hermes turning itself off - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

i have developed a problem with my hermes. it will just turn itself off even with a fully charged battery. i think the issue may be connected with the new case i bought. it is one of the monstech snap on cases. when i was first installing it, it caused the keyboard to pop loose(the actual keypad part), but it snapped right back in place. when it shuts itself down you can still see the screen image, but just barely. i was just wondering if anyone had any idea of what might be causing the issue and if it is something i can do to fix it myself since i assume that the warranty is void since the phone has been superCIDed. any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi
had the same problem. what i did was to turn on all functions (wlan, gsm phone, data transfer, bluetooth) run a bunch of programs in the background
then turn of the screen ( tapping the power button once)
the battery will then start to slowly drain itself and once you recharge the battery, the phone should be quite ok afterwards

Alien life forms?
It might be helpful if you tell us how your system is configured, software you're running, time of day it appears to happen, any odd messages etc.

By going off do you mean that the unit goes dead causing a soft reset when powered up, or is it just that the screen shut's off?
I have encountered a very similar problem. The unit goes dead sometimes. (As if you would discharge both batteries totally) And then after a time (a few sec, or a whole day) it can be turned on again, as if i would have performed a hard reset. Any ideas?
When the unit is facing down, on the lower right side there is a small switch which is supposed to be toggled with the battery cover's tab when mounted. Most probably, this tab in the battery cover is no longer good causing the switch's lever to toggle to the off position due to movement.
Yeah. I know about the little switch, but It didn't even crossed my mind, that it's because of that. But why did the hard reset happened?
When this switch is off, with or without the battery, then it is like the main battery is not in and the backup battery discharges quickly causing a hard reset.

HTC TYTN doesn't charge from USB and screen allignment problem

Since I bought it with the original WM5 ROM I had two most annoying problems with it (now I run WM6):
1) When I use the car charger it will only charge the first time I plug it in. If for whatever reason I unplug it and plug it again, the damn thing won't charge from the lighter charger. This is very frustrating as you can imagine since I use igo with the screen always on that drains the battery in a few hours + bluetooth consumption + the fact that phone itself rather old + the fact that igo doesn't save routes and I have to make my route all over again!
2) My screen gets missalligned extremly often! I mean like in a few tens of minutes I have to run Allign Screen again.
These are the main reasons that I stopped using it a while back, but now I need it badly for a long trip with my car. I tried to search this forum for these problems but I couldn't make head or tails of the search results. Do you know any quick fixes for these issues?
Thank you for your time.
There is a known issue where it will charge once off a lighter socket and not again unless it is switched off. A soft reset will start it charging again. (Bit of a pain).
The screen alignment issue is dealt with extensively in other threads.
Mike
So there is no workaround for the car charging issue as of yet. That is unfortunate. Thank you for your reply.
I have the same 2 problems on my TyTN (Hermes).
Right now I'm investigating the charging problem but so far without any results. As said before, a soft reset is right now the only way to get rid of it.
The screen alignment problems are most annoying since it happens a lot really. Seen solutions for that problem in other threads. Although I don't know if I really wanna risk taking the whole device apart myself...
For now I just realign when it happens (made a shortcut to access it fast).
i had a screen alignment prob but found out it was because of the firmware i had, i could not align at all was off by 5mm, what firmware did u flash it with?

HD stops working / goes to sleep

Hi, wonder if anyone is experiencing the same problems I am having.
When the phone is in standyby (screen off) the phone goes to sleep and I struggle to get it to restart. Previously removing the battery and pressing the soft reset a number of times and then re inserting the battery the pressing the start button has got it to restart but as time has gone on it is happening more frequently and becoming more difficult to restart.
The last time it occurred (Sunday Morning)I could not encourage it to restart. I had heard that you could run the phone with the mains connected and the battery missing, so I gave this a try and noticed the start button led illuminte orange and the phone vibrated, I then went to place the battery back in and noticed that the phone stayed on its booting cycle until the battery was fully inserted and then everything stopped.
I tried again the same occurred but this time I held the battery on an angle such that the battery was connected to the three connectors on the phone but not inserting the battery completely and everything worked fine.
Then pushed the battery all the way home and the phone stopped, I noticed that on the back face of the battery and on the back of the phone there are an additional two terminals / contacts and it seemed that when the battery made contact it stopped the phone. I now have a post-it note covering the terminals in the phone with the battery fully inserted and it works perfectly and has not gone to sleep once for the last 24 hrs. I have also charged the phone successfully so proving that covering these contacts does not effect the charging.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems?
What are these terminals for?
Am I best sending the phone back to HTC?
Any help would be appreciated.
Come on guys can anyone help I don't know what to do
Any suggestions
Send it back..
I would.
You have paid so much for it that it should work without using tricks.
Exchange it for one that works, before you put too much work in it
Sounds like you have a hardware problem with either the battery or the phone. Have you tried taking to a mobile shop and using a different battery?
Otherwise I would return it and get a repelacement device

Note 3 not turning on. Sudden death? Hardware problem?

Let me start from the begining.
So the other day I plugged my phone into USB in order to charge it (I had to keep it close to me hence why I didn't plug it into the wall charger). The phone was charging, showing up as a media device on the lappy, etc. I was doing stuff on the computer then I heard it vibrate so I went to see what it was. The blue notification light was on (facebook notification most likely) and when I pressed the Menu button the screen didn't come on. I also tried the Power button but same thing. So I decided to restart the phone. Since then, it hasn't turned back on.
I tested the battery in another device and it's working perfectly fine. Neither recovery nor download mode work. I tried to do some of the tests people recommended for sudden death, like plugging it into usb and leaving it for a while, trying to kick start it (putting battery in while holding the recovery buttons) - you name it, i've done it. I even went to the lengths of taking off the back cover to see if theres any crap that got in there, maybe a loose connector, anything burnt - nothing. Unfortunately, I don't have a multimeter to see if there is a charge running through the board. Looks like sudden death to me, the only thing is - I rooted the phone on the 1st day I got it and I don't live in the country where I bought the phone so sending it over for warranty repairs would be a pain in the ass. What can I do? I would greatly appreciate your help, if you manage to help me fix my baby, I will ENSURE to send you a donation for a nice, big, cold beer (or maybe a few).
Looking forward to any answers! I really need my phone, I use it for work.
It seems like a hardware issue... you need to take it to a local store to scan it's hardware.... maybe something gone wrong while charging which made something be destroyed inside it..... hope its not the motherboard.....
it happens sometimes, when charging current fluctuate, it destroys the charging circuit and in result it damage the whole current circuit, local repair shop can solve the issue.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Not Turning On

Hi people.
So i'm having a problem with my S7 Edge and i don't think it is common. A few weeks back I was using my phone and it would suddenly turn off and the battery would be drained too. After this first incident with the problem it happened more often, and the phone would start doing boot loops to the point where the phone just froze and turned off. When these problems occured it will usually need to be a problem where I do a safe boot (Volume up, Home button and power key), and everything will be fine (or to charge it if the battery drained), but recently, the phone just didn't work at all, to the point I waited for the battery to drain (10 hours), and try charging it, nothing happens.
So firstly I was watching a video and checking my CPU/Battery tempretures to see if that was the problem (the tempretures at the time were around 31 degrees), and mid way through the video it bugged out through the audio in a high screech and turned itself off.
I tried turning it on again but no response to the screen, i tried safe booting it, or every alternative booting option, it did not work at all.
Here is all the diagnostics and repairs I did, but no luck:
- Tried turning it on
- Different boot options (Volume up/down, Home button & power key)
- Cleaning the port for moisture detection
- Replacing the battery for a new one (Genuine one)
- Doing all of the above, with it on charge
- Connecting to a PC, but no detection
One positive I found was that when i put the phone on a wireless station, it would change colour to show that the phone is charging. I have however took the wireless out of the phone as it was in the way of the battery, and safely in my draw.
Before this final fault happened, I did do a recovery to a previous Android version, just incase if it was a software fault, but it wasn't. The phone is not rooted and I had it since September of 2016.
Is there any alternative options to do? As i'm running out of ideas to do as every solution on the internet is to turn it on, which i can't whatsoever.
The warranty is voided also as there is a crack on the screen lens, and it's way too much to pay for a repair.
I need some explination of why this is happening, so I can go in the right direction and not to waste money if i was going to a repair service, or purchasing the parts for myself.
Any help would be highly appericiated.
Check your installed apps to see if there any viruses on your phone. All you said are signs that your phone might have a virus (check how to remove it here: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-tell-if-your-phone-has-a-virus/
However, there is a chance that you do not have any viruses on your phone, but at least you have to isolate this possibility.
Did you recall installing any app prior to this behavior?
This may be the case, however i can't turn on the phone at all. I tried every possible reboot possible, download mode, bios mode, safe boot, reboot, but nothing happens unfortunately. Unless i can do it whilst it is turned off, i can do something. I have a PC if i can do anything else with it.
I don't think I have installed any weird apps on the phone.
sounds like a brick to me. Not a lot I can thing of you can do.
If you place the wireless card back in does it boot?
IT sounds like you've messed with the internals, so possible you damaged something?
I don't particularly think that I broke it from the inside as it was behaving the same before i opened it. And when i used the wireless charging, it will only indicate it was charging or getting detected on that charging pad and not on the phone regarding a red led, or the charging icon
Have you tried holding volume down + home + power for 15 seconds and try turning on the phone again?
As mentioned in the description, I have unfortunately
