Hi,
I have one of 6 P4350's that go into a "hibernation" mode after being idle for about an hour or so. If the phone is called, the caller will hear it ringing, but the handset does not ring. If the power button is depressed or the slider opened during the ringing, the device will start to ring.
When it is this mode, it will not accept SMS or give a missed calls notification.
Has any had any similar experiences?
Thanks
What do you mean by you have 1 of 6? My 4350 goes into a hibernation mode; they all should.
Anyways have you tried to hardreset it?
We have 6 4350s and I own one, but all 6 give the same problem. I agree that it should go into power save mode, but after being in this mode for about an hour it will not ring when called.
Yes, we have hard reset them with no success. After a hard reset, the device boots and then a customisation process runs. Is there any way to prevent this process from running?
So all 6 have the problem of not ringing when asleep? I find that very amazing that you have 6 devices that are not working correctly. Perhaps its a setting but I don't recall ever seem a setting of this nature on my phone. Do you know what ROM version you are running? Have you tried a different providers SIM in the phone?
Yep,
All six give the same problem. Strange thing is that they run 2 different ROM versions.
We got our provider to run some checks and they can "page" the phone from the switch and it responds, but yet will not ring. I will try a SIM from another provider and see if that solves the problem.
I seem to have the same problem on my new P4350.
After being idle for some time, for example when i get up in the morning, it doesnt receive incoming phone calls. And a hard reset did not help either.
Do you already know the solution to this problem?
The same with me... on WM6
The Solution
Well, it seems to work again.
But i don't really know how i solved it
It's one of three things:
1. I changed a setting which said to automatically switch of the device after three minutes or so.
2. After calling my telco provider they said that i should switch of my phone for at least 10 minutes each day so that the SIM card has up-to-date network information.
3. I installed a new SIM card, which was necessary because of a new subscription.
I think that the first solution did not really help, since i think that after i changed that the phone still didnt work a few times. Same for the second solution.
But after i installed the new SIM card, it has not happened once
"Knockin on wood"
Hope this can help some of you in solving this problem.

Hi,
On my XDAII (1.72) I sometimes experience a not responding phone/SMS application or radio stack.
People trying to call me are instantly redirected to the voicemail, and if I try to make eiter a call or send a text message, respectively the phone application is stalling or the SMS 'Send' button stays in the 'pressed' state.
Soft-resetting the phone or toggling the 'turn off radio' function re-establishes the radio.
Does anyone knows of a solution?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated and possibly rewarded with a 6-pack Heineken beer
weird, mines just done the same thing. I sent an sms and nothing. I was then taken to the phone screen and it said something like invalid sim something.
I'm wondering if the sim card is not locked in place. I was fiddling around with mine yesterday and maybe forgot to lock the sim card in place.
Just a thought but maybe worth checking
what radio version do you have ? I recently have the problem that when people call me, the ringtone goes for about 2 seconds, then restarts, etc.
Meanwhile I can do nothing ( green button don't work) . When the caller hangs up my phone returns to the normal state.
I use radio 1.18. Thinking of downgrading to 1.17 which people say is more stable.

Hello folks,
I have the same problem now for a week... It's driving me crazy... At
some point in time during the night or the day my Qtek2020 gets weird.
The result is that people trying to call me can't connect but to viocemail,
and I can't receive SMS. The only way I can see that I am having this
problem is that whenever I try to send a SMS I get a message "your SMS
cannot be sent", and if I try to make a call, the phone seems to dial out
normally the first second, but then the DIAL-button (which is color-less)
becomes green again...
Please, if someone knows what's wrong or if someone had the same
problem and solved without having to default the whole thing, please
let me know what is the solution.. It is really annoying, so I now have
to randomly reset my phone throughout the day.
PS: my battery is now on 4% so I have to look for my charger, and
after that I can supply with info about radio-version etc. I am running
WM2003 by the way, and I've had no problems like this before, this
unit has been working fine until now. I guess it's a sw-bug? And I
am also wondering if this problem occurs whenever I pass a place
with low signal.. hmm, it's so annoying..
Thanks for any help!
Fred
I've been having problems similar to the OP for 2-3 weeks now (found this thread in a search before posting). It's damned annoying, as it means you can't really trust your phone - am I meant to reset every morning, or more frequently? It seems an intermittent problem, in so far as I've been receiving and making calls as normal, and then you someone asks 'did you get my text?'. Gritting teeth, you call the phone from a landline to find that calls are going straight to voicemail. After a soft reset all missing texts are received immediately, and calls can again be received.
When in this state other PDA functions seem to work as normal. However, I suspect that the power display is "suspended" too. On performing a soft reset after experiencing this problem today, I immediately got "your battery is extremely low", whereas before the reset I recall it was around 50% (vBar image). As others have stated, one clue that not all is well is that sent texts do not get a "Message sent" confirmation.
I've been racking my brains as to what's changed recently on my PDA. For family reasons I've been making a lot more calls than usual, but I also added TomTom Navigator 5 a couple of months ago, and so have started intermittently using BT. But I don't use Sat Nav that frequently, and this problem seems more prevalent.
I'm conscious that I don't have latest and greatest ROM, etc, but am vary about attempting upgrades without strong reasons.
Has anyone seen and solved this issue?
Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the sim card? After a while dust and general wear and tear can mess them up. Also as it's obviously(?) a phone problem it might be beneficial to call your service provider for a new sim card.
That's what I had to do last week. Wish you the best anyway.
It can't have anything to with the sim card as I'm having this problem with a brand new sim card.
After a reboot it works fine for a few days (2-3 days)
Then the prblem starts. If you manually put it in standby mode (screen off) and make a call to the phone it rings. But if you wait till it goes to standby mode by itself it wil not ring. But it will show that you had a missed call when you resume the phone.
If you manually put it in standbye mode it starts doing i after while.
If you hard Reset the phone and resinstall everything, it works fine for a month or so then it starts doing the same thing as abovee.
Has anyone experienced this?
Is this a defective phone?
Thanks,
Phone not ringing when in standby
actually i've been having the same problem. every once in a while when i turn my phone back on from standby, i get all the text messages and missed calls that i got during the time it was in standby. i know this happened often with older versions of wm, but i thought it'd be fixed by now.
it happens about once a month, but it'd be nice to not miss important calls since i use it for work

This is really interesting. It seems to happen on some phones but not on some others. in out office it happens only on that one phone. I wonder if some of the phones are deffective.
I have the same problem with my phone and it is really frustrating. My phone still doesn't seem to ring or vibrate even sometimes when I bring it out of standby mode. The screen flips on and I get a notification...but no vibration or sound.
I frequently check to be sure that my notifications are set up in the settings properly. Weird.

We spoke to HTC about this. They said it's a known problem and they are
working on it.
Have you tried a hard reset? (hold Talk & End together and press the rest button. ****Be carefull this wipes out all data and reinstalls everything**).
We found out that for the time being rebooting soelves the problem for a few days. Hard reset solves the problem for a few weeks.
I have done a Hard Reset earlier with some success (for a few days). I find that a reboot typically solves the problem only for a couple of hours. I will eagerly await an HTC fix. haha.

Try disabling time synchronization under the phone options. That's seemed to have "fixed" my issue I experienced almost daily. I'm going on three weeks with no freezes.

Did that fix a freeze problem? Ours doesn't freeze. You can easily bring it out of standby. But while in standbye it doesn't ring. Are we talking about the same problem?
Thanks,

Maybe you're right, I experienced a slightly different issue. My phone wouldn't ring when someone called AND I couldn't bring it out of standby - it would not respond to a power button press. Disabling time synchronization fixed this and it now always rings.
I used to have this issue when I had my Touch checking my email once every hour. After a hard reset and changing to manual email sync the problem has been eliminated.
Keep in mind there is still an issue when the battery drops below 30% where the phone will not wake up for notifications. A charge and soft reset will fix this issue.
Hope this helps.
This is a know problem with the touch so far this is what has come about
hp://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=11805
HTC has mad the phone to shut down when the battery is at 30% from what people are saying to conserve the battery.
go to ppcgeeks.com on this issue, its all over the place
SD memory card is my theory
I think there is a problem with the memory cards on this phone. I don't know if it' a hardware problem or a wm software issue, but when you take the memory card out the phone is much more reliable. I've defintely had the missed call phenonema with the card in and I don't think it ever failed with it out. Many threads talk about flakey memory cards, Has anyone had this problem without the memory card in the phone? I've taken mine out because it is so poorly supported. Attachments cause a problem, activesync doesn't back up pictures from it, I've read other issues about programs that don't run from it!
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
I just bought my xv6900 2 days ago and i noticed that each time my phone goes idle as it goes to sleep and when someone text messages me i dont get a notification until i turn on the phone again with the button on top of the phone. and also sometimes i dont receive a call and when i next turn back on my phone it says missed call..
does anyone perhaps have the same problem or know whats wrong with my phone?
I have had the same problem and can't figure it out. I've done a hard reset and that fixes it for a bit, but no long term solution.
I have the following Software Installed:
SPB Mobile Shell
VIP Ringtone Manager
Shubaroo Group SMS
Check this out

i have yet to install any other apps that didnt come with the phone. and i read that forum link u gave me, it doesnt seem to be my battery because i know my battery was at 80% when this happend. its such a nice phone but this really pisses me off. wish there was a solution.
I am having the same issue. I called verzion and they know nothing about it. Everyone who has this please call. I really like this phone but if it doesnt work like a phone its useless.
I've seen same problem on a Sprint Touch so it's not specific to Verizon.
I had 2 Sprint Touch phones side by side and one would not wake up from suspend for an incoming text or phone call. The second Touch worked properly and they had the exact same configuration. No clue why some of the HTC Vogue's have this issue and others don't.
I would call Verizon and ask for a swap if they ignore your problem.
Well I did a hard reset and it worked great for few days! Now back to normal.. looks like it is going back to verizon. Not sure what to get though.
Got the same problem but some days it works fine and some days it doesnt. I througth i had to much stuff saved or downloaded on the phone but when i removed programs that i downloaded that i never used it didnt fix anything so im puzzled like everyone else here.
same issue
I have had mine for several months now, i just had to do a hard reset recently and my phone has done the same exact thing ever since. I thought maybe it was a problem with polling. I did notice this time I hard reset, verizon did not have me set my A key, instead they changed something on their side and had me do a 228 reprogram. So i wonder if something is being changed via this new method ( the guy told me he just figured out he could do it this way and not require me to set my akey ).
Hi guys,
i have a big issue concerning the incoming calls on my phone. When my Phone is in standby mode, there is a HUGE probability that i wont recieve any call. I have the device for 4 days now and today i tried to call myself many many times and i can say that the PDA revieves only about 50% of the calls i try to make. For the other 50% i only get to hear the Mailbox after waiting a while. A few minutes later i recieve a sms on my mobile that i had a missed call on the mailbox. So I think this crap cell phone does turn the GSM power too low while in standy mode. While not being in standby mode i can recieve as good as every incoming call. Do you know if there is a way to adjust the GSM signal strength?
Actually the phone suits my needs quite well besides of that issue, so actually i'd rather like to fix that issue instead of returning that phone to the reseller
PS: I m on a 1800 GSM network and didnt make changes to the ROM.
HI man
no body answer my post tell now i have same
problem

Try a hard reset and see if that solves the problem.
It's common problem of Eten X600, Eten X650 and Eten X610
I have in hands Eten X650 some time ago - it does not recognize my SIM card at all. just "No SIM" on today screen. with another SIM card it start to skip calls.
Also a lot of users have this problem with GSM.

Hi there,
I have this strange problem with my HTC Elf. The problem existed with the original ROM (5.0) and after my upgrade to 6.5 as well.
It started once a Month, but now it's twice a day.
If i receive or make a call, receive or send a SMS the device just shuts down immediately. (like a hard reset).
The device then automatically starts up, i get the "Smart mobility" screen and then it starts over again. The boot cycle runs endless, until i remove the battery and start again. Sometimes i need to remove/replace the battery 3 or 4 times to get it booting up again. (Doing this booting drains a lot of battery power)
If i remove the SIM Card, everything works fine for hours and booting isn't a problem at all. So I believe accessing the SIM Card somehow craps the device out. The boot-cycle seems to happen in the last stage of booting, when the device first tries to access the SIM card. (That's something i have to suspect, cause there is no way to log the booting).
I don't believe that it's connected to the ROM Upgrade to 6.5 i did, as the problem happened in 5.0 as well... (btw. everything is much faster and more light-weight since the 6.5 upgrade. It's just great.)
Here are my questions:
- Is there something, I could log the boot process, to see what's the last action when it starts over again?
- Is there something like an event log in windows, where I see the last action or even failure / exception, before the device restarts while doing a call / writing an SMS?
- Did anyone see this happen before?
Thanks for any input!
Hi
Have you tried to change the Sim card or use another one just in case the sim is the problem?
Hi Tito,
I plan to swap SIM's next weekend. But i don't get how a SIM can crash the whole thing. I would understand getting errors like "Can't read SIM" but auto-resetting the whole device?
Anyhow, I'll post an update after trying another SIM. The whole thing is, that it's not reproducible by a specific action one could take. So if the device keeps up even for 2 days with a spare SIM - that doesn't mean the SIM's chip is the problem. Just an indication...
Thanks,
mc
Hi
Please do post the result
I had the same problem (endless reboot) on my Elf. I solved it by replacing the battery.
Hi,
well it's like always. If you need the problem, you cannot reproduce it.
The device wasn't crashing even once on the weekend.. Either with my own SIM or with another one.
The battery thing is interesting. As soon, as the problems start reoccurring, I've got now a spare SIM card to test. If this fails, I'm able to test with another battery in march.
I'll post any results.
thanks,
mc
I have the same problem...and also struggles to find a signal. Did you solve the problem yet?
same problem
I have the same problem and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well, the thing is i upgraded to the HD2 and didn't use my elf pretty much lately.
I changed my provider and got a new SIM but that didn't solve the issue. So I can exclude the fault being in the ROM or the SIM card.
When the elf was crashing I couldn't start it up. It was booting, and as soon as it tried to register itself in the Network, it crashed again. However, when connecting it to a power source (charger or pc) and booting it up, it went fine through and was able to register in the network.
That brings me to the idea, the even if the battery is full at 100% it might have a flaw and doesn't bring enough energy, when the device is scanning for the available networks.
So next time, I'm in china, I'll get a new battery pack for my elf - however, it's no more that important as my HD2 is running pretty fine.
Hope it's something which can help you.
cheers,
mc
