Just checked and this (or possibly the 614C) is exactly what I want!
Thats if the screen is transflective unlike the Kaiser or the G900.
Any idea on the ETA date? Google doesn't seem to know.

HP 914 will be out at the end of the year, that will be a wm6, and all the other features, also 320x240 screen

An identical device to the Magican with WM5, WiFI, 128MB and 2 replaced buttons!
I spoke to our logistics manager today (TMUK) and he confirmed that the Compact II looks the same as the original with Windows 5 OS. Didn't have anymore tech specs to hand although don't be surprised if some more case colours appear. If I get anymore info I'll update.

I'm not entirely sure if this is the Athena or not. I heard rumours that this could be the athena but I also heard rumours of an athena that has a different shape than the Magician altogether. I think we'll have to wait and see ...

German tmobile also claims a new release of our mdacompact should appear before christmas. And "yes" they say its planned to be equipped with WM2005 wlan and 128mb.

I don't see the relationship of this post with respect to the main topic.
9100 is great, little big to carry around, but nice with w-lan and everything else. WM2005, didn´t like it in the beginning but now after 1 week I like it.. as all the other windows-based things u can do whatever u want
But now it´s confirmed, S200 is coming to sweden in the beginning of 2006. The size is like s100, s110 unbeatable......

Compare with Magician, the camera of Prophet has improved a lot. Added Wifi and EDGE but the CPU is changed to slower OMAP... :!:
I donno why HTC want to change CPU type. But this totally prevent existing Magician users from directly upgrade the ROM from WM2003SE to WM5 without buying new device... :roll:

How does this thing compare to the HTC Charmer aka T-Mobile MDA Compact II, which is supposed to be the WM2005 successor to Magician?
And Charmer should be available already from T-Mobile ;-)
As far as I know, the Charmer has no Wifi and no 2 MPix camera.

It's supposed to have the 200Mhz OMAP CPU instead of the 400Mhz Samsung, so yeah, it's a refresh for the Wizard.
HTC P4350 is very nice device if 3G connectivity in not a _MUST HAVE_ requirement. I am very happy with HTC P4350 so far. It has sensationaly good keyboard.

Yes, but the HTC Haiser (HTC P4550) don't have infra-red connection. It is its only "defect".

Its about time they kill the IR... it doesnt have much use these days anyway, especially since HTC havent made them very powerful lately... but thats my opinion
google for the Imate ultimate 7150. No GPS, but the 3.5" VGA screen & 18mm thickness might make up for that.
I looked at the Ultimate 7150 but decided that it's too wide for me - I wanted something smaller than my old Motorola A925 in every dimension!
A colleague at work is deciding between the Ultimate 8150 and Kaiser - The Kaiser won out today and now he's just waiting for it to become available.
It was the keyboard that swayed him in the end.

To be honest, i wont be buying another HP device. It will be the same story, outlay 100's of $/£/Eur for a device that will be as uptodate as a housebrick 6months later.
Dont do it to yourself mate! Look at some of the new devices coming out and make a very careful decision about buying another HP device.
I know exactly what you mean, but the HP devices are the only ones likely to have transflective screens, unless I buy an iPhone (which goes out of date in 7 days).
The G900, Kaiser, Touch Dual, Touch Cruise, X800, M800, none of them have transflective screens.
