Reset - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

One of my friends gave me his MDA and it has a password on it. Is there a way to reset the phone?

Read the wiki and see how to do a hard reset. The other option is just go to the original provider's website and download the latest rom and flash it.
Of course if they were really a friend, you could contact them and ask them for the password

Just hard-reset it. Press the soft keys+soft reset simuntaneouly and you can then commit a hard reset

You probably have the OLD version of JWright's ROM where it is a KNOWN BUG that the password screen would just pop-up for no reason. If that is the only problem you have and would like to keep that ROM. Follow what KDSKamal suggested and Hard Reset your Universal. To bypass the bug, just set a password. If you don't want to be bothered by the password, set to to come up after 24 hours. In that way the only time the password would come out is after a soft reset. Now since you already plugged-in a password, even if the bug suddenly reactives the password screen, you already have a code to unlock it.

thanks for your response...
i did it finally...
but i m a total noob...
could anyone kindly tell me how to upgrade it to WM6 and where to download the rom please?
thanks a million....
what if the password was set by the previous owner?
and what if you just bought a stollen PDA?

Then I would imagine that the previous owner would have reported it missing and I guess the next question will be "My phone isn't working!" =)
i help it's not a stolen phone....
but i got it with original box and all accessories...and the IMEI with the phone is matching the one on the box....
so i guess it's legit....
Then you're probably right, not a stolen phone.
Do the hard reset, become familiar with flashing the ROM by using the latest official ROM for your device, then you can try the WM6 unofficial ones, or even Linux. Better to know how to flash the device with the right image than to go straight for something that might not work the way youo expect or the way you want.
Good luck!
sorry to ask stupid questions again...
i tried O2 website but i don't see anywhere i could download the lastest rom...
i only see roms in this forum...like the ones from Darkforce....
and...is there anyway to back up the current rom that i have so i could try to flash it to the unoffical ones????
i really wanna try WM6...
sorry for being such a noob....
thanks again
plus....i saw some post saying flash/download the radio rom...but nowhere it said what it's for.....
is it really needed?
Try the FTP site (see the wiki for more info) for the radio roms etc, and the search function should help you find many of the custom roms for WM6y or AKU3 etc.
If you want O2's "latest and greatest" ROM (which is now very old) go to http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecSoftwareDownload.html

What is being installed, and how to STOP it?

After formating my athena it automatically starts to install something!
Does anyone know what it installs and if it is possible to stop it from doing that?
I want to make a new fresh installation and only install programs that I like and want!
I have the original WM6 rom!
Please help!
I think you are seeing the device initialization, something that HTC has inserted into the ROM installation process. Not something you want to stop if you want the drivers so everything works.
It is the Extended ROM - basically all the customisation your carrier installs.
But why on earth use a standard ROM rather than an AP one?

AP one?
I am not familiar with that, what is it?
Thanks in advance!
AP = Athena Project
A group of very clever people have created ROMS for the Athena with all the good biots and none of the bad bits.
The latest version is 3.0 Dual at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346221
But 4.0 is finished and will be released when the unlocker is ready.
Thank you so much!

If I install the AP 3 Rom, will I void my warranty?
yes, because you have to use olipro's unlocker first so your device can be super CID
edit: your original question - i think but im not for sure be if you stick the stylus in the back and and do a soft reset right before the customizations start then next time your phone loads it wont load that stuff but there is some stuff in there you might want.

Quite Correct! A soft reset during the three second warning will bypass the customizations. No harm in trying it without the customizations, then do a hard reset and let them install. If you don't need any of the extras, you can hard reset again and bypass again with the soft reset.

Yes - although you can flash back to an official ROM your device will have to be super CID - but most operators don't notice the super CID and people have claimed off their warranty successfully. One person recently got their device back from T-Mob and it was CID locked again!

You need to call T-mobile and request the Unlock code by giving them you IME or just by it online from some trusted source ~20$.

Haha, no!
Can you get into recovery? turn the phone off then hold down the power + home button. If you can, just do a factory reset and see if it helps. What did you do before the problem started?
i was trying a mod

That still doesn't answer the question. What were you trying to do (ex. flashing a rom, flashing spl, etc.....) If you cant get into recovery or bootloader you have a paperweight.

What rom? Did it involve installing a new SPL?
was trying a CyanogenMod. After I turned it on it never did boot into the phone.

If all you did was try to flash the rom check the MD5sum and make sure it was a complete download and then try to flash again. Can you still get into recovery or bootloader?
no i can't even get into the recovery or bootloader, i think i'am just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new phone. unless rogers can fix it for me for a price,lol......
Did you go straight to 4.2.5 or did you have a previous version of Cyanogenmod? You probably didn't flash the HTC image first. read the first page of the Cyanogen thread.

The best thing you can do is ask your friend to reset his google password and then let him unlock your phone. That's the most XDA can help you with since we have no idea how the device was obtained. If he was your friend, he should take the responsibility of unlocking your phone.

Android phones require ONLY the Google account information to bypass the restriction.
Download the bypass app, then plug otg, install that then reset, i think that ur phone is not the newest version, so otg method would work

Unroot And Remove TWRP S8

Hey guys I rooted my S8 with TWRP and Magisk. Now I want to set my phone back to stock and sell it. What is the easiest way to do this?
I did the same in the past with an S7, I did a factory reset and it removed the root and went back to stock. This does not seem to work with the S8 though.
cheers

no. go to sammobile.com/firmwares and find the latest firmware for your device. Then get the Frija tool or SamFirm and download the firmware via one of those two tools (theyre both available by searching on XDA and they do the exact same thing, they just look a bit different) as they download the firmware literally 4 to 5 times faster and flash the stock firmware in Odin with the phone in DL mode. Be sure to flash the HOME_CSC to factory reset it and return it to a ready for sale state. Also, go into the settings and remove the fRP lock

from samsung themselves "The FRP is enabled automatically when a Google account has been registered on the device and will be disabled if the Google account is removed from the device prior to the Factory Data Reset. Once the FRP has been activated, it will prevent use of your device after a Factory Data Reset in an untrusted environment."

also, dont be afraid to use the "thanks" button. Small gestures do go a long way

I like your sense of humour I cant keep track of what forums have a thanks button and which ones dont so apologies for that. Because of this i try to make a point of thanking the person in writing at the beginning of my post. That way i am into the habit of politely thanking the person for taking the time to give me the help i need. So thanks again kind sir
I now understand what this FRP is, do disable it, do i need to login in to my google account on the device, then remove my google account, then do a Factory reset?

no worries about the thanking part an yep, a sense of humor is almost required these days!! i try to be at least a bit funny on most things i say because i feel we need more lightheartedness, so thank you for noticing!
But yes, in order to get the phone to not worry about being factory reset, you just need to log out of whatever google account is logged into the phone

Magisk is systemless root. It will never be reset by by anything within the OS. Only restoring the patched bootloader would remove the root. TWRP is the same. Download a stock image and flash via odin to restore the device.
