Anyone know of a good website to get replacement parts from? The ear piece, and 2 led's dont work. The cable that attaches them has been severed completely and doesnt work.. It looks like it's soldered but I cant see for sure.. I could try resoldering that ribbon but I'd rather see the prices for the replacement piece first.

cmon guys ive been reading this forum for ages and how come there is no answers for getting a replacement screen lcd for the xda2 someone must sell them are they not the same as some sort of ipaq or whatever i have a good orange m1000 with a cracked lcd and want to purchase a new screen but not having much luck the phone is still in good order ie recieves calls and messages and works with activesync but i cant see screen.... sumone help
re:cracked screens
I don't think they sell replacement LCD screens because the cost to purchase would be close to the cost of replacing the phone, not to mention nearly impossible from a maintenance standpoint due to all the minute dis-assembly and PCB connections. I had an XDAII (Siemens SX-56) which had the same problem as yours - screen was cracked and phone still worked but was hard to use with the screen messed up. I ended up buying another unit from someone else so I now have two of them (I use the broken one for spare parts). Just this month I upgraded again to the MDAIII (Audiovox XV-5600) so I can sell you my Siemens SX-56 if you want a replacement unit. Just drop me a note at [email protected].
I can't comment on cost but replacing the Screen is simple. The hardest part is removing the black plastic cover without damaging it or the case.
All that is needed is a very small philips (Jewellers size) a T7 TORX driver and small flat head or similar, to seperate the case.
It's only one ribbon cable to connect the screen to the board but there are 2 different connectors so if you can find a supplier (I'm looking for some of these as well) then make sure that it matches the connector on your board.
These pics aren't that clear and I don't have any screens to show. One is just the plane ribbon cable that slides in the same as the XDA1 the other is a plug and socket.
XDA2 boards
Are you sure about the torx being a T7, I have always used a T6 torx driver.
screen
I had my serial port fixed by www.ppctechs.com and they do screens for $120.

No, you're right it's T6 but a T7 fits well enough to undo them
The screens ppctechs sell are only the touch screens not the the complete assembly which is what I need.
If you ever find a screen replacement, you can use my guided tour on how to open an XDA2, MDAII...
I've been looking for a replacement housing without any luck... Well, the only place I've found sells the housing for an arm and a leg... They must be joking!
Good luck!

Does anyone know where i can get a hold of one? My earpiece died so i took my device apart and noticed the cable is damaged. It got caught on something from opening and closing the keyboard.
It is not clear, what hv u damaged..in either case of strip connector broken, u hv to change mother board...no other option..
The EXACT same thing happened to me on a 9100. Earpiece died. Took it apart and saw that the ribbon cable snagged on something and tore. I was hoping I could just find a replacement cable, but havent tried looking anywhere yet though.
I think 888-482-8725 is htc's parts line. I got a replacement battery cover for an 8125 from them. Or you could try calling t-mobile and see who they patch you through for htc service and try to buy one from them.
hdubli, thats not an image of the damaged part, i didn't take a picture of my broken one. That is the picture from the disassembly manual. And no the mother board doesn't need to be replaced.
guttrhead, did yours get snagged on the small plastic rectangle thats supposed to cause less friction(its glued to a rectangular felt) as you slide your device open? Anyway i emailed pocket pc techs over the weekend and they replied with their phone number and told me to call and speak to a technician. Which i did and i got a hold of one and he notified me that they don't carry that part and he doesn't know where to get it from. Tomorrow i'll give the number you posted a call as well as head over to mda and ask them what they do with damaged MDA's.
I don't know what it snagged on. I didn't take it apart entirely, just enough to see what was wrong. I'll see if I can get a picture of it up sometime later today.
so no one knows where to get parts for the wizard?
i've called ppc techs, htc usa, and Top Solutions in miami. NOTHING....
I just posted it for sale on craigslist.org with a free BT headset because i can't use it anymore without the earpiece working if i don't find this part, it'll be on ebay at the end of the week... think i'll go for a Prophet after i sell it.
I forgot about this topic. I'm surprised that none of those places would sell the piece. The t-mobile one is the same and I know htc usa supports that. Maybe they just need a little convincing to sell the part.
Heres some pictures of what I was talking about. Crappy, cause I took them with another wizard. You can see that that ribbon cable is torn. I guess it was due to the little black rectangle thats underneath the cable. You can see it best in the bottom picture. The only thing I've noticed is that the main speaker doesn't work.
I do not speak english, but, my problem is equal, see photos below:

How to fix?
Yep, exact same thing that happened to me.
I fixed mine by purchasing a damaged wizard on ebay and swapping the parts out. I also noticed the damaged one i bought, which is a t-mobile mda, doesn't have that rectangular plastic piece. So there really is a difference between the Imate K-Jam and the MDA.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I no longer have the mainboard from the damaged MDA i bought off ebay so please don't PM me asking for it.
you maybe able to cut out the damaged bits and solder in some insulated wrapping wire, looks like thread but it is copper wire and most often blue insulation, then remove the offending black rectangle or try rerouting the cable a bit to stay outta the way...
bhang
ps
its worth a try or you could risk a handset exchange from tmob if yiou are a customer, they take your and referb it and send you somebody elses refurb, it can be a gamble...
hey how hard is it to replace the usb jack? how is it fixed on the motherboard and how can i get rid of the old one and fix the new one?
i ve seen all the dissambling guides but none showed how to replace the jack
Its soldered to the motherboard. I think you need a microscope to do it and have experience with soldering VERY small joints. Look on ebay under 8525 usb jack and you'll see what it looks like. The solder welds are extremely small. There may be repair places online that do it. Personally I wouldn't attempt it and I have general soldering experience.
hmm ok,
do you know any repair shop? maybe in germany?
No --------sorry.
I have to hold the connection up to get any sound out of it and even then it only comes out on one side, and when I let go there is no sound. I've heard it can be complicated to get fixed does anyone know anything about it? Its a fairly old model.
In the process of replacing my lcm, I managed to tear the button flex cable that connects to the mainboard.
I am currently looking for a the button flex replacement. What is the best way of tracking something like this down without going to HTC?
If there is no current seller/merchant available...Um...Is anyone selling an HTC HD2 for parts!?!?!?
Pics included...You can see the button strip, and the little 45 degree angle break on the flex..SUCKS!
I saw the break... Man, that's bad luck...
I hope you find a new button strip. The only other solution would be to solder fine wires from the point I highlighted on the photo. But that is very very very difficult... If you decide to do so until you find a new button strip I would recommend you to let an expert solder it, for example a television-technician. That shouldn't cost you more than a bier for the technician!
Wish you luck!
This just in, I have since purchased a broken hd2 and replaced the button strip. It has a light adhesive and is mounted on two small plastic posts on either end. To loosen the adhesive, just apply gentle heat (blow dryer) and GENTLY peel off. You might come across a stubborn part and want to give it a harsh tug, but you need to methodically peel it up using some sort of flat piece to get from underneath it.
Another torn flex Anyone has spare one or knows where can I get it?
I'm sorry but can't help. I get parts for iPAQs from iPAQ Repairs in the UK. I'm surprised there isn't something similar for HTC parts.
I'm interested in what an 'lcm' is. I've seen it mentioned but with no description.
i need one of these too. i hate htc's policy in not selling parts directly.
This button board should only be like upto $40 usd.
im needing a main board charger soxet broke if price is right ill sell
I have the same problem ....you solved?
where did you buy?
Hi
I got a keypad PCB on eBay... But it was very expensive

You should be a good electronic technician or know a good one. Otherwise I advice you not to try. I am a ordinary technician and I can say that in my case it was very very difficult and even if I tried hard, I wasn't able fix all connections. Only two of my buttons work right now.
How to Replace Button Strip?
Anyone know of a link showing how to replace this strip? Either I can't find key words for a search or there aren't any good videos out there. - thanks
Good to hear I'm not the only one to snap it so easily. Ordered a replacement from e-bay.
Sorry to dig up an old post but, I need that little wire that connects the wifi/bluetooth module to the main board. I replaced the digitizer in my phone and I somehow jacked up one of the ends on the cable. Anyone out there have parts?
I replaced my digitizer and lcd screen but i made a mistake while at it.
I need a new wire but I have no idea what it is for, so I can't search on where to buy it.
It's the longest wire and I think it is the antenna because I can't scan for a wifi or get any data running.
It plugs in to a small circular plug both ways. There are two smaller ones (black and white) right next to the vibrator.
Can anyone help me out???
Indeed, sounds like WiFi antenna.
Just my luck.. Already did a search and I can't find anywhere that sells that piece.
Does anyone know where I can find it?
You tried soldering, if possible? Sometimes full housings on ebay come with pieces like that.
I have never soldered before and I would give it a try if someone told me what to buy... I don't want to mess it up then have to buy a full housing
