Tomtom 6.2 & gprs/3g disconnect - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I'm using Tomtom 6.2 on my T-Mobile MDA Vario II, which incidentally is working much better than 6.0 did (fewer lockups, faster performance), and occasionally have a problem when gprs gets disconnected while tomtom is logged onto the plus service. It produces a baloon message saying something about dialup failed. I then have to press a tiny ok button on screen for tomtom to continue.
I don't know how to make the Tytn ignore that event. I used to get a similar baloon message when gprs/3g connects which I stopped by turning off 'display message on screen' and 'play sound' for the 'connection established/disconnected' events in sounds & notifications.
Is the Tytn trying to use some sort of dial-up fallback when gprs/3g disconnects? If so how do I stop it from trying?
Thanks
Mike

I'm using Tomtom 6.03, not 6.2 as previously posted.
I still get this issue with the baloon message. Does anyone else see this, and is there a solution? It's difficult to press the tiny 'dismiss' button when the car is moving.
Other than turning off Tomtom traffic update, I don't know of any way of preventing Wm5 from displaying the error message when a gprs connection is lost.

WM2003 GPRS Connect/Disconnect Question

Hey all, thanks to all your hard work I was rather easily able to upgrade to WM2003 4.00.11 and RS 6.24 (Tmobile). Many, many thanks to everyone who worked on the Kitchens.
So I'm running RS 6.24 and it's got the "always on GPRS" feature. Seems to be working great on my XDA...but how do I end a connection?
I connected to GPRS last night as I setup email on the device, and it still hasn't disconnected since. I've placed calls, sent SMS, turned the device off, but I'm still connected. I've done everything except soft reset, which I'm sure will disconnect but that's not really the answer I'm looking for.
This morning I found it still connected to GPRS, but I cannot receive email or browse the web. If I could quickly disconnect and reconnect to GPRS I think I would be OK.
WM2003 has the neat "tap on phone indicator", "tap connect" quick connect feature, but a similar "tap disconnect" option would be much appreiciated.
PS - I saw the XDA2 at the Windows Mobile event in NYC on Wednesday. One word...DROOL.
RE: WM2003 GPRS Connect/Disconnect
Holding the red hardware "end" button down for 4-5 seconds will disconnect your GPRS session. Alternatively, there are some great tools like SPB Software's GPRS Monitor that provide an easy connect/monitor bandwidth/disconnect functionality.

Strange Message while Sync

I get a message when XDAII is on the cradle that says "UDP to TCP proxy".
Does anyone know what it means?
Also, I get a strange icon to the left of the signal indicator that resembles a telephone handset within a circle with an "x" on it....don't know what that is either.
Please advise!!
Check your firewall settings. ActiveSynch has issues when connecting and you will get similar messages.

TomTom GPRS connection

I have just upgraded to an XDA Trion (Hermes) and I have got TomTom (5.21) working without too much trouble. However, as with my old Wizard my push email GPRS connection is almost always connected and TT Traffic doesn't like it. It wants a 'vanilla' GPRS connection. I could switch this manually on the Wizard (although it was a PITA), but on the Trion, TT just refuses to connect.
Is there anyway of forcing TT to use the vanilla GPRS connection ?
BTW, The GPRS connection takes an age to set up. E.g. in POP3 email, it just sits there for 90 seconds connecting before the data transfer starts.
Confused, Leeds, UK.
Hmmmm
After spending most of the day trying to connect to Tomtom services and emailing them (in vain) I got through to them on the phone <shock>
It was pretty fruitless, but it did make me look at my push email schedule and I set it down a notch to every 5 mins instead of instant, which is kind of defeating the point, but...
Soon as I did that Tomtom Plus connected. I can get traffic on the move. I can get my email in seconds.
A compromise, but at least things are coexisting...for now.
Hope that helps.
I have a tomtom go510, it worked before the att rom update, now it says the phone has no data connection. HELP
Ooer
Sorry I know nothing about TT Go's. Have you posted a new topic in the forum ? I think you'll get more hits that way.
Sorry, Dave.
Dave,
I have exactly the same problem with Tomtom traffic, could you tell me how to change my push settings - or even delete them - as I don't use push email on my tytn, having traffic back would be great.
Paul
The issue on conecting the tomtom go seems to be the removal of DUN on AKU3 bluetooth, there is a cab file which gives you the functionality back as listed eleswhere on this forum (WM6_BT_DUN.cab)

Annoying 'No modem at remote address' Popup

Hi all,
I currently have an Exec running Crossbow (but this problem predates back to when it was running the stock original ROM)..
I use TomTom a lot on my Exec, I also use a lot of web based services. When travelling around I get a wierd bug in the GPRS / UTMS modem code, the modem will disconnect and is unable to reconnect to GPRS / UTMS with a warning similar to "No Modem at remote address", this is displayed as a popup that you have to click "Dismiss" on, this creates 2 problems:
1. I cannot reconnect to the Internet via GPRS unless I disable phone (enable flight mode) OR reboot my Exec
2. When trying to use TomTom and that popup occurs, it messes up TomTom, I can click dismiss but it repeatedly pops up every minute making navigation impossible (because I have to either quit TomTom and disable/enable phone, or I have to reboot Exec).
Does anyone know how to solve either of these problems? I would prefer to have it so that the Exec silently reconnects and keeps retrying, and if it can't connect it should restart GPRS module.
Thankyou,
*BUMP* Please can someone respond to how to solve this please?

TomTom 720 and icon problems

Hi there
I have just upgraded to a Touch Dual, and have a couple of problems. Firstly I cannot get a data connection with my TomTom 720 - I have installed the DUN patch, but cannot get it to recognise my data settings. I am on Orange (UK)- has anyone got a connection to work? And if so, what are the data settings?
Interestingly I am getting intermittent problems connecting to my Parrott 3200 hands free kit -seem to be worse with the DUN patch instaLLED. Is this possible?
Another possible issue is that I occasionally have a "12#" icon appearing in tye top left of the screen, accompanied by a blank notification. Any ideas what this might be? Serems to go away after a bit - and I can't find a reference to it in the manual.
Thanks,
Jon
I have the same TomTom issue with a 920T. I installed the DUN cab and then couldn't get past the connection settings wizard on the TomTom. The DUN pack did cause some weirdness with GPRS/3G connections and my Jawbone headset - so I uninstalled DUN as TT didn't work.
People have TomTom data connection working and I think the answer is buried somewhere in these forums. WHAT WE REALLY NEED IS... a sticky with a definitive "HowTo: Get TomTom data connections working on WM6".
I'm currently using a c600 phone and it works fine for TT.
As far as your blank notification issue - this is a bug and everyone has it. It happens when you first start the phone. If you want to get rid of it, you need to Start->Settings->Personal. Then Lock->Menu->Cancel. I think the 12# disappears too but cant remember.
