Hi Guys,
I am sure this has been asked and answered before but I cant seem to get the search to be specific. Anyway, here is the issue;
I recently upgraded everything on my T-Mobile MDA using the XM6r3 WM6 rom. All appeared to be fine until I changed my PC. Now I am having a problem with active sync and error code when connecting to the exchange server. I have no problems syncing to the local computer but the sync to exchange fails with Support Code 85020006 and then a cannot connect on my wizard. I can disconnect the usb and sync over the air but not with the usb cable.
My connection settings for the device are set to allow usb connections. The allow connections to one of the following is checked as is the allow wireless connection while connected to the desktop.
I have tried to delete the mobile settings but on creating a new sync, things just go back to the Attention required message. I've done a soft reset between deleting and renewing the partnership but no luck. I've also deleted the relationship in the MDA but that does not work either.
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

hello all,
After the installation of ActiveSync, i insert the usb cable to laptop and put the Xda II on cradle, the ActiveSync in computer couldn't find any device (Xda II) and i can't setup the partnership, however, my Xda II display the "connected" only for 2 seconds and then interrupt for ever, i have installed the ActiveSync many times and hardreset the XdaII, but it is still not connected, what's wrong with this? :?: :?: :?:
When the xda 2 is first plugged into usb you should get a message on your laptop screen saying device found htc etc, once this is done activesync should see it. Which version of activesync are you using?
I tried the ActiveSync 3.7 and ActiveSync 3.8, the results are same. The laptop can find the USB, but the ActiveSync can't find the XdaII.
Idea
I am assuming Active Sync works on other computers?
If you are using XP,
Make sure the device is plugged in.
Open up task manager, (Ctr + Alt + Del), go to processes and end task on WCESMgr.exe and or wcescomm.exe.
Right click on My Computer, select Manage. Expand Device manager, Windows CE USB Devices, right click on PocketPC USB Sync and Uninstall, click Yes.
If you see any devices with an explanation point or marked Red, Uninstall them too.
Unplug your device.
Open up Active Sync, under the settings, make sure USB is checked.
Plug in your device.
I have seen this happen if windows did not configure the device properly at first.
As a thank you for my time, send me naked photos of your wife!!! KIDDING!!!!
Thanks for your help, i have done this by following what you said, but it is still not connected. When the laptop find the Device USB first time, the XDAII just display the "connected" for 1&2 seconds. I click the "Error" on XDAII, which is Synchronize with Server, then it displays:
The connection failed due to mising server information or user credentials. Tap Options, and then the Server tab to verify that your server name is correct. Then, tap'Optaions..." to verrify that your user credentials are correct and try again.
I haven't changed ther Server Synchronization in "Option", and my laptop doesn't need any user name and password to logon.
What's wrong with this? How to set up the "Option" in XDAII?
DUDE!!!
It is hella confusing.. BUT... You do not use the Server setting.
I use the Server setting but I have my own Exchange server 2003 and using Exchange Server 2003 Mobile Services, I have my Contacts, Calendar and Inbox always up to date via the Internet, (I have unlimited Internet through T-Mobile for $19 a month).
You need only to use the PC synchronization. Open Active sync, Tools, Options, Options again and check to make sure it is checked and USB is selected, OK, make sure the other two are "Ticked" as well, OK.. Then try.
This Time I only want naked photos of your DOG!!!
There should be some problems with laptop, because everthing is ok when i connect my XDA with other PCs. I can't find what problem is with my laptop. It is running Windows XP professional edition.
Darge, this isnt going to sound very logical, but if you have more than one usb port, please try the other port, I have had similar problems with activesync whic have been resolved by doing this, dont ask me why because i dont know.
May be should try othe type of connection other than USB. Try using either bluetooth or wifi. May be you should search in the forum regarding connection using bluetooth or wifi.
My Xda and laptop are connected and working very well after i reinstalled the Windows XP for my laptop. It was the stupid and only way what i could do, because i have tried all kinds of solutions which were not useful.
Thanks a lot for your advice and help anyway. 8)
hello people
i´ve got a problem with my Activ Sync...
If i want to connect my wizard with my Notebook nothing happend.
i don´t know what´s the problem, because at the beginning there are no problems, but after a hard-reset there´s no connection.
Sorry about my english, it isn`t very good (i´am german ! But I hope someone helps me ...
Here are some informations about my system: Win XP with Active Sync 4.1 and a VPA compact 2 :?: :? [/b]
I have had similar issues with ActiveSync before, and usually what you will end up doing is reinstalling the ActiveSync version that you have on both your laptop and your Wizard. Are you getting any messages at all when you dock your device? Does ActiveSync display a message saying "Trying to connect" or "Looking for device"?
thanks...
the problem was a hub. i had a hub between the wizard and the laptop. without the hub the connection is possible and the problem isn´t there.
but on my desktop, (no hub between desktop and wizard) there´s the problem still existing. the desktop try to connect and search a connection, but... there isn´t any connection...
Troubleshooting ActiveSync is a pain, isn't it? OK, I have a couple of things you can try...hopefully one of them will work...
1. If you have a firewall running (and yes, believe it or not Windows firewall can even be an issue), it needs to be configured to allow ActiveSync applications to work. For that, you'll need to consult the software provider's manual or their web site. Most of them have already identified this as a problem.
2. If you have partnered to this desktop before, make sure that the partnership names haven't changed. In other words your laptop is calling your wizard by the same name as your desktop.
3. Are you running a home network? I think I saw this in another post here, that VPN clients can be an issue because the computer is viewing your mobile hookup as a network connection. Uninstalling the clients can sometimes provide the cure.
I hope that this helps.
shaker,
please ensure you have XP Service Pack 2 on both machines.
ciao!
I've been having a problem for the past week in that I could not connect to my Exchange Server or passthru to the Internet with and ActiveSync connection.
At least for the moment, on the Connections menu, clicking on "USB to PC" and disabling "advanced networking functionality" seems to have resolved the problem.
Anybody else run into this?
And what is this advanced networking, anyway?
I've also noticed that Sprite Backup would fail with it enabled, so it seems I've solved two problems at the same time...
i had that issue as well the work around i did was connect to my wifi connect my device to my pc sync then disconnect my wifi
still a pain
I've always just connected straight to the server over GPRS/UMTS. I haven't even installed Active Sync on my new PC.
hi Folks,
i have the same issue with Active Sync. I am using Active Sync for syncronizing emails, contacts etc ... I have discovered if you installed the device (hardreset) then you may able to sync with the exchange for the first time. After that you are not longer able to sync it.
I used different ROM's (Dopod, Qtek,O2) all have the same problem. I am not able to sync over Active Sync (4.2 latest and prior versions) with my exchange server. I need to sync over 3G Network and thats a bit expensive over the time with O2.
I think this device is more than incomplete since i am using a Wizard too and i have no problems with the same pc on my Wizard device.
I hope there will be a ROM update really soon that covers many issues discussed in that board here...
At least i am really disappointed about the device which HTC sold over the market.
Hi
On mine this works! - nevertheless i am using the IP adress - could be a hint for you guys
BR
Daniel
do you mean the IP address from the Exchange Server? Or do you pair your device with static IP addresses? :?:
Well ...
I got mine to work after i discovered that the proxy server i placed under gprs connection denied the connection to the exchange server. switching all to MyISP resolved the issue.
If you use a firewall try to look which address the RAPI Manager tries to connect to. Maybe that helps for you to solve your error.
Hi
I use the IP adress for the exchange Server name. The connection Between laptop and device is negotiated automatically
Apologies if this is in the wrong area. I have spent alot of time researching this issue and im yet to find a resolution. I am working in area with a strict SOE on the dekstop PC. I have an O2 XDA Atom. with activesync 4.5 I am using GPRS to connect to the internet on my o2 this is working fine. however the problem occurs when i dock the O2 into its cradle. the GPRS connection will cut and i wont be able to reconnect it. I have changed the properties of activesync and my O2 between 'my work' and 'the internet' to no joy. I realise i can do this by turning off accept usb connections in activesync but then i cannot control my O2 with the software installed on my machine..
what i want to be able to do is run MSN on my O2 continually all day and be able to view the screen from my desktop along with it syncing my calendar etc. if there is any articles which can help me that would be good ive been trying to resolve this for some time now to no avail.
Thankyou in advance
Same problem here..As I am using the my mobiler apps to control the phone via computer..The gprs is disconnected if i plug the cable data...help pls
Very Strange Problem with ActiveSync over GPRS.
I upgraded Imate JasJam WM6.0 to HTC HD2 Telstra WM6.5.
Device uses activesync over Telstra NextG to My Work Network with Exchange Server 2003. Setup the new HTC with the same work network authentication credentials, used the same Activesync credentials for Exchange Mail Server. I now have the default Telstra Internet connection plus MyWork Network connection. The new WM6.5 connections area is a little different but not too difficult. I started it up and worked first time. Fantastic.
I purchased another HTC HD2 and did the same for a work colleague. Once again worked first shot. Fantastic. Couldn't be happier with the trial.
Purchased 10 more for the rest of the team to upgrade their Jasjams. Setup the next one and no worries with the connection but it would not start active sync. Then setup the next one, with exactly the same problem - activesync spins for about 30secs then pops the 'Cannot Connect' error. Then I setup the next HTC and it worked perfectly. The Jasjam upgrade program is now stopped pending resolution!
So we have 3 that will sync to exchange mail and 2 that won't. I still have a drawer full of brand new HD2's so I try other devices, same problem. I move the SIM back into the JasJam, no problems so its not the SIM or the user credentials. So I try using my own credentials into a HD2 that won't sync and get the same problem, HOWEVER, without touching my own working HD2 whule testing the faulty one, my own device will now not sync either.!
The Work Connection dials telstra.corp and my credentials establish the connection OK which does work and can run other remote apps. The cannot connect error has a blank where you would expect to see the number dialed so it means that activesync no longer knows how to connect. If I change the internet connection from Telstra Internet to MyWork Connection then activesync works OK. Then change it back to Telstra Internet and Activesync still works OK, so that seemed to solve the problem, but now the device cannot connect to the Internet. This is all very strange.
Have tried internet/dedicated setting but this seems to ignore me anyway.
Have tried diabling '...Faster Data Sync..'
Device syncs via a USB/PC connection without a trouble.
Anyone got any ideas. Thanks
Workaround found but its still strange behaviour.
On the HD2 the Telstra connections can't be edited so I created a new one and supplied the access point, IP address and proxy from the old JasJam. The HD2 now has my work connection and my own version of the Telstra connection. This seemed to do the trick. I now have Internet from Telstra and activesync via GPRS to my work Exchange Server.
However what caused Activesync to not know how to connect in the first place?
I would appreciate any ideas you might have. Thanks
I have been having exactly the same issue as posted above and have been tearing my hair out for the last couple of days trying to fix it.
I am syncing using ActiveSync on my HD2 ( WM6.5 ) to Google calendar using google sync and was getting the same unable to connect error or ActiveSync just sitting there saying Waiting for Network.
Syncing worked fine if I connectd to my Wireless network but OTA just wouldn't work.
After much googling I came upon this thread so tried setting up a new connection to Telstra Internet but this didn't fix it.
But then I happened upon the solution, so thought I'd spend the time posting it here in case it can help somebody else with the issue.
Open Tools/ActiveSync on the HD2, then Menu/Options.
Highlight "Microsoft Exchange" and press Settings.
Assuming your settings are already entered and correct, press Next until you see the list of what to Sync (Contacts, Calendar etc).
Now press MENU and select Advanced.
Under Connection, change this to Internet (click OK if you get a warming about not using a dedicated connection) , and press Save then Finish, and finally press OK.
As soon as I did this syncing worked via the Telstra Internet connection and has worked perfectly for the whole of today.
So I hope this helps somebody else out there who like me may have been googling for ages trying to find a solution to this issue.
No Activesync Through Telco Connection
I was also having activesync issues. The connection worked fine via WiFi through any access point (home, work, friend's house) but would not sync through Telstra Internet.
I was trying the "internet" option rpalmer68 mentioned when I stumbled upon the "Sync data when roaming" setting in >SETTINGS >DATA SERVICES >ACTIVESYNC.
After turning this on magic began to happen. All working perfectly.
I realised that I still had the "internet" connection set as above and went back to change it when I noticed it had changed to "dedicated".
I am using stock standard Telstra issued HD2 and haven't needed to modified any network connections.
This may be a simpler solution to try with the same outcome.
I had the same problem with my HD2. Changing the "Sync data when roaming" made no difference.
But rpalmer68's solution worked perfectly.
I noticed that I had to set the connection to Internet (this made it work). And then, when I checked the settings later, it had changed itself to Dedicated.
Setting the connection to Dedicated myself did not solve the problem (it changes itself back to blank).
