My phone tends to crash and reboot alot...
The only time i see it running fine is if it's running off the wall or car charger.
and sometimes, when I take it off the cable, it reboots...but the phone says the battery is @ 100% still...
Other times, it reboots mid call...overall, it tends to reboot whenever it feels like it...
I dont know whats wrong...
phone specs are:
NBD 7.9
--------
IPL: 2.25
SPL: 2.25
GSM:2.25.11
OS: 4.0.0.0
Does this still happen after a hard re-set? Cingular 8125
ROM 2.25.11.1
quite honestly? you described a faulty battery. when it's not being fed constant current from the wall or the car it crashes reboots or shuts down sounds like a bad battery to me.
get one on ebay for like 20 bucks and your problem should be well solved.
better yet, find a friend with the same phone (not easy to come by) and use his or her battery.

Hi,
My O2 XDA Exec, for reasons best known to itself (well, not to me anyway), has started soft-resetting itself randomly. In fact, it can be part-way through the boot-up sequence after a soft-reset, and reset again! The period between resets can be mere seconds to 30+ minutes of error-free use.
I have tried hard-resetting, removing any additional software, and am running 'Corporate' version of the ROM. The ROM version is 1.13.82 WWE (30/11/05), Radio version 1.04.02, ExtROM version 1.13.188 WWE.
The Exec will show this behaviour whilst plugged into the USB cable (which trickle charges it), the A/C charger, and when standing by itself. It seems to start getting worse when battery level reaches around 70%.
I have not submitted it to any shock, and the device has worked fine for months now. I'm sitting in India at the moment on holiday, and wonder whether gradual heat exposure might have been causing problems.
I'm not entirely convinced that upgrading to the latest ROM will work unless somehow the ROM has been corrupted. In fact, I'm scared the device will reset again part-way through the ROM upgrade, and leave me with an expensive brick.
My suspicions lie with a fault with the battery or the voltage sensing circuit.
Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated, as I have been unable to find any other posts that look similar to mine.
Cheers,
James
Hi everybody,
I'm having a strange problem with my i-mate jam.. I've replaced the battery 2 months ago with a new one. The new battery works like a charm.. I can make calls with only 6% of charge..
Anyway, about a week ago, the battery meter started jumping all over the place; all of a sudden the meter would show 100% charge then change to "Charging" state with 0% charge (both the primary AND the backup battery)!! Then in a while change back to 100%, then eventually it goes back to the real charge value (65% for example).. And then it goes to 0% "Charging" and so on.....
When I connect the charger, the device shows the right charge value, but sometimes it gets stuck @ exactly 81% even after 2 hours of charging, the LED is constantly yellow as usual but I can see a green flash every 8 seconds or so..
Sometimes, the device behaves correctly and charges to 100% without any problems, but when that problem happens it gets so irritating and annoying, and I am totally confused about it coz I can't make out a logical explanation to why this keeps happening.. I didn't install/uninstall any new programs.
Do you guys know anything about that problem??
Thanks ahead for your replies..
P.S: here's my ROM info:
ROM version: 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/14/2005
Radio version: 1.11.00
does the old battery also behaves like that?

No, the old battery never behaved like that.. It's a new problem. Anyway, I discarded the old battery so I can't tell if it behaves the same or not.
As I'm writing right now, the phone is connected to the laptop via USB cable, the LED is yellow and the "Power" menu shows 0% battery and "Charging" status! It's been like that for almost 30 mins now! I have no idea what's going on, the phone appears to be charging but the power meter indicates 0%!!
Could it be something with the charging circuitry??
Sound like a typical hardware problem.

It could be. However, the meter has been behaving normally for 2 weeks now. And I'm linking the problem to low temperatures. Apparently, the new battery is of poor quality, so when the ambient temps. go below 12C the metering circuit starts showing false values.
I'll keep monitoring the problem and report if anything new happens.
Thanks all for your help.
i'm not sure but here in New Delhi when the temperaures have come down to almost zero, my device sometimes starts behaving like this but it corrects itself in about 5 seconds.and the battery is what was bundles with it and has been working perfectly from past 2 years.
I've got a HTC TyTN (hermes) and i have this problem: my battery wears off in maximum 3 hours after i fully charge it. all the connections are turned off, except for the phone function. also, while it's charging, no matter if it's charging through the usb or the AC charger, the battery gets very hot. PLEASE can anyone help? what could be causing this?
(i have the black satin normal rom, with the 1.43.00.00 radio version installed)
Edit/Delete Message
I haven't upgraded or messed with my phone in ages, but lately I have been having a very similar issue with my 8525.. using the same radio version. If I simply turn off the phone (leave PDA on) it lasts forever though. The battery even gets warm from so much drain -- if I put it nearby a speaker I can tell how much activity it is doing through the radio, which is way more than it used to do in the past.. I'm about to try 1.54 now to see if it helps...
so...did it help?
Ok, it is an old phone, but I like it a lot better than my Razr.
I have a battery problem I assume. The phone seems to turn off at random points, not long after I stop charging it. The phone works fine when charging, but when stop charging it it turns off with the batter at no lower than 85%, at least that's what the battery meter reads. I have ordered a replacement battery, but I was wondering if this sounds like a bettery problem, or worse. Anyone's help is going to be greatly appreciated. Also, when I try to turn it on after it shuts off on me, it goes trough the loading screen, to the windows screen and then shuts off, and starts over again.

I just got finished updating my 8125 that had similar concerns with hibernate mode and constant load and reload problems.
See the thread for need help, upgrading to ipl/spl 2.26 Tmobile seems to have helped, read the thread and look for zabardast_1 comments. Good luck, the instructions are clear and concise.
i can't find it. could you send me the link?
need help htc 8125 (Multi-page thread 1 2 3) try this
it's fried i think. the screen only flashes the three striped screen.
YES! it all seems to be a battery problem,it doesn't retain or have enough juice to complete the loading of OS,Get a new battery or borrow a battery from a friend to confirm if its due to weak/dead battery.
As long as it gets into Bootloaders (RGB) screen, nothing is fried, its ok,a G3 phones never dies like this, don't worry.Download official cingular rom from the link below and get the phone in Bootloaders and flash it,it'll start to work
http://download.america.htc.com/RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1.exe
But,first,be sure of the battery!
cool. will a new battery charge when it's on the red green blue screen? i mean, once i put the new battery in, it will chatge and i can complete the update?
In last few weeks when I use HD2 on charging, it freezes.
When battery is full and unplugged from charger, I can use it normaly without freezing. Device freezes when start gps program.
The same problem is in the Winmo and Android.
I have Energy ROM and Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14
any ideas?
Sounds like overheating CPU BGA issue.
Try cooling device while charging with fan/aircon & if problem goes away then it certainly points to the above.
another option is perhaps a radio change & perhaps a ROM/HSPL flash to eliminate firmware glitches if radio alone makes no difference.
