is a nice phone ... other than not having a keyboard (wtf?).
Basically -- anyone know if the "next generation" TyTN is coming out soon, with a faster CPU and *prays* GPS?
I don't want to wait too long - I've fallen back to my Motorola L6, and everytime I look at it I feel like I'm going to cry.

Oh wow.. *drools* That's a beautiful phone. Interesting how they got rid of the slider, too.
My problem will be having the patience to wait until June-July. :-D
Of course, I waited five months for the TyTN to become available here in the US, so I guess I can wait three months for the Kaiser.
Thanks!
Of course if you are really patient you will wait 9 months and the price will have dropped as well But that's far too sensible for all of us here I'm sure!!
Mike
HTC Kaiser - when?
I really want this phone. GPS + 3g = say goodbye to my Wizard.
Question is - the estimated US release date is June 2007. For those of you who have followed HTC for a while - how accurate do you think this is? Will it be available unlocked online before I can buy it from Cingular? How long will it take for Cingular to start selling it after it is officially released? (Assuming they're planning to sell it at all)
Cheers.....

I'm pretty sure Cingular will have it, because they've been testing HSUPA over the past few months -- and the Kaiser is one of the first (and only) ones that has been announced that will have it. It will probably end up replacing the 8525.
Going by the Hermes/TyTN schedule... the TyTN was announced to be released in June 2006. It didn't show up in the US until August, but those were imported models. A lot of the early models had some big problems (screen, keyboard, etc). They really started to roll into the US in October.
Cingular started testing the 8525 in September 2006. They didn't launch it until December (I think?). They had to tweak the HSDPA network to handle the TyTN/8525.
I bet those dates will be around the same for this new phone. Cingular/AT&T will be testing out the HSUPA network with this thing..

Upgraded Version of Mogul???

I usually don't post much here but I love the site for finding out new information about my phones. I just got off the phone with sprint changing my plan to the "simply everything" plan. I asked about this update that's supposed to be released. The person on the phone stated that they haven't been hearing anything else about the update because all the talk is about the upgraded verson of the Mogul that's launching the first week of April. I asked him is there a PPC-6900 or something about to launch. He said he didn't have much more information than that. Then he went into how I would be eligible for x amount of dollars off if I upgraded my phone when the new one launched. My question is, has anyone heard about this "upgraded version of the mogul?" If so, were there any specs released yet?

That's odd. I mean the XV6900 is the TOUCH so that wouldn't be it. I'm assuming that they are referring to the Software Update that they have been promising for a while already.

More RAM? If so, it could be a pathway toward folks on here figuring out what's needed to ramp the RAM up from 64 to 128.

I don't about more RAM. As that is more like a hardware replacement rather then a software upgrade. It is more like better Bluetooth Drivers, GPS support, Rev. A support, and maybe some new apps to use GPS.
It would suck of they tied the use of GPS to an app like TELENAV. That way you would have to pay for the use of GPS.
I have no idea...And I didn't know that the touch was the 6900 until after I hung up with Sprint.
He wouldn't tell me what model the "upgraded version" was or even if it was a new device. I gathered from the conversation that it was a new device because he went into how I was eligible for a x dollar savings if I upgraded my phone when the new one launches (the 1st week of April). It was all really weird to me though. So I threw it up here and hopefully some of you pros up here can expand on it.
Maybe something like a 6850?
I doubt there is a new version coming any time soon. New hardware gets leaked all over the internet months and months ahead of release by any carrier.
Hope this Helps!!
Today, Sprint released a software update for the HTC Mogul, transforming it into the first EV-DO Revision A capable handset in the States. Compared to the Rev. 0, the new revision doubles the download speeds (600-1400 kbps instead of 400-700 kbps) and offers seven times faster upload (350-500 kbps instead of 50-70kbps).

Go back up one level and look at the main listings from today. It's full of posts and threads about the new ROM update.
My guess is that beginning the 1st week of April, Sprint will begin shipping Moguls with the newly released update. That would make sense right?

G2 ( MyTouch ) Unofficially Confirmed By Tmobile Reps

Hey guys, Just wanted to let everyone know, I dropped by the T-mobile store ( USA ) today to ask around and see if anybody there knew about the G2 ( MyTouch, What tmobile will be calling it when released. )
Unlike many of the rumors according to online sources, it is in fact, coming to T-mobile only. Thats right, T-mobile is the only company to get the badass phone xD!
I asked a buddy of mine that worked there about release dates and other cool new things coming for T-mobile users. He told me the G2 (MyTouch) is scheduled to be released mid/late of next month. Yep, in August. And that they had a manager down in San antonio Texas, training on the phone as we speak. I will be going back tomorrow when he gets back in town, and get all the juicy details and post them here! ( And if he lets me, some pictures ) And also we have another goody coming to us, Were aren't at 3g JUST quite yet. But August 1st, We will be getting EDGE everywhere on the T-mobile network. That was guaranteed from the store manager there. And 3G will be coming for us, sometime around december of this year. ( 3G everywhere ) not just in metro areas. ( Hurray for all the country people....IE....me )
Now I know this isn't an official saying or whatever. I don't have links, and I don't have sources you guys know and trust. But I do trust buddies of mine and the people that work at this T-mobile store. They haven't let me down yet. So, I guess we can only wait and see if it does come to T-mobile only.
Like someone said though, and I totally agree. T-mobile would be complete idiots to let this phone go to someone else. If it was to happen. There not dumb. So hurray for t-mobile users. We should have our brand new MyTouch at the end of August. So we don't have to wait to much longer guys!

If you go to the T-mobile myTouch website it has a countdown timer. It says 20 days and some change. Also lets you see all the info and features of it.
Of course it will be the same thing as the HTC Magic on Vodafone and Rogers...
Exactly. Seems like tmobile is actually the LAST to be getting it....
In fact, Im getting a vodafone magic shipped to me tomorrow. I have at&t, and I will have it before T-mobile!
lol i double checked the date when he posted pre-sale is already done too it started july 7th and from my confirmation mine should arrive aug 3rd
Oh and welcome to the forums

I love how on all their promotions they are quick to include " super fast 3G" network. Here in Jacksonville, Fl. it will be 2012 be fore we get 3g. By then eveyone else will have 4 or 5g. I am really starting to hate Tmobile.
But phone looks great. I think I will stick with my G1. I like the real keyboard, just me though.

seriously? the presale started july 8. the preorders are being shipped at the beginning of august. these two things have been known and officially announced facts for at least a month now.
but the other guys are quite correct, the same phone has been out on the european market since at least the first week of may.
by the way, confirming all of this would have been as simple as checking the t-mobile website.

go to any local T-mobile store. they were all issued 3-4 phones to show customers one of each color at least. The packaging is really nice also. leather bag with a nice cloth sack, and nice headphones and usb/charger
"badass" phone? Yeah... with a whopping 192mb of RAM as opposed to the 288 the rest of the planet gets. Badass indeed.
I'm over the MyTouch 3G. I went ahead and bought a used G1 and am saving my upgrade till later this year, early next year till T-mo gets a better Android phone. When I mentioned this to the rep adding my data plan, he implied that as a fellow phone geek, I was doing the right thing and that while he couldn't give details, I would be very happy with what's in the pipeline.
between the four major us carriers, 15-20 android devices are to be released in the next year. so far only three of those are slated for carriers other than TMO. so yes, you'll be happy with whats coming down the pipe.

I wonder how many of those are HTC's? This is definately something to watch.

Why is there no release date?

I don't understand... Both AT&T and TMo have released their phones (although AT&T's isn't suppose to be released until Sunday), yet there still is no release date even announced for the Epic. Futhermore, EVOs are still out of stock. Sprint is really dropping the ball.
I search everyday to see if a release date has been announced as it's the day I move from Verizon, but I'm becoming impatient.
Given that both the CDMA(Sprint, Verizon) versions of the phones have not been given a release date. I am going to guess it has to do with some difficulties or issues with this version.
The GSM(ATT, TMobile) versions were so quick because they are nearly identical to the original.

not necessarily - the Captivate was only submitted to the FCC on 6/11 and is launching just 5 weeks after.
I’m not sure if the FCC makes records available immediately once they’re submitted, or if they wait until after the devices have been approved. In the second case, they could have already been submitted and we still wouldn’t see them listed.
Question to mods - I tried posting a link to the Captivate info on the FCC site, but I'm too new. How long does that restriction last? thx
tweeted by samsung 2 hours ago;
"if you are on Sprint, make sure you pick up the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G. no launch date/price but it's coming out this summer."
I asked them to define summer
You can have the FCC withhold information until it is close to release date..
So far the most precise release date I found was late july -early august for the epic 4g...the verizon one best I found is late august - early fall

Nope, I'm guessing mid to late August. I was chosen to be the store rep who gets the phone early, and I'm expecting the phone this week or next. Usually we get them about a month earlier than the general public.

No just return the Evo say you didn't like it and tell them you want the Epic instead. Pay the difference if any (which I doubt) and walk out with the new phone. If you're buying from a Sprint store be careful this may mess with your rebate, that's why I buy Best Buy Mobile or Radio Shack I hate rebates.
If you swap phones within 30 days, there will be a $35 restocking fee.
As for the Epic, there's no SIM slot, can tell you that with 100% certainty.

By that you mean you actually took apart the device and saw it is not there?
cause so far the specs that were outed a month ago were dead on and there was a mention of it having a SIM slot in there...of course that was possible to be in only the prototype..
gTen, SIM slots are a standard requirement of GSM phones. Sprint is a CDMA based provider. So no, it will not have a SIM slot.
More details here.
Was under the impression worldphone sprint blackberrys have sim cards,
as does iden devices technically. I'm really doubting the epic will be a world phone though

USA - May 24 Announcement, potentially all carriers!!!!!

May 24, New York City
androidcentral.com
almost exactly 11 months after this
intomobile.com
I am sensing SUNDAY June 12th AT&T release of Samsung Galaxy Attain (almost 11 months after the Captivate)!!!
How long was it from when they made the announcement last year did the Galaxy S actually go on sale on AT&T?
Here you go, last years dates I posted earlier
kreoXDA said:
Do you guys remember how the first Galaxy was introduced on the 4 carriers last year?
Let me remind you
June 4th - first release in Asia
June 29th - launch party in New York City where it was first announced that 4 models were coming to 4 carriers, with no dates. (+25 days)
Later on, gradually, release dates were being announced about 1-3 weeks prior to a particular release. The phone was released as follows:
T-Mob - July 15th (+41 days)
AT&T - July 18th (+44 days)
Sprint, keyboarded CDMA version - August 30th (+87 days)
Verizon, CDMA version - September 9th (+97 days)
We learned that SGS1 was even coming to the United States 3.5 weeks after the phone was released in Asia.
The quickest provider T-Mob got it almost 6 weeks after the first country.
The slowest provider VZW - 3 months after.
So give this some time, sit back, relax, wait for bug reports from the UK beta testers , and enjoy your fixed (or maimed) version in a few short weeks.
peace

lol after dealing with the ATT Craptivate for a year I'll gladly "beta test" the vanilla samsung GS2
good luck with your carrier updates. I'm done purchasing US phones "variants" that force you to use reorient kernels for the Roms.
Thanks for the release date info. Looks like they're following a similar schedule... just bumped ahead 1 month from last year =)
Still, as much as I'd like to wait for a US variant... I don't really want to have to sign a contract to get one, nor do I want to put up with the bloatware and filth they put on the phone. Rooting and flashing ROMs on my T-mobile spec Galaxy S was annoying, having to ODIN back to certain firmwares before being able to flash a new ROM.
And the one question that I'm still wondering... will the US be getting a tegra version? That would suck =(

i've been off contract since Dec. i had originally settled on getting the Infuse when it was first announced but instantly fell in love with the SGS2 and decided to wait. but... i need a new phone NOW. actually i needed a new one 2 months ago but decided to hold strong for the SGS2... but it's come to a point where my current phone is damn near unusable, so i think i'm going to get the infuse when it launches and roll the dice on the sgs2 coming out before the remorse period ends. or failing that just give it back and wait some more for the sgs2 to release.
I think the best option for some of us is to buy the carrier branded version on contract, sell it, and use that money to get the vanilla SGS 2. After dealing with all the Captivate issues as well I'm never buying a carrier branded Android ever again.

That's one point where you're crazy. The Captivate is the nicest Galaxy S and has a lot less plastic than any other one. Everyone has told me they liked the Captivate over the other Galaxy S variants. I've been very happy with the Captivate, but not as happy about the AT&T branding and waiting for their crap.
I would much rather spend the money and buy the phone unlocked than buy it from ATT.

If i was on att there would be no doubt id go with international like you said no waiting for carrier update, no carrier branding and missing hardware features.

Only issue I see with this is warranty support. If Samsung US would support a UK model fine, but if it requires international shipping that would give me pause.
What if the US version has NFC? Would that change your mind?
Yes, NFC is useless right now, but wouldn't that at least lower your resell value of the UK version whenever one else in your area has NFC?

Given the fact (I hope) all 4 major carriers are getting it, and AT&T, VZW and T-Mob are in an NFC payment system alliance , the chances of US getting NFC versions are not extremely low

I don't see NFC being that important to me right away. I am guessing by the time it becomes important to me, I will already be looking at another phone.
Also, even though the UK might not be getting the NFC version, you probably will still be able to buy a NFC version unlocked from another country.
Hate to say it... but until the iPhone gets NFC it's not worth worrying about.
Devices still need to be upgraded in stores, airlines, and what not to accept NFC no? The above poster is probably correct, the phones are going to need to be widely available before companies spend the money to upgrade their equipment.

Why, because the iPhone has the market share lead and will dictate what the market will do? No, that's Android.
