Anyone have a broken Ameo for sale? - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

I'm after an Ameo for parts etc - particularly a replacement cover. Does anyone have a broken one knocking about for me to fiddle about with? Doesn't matter if the screen is shot.
I have cash waiting.

I only have a microdrive for you
My Ameo was broken, so i repeared it myself )
I let the microdrive out.

hi, how much would you want for your microdrive? I'm predominantly after fascia and suchlike - i'd love to take my ameo apart and replace the silver housings on keyboard and main handset with the black. Alternatively does anyone know where you can get the keyboard and casing for an x7500? I've looked on cnn and ebay and also googled but to no avail :-(

somehelp xda2 screen broken need replacement

cmon guys ive been reading this forum for ages and how come there is no answers for getting a replacement screen lcd for the xda2 someone must sell them are they not the same as some sort of ipaq or whatever i have a good orange m1000 with a cracked lcd and want to purchase a new screen but not having much luck the phone is still in good order ie recieves calls and messages and works with activesync but i cant see screen.... sumone help
re:cracked screens
I don't think they sell replacement LCD screens because the cost to purchase would be close to the cost of replacing the phone, not to mention nearly impossible from a maintenance standpoint due to all the minute dis-assembly and PCB connections. I had an XDAII (Siemens SX-56) which had the same problem as yours - screen was cracked and phone still worked but was hard to use with the screen messed up. I ended up buying another unit from someone else so I now have two of them (I use the broken one for spare parts). Just this month I upgraded again to the MDAIII (Audiovox XV-5600) so I can sell you my Siemens SX-56 if you want a replacement unit. Just drop me a note at [email protected].
I can't comment on cost but replacing the Screen is simple. The hardest part is removing the black plastic cover without damaging it or the case.
All that is needed is a very small philips (Jewellers size) a T7 TORX driver and small flat head or similar, to seperate the case.
It's only one ribbon cable to connect the screen to the board but there are 2 different connectors so if you can find a supplier (I'm looking for some of these as well) then make sure that it matches the connector on your board.
These pics aren't that clear and I don't have any screens to show. One is just the plane ribbon cable that slides in the same as the XDA1 the other is a plug and socket.
XDA2 boards
Are you sure about the torx being a T7, I have always used a T6 torx driver.
screen
I had my serial port fixed by www.ppctechs.com and they do screens for $120.

No, you're right it's T6 but a T7 fits well enough to undo them
The screens ppctechs sell are only the touch screens not the the complete assembly which is what I need.
If you ever find a screen replacement, you can use my guided tour on how to open an XDA2, MDAII...
I've been looking for a replacement housing without any luck... Well, the only place I've found sells the housing for an arm and a leg... They must be joking!
Good luck!

Cingular 8125 / T-Mobile MDA: The same?

Just a simple question:
Are both phones the same? Do they use the same stylus pen? Do they use the exact same motherboard, screen, connectors and etc? The only difference is the case and keyboard shape?
Thanks in advance!
Both devices are HTC WIZARD 200. They have a different housing face plate and keypad. Therefore also the shape of the stylus might vary - I am not sure! I am using the MDA version which looks better on the front in my opinion. Allthrough I think the keyboard looks better on the 8125 ...
Anything else is the same in the devices.
A friend of mine is sending me a dead MDA and I'd like to know if I buy a Cingular 8125 with a broken screen, will I be able to use the motherboard from the MDA or the screen from the 8125 to get a fully functional unit?

I wouldn't buy a 8125 with a broken screen in first place! Research this forum for the SERVICE MANUAL of the HTC WIZARD! After seeing how to take it appart you might be able to imagine that too much can go wrong! The screen and the keyboard are the last things you can access! You open the device on the back and have to work all way down piece by piece until there ...
I saw broken screen WIZARDs on eBay for $150.00 - compared to that you can find working dev ices for $200.00 w/o contract.
Yeah I saw the service manual and got scared too, but I can give it a try I think, if I find a broken device for less than $150

Replacement touch screen, not LCD

So I perfect my GUI, its slick - nice fat icons for my chubby little fingers - Slide to unlock software, class! and a lovley contact scroller and MP3 scroller for easy music access...
and then, I'm in the workshop and I put a screw in my pocket - bend down to pick up something and "click", I have a brand new hole in my Touchscreen of my SPV M3100 (Heremes).
The LCD is grand - So I assume its just the membrane that was peirced and now it doesnt work, I hate using the hard buttons, and alas, im insurance free...
anyone have any idea where I can buy a replacement? in the UK prefereably - I dont want to send the phone away, as I could do it myself...
any leads would be grand - thanks

I bought an lcd/digitizer combo from a seller on eBay here in the states for $80 US....my digitizer was cracked but it looked easier to install as one unit (you'll see why) so I did that.
Check eBay, and keep on it. Took me about 2 weeks to find a local auction - but there were definately more on your side of the pond.
Sorry to be off topic but what contact and mp3 scroller are you using.
its called icontact - search for it on ppcwarez.org
the mp3 one is in their somewhere too..
works like Iphone,
nu screen anyone!?
Touch screen

Do not buy this thinking it will enable GPS - it won't.

LOL yea he's right, all it does is increase your bluetooth GPS devices range, it's just an add-on antenna to stick on the outside of your car for better reception.
As far as the Digitizer goes, I suggest you buy an LCD with a digitzer already on it. It's very difficult to replace just the digitizer and in most cases you'll end up ruining the LCD under it while taking the digitizer off, I've tried it about 5 different times and I could never get it to work correctly, so just go with the full LCD/Digitzer already together.

Kinda new to the Wizard.. Little help?

Im a blackberry guy (not a fanboy, I just own one) but I just recently got a broken MDA from a friend of mine. I have not had a chance to turn it on to see how well it works (battery is dead and no charger), but, there is a crack on the screen. My friend says it will turn on (dont know what it looks like; again), but it wont align. I dont know if she means it works fine OTHER then that, or if the crack is visable , or if the LCD is trashed looking or what, but onto my point.
On the back it says Wiza200. Does this mean its a MDA 2? Im lost when it comes to identifying this MDA. Its the T-mobile version (unless thats obvious, once again, im new, give me a break) and what Im looking to do worst case scenario is replace the LCD. I already found the guide how to take it apart and reassemble, but im still shopping for a LCD. Can someone point me in the direction of cheap replacements?
you can get a good oem replacement screen and digitiser (touch screen thingy bit) from ebay quiet cheep but you need to know which generation of wizard it is as they have different cables.
or you can send it to one of the various companies on the internet (like i have) for a screen to be fit for like £65 gbp.
How do I check which generation I have? Or is that unknown til I see the back of the LCD screen?
that you can tell kinds by the colour of the ribbon cable.
If i remember -if its yellowy/orange ribon then its a gen2 screen other then gen 1.
you should just be able to make out the cable colour when you slide the keyboard out and look between the gap from front screen to keyboard.
someone correct me if im wrong.

Kaiser Keyboard Replacement

Don't know if this has been mentioned before but you need not disassemble *anything* on the Kaiser (8925 / AT&T Tilt) to replace the keyboard. The keyboard has an adhesive backing. Open the slideout, then gently pry up the keypad. Don't worry if you destroy the old one. There are several layers - the key pads themselves, the rubber spongy part, the actual sensor (white layer) part, and the bottom which is a black layer with the adhesive.
I bring this up because I carefully disassembled the entire phone only to figure out that the keypad is inserted from the top (keypad) side, not attached in any way from the under side of that part of the housing.
I hope this helps somebody
I'm glad to know this! I've got a TyTN II with the standard black keyboard. I love it. So, I bought a phone on eBay that was supposed to be a real HTC TyTN II... but it is the TILT. I HATE the silver keys. I have found several sources on eBay for new keyboards, but am having trouble finding a black TyTN II board. I can find pretty easy, however, the WING keyboard. LOOKS identical...
Anyone know if it is a direct replacement?

thanks! i have another issue: some keys are harder to activate, mainly "g" and "y". could it be possible to clean it only and replace it? and is there a step by step manual for how to disassemble the keyboard?
thanks

yep same here. r, s, and spacebar give me the most trouble ( probably because they are so common. word recognition is my only workaround to this point but it is very frustrating. I guess the keyboards for the tilt dont hold up so well. I did remove and clean my t-mob dash keyboard with tuner cleaner from radioshack and it worked a treat. wish i could get a working keyboard out of my kaiser.
I was having the same problem with the w, v, and s keys and found this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2719032&postcount=1
I was planning on buying a new keyboard off ebay, but this worked like a charm.
Where can I buy a tilt replacement keyboard assembly other than Ebay, but at a similar price so I can receive it faster than if it came from China?

It's a rubber dome capacitance keyboard - there isn't much to clean. I ripped mine out and replaced it with one from eBay - no more pounding on the "T" key.
Problem is - my replacement keyboard is peeling up from the corners (adhesive isn't holding), so I'm going to throw another $5.00 into it and see if I can come up with a way to make the next one REALLY stay down in all 4 corners.
There are videos and manuals showing how to disassemble entire phone. Here's a link to the videos:
http://www.fonlogix.us/ATampT-Tilt-Complete-Housing-_p_548.html#
Once you watch that, I'm not sure you'll want the manual. But the 8925 service manuals are fairly easy to find in PDF format. I'll make you do the Google typing for that one.
hi, some of my keys on my tilt i have press'em harder in order for the key to work, would a keyboard replacement fix the issue?
