activesync problems - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi
I have a Cingular 8525 running wm6 rom vp3g 3.0.0 , radio 1.50 I've been trying to conect the phone with the pc the orange led ligth up but there is not syncronization, I try soft and hard reset on the device without sucess and the pc conect without problem with other devices, please do someone can help me or point me in the right direction to resolve this problem and the other question is if I can flas the rom for other wm6 version from the store card
thanks.

Please could some one help me with this.
Thanks.

uninstall activesync... get the latest version from microsoft and install it... should be fine at that point...

Found that the advanced networking on WM caused me problems with Activesync and firewalls - Once i disabled it XP saw my 3100 as a plain ol serial device again..

Thanks, i'm going to try but i used my other 8125 phone and it is conectiong and this the 8525 is not conecting with 3 diferents PC, I was thinking if there is a way to flash the room again with the wm6 from the store card or over the bluetooth conection.

Have you looked at the Mr Vanx guides to help you solve this problem? The answer will almost certainly be found here: www.mrvanx.org
Good luck.
WB

Sounds like its the single phn.. check that network setting as it could be set correctly on the one that connects ok..
Wouldn't even bother trying to flash it over Bluetooth..

wao this been a pain, I try so many things, first remove the activeync, clean the temporary file from the c:/ drive then restar pc and fresh install the activesyn, went to the 8525 settings-conection-usb to pc and uncheck network and conect to the pc but nada nothing just the batterery stat charging but not link with the pc no even the pc reconize that there is a device conected to it.
please any other advice would be appreriate, the phone is working great but i have not comunication betwen the pc and the phone.
thanks.

mine has exactly the same problem.
It has been working with activesyn fine then today the PC wont even recognise the phone.
Tried remove/reinstalling activesync, new usb cable and even on a different computer.
The phone shows it charging when pluuged in but nothing else.

I'm NOT suggesting this is the problem you have but just a possible cause to eliminate:
Have you used Memmaid or any other application (Scarybear / Sktools etc ) to clear the notifications queue (clear duplicates for alarms etc). If you have then did you also clear other files. If you did then you may have deleted vital repllog files that make the computer and PC start Active Sync.
If you have not done anything like this then ignore this post.
Mike

Ok, i did not but if I removed by any chance some files removing other softwear how can we repair wm6 without the USB conection.
thanks.

hello I was checking my device information and it hasradio version 1.16, this could be the problem doing the sincronizatio? is there a way to upgrade the radio thru the store card instead fro the pc?
thanks in advance.

Kudos and many thanks for those who do so much for the rest of us...
I am having this problem as well, but only since I upgraded my base desktop to XPpro and Office2007. The error message given at times involves "mobile deviceX" hardware installation going awry; at this point, I am on device 10.
It also appears to be device independant for me; I just synced and upgraded a wiz100, which went fine and dandy until it rebooted with the new ROM. All new ROMs in fact, and devolving doesn't appear to stop it.
I believe there may be an XP registry screwup... but at this point, I got no idears whar ta go
Lost in Yokel mode
Later....
Chalk me up for #11...as usual M$ article is almost, but not quite entirely, USELESS!
maybe this'll help somebody else...but I kinda doubt it.

Mike, I believe this is what has caused ActiveSync over USB not to work on my phone either. I cleared several items from the running notifications area using Task Manager v2.7 in an effort to kill repeating alarm alerts. I have currently running are: tmail.exe, repllog.exe, clock.exe and calup.exe. Could you please provide a list of other processes that should be running to allow activesync to operate properly over usb? I have researched this problem in depth and your idea is the only thing that makes sense
thanks.

THIS WAS MY PROBLEM!
i was using pmClean to clean temporary inet files and notifications, and it seems to be causing problems with activesync. i hard-reseted my Magician and activesync is working fine in every computer i attach it (almost a dozen right now)
thx a lot for your help!

Attention: Crisis Situation

hi forum...
I have an imate JJ & have been using it for 3 months now..
all of a sudden it refuses to synchronize with my laptop.
I tried the following but didn't wrk:
1) deleting the existing partnership.
2) uninstalling & reinstalling activesync.
3) tried installing both activesyncs( the one which came along in the cd & the one we have on our ftp).
4) hard resetted my device.
none of the above have solved the problem. my pc does recognize the ppc as a lan connection as it should. the activesync green icon in the taskbar also goes green && starts rotating, but it just keeps saying "Connecting" but never actually connects..
Please Help Me..
Thanx,
mOrph...
Hey,
Pune huh? Which part of Pune? I used to stay in Wanowrie Was a student at BVP Medical University.
Anyhoo, when you reinstall AS, make sure its on a drive different from the original install. Also make sure your firewall's are disabled (even the native SP2 firewall).
Hopefully, it should sync properly now. Let us know if it doesn't and we'll help you sort it out
Cheers.
Did you clear the notifications or something? If you used pocket mechanic or the like and delete one of them AS don't (& won't) work until you HR again, afaik.
Joe
that is correct. you can verify it by manually starting repllog on the PDA while ActiveSync tries to connect

I screwed up my AS on my JasJar doing some foolish & ignorant cleaning with ScareyBear's CheckNotifications, but was able to re-enable AS using this tool (no hard reset needed)!

hi u guys...
I tried syncing after disabling the firewall of XP SP2 but it didn't help...
what else can be done?
Syncing through bluetooth is not an option as my laptop has a builtin bt with toshiba drivers which doesn't allow me to sync. && i'd rather not overwrite the toshiba stack with the widcomm... don't wanna add a prob to my laptop to remove one from my ppc...
is there any foolproof way of getting back at syncing thru usb?
pls help

morph
Happend to me
I solved the problem by connecting ppc to a laptop usb, then connected back to my main macine and bingo

Guys...
Activesync still not happening...
Pls help
When I got this problem, it was due to synchronising something it didnt want to sync, namely favourites and web pages. Try changing your sync settings to say just contacts, then just calendar, then just tasks etc... and work down the list until you identify the problem.
I would guess its your favourites.
let me know, and we will commence a fact find and test process for alternatives 1 by 1.
Activesync problem
Open Activsync but Don't turn your XDA EXEC on before you plug in the USB. Let acivsync turn the device on then give it a minute to find the changes. Hope this helps.

Did you try installing the tool I linked to above? I've attached it to this post, it helped me restore AS when I somehow deleted it off my device.
I sync via bluetooth since i had those problems as well, and NO problems since then. Moreover, using BT is much much faster, at least for me.
recommend.
gotta love it when you try to help, offer multiple suggestions to some dude pleading for assistance multiple times, then get zero feedback as to the effectiveness of the fix (s) offered.
hey "morphosin" what was the outcome, all fixed?

Sorry for the late reply dude...
I tried all possible solutions including your last given solution of trying to remove favorites... The problem is that On a fresh install of activesync, it doesnt even take me t the window where i choose my syncing options. It just keeps going green & round & says connecting. I manually tried to go to options through the menubar but everything except help is grey(disabled).
As for alnwick's suggestion.. I always have been doing that. Even on my Himalaya when i had Magneto, i used to switch off the device & let activesync wake it up.. It always helped but not in this condition... Dunno why... Its really sad that two M$ OS have so muchanimosity between em...
Is there any other solution that strikes u guys?
Hey Simon.. Really sorry buddy... I do appreciate all your guys help ALOTTTT... only problem is that my work hasnt been allowing me to be regular for last couple of days...
Thanx all for ur precious time....

PS : Problem not solved as yet
Hi,
I have the same problem with my Exec too. However it doesn't happen so often. Probably once in every 10 successful sync. I always managed to fix it using the "old-fashion" manner.
1. Unplug your USB from your Exec
2. Reset your computer
3. Plug it in again once your computer has finish booting the OS.
It is pretty basic and I guess that you have already tried it yet. It works for me all the time when I do so. Sometimes I wonder whether could it be the USB connector on the Exec that is faulty or my computer USB port or the cable.
Hope your Exec will be up and running properly again.
Regards,
Johnnie

Hey Johnnie...
Thanx alot for the suggestion buddy.. Unfortunately, i tried that long time ago... Also, in my case atleast it cannot be the h/w (USB Connectors on ppc or pc or the cable) as i used to sync absolutely fine with 100% hitrate. Infact, every time u have a problem try this buddy :
1) Go to task manager of ur ppc & turn off everything.
2) Switch off ur exec.
3) Attach cable & allow the activesync to wake up your device.
It might increase your hitrate.
For all the other kind souls here...
I am attaching a snapshot of how my activesync window looks while it is trying to connect.
Thanx All

I have similar problem: Activesync tries to connect and after some time it says, it could not connect.
When I make a reset with the reset button, it works again for some time.
hmmm, what could it be?

ActiveSync cannot be completed successfully...

Sorry in advance for another AS issue. However, search as I may, I couldn't loacte anything like this...
Anyhow, my T-mobile MDA (US) has about driven me nuts with this issue. I was able to sync successfully a few times. However, now when I plug in the MDA via USB (direct, not through any hub), it will connect but when the device starts to sync, I get the following error from ActiveSync:
"Synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync troubleshooter in Microsoft ActiveSync help on your desktop computer".
I've uninstalled activesync, deleted all registry entries, reinstalled, ensured proper firewall configuration, changed com ports, disabled my internal WLAN card and BT card...and nothing. Short of a hard-reset, I am at a total loss.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any work-arounds?
try to install everything again and don't plug it on the usb hub...coz power is not sufficient on a usb hub .. just try.
I'm getting the same error exactly on my Cingular 8125. plugged into pc directly via USB, tried reinstalling AS several times to no avail. Please help. I don't want to have to hard reset. :? Thanks
As I mentioned in my OP, there is no USB hub involved in my setup. This is a direct USB connection from my PC to the MDA.
ooppppssss
hehehe.. Are you syncing via the cradle or a hotsync cable ?. Sometimes if the cable is also charging, the connection is not sucessfull until it's fully charge and the top light is green.
I've had this problem myself before now.
Rockshow...are you also running SPB Weather?
No, i'm using spb pocket plus 3.1 though, but its the first thing I installed and i'm just now having problems after 3 weeks without any problems
Firewall

Do you use a firewall (Windows XP or other one)
If so, check this out.

It worked for me!
grtz,

I'm also facing the same problem with my tmobile-mda(us). I had spbplus but after this problem, uninstalled it. but the problem still exists.. any help ?
i noticed 2 things with my sync problems which are now resolved. one problem was with softick card export, it was causing some errors which were gone when i uninstalleed it. but then had another problem, it would disconnect while syncing randomly. i found out that my cable was damaged(some dirt was in the connector which thankfully ruined the cable and not the phone part) also when u first connect ur device it shows that network connection in the taskbar with the bouncing yellow ball. if u right click it and click on repair that helps some time.

What's the significance of PSB Weather? I've had sync problems, some days it works some days it doesn't. I can cope with that, but sometimes SPB weather doesn't update it self for days, which is a bit of a pain!
Incidentally I recently hard-reset my device, reinstalled SPB Weather and can nolonger select the option of syncing from weather.com, which limits my choic of available cities. Any ideas?

Try killing and restarting activesync on the phone. I've only had that problem once and that sorted it.
I had the same problem.
Found out it was my virus protection (TrendMicro PC-Cillin) When I disable my virus protection it syncs, otherwise it only connects and then gives the error you described.
I had the exact same problem untill a few minutes ago when I did a hard reset. I back up my all my data using Sprite but when I restored it gave me the same error message. I gave up and did another hard resetjavascript:emoticon(':x')
Mad. Right now I'm reinstalling all my programs. I would love to know how to fix this without a hard reset just in case it happens again....javascript:emoticon('')
Crying or Very sad

I had the same error today. But luckely i was only using ActiveSync 4.0, so i just updated to version 4.2 (I had to because of the new rom upgrade). I haven't had the problem since. But i have only tried it once... so i donno.
same problems with my Neo today.
Funny thing is that I could sync for 3 days then it suddenly stops. USB is recognized but then the "connecting" sign is just on and on and on.
I've tried all the methods from Microsoft web and from you guys in this forum but hopeless. (except for Re-install XP sp2)
Still searching the solution
Cheers

Yeah,
I seem to be having the same problem. It connects, then just hangs at "Looking for Changes." It doesn't even load up the list of things that it normally used to showing what it's comparing to sycn up. It was working FINE until just now....I've resetted the PDA, and my comp a few times already, and I even allowed all those ports access in both directions, both TCP and UDP through Norton Firewall...I'm completely at a loss....Any ideas?

Active sync problems!!!!!! (with pics)

was going to upgrade to the new exec ROM today.... except Active sync decided to fail on me.
I'm running 4.1 on windows XP (SP2) and when i connect the exec via USB NOTHING happens at all, the little icon doesn't even go green or anything. i just get two "bum" and "bum, bum" sounds lol
However the LED on the exec does turn orange (the charging mode colour)
any help is much appreciated on how i can resolve this issue.
thanks everyone!
Check your ActiveSync connection settings (file -> connection settings) and make sure USB is enabled.
done that, and it is ticked....
i have also tried reinstaling active sync....
Turn OFF all your firewalls and try it again.
done that too........ followed the whole trouble shooting thing aswell... all in vain...
in the device manger from my desktop, under "network adaptors", "windows-mobile based device" is showed with a yellow circle with an explanation in it. it then states uunder "properties"
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28 )
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."
The usual reason that ActiveSync has is the firewall. I pull out my WiFi card, disable the firewall, then connect the cable.
Once the unit has been sync'd I can put the firewall back on and get back on the net.
YMMV.
If your firewall wasn't blocking it before, then it might not be this.
quck update. when i coneect now, in the task bar a little bubble apears stating "new hardware found"
then a box appears with "Found new hardware wizard" on it.
i have a similar problem:
when i connect, activesync does recognize and attempt to sync, but when it starts 'looking for changes', it never ends! it keeps on 'looking for changes' for ever, or at least VERY LONG, ending up with an error on my PC saying that synchronisation failed and that i should restart my desktop computer, which doesn't solve thw problem..
with my blueangel i never had this problem, although i was using activesync 4.1 already back then too..
ideas, anyone?

This is exactly what I have on my computer too. The only solution for me is to turn OFF windows firewall and all other firewalls I have, then active sync works as it should be. You have to remember to turn OFF all firewalls BEFORE connecting your Universal via USB for it to work. It will not work if you connect the Universal first then shut OFF all firewalls. It has to be the other way around.
Ok i have a simlar problem, but let me explain first:
I upgraded to winmobile2005 on my Himalaya which went well and without a hitch. I was on my parents pc and i active sync' without a problem.
Ive now come home, and i cant sync. It sits there saying 'Retreaving settings...' and just doesnt go any further. Ive soft and hard reset device, checked firewalls etc - no luck.
It has identified the old active sync name, but nothing else. I can explore the device before it crashes after looking though about 5 directories/downloading large files.
How can i remove the old sync information from the device (as i guess this is the issue)?
Cheers for your time,
Sam.

If you already "Hard Reset" your device, then whatever information on it has already been erased clean to factory defaults, unless you are restoring from a backup program after the hard reset. Then I suggest you restore to a file prior to performing an active sync connection to your parents' computer.

Regarding Firewall
I've posted this earlier in another thread, but I guess it is not bad to post here again
Regards
------------
Thank you for your suggestion, I would however say this "Be Careful", I would NOT turn firewall completely if I were you guys, IF I have doubt that it is due to firewall, I would turn the firewall ONLY for the Universal interface
pls find the steps here
1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Security Center
5. Windows Firewall icon in the lower part
6. Advanced Tab
7. UNCHECK the Network Connection that represents your Universal
Note,
A. To be sure that you are not disableing firewall on the wrong interface, please rename your Local Area Connection (x) to your Pocket PC device, so then you would know for sure you are dealing with the RIGHT connection (I use SPV M5000), renaming it is very easy, right click on the connection in the NETWORK CONNECTIONS, then RENAME
B. Disabling firewall for all connections IS VERY DANGEROUS especially IF YOU ARE ONLINE or ON A NETWORK, you might get SERIOUS problems, from viral infections to Hacking (only God knows)
C. The above applies only for WINDOWS FIREWALL on Windows XP Service Pack 2, I have no idea how to do it with Zone Alarm or ANY other software as I dont use any, but I think there must be someway to do so.
All the best & good luck.

Yes, both locations have v 4.1 installed. Does no one know of the files i should be removing on my PDA then? :S
Blofse : there are no files to remove - you've already said that you've done a hard reset and returned it to the factory settings which removes all user data and therefore, the device has nothing on it at all about partnerships with computers - i would suggest looking elsewhere for a resolution.
Budo : I think your problem is the yellow symbol on the network card entry in device manager. In this case, I would unplug the exec, righht click on this network card entry and click remove. Then uninstall activesync. Make sure the actve sync folder is deleted and check the windows\system32 folder for files called rapi.dll and ceutil.dll (these might have gone during the uninstall, but check anyway).
Reboot your PC and reinstall activesync before plugging in your exec again.
Hopefully, this will sort you out but post back if it doesn't.
Cheers,
Smiffy.

Connecting, connecting, connecting.......

Activesync just keeps trying to connect and is never successful. I have re-installed Activesync on my pc but it didn't help. Also, my work pc doesn't connect either. Definately a problem with my 8125. All has been well for a couple months and I have added no new software before the problem started. This problem also happened about two weeks after I got the phone and the only resolution was a hard reset. What a pain reinstalling all the software and settings I have now, it's customized just the way I like it. Anyone know how to re-install Activesync on JUST the phone or have any other ideas?
Try the latest activesync 4.2 beta and disable any firewalls if possible on the pc. On the device start activesync application and go to menu\options - delete pc that you are syncing with and try again.
Deleted profiles on both pcs installed beta on one. Still no connecting. Tried clicking SYNC on phone, pauses for a second then nada. No connection.
Have you deleted profiles on the device? and disable firewalls, and if you have a network adapter enable it because latest activesync treats the connection with device as a network - there are many posts on this issue do a search and read through some - seem to be many different factors involved.
First- Thanks for the replies Mark
I removed the PC profiles from my 8125. Also reinstalled Activesync 4.2 on my work pc. Nothing. Although this time I got an error message- Cannot find the file "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=65257&clcid=0x409" (or one of its components) Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all libraries are available". Like I would know what that means. Anyways, no firewall enabled. Besides, this should not be happening, all of a sudden, on 2 separate pcs. That kinda rules out a pc problem. It has to be in the phone. That, and the fact that a hard reset fixed it last time. I'm thinking something corrupted in Activesync on the phone???
And searching on this forum is useless. I type in "connecting Activesync" and every post with either word shows up. 614 in just Wizard forums alone. Is there a way to search so that ONLY posts with both words show up? That way I can modify my wording until I find something useful. Search for any terms or use query as entered is ticked. On other forums you can just use quotation marks but not this one. It makes searching very difficult. ROB
Oh, and yes my network adapters are still enabled as always.
Yes best to search with the word AND cuts out all the other stuff i.e. activesync AND connection would do it. Yep sounds like it may be the device.
found couple of posts that seem to be relevant

Happy reading, the last post is about connecting activesync via bluetooth so maybe thats an option.
Thanks Mark. I think I may try the bluetooth connection when I get home tonight. Or I may just throw in the towel and do a hard reset. that worked last time. Plus, I can install the latest ROM upgrade. Shame theres no way to uninstall and reinstall Activesync on the phone. Seems that should do the trick (maybe). Just tried my friends 8125 on my work pc- syncs just fine. So much for all the pc fixes everyone seems to be trying.
I had the same problem with AS refusing to connect via usb or BT.
In the end i went & purchased (although the demo version would have done) Sprite backup. installed on the PC. Browsed to the install dir to find the cab file. copied to my wizard (wifi, or sd card reader etc).
Insatlled & backed up to SD card
Hard reset
restore
stop here if you're happy, if not
AS to sync calender & contacts to pc
hard reset
update ROM
AS contacts, cal, docs etc back to wizard
install SW & settings
BACKUP
Yep. Had to hard reset. All is working again. Crappy Activesync. What's up with this P.O.S. ? Trying to setup bluetooth now and the pc finds the phone but AS won't connect. The phone finds the pc (HomeCenter) but it shows no services available. I'm assuming that there should be some listed (maybe Activesync?) Guess I'll have to do some searching for bluetooth problems with AS now. Did I mention that AS is a P.O.S??? But you all knew that already.
Dont forget to open a port in you BT settings (on the pc) and tell AS (also on the pc) to accept connections on that port.
Then your wizard should be able to see the AS service on the pc (you initiate the sync from the phone, not the pc)
I have had this problem since day one, and continue to have it despite several (more than 15) hard resets, multiple ROMs, multiple pertnerships etc. I plug in my PPC USB, and it just says "connecting" forever. Every time, after plugging in my USB, I have to shut off my PPC, and turn it back on. Then my laptop finds and connects with my PPC, and syncs all my data like it should. If I do this more than 3 times, my laptop crashes and reboots. If anyone has figured out how to fix this, let me know.

Any update on this....
urgent....
First of all, not being able to find your device is 'normal' ... until you've made an activesync connection, you won't see your device.
Now, for your activesync problem, do you see an error code? Like 80004005 or 80006007?
It's a pretty common problem for activesync, but from my experience it seems to pop its ugly head a lot more often for WM6 devices than the older OS, like the 'tried and tested' WM2003SE platform.
There could be many causes for this. I'd suggest going through the following steps to try to fix it:
1. Disable all the items under Option (calender, contacts, notes, everything) and see if it can be connected via Activesync. If it can't, you're really screwed ... go to step 5
2. Disconnect your phone, and close Outlook on your PC. Now find scanpst.exe on your PC (installed with Outlook) and run it to scan and fix your .pst file.
3. Re-connect your phone, now add the options 1 by 1. I'd start with Notes, then contacts and calender. See if running scanpst.exe fixes the problem. If you're luck, you could be out of the woods by now.
4. If you get the same error after adding a particular item in option, that help you isolate where the problem is. Look at the entries in that item (calender, contact, notes etc) and see if there's anything that casues the problem. Relocate the items if necessary and add them 1 by 1.
5. If everything fails, or if you don't even care about the programs you've installed on the phone, just do a hard-reset (hold down green + red button at the same time, poke the reset button while still holding down the buttons, and press "select" when the messge appears on screen) and connect the phone to the PC and see if it syncs. If your phone can't even sync fresh after a hard-reset, send the phone back for repair.
I know from my experience, moving the contacts and adding them 1 by 1 got me out of the woods 1 time, and the other time I had to do a hard-reset ... good thing I backup my device weekly.
Good luck!
My bet is that you have a bad USB cable.
I have definitely seen the exact error messages and problems you describe with a HTC Universal.

Hi number 16,
Could you tell me where exactly are located the *pst. files? When I try to run scanpst.exe, it tells me to browse to the respective file, but I can't find it.
Thanks a lot.
The .pst file is the Outlook data file. Close outlook first, and right click on the icon to go to "Properties". From there you can see the location of your current .pst file location.

Hi number16
Thanks for your suggestions but I had already tried steps #1 to # 4. After that I had deleted all the relationship.
Now at present I don’t have any relationship for my device to PC.(When I had plug-in my device and tried to sync through ActiveSyc 4.5 it will show me Guest or new name for relationship.)
On some different forum they have some kind of problem there it was suggested to delete the Windows/ Temp folders files so that it will resolve the above problem.
Any think else you would like to suggest.
Hope somebody help me..

Have you *tried* another USB cable?
(I know, I know... but a cable that fails to sync can transmit data, I have seen this - it is strange but true).
Also
you may inadvertently have disabled a network connection on your PC. If you connect you should see a network icon showing like it is trying to obtain an ip address. If you disable that by accident it can also prevent connections but I still think you should try a new cable then check your network connections

Hey Sandi!
Have you tried unchecking the option under Settings\(System or Connection)\Usb to PC ?
Also, have you looked the pins of the miniUSB port? Are they in good shape?
Regards!

Hi kokotas
Thanks for your reply.
well I had checked below things.
under Settings\(System or Connection)\Usb to PC = checked status.
I had took new *** USB Cable*** and tried to reconect but it won;t work out.
now I am worried I am unable to syn my device to my PC.
Uregent help required.
Sandi
1. Try:
Under Settings\(System or Connection)\Usb to PC = UNCHECKED status.
2. So you've tried a new cable and nothing changed! But I told you about the miniUSB port in your phone! Do you see any broken, twisted pins in there? I'm telling you this because I had my phone's pins broken and I have no connectivity via usb anymore!
Regards!
One final thought
Hi Saisan
I would counsel that you should try another PC first.
Next step:
Unplug your device...
Uninstall Activesync, remove the registry keys for the program and reboot. Download the latest release of ActiveSync and install that.
I would also suggest you could do worse than enable "SHOW_HIDDEN_DEVICES" in device manager and remove all greyed out items under USB in device manager (WITH YOUR DEVICE NOT ATTACHED) then reboot and reconnect your device.
Failing that you probably have either a connectivity issue (physical cables or connectors) or you have a logical connection issue (I think there is a possiblity that you have inadvertantly disabled a network connection).
When you connect a WM6 device it creates a new network connection which generally appears in the system tray. If you disable this (right click disable) active sync will stop working.
If you go into your network connections folder and re-enable any items that are disabled it should work. PROVIDED YOU HAVE TURNED OFF WINDOWS FIREWALL FIRST...
It does sound like a physical cable or connection problem though.
Hope that helps

hi kokotas
I had goen throught the steps:
Under Settings\(System or Connection)\Usb to PC = unchecked.
and checked the pins are not broken and twisted but unfortunatly it is giveing me same error.
I think I will rediscribe my issue. I am able connect my device but unable to syncronize it .
Problem: I have HTC Touch (Black one) P3450 from last few days while I

Hi leon
Thanks for your advice. but I had tried this think already.
I had reinstalled Activesync 4.5 on new machine and tried to get sync.
I think there were some logical connection issue on which I am unable to create the relationship with my device from PC.
I had also tried to delete all the pervious relationship's and reconnected the same.
On some other forum it was suggested to delete the files from Windows/Temp directory from Device. but in HTC Touch when I connect the device it will automatically start activesync and it was connected but not sync.
shows message:
error: "Synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect
your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft
ActiveSync Troubleshooter in Microsoft ActiveSync Help on your desktop
computer."
please help in this regards.

Hi Sandi,
Have you found a solution yet?
I've been facing the same problem for sometime now. Additionally, all files on my touch have become read-only. I can't copy, move or delete any files on the phone.
