What we have for text, email, and the internet...........? What? You need to reword what you're saying.
What plan should i get from AT&T. for this phone device, i already have, Phone Service.. i need a secondary plan for Internet and stuff
I don't know what AT&T's plans are looking like these days, but I have mediamax 200. It gives me unlimited internet and 200 texts a month for $15. Although I think the regular price is more like $20.
im looking at this plan for 39.99 extra
PDA Personal Max
PDA Connect Unlimited data usages plus 1500 integrated Bolt-on for PDA devices only.
View Details
You need a compatible plan and phone to get this service.
but whats bolt-on?

Return it and get the 8925 (Kaiser/ TYTN II/ TILT). You should qualify for a free one if its within 30 days.
got it off ebay so i doubt it
When I got my plan Cingular offered 4 internet plans:
$20 - unlimited data
$40 - unlimited data
$60 - unlimited data
$80 - unlimited data
It was a pretty hard choice.
The only difference between cheap and expensive is that you get to use isp.cingular as your access point instead of wap.cingular.
yea i got the PDA Personal Max Unlimited for 49.99 it gives me unlimited Internet and Text Messanging

Hi,
as the free GPRS T-Mobile USA service seem to have stopped a couple days ago... for me at least... I was wondering which T-Mobile Add-on plan will get me this feature back... I want GPRS speed... not WAP/GSM... seems like T-Mobile has some confusing plan options... there are:
t-zones Pro , $9.99, (I assume that this is WAP/GSM only)
BlackBerry Unlimited Add-on ($19.99), (This says it has unlimited web browsing included, but what kind? And I really don't need the Blackberry service... I am fine with POP).
HotSpot Unlimited Service , $19.99, (This seems to be for the Wi-Fi network only... or is there GPRS with this?... if so, then I would prefer this plan)
Sidekick Unlimited Data Service, $20, (I assume this is for standalone sidekick units... but then again, I am not sure...)
I currently have a MDAIII/I-mate PDA2K.
I would really appreciate if someone could clarify this for me...

call tmo service tell them that you would like the HP H6315 sevice plan, look at tmo web site for the minutes that you need.
for $80/month I have 1000 minutes, unlimited GPRS-SMS messages-WiFi hotspots which can also be used with your laptop also!
Tell them that at&t is willing to work with you. I got them to credit me $100, 1 month of free service and the HP service plan.
If you within 7 days of your phone purchase you can get the tmo insurance for your phone. It is $4/month to insure your $900+ device.

That's great that T-mobile agree with your demand.
But anyway, on phone insurance it would be cheaper to go with your car or house insurance and add it on that policy. I am with State Farm Insurance and I ask them if I could add my personal stuff to get insured. I have MDA-II ($800 insured) and they agree to put it on. I have to pay $30 a year which is less than $3 a month.
So you could ask your insurance if they do that also.
Sorry kind of out of the topic here but good stuff to know!
Hi,
I really don't care so much about the insurance part... I have a pretty good international coverage that covers pretty much anything I own... I really need to know which plan I should get...
Treo
I have a $500 deductable on my house insurance and the tmo stuff is $75 ded. if claimed within 30 days and only $35 if you wait a month. I gues they assume that some people may get their phone back if they wait the month and then cancel the claim.
I expense my phone bill to work so I didn't mind the extra money.
Don't forget about your deductable though!!!!
Anyone else got a suggestion on the actual plan to chose? Come on...
it depends on what you do and what you need. I talked them into putting me on the HP ipaq plan that included unlimited GPRS, unlimited txt, and the kicker, unlimited TMobile Hotspots. Its a user account not connected to any particular device so you can take your laptop to the airport or starbucks.
$80/month for 1000 minutes so your its basically costing you $40/ month for all the data. But then again you won't ever download to much and get charged for it!
I did a quick search on this and couldn't seem to find anything pertaining to this partciular topic, but I assume someone has thought of it before... I apologize in advance if this has been asked already.
I have a Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard) and currently am paying the 40$/month for Media Max Unlimited... What I'm wondering is if it's possible to use the 20$/month "SmartPhone Connect Unlimited" plan with this phone? I know Cingular claims that it only works with the Cingular 2125, Audiovox SMT5600, and Motorola MPx 220; however, I was wondering if it was possible to basically trick them into thinking you have one of those phones, hense getting unlimited internet for 20$ instead of 40$.
I hope this thread isn't against any rules, in which case please delete
I did some research into this a while back, and from what I got, it's possible, but risky.
From what I hear, they'll slap a lot of overage charges and stuff on you unnecessarily.
I don't remember how to do it, but it's taking a chance. You may save 20/mo, but you risk having to pay more each month in extra charges. In the end, it's up to you if you think it's worth the risk.
you can but
Hi,
you could switch o the cheaper plan, but if you go over the alloted MB's per month you might get an overage charge @ i think0.10/kb. If you keep it under the alloted amount then go for it, but you will rack up the KB's in no time. Better to be safe than sorry and end up with a larger bill.
Great, thanks for the info! Anyone have any personal experiences in trying this? (good or bad)?

Sweet. Any do's and don'ts for this? And do you know the process for doing so?
Anyone else have any more info on this? =)
I have a 8925 tilt and my plan is the $20 unlimited internet access with 200 txtmsg. works fine. if you want unlimited txtmsg is $30.
Do you know the name of this plan?
Switching from Media Max Unlim to Smart Phone Unlim will rid you of your Unlim TXT msg'ing if you choose to do so...but I'm sure you knew that . If you don't need your unlimited texting, I'd suggest just dropping down to the Media Max 200, it's the same price as Smart Phone Unlim with 200 txt msgs and will get you unlim surfing.
ANY of the unlimited data plans will work with ANY phone. You can even tether you PC and it will work. at&t doesn't have much of a audit system in place to monitor people that are not using the correct data plans. From what I can tell, mostly excessive data usage patterns are the only thing that will throw a red flag.
Think of it like paying to eat at a buffet. You have an adult price, and child price. Your PDA phones are suppose to pay the adult price (aka PDA plans), and regular phones pay the child price (aka Media Max or Smartphone plans). The only problem is, if you get caught eating at the buffet on a child’s price, you are liable to get slapped with some huge data charges.
It's up to each individual if they what to take that risk. I for one can't. I tether A LOT. So I pay the $59 for a Data Connect plan. I NEED to have internet for business reasons. One job for me programming some controllers can net enough to pay for a years worth of Data Connect. Those of you who use it for recreational purposes will find it hard to justify the expense.
Hi,
I have bought a G1 on ebay yesterday and it will be coming in 2-3 days. As G1 needs internet to attain the maximum capability, I opted for having Web N Walk with my current contract.
My question is, as I have included Web n Walk with my contract and when I insert the SIM in this externally purchased G1, is it as equivalent to being in the "always on" internet. Is it equivalent to me buying the handset in Flext 30 with comes along with WnW
Your help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
I just bought the phone on Ebay as well. I hope I'm not being bullshitted by the seller.
I don't really understand ur question. But do mean wether it's possible to stay always online with a web'n'walk contract on the G1 without extra costs? Or do you mean wether it's possible to use the phone with web'n'walk. Both cases should be a yes.
I have a sim only contract with T-mobile. Having the Touch Diamond for a month, I thought I needed the web'n'walk deal. But just the day after it got activated I sold the Diamond. The touch resistant touchscreen and choppy WM6.1 were just too much. I now temporarely have the Samsung E900. But my costs have skyrocketed since then. I use the web alot while traveling. For the first 3 month I paid like €12,- a month. With WnW normally €20,- a month (10 for sim only and 10 for web), now is €45,- for the past each 2 month. Maybe it's me I don't know, but watch out..
It is my understanding u r going to need the data plan for $24.99 per/month. That is what I have on the G1 I have. I cancelled the data plan on my wifes G1 due to the fact she only needed it to sign in or create her gmail account to activate the phone. After her activating I promptly called T-Mo and told then I did not need the data plan on her phone because she is has wifi 99% of the time. They ( the T-Mo CSR's) told me the web and walk/ web to go will not work due to the fact that web n walk/web 2 go is not compatible with the G1, it has it's own data plan. So it would be best for you to hear it directly from them , so give them a call and see what they tell you. It will probably be the same thing. Also the web n walk/ web 2 go can get pretty expensive if you use the web much due to the plans on it being pretty pricey and could end up being just as much as the data plans for the G1.
Sorry for loaded reply

HI djind....
My question was that:
Case 1:
1) I bought a new G1 on ebay and not on contract for a cheap deal of £210
2) Same day I added WnW to my existing Tmobile contract
3) When I get the G1 and insert my SIM, is it equivalent to me being "permanently always on" internet or should I do something else to be "always on"
Case 2:
1) I as a new customer buy the G1 with a new 18 month contract, say Flext 30, which includes WnW along with plan
2) when I set up the phone and start using it, I am "permanently always-on" internet wherein I can receive the updates over the air as well
Is Case 1 and Case 2 equivalent?
Thanks

Quick answer..............no, because the G1 wnw plan is equivilant to wnw plus, the one you will be on is standard wnw.The difference is the data allowance (Standard wnw is one gig and wnw plus is 3 gig) and also the speed, wnw plus can go upto "7.2mbps" (when the network is ready, probs a couple of years lol) standard wnw can only go up to 128kbps, now you can get the g1 version of wnw on the new versions of flext and combi, so if you are on one of those then call CS and change it (for the same price!!), if your on another priceplan then your screwed lol. The only problem is if you are on a Combi PP then if you get the G1 wnw plan then you need to have if on for 18mnths or if you want to remove it you would need to pay 18 minus however many months you've had it times £5. any Q's just ask, I work for T-Mobile UK Tech Support hope this helps

Great Response. Satisfactory reply. What you say absolutely makes sense. But is it not a kind of "cheating" and making the customer a fool when the website says a "unlimited internet" and eventually you realise that the allowance is capped to 1 GB or 3 GB.
And correct me if I am wrong, Tmobile seems to have 3 WnW plans which the public doesnt know that much really.
WnW Standard - 1 GB allowance - £7.50 per month (wifi hotspot charged as extra)
WnW Plus - 3 Gb allowance - £12 per month (wifi hotspot charged as extra)
WnW Max - 10 GB allowance - £22 per month (wifi hotspot charged as extra)
Basically with G1 price plans, its the Supermax, its inclusive of everything like "real unlimited" download and wifi hotspot included also? Right Chris
Shashi
i done it i got the g1 and added web and walk free trial to my contract it works everything works except android market place it asks for age identifaction becuase it has content lock only way to remove is to phone t-mobile and i did and they said it is already removed and it not allowing me to acces it becuase i aint on g1 special tarriff
With Web'n'Walk in the UK, it's not just the caps which differ. The standard WnW prohibits any use of the phone as a modem for a PC/laptop, so no tethering. The WnW Plus allows modem use, but disallows voice over IP. The WnW Max does allow this.

Kind of but the internet is unlimited becoz you will never be charged just restricted if you continually go over the 1Gb or 3Gb whatever one your on. (The G1 version of wnw plus has a 3gb FUP)
With reg to hotspot access,
Std Wnw its not included
WnW Plus it is included
G1 WnW Plus its Not included
and WnW max it is included
I got my g1 a few weeks ago and i had an iphone with the 5.99 tzones internet on it working great.
So i pop in my sim, and without wifi, it goes through the activation fine, which told me that the tzones internet worked.
And it did, it was on epc.tmobile.com and i think the other settings were default (no proxy) anyway, after a few days it stopped working.
Now whenever i try to open a webpage, it says that the plan is not compatible with my phone and i need to upgrade.
What to do?
TMo has all of the G1 numbers in their database which is why it doesn't work. They don't have all of the iPhone numbers in their database so they had no idea what kind of phone you was using.
um...upgrade?
i aint payin like 50 bucks a month just for internet, thats how much i pay for dsl
what if i get it unlocked? will that change anything?
It's $35 actually. The $25 plan comes with 0 text messages, so not really an option.
just like at&t with the iphone, you gotta pay to play with the g1...or just use wifi whenever your around a source.

$50? more like $25-$35 depending on if you want unlimited txts or not. Unlocking won't do **** cuz tmobile has the G1 IMEI in its database, you could switch to ATT if you unlock it then use there $15 plan like I do but then you have your tmobile contract to cancel.
Why did you buy the G1? If you got it from tmobile then you knew you needed the data plans cuz they are a required service. Besides going to ATT your only other choice is to use WiFi.

$50, really. Just like everyone else said either pay to play or use wifi.
This is just an FYI to everyone who swtched from an android device to the HD2. YOU CAN KEEP YOUR CHEAPER DATA PLAN! they will try to tell you that the smartphone data plan and the android data plan are specific to the device and that one will not work on the other, but that is just not true. My android plan is $24.99 unlimited data and 400 texts a month the smartphone data plan is $30 with no texts. so after getting text messaging it's $10 more expensive. I swtch from my G1 to my HD2 all the time and the data works on both. Call up the customer loyalty group people and demand your android data plan back! they will give it to you if you keep at it. they switched me to the more expensive data plan after specificly telling them not to, i think its just an automatic system adjustment when you buy an HD2. but it can be switched back and it DOES WORK! dont be fooled by the CSR's they dont know what they are talking about. Spread the word!
This applys to anyone like me who has an old and cheap family plan and obviously not people with the unlimited everything plans
I'm set up the same way. Only issue is you will get some funky text messages for the vm notifications. Notifications on the wm phones still work, though.

I thought the same way, so I kept my Blackberry data plan for 25 dollars.
It didn't work properly. Internet was ok, but kept getting weird mms or email issues. changed to the 'proper' 30 dollar plan after 4 days, and I don't have that issue anymore.
As for how or why that happens, I don't know.

I haven't noticed any text messages for the vm notifications. I do have visual vm working on the HD2.
I wasn't actually aware of the price difference between the 2 data plans.
I actually switched back to Android data plan so I could try something on my HTC Dream and since the HD2 works as well... no reason to switch back.
I thought tmo us only offers 2 kinds of data plan. first one is for blackberry users and it's called blackberry network. the second one is for any other smart phone users. it's called the android network. even hd2 is a wm phone, it uses the android network.
its not that bad of a deal considering you pay 30$ for data and 5$ extra for unlimited text
yeah it's not that bad its only $10 more, but everytime they have a new phone or OS they add a new data service that is a little more expensive. first it was the BB data which i believe started at $20 then the android $25 that includes texts, now they have the smartphone data plan $30 w/ no texts. To me it seems that if you can keep whatever grandfathered in data plan and phone plan for that matter it will always save you money. If you dont keep the charges where they are at they will nickel and dime you to death! the funny thing is that i doubt there is much of a change in the actual service it just has a new name and a new price tag to with it. once HSPDA is available in Kansas City where Im at I would gladly pay more, but i dont see a reason for charging more for the same service.
oh and also, I have had zero issues with the android data plan on my HD2. it works exactly the same as it did before when I had the new smartphone data plan and didnt know it. once I fiqured out they switched my data plan I immidiately switched back to the android plan. I have had no weird VM notification issues or anything.
good point
Heh I rem making a post about this too.

Data plan costs the same. but if they give me the smartphone one, G1 internet dies.. However.. otherway around.. works fine.
t-mobile getting pretty close to at&t now with their data plans.i pay extra $5 now for unlimited web and text before i had the $35 unlimited data and text.i always thought data plans prices would go down day by day but i was defenetly WRONG.wondering how much carriers gonna charge for 4G datas?
I am looking at the HD2, presently have the iPhone. I am with T-Mobile and have the non-contract family plan (4 phones.) I have 750 shared minutes, unlimited Text, Unlimited Internet (my phone only) and pay $100.92/month.
I talked to T-Mobile at 2 different locations and they tell me something different.
If I buy a 2 Year contract I can get the HD2 for $199.00, but must pay $24.95 or $30.00/month for the data plan. They say that I can keep my other 3 phones without a contract. That equates to $240 more a year. However, I cannot just keep my unlimited Internet @ $10/month. I must get a data plan.
They tell me that I will be changed from the Unlimited Internet $10 to the Data Plan automatically when I use my phone. The 2 year contract does not bother me as I have used T-Mobile for years and will continue to do so unless I find a better plan.
My questions are:
1. What is the advantage of buying the HD2 at $500 vs $200 as you still have to buy the Data Plan? Apparently the 2 year contract.
2. Why can't I just buy the HD2 and use my old SIM card and continue under the plan I have? Will they really worry about my current Internet plan and get me for the Data Plan?
3. Is the HD2 better than the iPhone overall? I am very impressed with the HD2 and from what I have seen via YouTube, it is very slick.
I know I will receive different opinions, however, that is what I am looking for. Have had the MDA, Wing, Omnia and iPhone.
I value your opinions as I have been on XDA for years and have received very valuable information and Help! Thanks in advance.

dont know the difference between the $10 data plan and the $30 data plan but all i know i've been using the iPHONE 3g since it came out on t-mobile offcourse jailbroken, never thought i would go back to windows mobile till the HD2 arrived and i gave my iPHONE to my sister for good and never looked back cuz im shocked by the experience on the HD2 since i became a member on the XDA.thanx to XDA i've tweaked the HD2 and loving it and looking forward to the end of this year for XDA to flash WM to ANDROID 2.1 on the HD2.as far on buying the HD2,i've already have a contract with t-mobile and i was do for an upgrade but instead of upgrade i bought the phone with 4 months installment plan which is about $112.50 a month on the bill(which is not bad) and i made sure that they didnt upgrade my contract.also added $5.99 for full insurance.so.......... so far loving the HD2 and its a keeper for me.hope it helps u a little.
@asctony if I were you I would try tobuy an unlocked hd2 and try to keep the $10 internet.but I would make sure it works first somehow, anyone here know? the csr will say it wont but I bet it will.if it works the price difference would pay for your phone in a relatively short amount of time.
Thank you both for taking the time to answer my query. Yes, I will try to use my $10 Internet Unlimited. When I signed up for the $10 Internet Unlimited CSR told me that I could not and it would not work. However, little do they know other than $$$$$$$$. Been using it for almost a year. I am really excited about the HD2 and will let you know what my opinion is. Thanks again.
Actually, you don't need to call customer care. Log into your mytmobile, change the phone in your profile to an Android phone and then add your data plan.
@asctony: if you buy it from the TMo retail store or a 3rd party that does not have rebates and does not require a data plan, then no, you don't have to change your data plan. Use your existing data plan by changing your APN (search my post about Nexus One and HD2).

it is not like a switch that you toggle right? because i am looking at it in my profile but since i have a grandfathered plan it says it conflicts with the current smartphone plan. maybe i am not looking in the right spot.
that's weird.... I switched my plan from android internet to the total internet for the HD2. both were the same price of $24.95. I'm here in NJ if that makes a difference
Yeah I had the $34.99 unlimited internet and texts for android. When I called customer service they switched me over to the smartphone plan and I'm still paying $34.99, don't know how that happened exactly but I'm happy!
No MMS
I've been with T-Mobile forever. I had a Blackberry before my Touch Pro 2. My Blackberry BIS add-on charge is $19.99/month. Internet is good and fast, phone and SMS work great. Cannot send or receive MMS and was told by customer support that, "your HTC sends MMS via the data plan and your current Blackberry data plan is not compatible with your phone."
My kids have cheap camera phones that send/receive MMS on our same family plan, but my more sophisticated WinMo device cannot? Sounds fishy, but I have searched every thread and tried every setting and finally have given up. I can live without MMS if it's going to cost me an extra $180/year.

yeah it's not that bad its only $10 more, but everytime they have a new phone or OS they add a new data service that is a little more expensive. first it was the BB data which i believe started at $20 then the android $25 that includes texts, now they have the smartphone data plan $30 w/ no texts. To me it seems that if you can keep whatever

You are aware that they had the data plan for Smartphones long before Android came out, right?
