2 8125's with problems - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

First off the people and this board itself is tops in my book!!
Now before anyone says it yes....... I have searched.
PHONE 1 I was in the middle of a phone call and the phone went just shut off. Plugged it into a charger (factory one), no charge light. left it overnight and yet still nothing. Tried the battery in another phone and it worked, charged and behaved properly.
PHONE 2 phone works fine but the backlight stays off all of the time. Tried the board with a different LCD and the same problem occured. Is there a fix for this cause I cannot find it, or does anyone know where this feature is located on the motherboard.
Any help in these matters would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

it is time to donate to the XDA-developers!

excuse me?! If you are looking for donations this is not the correct way to request it.

He means donate the parts to XDA developers... aka, sell them out because they are broke...
I'm sure he was just busting you since he probably doesn't know how to fix it.

update: Phone 1
Left it overnight on the charger, about 3 a.m. saw a light on the ceiling (mid sleep turn) got up and looked at the phone and the screen was white. At 8:30 when I awoke, I looked at the phone and the Cingular splash screen was on. Went to turn on my laptop and "poof" it went blank again.
Someone told me to buy a new battery what do you guys think?
Phone 2 still comes on and the screen is still dim. The screen works tried it with a working phone.
I have this one on Craigslist for parts.

Great News
Phone 1: I FIXED IT!!!!
I cleaned the board with alcohol. disconnected the internal battery for a day then reconnected it back to the board and PRESTO CHANGO THE PHONE IS UP AND RUNNING!!!
Phone 2: The screen is still dim so I will be parting it out.

Wizard won't turn on

How's it going all?
My phone has slowly been dying on me, and today was the final straw. I shut the phone off last night, and it will not turn back on. I've tried using a house/usb/car charger with no success. Would I be wrong in assuming that it is a faulty battery? Could there be another problem? The furthest screen the phone reached today was the tmobile white load screen, before turning black and shutting off.
If it is the battery, would this be an appropriate replacement?

It does sound suspiciously like a dead battery. Try cleaning the contacts on the battery and phone first. If that still doesn't help, and if the phone hasn't been damaged (you didn't share that info), then you may want to get a replacement battery. The one you linked to would work fine.
Another battery option for you.

There is no apparent damage that I've seen. I have had a problem with the phone losing service lately, along with a crackling sound during the start of a call.
Before I order this item, are there any retailers that would carry it? I'm leaving for a week and wouldn't have this replacement in time.
Thanks for the replies!
Check your local Cingular stores -- I don't know if the 8125 battery will fit into a Wizard 200 device (e.g. Qtek 9100), but they should be electrically identical.
I just ordered a replacement battery from amazon.com after trying a battery from a friend....and the phone worked.
I tried one last time to get the phone to charge, but to no avail...UNTIL I seen the orange light after wiggling it around for a bit. The phone made it to the loading screen, and then the light, and the power-up disappeared. I've been trying to get the light to come back on, but I can't seem to get that sweet spot.
Does this sound like a problem with the usb port? If so, is there anyway to fix that?
Thanks!

HTC elf doesn't start

Hello i have a htc elf0100, and suddenly he doesn't charge anymore nore start. It's completely dead, i already tried a new battery and i even charged the battery with a battery charger. I have measured the contacts of the phone when is connected to a charger and i have 4,7V wich may indicate that the power of the phone is ok. But in fact it doesn't power on. Does anybody know what might be the problem
Mainboard
Is it possible to buy a mainboard for the htc elf0100, and if so where can i buy it and how much will it cost?
Have you had any further luck with this problem?
I have a bought a Touch which appears to be suffering the same problem.

I tried repairing mine but no luck. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong inside it. Actually I had just finished refurbishing mine and for 2 days I was admiring its brand new white covers... Then, all of a sudden, the mobile turned off and doesn't respond to on/off,resets,chargers ever since. I am also guessing that my CPU must have been destroyed... :-(
I solve this problem whit the rework station, you need to heat the board, like 2 minutes in 400 Celsius, tried to don`t burn the conectors and the stikers.
Yesterday, after 2 months, it accepted the chrarger (led on) for... 1 second and then it started booting (for 5 seconds) but died again...
Wow! It responded again! This time it turned on and stayed on in bootloader! So I flashed it, and it WORKS!
So my tip is: every time you try to turn it on, always try in bootloader mode. So if it turns on, at least you will be able to do something!
Hi papajohn
how did you get it to turn-on again?
mine's dead no power response at all, completely dead, no tricolor, no white screen, no response to hard reset, can't enter bootloader, no orange led indicator when plug into power supply.

Pull out the battery, remove charger.
Put the battery back in and dont press anything. Plug it into the wall and see after ~60 seconds you get a charge light.
I just got my phone replaced with the exact problem. Took it to sprint and they ordered me a new one under the HTC warranty, no problem. I didnt say anything about flashing just that it stopped charging and would not turn on anymore.

Just remember that if they get the phone to boot after you turn it in and they find out its rooted/ROM'd that they can fine you the entire price of the phone. Not trying to scare you but it has happened to people. However, it does seem there have been quite a few complaints about USB "issues".

I too have had the usb charging issue. Try moving the usb cable around in the phone and see if it contacts. Mine does by lifting up on it. I called Sprint to see what they can do and they said that it is caused by the user. I laughed at them and said some not so nice words then hung up on them. Then took it to a Sprint store and they ordered a new one for me without any questions.
as a side note I am glad they are replaceing it cause now the speaker is blown and the paint is peeling from the power button.
Also, FYI, my kid's hero's charger died on him (the one out of the box). We thought his phone was broken because it would not charge or be recognized by the USB. Then we tried out my charger and, boom, all good.
Worth a shot....
alright guys, thx everyone for the reply, status update: I try everything that was mention here, pull bat and putting it back(several times), moving charging cables, letting the charger sit 60sec, none of it work. I know my phone wasn't out of batteries cuz when i went to sleep it was about 86% left, so i thought my bat blew out on me after a week of usage. so i just left my phone in my pocket and after a while it started getting hot, i was like wtf, and took out the bat immediately. i leave the bat out for about 30min, put that sucker in again, and voila, it power up, everything was back to normal...anyone know wth's going on? of course i'm very happy my phone is working again

Drunk G1 turns itself off

Hi fellas, long time no see!
So, first of all, yes, I've used the search, but what I've found is threads about wet phones, mine I believe is already dry.
Situation: I'm in the club, glass of absolut and redbull in my hand, phone in my jeans pocket, extra glass of absolut w/redbull on the bar next to me. Fat drunk aproaches the bar and tips my glass with his elbow, all my drink spilled over my clothes. After a brief discussion I realized the guy was too drunk and was a worthless douche so I let it go. I reach for my phone and realize my pocket is soaked wet, when I take it out, phone is out, red light dim. So I turn it off, take it apart and forget about it til the next day. Next day, it began to turn on, but shut itslef off after a few secs, so I take it apart again (that is back cover, battery, SIM and sd, I dont have the screwdrivers to go further), cleaned what I could with alcohol, let it vent in front of a fan for a few hours, then in a bowl of rice for 2 days, no good.
So I got an extra phone and let it sit for more than a month. The other day I decided to give it another try and voila! it worked, had to be dry by now! used it for a day, left it charging, when I came back, it was off again, unresponsive. I have an extra battery, so I got one of those universal battery chargers, because I though the problem could be the phone not charging the battery. It was (even when the light turns on red and it says charging and all). So, first weird thing, light turns on red, screen says charging, but USB wont wont actually charge the battery if it is somewhere below.. 70% maybe, it does charge if it is lets say about 80% or above.
I used it like this for a week or so, and now, when I turn it on, after the bootscreen and the initial loop, the phone now powers itself off (with the text "turning off" -or whatever it says- and vibrating and all), even with the battery full. Tried with both batteries full, plugged in the usb (the light is green when full, and will even charge), erased battery stats (recovery works fine) but the damn thing wont load android properly!
Any ideas what might be causing this? it should be dry by now (its been like 2 months already and I let it vent and used the rice method), it doesnt smell funny (you know, like burnt, like when sth short circuits).
btw, also tried flashing the ROM again (i always have a couple in the sd just in case) and didn't work neither, does exactly the same.
i know it is a bit long to read but i wanted to give you the most insight i could. i know that it works! it did a couple days ago, but something got screwed with the startup and i dont know what it is!
update: so today i tried again, to my surprise, it showed me the first-use android intro, and i could use it, but wen i was about to finish setting it up, it shut off
time for a new phone!
You need a new Phone.
aaawww cmooon, heh, yeah, i know, but it aint easy to just "change the phone", i mean, i already have, but im using a crappy phone, and i wouldnt buy anything lower than the dream, but these things arent cheap here you know? you might get them for free sometimes with a contract, not around here we dont.
I think the problem is the no-charging issue, because i believe the phone not working now is due to bot batteries being damaged by the universal charger. the contacts are all scratched. i tried like to scratch them more to make them even, and it worked for about 2 minutes.. if i can rule that out and i can fix the chargin issue, all i need is a new battery, but i wont buy another one (i cant just go to a shop because they dont sell them here, i have to order them online and wait like a month for it to arrive) until i know it will work!
Just an update:
So I forgot about the issue once more and let it sit for.. well from the last post till last week (6 weeks give or take a week). After dusting it off, I took the less-damaged battery and tried my best to fix the contacts. Put it back on, plugged it, and after a while, I turned it on. To my surprise, it worked, and now it is charging again. I guess it hadn't fully dried, idk, but it works at least for now (and has been working for over a week now, I think that's better than last time) .
