PM10A No GSM on bootup :(

Hi people.
I have an ImateJam PM10A that i require help with.
On boot up i notice it says "no GSM" D.1.12.00 WWE
The sys info i get from device information is:
ROM Version 1.12.00 WWE
ROM Date 05/28/05
Radio version BLANK
Ext rom version 1.12.119 WWE
As a result no GSM whatsoever.

did you do anything to your jam before this happened? i dont know too much about this stuff but i would say reinstall the rom, heres what clubimate has to say about pm10a rom upgrades:
If the model number indicates PM10A, then the customer should upgrade with the Generic Worldwide English ROM Build. You will not be able to install the North American JAM (850) ROM. This WWE build does not include the connection settings for the US operators found in the North American build, though these are all available to download separately from club i-mate™.

Ur r seeing no GSM on boot because radio is missing,meaning no phone,just the PDA...
U just have to reflash radio,and for doing that:
go to the ftp from here,download MAupgradeUt_noID.exe,and a radio ROM of ur liking(1.12 is preferable,it is radio_.nbf file),put the 2 files in 1 folder,remember to also put RUU.dll in it,enter ur phone in bootloader mode by pressing power button,camera and reset(i guess,it's been a while since I have'nt reflashed a Magician :wink:,anyway make sure by reading the wiki page from here),then run MAupgradeUt_noID.exe,and follow on screen procedures...

Tried an upgrade to the latest UK wwe full image using MAupgradeUt_noID.exe and also the latest radio rom.
whilst the upgrades complete ok the radio version and protocol version still remain blank??
any ideas on what the generic world wide flash file is called and i will give it a go.

Hi, what happen ur imatejam before, In my experience, last time due to I updated the the firmware via SD method, finally after boot same as ur metioned situation. I bring it to service center, service cneter said that is mainboard problem, and they replaced a new mainboard for my O2 mini(imatejam) and upgrade the boot loader to v1.02. Try bring it to service centre to checking it.

Is there any rom update available for my device?
Also, there is a significant lag when I press click to take photo. Is there any way of improving/fixing this.
I would also like to know how to uninstall programs like Voice dialer and extended rom ?

Help to avoid problems in upgrade
I'm sorry , I know my question could be considered " another question made without a previous search .." but I spent some hours to try to understand without been able to summarize what is really the situation; so , please , take few second to read here:
a)I have a JAMin updated only one time from IMATE official site without any problem
b) actual rom is :
Rom Version: 2.13.9.23 WWE
Rom date : 2/23/06
Radio Version: 1_02.20.21
Protocol Version : 4.1.13.9
Ext. Rom Ver : 2.13.9.123
c) I consider my current configuration as "enough stable" and I use :
calender/contact/ IEexplorer/ilauncher/SBSH weather/pocket stocks/batterystatus(overclock to 286)/tomtom/spb backup/and a lot of other nice applications.
d)I do not want to spend a lot of time recovering critical configurations and/or soft/hard resetting the device many times ; I'm not so expert ( as this question confirm !) to manage rom problems on my device, I have to use also for work and I cannot have problems.
with this description , I would ask to the experts here what they suggest me to do in term of opportunity to upgrade and wich kind of risk could I take.
I'm ready to restart installation of described programs , but I would not manage it too many times...
last questions ; could I only obtain A2DP stereo bluetooth performance remaining with my current ROM situation ? are there other important improvement to take into account ??
As you can imagine , any comment / suggestion / etc is very aprreciated.

As far as the ROM goes, I had the same ROM as you and I switched to the Dopod ROM (see on my signature). I think it works better and faster than the iMate ROM. There is a new "official" Qtek ROM available now. It is suppose to be a good one too. Check the ftp site.

thanks to matterhorn , but I need to know what I have to do to install a rom not " imate" ; do I need particular software to do it? must I unlock or "prepare" my jamin to accept the rom you use , for example?

You definately have a Magician
There is no such thing as WM5/6 for Magician. The closest look-alike is the 2.03ROM from Taxist (which actually causes problems for some people)

It doesn't make sense you go try experimenting with new ROMs, then end up with a 'bricked' Magicain. If you are good with JTAGs, then by all means...

I think it'd be better just sticking with original ROMs.
If you want something new, why now use a 'kitchen' to cook up your own custom ROM?

I have upgraded succesfully my QTek 9090 BA to WM6 following the wiki, have some issues with WiFi and would like to upgrade my ROM...I guess...I'm new on this PDA world so still confused with terms.

So for what I understand:

Extended Rom version: 1.12.00
Radio Version: 4
Is this correct?
If so, I don't understand if this: BA_WWE_BP_12200_169_10602_SHIP.exe would be good for me...

The Devicedata file was need in the old days (WM2003).
Now on WM6 (and WM5) the file does not matter or make much sence.
BA_WWE_BP_12200_169_10602_SHIP.exe
This is a 2003 rom with the rom vesion of 1.22 (making it old even for WM2003 as 1.4 was the last I can remember), the Radio is 1.602 (which is even older than your 1.12 (1.15 is the current one))
Best bet for you is the WM6 rom and up your radio to 1.15 (wiki will tell you how).

Hi! and really thanks! It confuses me how 1.6 can be older than 1.15...?? Anyway, I updated to Radio rom 1.15, however reading more I found that it has nothing to do with WiFi...
Now, I seems to be understanding more and more about the Roms, extendend roms and radio roms with TypeI and II.
I have been looking at the FTP site and what I still need to understand is what Rom to use...how do you difference those codes? I'm using rar 20226...is this ok? Any newer ROM or more stable?
And what defines the WiFi driver? The ROM itself? I have the problem that my WiFi signal is very poor...

There are a few thiings that are wrong with the BA as it is end of life and if it was not for XDA-Devlopers it would be dead.
Wifi has its issues there is a work around and that has something to do with the way you start it. (to be honest I can't remember what you have to do but search will help)
Bluetooth is the other know issue, if you don't want to make friends then the best way to do this is post a "My Bluetooth does not work thread". That a low post count will get you flammed at big time.
The Type I and type II roms were based on the format of the roms and the tools we used about 3 years ago. Some smart guy worked out you could bypass this whole porcess (the checking of the country code) by using a flash program form some other HTC device.
So by the time WM5 came out then the "on id exe" solved that issue and we have been using it ever since.
The radio you talking about is 1.06, if you want to look at some of the roms we had found and posted on the FTP (unitll M$ got us to close it) then try this link.

Extra rom was a carrier based issue (wiki has a whole section on it) however WM5 and WM6 did not use the same system so the space was reused for the rom (is one of the steps in the upgrade process).
As for the best rom, this is up to you.
Xplode used be active and now its Sun_dream.

Hi Im new on here and so far the information I have found has been first class... thanks to all of you
I bought a mda vario off ebay and it had a few problems like wait 15 seconds to access sim so following threads on this forum I managed to unlock it and do an update I think.
it was showing at boot up ipl 1.06, spl1.06 and now shows ipl 3.08 and spl 3.08 and os 3.8.2.1
ok so i updated using a link from a tmobile site....
my question is ..this the latest update and how can i de brand it from showing tmobile (pink doesnt suit me)lol ...im on orange for my sins and cant seem to get it to access wap or internet or answer phone without dialing in 123 manually.
It keeps trying to connect to tmobile services and answer phone
also I want to try to get tom tom on it as i find the co pilot pretty naff can anyone advise me the correct version of TT i need for the vario
and yes I have spent many hours searching and reading the posts but cant seem to find the exact info i need... so I thought i would ask.

Oficially yes!!!!
But here we have on our machines Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 and you have only WM5 with Aku3 (AKA: You have Windows XP service pack 3, and we have Windows Vista Bussines edition)
So you're not Updated at all
And 3.-

when I said de brand I meant remove the t mobile logos and dial pad as i have it now unlocked to any network I just hate seeing Tmobile every time you switch on and use dial pad for making calls.

Well,your present working rom is official T-mobile wm5 rom,so it'll display T-mobile sp;ash screens,but if you are only interested to replace the Splash screen only,then there are very cool Splash screens available here in this forum,download them and flash it.
Well,if you want to upgrade your phone to latest wm6.1 rom and you say your phone is CID unlocked then download the latest custom build wm6.1 rom from here,this forum and flash it,it'll automatically change all the Splash screens.
