M3100 Incoming call problems - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have just recently bought a M3100 (second hand) and am having some problems receiving incoming calls.
Things I have done:
1. The phone was locked to Orange, so I ran the superb tools on this site to SIM & CID unlock the phone, inserted my T-Mobile SIM and all seemed OK.
The phone working for about a day on incoming and out going calls fine, I then started to add various software I have used in the past (magic button, pocket infomant, ewallet, sprite backup etc). I then discovered I could not get any incoming calls, but could make outgoing calls OK.
2. I then decided to update the ROM to the latest Orange ROM from the orange website (not knowing if the previous owner of the phone had modified something). This came up with an error and hence used Extract NBH, Customer RUU as per previos posts on this site which all seemed to work OK.
Just for information when I orginally tried to upgrade the ROM, the boot screen said SPL 1.4 olipro ?
3. Even with this new ROM (phone sill unlocked), the incoming calls don't seem to work very often.
I am a newbie to all this, so is this problem due to the radio software, or have I just got a faulty phone ?
Thanks.

You have read the mrvanx guide I take it, if not click it on my signature. Have you installed the latest hard SPl v7? and what radio version are you using, because each time you upgrade the rom the radio does not change and you need to upgrade this seperately. I need more info.

Site should be back on soon, best to wait. The radio version you have is not the newest but should be ok. Try a hard reset while you are waiting to see if this helps.

strange behavior of wizard

hello, i've got problem with network or gsm modul or also with soft,
i have updateg radio from 1.12.10 to 1.13.10 because i thought that earlier ver had a bug and my phone lost net due this. With new radio rom it has lost net 3 times during one day yet. Is there someone who knows how to resolve this problem it's become stressfull for me... grrrr
<edit>
i found somethig more, after it has lost net it looks like fine and you can't see any diferences (there is still some bars indicates network range, led is blinking) but you can't perform any connections... phone also is not able to answer call
i'am traying to find when it hapen or after what but help me please
<edited>
BR
Rafal
Please tell us your make of wizard and the rom, maybe a whole rom upgrade will solve your problems.
hi!,
my wizard it's a mda from era (polish t mobile)
ver 1.6.2.8 PLK
date 11/1/05
radio 1.13.10
protocol 4.0.13.24
extend 1.6.2.116
and one thing more, after ended gprs connection i can see restart of gsm, bars are blinking and it log on to net again without requesting pin code, but the problem is i can't make call and answer after soft reset everything backs good
Can suggest using a more up to date rom, not sure if there is a newer PLK rom, but what about a WWE rom?
ok i'll try this but let me know if i can find it on XDA ftp? and which one is it
i have got this phone 2 weeks ago and i still try to lern sth new about it
merci beacoup for Your help
Try the polish t-mobile web site first to see if they have any updated plk roms.
If not most mda users here are using qtek rom ftp://xda:[email protected]_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
Download above rom, user name xda password xda
Backup all important information as everything will be lost.
Unlock device - super cid is best get unlocker from here and follow instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33796
After unlocking flash device with above rom via activesync
Hope that helps
The behaviour of disconnecting from the network and reconnecting without asking for PIN sounds familiar to me.
I think it is caused by bad connections to the SIM.
I have a dual sim and afterhaving modified it too much i my sims did not make good contact. It occurred more than once that my phone switched sims without me having 'said'to do so (switchin sims is done by powering off/on radio wich looks a bit the same to the dual sim adapter as fawlty contacts).
Advice; clean the contacts of both sim and phone before you upgrade (although I can recommend an upgrade to aku 2 roms)
i had upgrated to this one - prodigy......WWE_ship from xda ftp and now i'm waiting for problems maybe there will be no problems ...
big thanks to Those of You that answer my questions ... thx

MDA II - No Service

Hi, i recently got this MDA II from a friend and finally succeeded in updating it to WM5 and ROM Version 1.72xxxxx T-Mobile (can't remember all the Numbers).
It work's perfectly for everything i wanted it for (Navi, etc.), except for phone calls. After entering the PIN it just says: Searching or No Service.
I tried a SIM from T-Mobile Austria (from where the MDA comes), and also one from Hutchinson Austria (3) - Same Prob. I also tried to unlock it with the unlock tool located on this frorum. I got no error but it told me that the phone already seems to be unlocked.
It's not a big deal for me because i never intended to use it as a phone replacement, but somehow it's bothering me a bit.
I don't know if the ROM upgrade from 1.6xxx to 1.72xxx is the Problem. To tell the true i don't even know from where I got this newer ROM. The only thing i know it was not from T-Mobile Austria.
I already found a Version from T-Mobile Austria (RUU16008GER_TMobile), but this Version is very old and I don't know if it's worth the risk of downgrading.
Can someone please give me an advice on what to do?
Thanks in advance
first of all then 1.66 and 1.72 are not wm5 roms at all they are just the last offical roms for these devices and they are wm2003 roms
second then they are roms not radiostacks (radiostacks are the software for the gsm module)
http://www.buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=132&func=select&id=26
list of various radeostacks
personaly i use 1.19
Thank you, as you can see i'm a total newbee to this topic.
Is there somwhere a detailed manual for upgrading the radiostacks?
HimaUpgradeUt.exe
upgrade
rom if nk.nbf is present in the dir
and
radiostack if Radio_.nbf is present in the dir
so if you want to upgrade the radiostack along with the rom
one just make sure both of the files are present in the dir
if one wish to upgrade 1 of the 2 simply remove the other nbf file
same deal with extended rom
Thank you
Ok, i tried the 1.19 Radio Stack together with the Hima_-_Helmi_AKU3.5_ROM_SP2 ROM.
The update progress proceeded fine but i still have the same problem.
edit: Wow after 5 Minutes i've got a connection with A1 (right now i'm trying a Hutschinson SIM witch connects via GPRS automatically to A1)
Ok, i tried Roms Stack 1.19, 1.17 and 1.08.
On some certain locations i get a signal, but in general the signal is very poor.
I'm not shure but maybe the couse of the problem is the phones hardware itself, and not the software?
maybe
dont know about where you live but here i dont have too many issues
but the htc phones i had have in general had a poor signal then nokia and the likes
and poor conversation quality
you could try giving other sim cards a go as some older sims have had issues with htc phones in the past
I just wanted to inform everyone that you where right (again ).
Today i tried a newer Prepaid SIM from A1.
Now i get a full Signal from everywere in my house.

Softbank X01HT questions..

Hi all, I've received a really deal good for a Softbank X01HT. I was wondering if like the other Hermes, the only difference in this unit is the button layout and OS language. If I upgrade to any other Hermes ROM will it function like a regular Hermes? Thank you for replies.
Yes, basically it will work as long as you have your device SIM / CID unlocked.
I say 'basically' because of I found some incompatibilities on my HERMES (a AT&T 8525). It does not accept the German T-Mobile ROM and also not the ORANGE CH. Other than that I did not get any problems.
You might wanna read the HERMES UPGRADE sections in the WIKI first? That should get you started!
Thanks for your quick reply Junner, I appreciate it
Another question has arisen; the unit I'm getting is in english language, so presumably a different ROM has been flashed to it. Does this mean that the phone is now SIM unlocked? Or does Softbank have english versions of their phones as well? Mine will be a white one, not sure when it was manufactured.
Hello,
If its already in English then chances are that it was flashed with a WM5 English ROM. If you're lucky, then the phone could be SIM unlocked, but ROMs can be flashed if the phone is Super CIDed... The white edition models were made after Softbank issued an update for all their phones..
My bet is that your phone is Super CIDed.. but heck, you'll never know these days, you could get lucky and have it SIM unlocked!
Softbank do have english versions of their phones, but the X01HT is just one of their exceptions...
I'm using the Black X01HT flashed with a WM6 Rom.. and its great! You won't be dissapointed!
Hey nesy, thanks for the heads up. I've got the phone in my hands, it works great. It's been flashed with some version of WM6, not sure which flavour. And it's goot IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.40.Olipro. My guess is that this was unlocked by imei-check, and it must be SuperCID too. Will be sure once I probe the internals with mtty. My only concern now is whether if I'm able to upgrade the radio, since I've read reports of some people being unable to flash over radio 1.14.something.
Is there really a downside to being stuck at radio 1.14 found in the Softbank phones? If so, what are they? Improved reception? stability?
well my softbank phone was at radio 1.14, I was able to upgrade it without any problems to 1.50.... you dont really have to upgrade, but I found that any version above 1.2 had better battery life...
I have a X01 that I just bought with a Chinese ROM (I am currently in China) and it was already unlocked. I had no problems putting an English Rom on. Be sure to change the keyboard layout to Japanese, I had mine set to Chinese for a while and 2 buttons were different.
Question: What are the advantages to upgrading the radio? Can anyone provide a link that explains how to upgrade / advantages to upgrading?

I also just upgraded to 1.41... I use the method that temporarily Super-Cids it. But dont ask me how that works because I have no idea.
Could you link me or PM me with how you did that? All the wikis stated that I can't upgrade the radio to anything else because of the bootloader. And I tried it too, the radio ROM gets flashed, but upon reboot, the same old version number is shown. Thanks in advance.

Hey dude, there are many advantages to upgrading the radio.. especially if you're still at 1.14... For instance, in Japan and China, the networks are UMTS here... although radio 1.14 gives satisfactory reception, higher versions improve this as well as enabling HSDPA (higher 3G download speeds) . The battery management is improved, and currently I'm using radio version 1.48 (1.50 was a battery sucker when using WM6)
you should read this before upgrading the radio:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
and read under 'Upgrading and Cooking'
and to flash the radio you HAVE to install Hard SPL.. this is a modified bootloader for the hermes.. and also it prevents it from bricking when you upgrade the ROM or radio.
Get it and the guide here:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27
Finally,
Go here:http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
and choose what Extracted Radio ROM that you want to install. Download it, run the EXE file and run through the program wizard.
After the radio has been uploaded to your device, it should reboot and you'll hopefully see some improvement!
Also another thing, be sure to search the forums, there are many great guides here, much better than my attempt
Hopefully that answers your question Pasan, you could try to do the method mentioned above by courtlandre which is to temporarily SuperCID it, but I didn't use that, i ended up unlocking my phone and SuperCID'ed it... so that my upgrade process will always be stress-free

I am using SPL 1.10 I think (wiki or a sticky will have instructions on how to install this).
Then I just downloaded the radio rom and installed it. Worked fine with no problems.
Thanks neshyd, I once tried upgrading to HardSPL 2.30 but it didn't work, upon reboot it was still on 1.40.olipro. This phone was unlocked by the imei-check people and they may have done something to prevent future SPL upgrades.

ty ! that means that my phone isnt stuck but just a lack of the radio-rom.!
Just one comment: did you try to make a soft reset? RadioROM does not show when you first put battery in. You need to turn it on and then, after 5-10s make a soft-reset - radio rom should show up.
Also, if your device is locked to another operator, it will seen as if the BA could not access network, but in fact in the SIM lock problem.
At least, that's what happened to me.

Couple of questions (SDHC and WM6 upgrade)

Guys, first of all, thanks for the forums, this is great.
I got my hands on a pre-production herald unit and I have a couple of questions. First of all, here is what I see when I soft-reset:
IPL 3.80.001
SPL 3.80.001
GSM 02.69.90
OS 3.80.0.0
It's unbranded and the serial number starts with TY so HTC's e-club doesn't want to accept it ... here are my questions:
1. Can I CID unlock it and use the latest WM6 roms?
2. I put a 6GB microSD card in there and it'll only see 1.7GB. If I use the sdhc.77 cab file, it works for a while, and eventually stops workings (files disapear). I soft reset, and everything comes back to normal for a couple of minutes.
Can someone help me out?
Well id HTC e-club does not accept your serial number, is because your herald is branded with a phone provider's rom! I had that problem too.
When you start up your phone, doyou see your phone provider's company name?
That's a giveaway that it is cid locked!
Upgrading to wm6 does not cid UNlock your device! Everyone is waiting for the HARD-SPL to really work.
But untill then, the easiest way to free yourse;f from wm5, is to install touch-it 1.1 and then you have a nice wm6 rom on your herald.
thanks for the reply. No, it's not branded at all ... like I said, it's preproduction unit.
Is my radio version new enough for me to upgrade? Will the phone still work afterwards?
yes, it is!
