I have official WM6 ROM 3.54.255.3, Radio 1.47.00.10. Sometimes when TyNT freezes, eMail account set in messaging disappears. It’s not possible to set it again with the same name, because the old one is stored somewhere and it causes conflict during setting new one.
Does someone know what could be the reason for dissapearing? And then where and what to delete or how to restore old account?

Hi All. I had an email account on my PDA ('Steve') which became corrupted, so I deleted it on the PDA and set up a new one with a new name ('Steve's email')
Now when I sync the device I ALWAYS get 630 items to resolve even though the NEW account is perfectly sync-ed with Outlook (I checked the data on a number of new appointments and tasks). It's a LOT of items that I don't *think* relate to the NEW account., although I obviously can't see the exact details, just the 'count'
My question is, is there any way there might still be some data on the PDA relating to the OLD email account? I was thinking that there might be a (hidden) database of some sort still on the PDA that I could delete
I've tried deleting the partnership and setting up a new one under a new name but it doesn't seem to make any difference....always 630!
Additionally, I've got '1' showing in the unread SMS account...but there's nothing in the folder

I have one question.
I have done a restore with Sprite Backup after a device swap. After the restore I am having problem with an IMAP mail account. The mail account is showing on the Today screen but not in Messenger. On the Today screen it is always saying 2 unread messages. If I try to create a new account with the same name in Messenger I get an error saying that there is already an account with this name.
Is it possible to manually get the mail account to appear in Messenger or to remove it from the Today screen?
I don’t want to do a hard reset just to remove the mail account from the Today screen.

Just hoped that it would be possible to remove it from the Today screen. I seem so stupid to have to go through a hard reset just to remove a non-existent email account from the Today screen.

Pop and IMAP accounts are linked to a device identifier, thus they cannot be restored to a new ROM or Device. Since Sprite Backup is the only software capable of restoring to a new ROM/Device it wouldnt hurt to spent a minute reading their FAQs BEFORE you update your ROM or change your device, as this change is not reversable
I presume the account details you want to remove are in the registry somewhere.
Might be worth doing a registry search for the account name you want to remove.
Ok I have a 8525 with the schaps 3.60a rom. I don't think the rom really matters as this problem has been going on since day 1 and i've been through 2 stock at&t roms and 2 3.60a cooked roms all with the same issue. I have the gmails pop settings enabled and I have no issues at all receiving email from gmail on my device.
The problem is that they don't stay in the inbox for more than a day. It seemed they stay in there for awhile when the email is initially setup but after a few days it goes back to clearing the inbox on its own. Gmail settings are set to receive all mail starting on 8/2/07. I innitially thought I might be causing a conflict with having the same email account setup in outlook07. So i've created another email account and I have that account setup in outlook and in the gmail settings I have it set to forward my main gmail account to that one. This way when I receive email on my home pc it doesnt use the same pop account as my 8525. This doesnt solve the problem though.
Anyone know of a solution or has encounted this problem? It seems others should be having this problem as I don't believe it is specific to my device and gmail being a pretty popular email service would lead me to believe I'm not the only one. Any help is appreciated.

if you do a search for gmail on the main hermes forum. There is a thread called "missing gmail emails" or somethin. Basically when you set the username on the hermes for gmail you need to add "recent:" without the quotes to the beginning of your username. this is automatically added when you detect gmail settings and I changed it to my normal username as I didn't think it would work with "recent:[email protected]". But I was wrong apparently you need to leave the setting alone and this resolves the sync issues with gmail and hermes.

does this apply to all pop mail or just gmail?
hi all,
i've been facing a weird problem with my outlook eversince i upgraded my blue angel to wm6
every time i configure an email account in outlook, it forgets it after sometime, meaning that the account does not show in the account picker list, although spb diary keeps on showing the unread mail count......
if i try to reconfigure the same email address with the same display name, it gives an error that the name is already in use.
please help me to access the 'lost' accounts again, and delete the ones that do not show up (and also the related emails).
is there any fix for this issue?
Can you even see the accounts listed under settings?
nope! they just *vanish* from everywhere.......
can someone point me to the system files associated to these accounts? maybe if i delete those files, i'll delete the mails associated and also clear the 'account display name' pool!

What phone and ROM are you using?
After setting up a new account, turn off the device normally, restart it and the settings should remain.
its not that the outlook forgets the accounts immediately.....it happens after sometime, usually quite randomly......sometimes in a day, sometimes in a week....

Then when I restart my phone, my mail accounts went missing. That is, there is no accounts configured but the HTC Sense tab still shows the emails I have received. Able to scroll up and down through the mails but when I click on them to launch the mail app, it shows me the setup account screen.
Anyone encountered this problem as well?
2 options I am looking for help on:
1. To somehow be able to restore the account back
2. To remove the orphaned account info so that it will not reflect on the HTC Sense, and I will re-create the accounts
known problem, do a search.
Noway to solve it apparently, only to limit the damage by creating a provision XML to restore the accounts quickly after they go away.
I think that making sure all programs are closed before doing a soft reset or turning off the device should help

I had never had this happen before until recently. The last change I made is to installed Radio 2.10.50.28_2 and it has since happened twice.
I just had this same thing happen on my HD2 about 2 days ago. i am running the stock 2.10.153.1 TMO US rom.
To fix it I had to go into the email setup under sense, delete the account, then add it again and this reconfigured the account for sense and the windows Messaging program.
Known issue. In case the mail account(s) don't appear under the winmo mail options, you can use the free app from below link to gain access and recover the account(s) by re-entering the missing details, and you should be good to go again.

another fix that works for me, is to go to the manila mail tab --> menu --> account settings and fill in any missing information.
