Unroot And Remove TWRP S8 - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hey guys I rooted my S8 with TWRP and Magisk. Now I want to set my phone back to stock and sell it. What is the easiest way to do this?
I did the same in the past with an S7, I did a factory reset and it removed the root and went back to stock. This does not seem to work with the S8 though.
cheers

no. go to sammobile.com/firmwares and find the latest firmware for your device. Then get the Frija tool or SamFirm and download the firmware via one of those two tools (theyre both available by searching on XDA and they do the exact same thing, they just look a bit different) as they download the firmware literally 4 to 5 times faster and flash the stock firmware in Odin with the phone in DL mode. Be sure to flash the HOME_CSC to factory reset it and return it to a ready for sale state. Also, go into the settings and remove the fRP lock

from samsung themselves "The FRP is enabled automatically when a Google account has been registered on the device and will be disabled if the Google account is removed from the device prior to the Factory Data Reset. Once the FRP has been activated, it will prevent use of your device after a Factory Data Reset in an untrusted environment."

also, dont be afraid to use the "thanks" button. Small gestures do go a long way

I like your sense of humour I cant keep track of what forums have a thanks button and which ones dont so apologies for that. Because of this i try to make a point of thanking the person in writing at the beginning of my post. That way i am into the habit of politely thanking the person for taking the time to give me the help i need. So thanks again kind sir
I now understand what this FRP is, do disable it, do i need to login in to my google account on the device, then remove my google account, then do a Factory reset?

no worries about the thanking part an yep, a sense of humor is almost required these days!! i try to be at least a bit funny on most things i say because i feel we need more lightheartedness, so thank you for noticing!
But yes, in order to get the phone to not worry about being factory reset, you just need to log out of whatever google account is logged into the phone

Magisk is systemless root. It will never be reset by by anything within the OS. Only restoring the patched bootloader would remove the root. TWRP is the same. Download a stock image and flash via odin to restore the device.

I have a device I recently bought from the internet. It has a device protection on it. The seller says he cannot remember such information for me to gain access. So I am pretty much stuck.
How would I go about bypassing this?
Thank you in advance.

I have already tried to return and he was having none of it, it's been sat in the draw for the last month but I've only just round to try and bypass this.
Which at the moment looks highly impossible.
Is it on lollipop ?

I have no idea mate, I can't tell. It's just stuck on the 'Verifying your account' screen.
How would I go about checking with no access to the phone?
EDIT: I think it is on lollipop
Does anyone else have any advice at all?
Thanks

This is one method of getting around the Google FRP Lock:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mD6RcS8ulGw
He basically uses a loophole on the first time setup WiFi page to launch Google Assist - bypassing the setup process, download/sideloads some apps and adds a Google Account.
You don't have to have the apps on a separate sd card; you can download them from apk-mirror using the Stock Browser, then go back and install them through My Files.
When rebooting the phone - it forgets about the previous owners Google Account that was on the phone.
It's quite funny really - not very good security.
I ran into this problem when I factory reset a G903F on the latest BTU firmware using the old HOME+VOLUP+POWER combo.
Flashing the latest firmware using ODIN with re-partition and erase NAND didn't even remove it.
Coming from an older S2 - I didn't realise that setting a lock screen pin activated other security mechanisms.
It basically thought I'd nicked it.
I should've factory reset it through the Settings > Backup & Restore menus - have to remember that!

N-910C Camera Failed - Even HW replacement doesnt solve!

Hi All,
Im posting this thread after review all others.
I have the phone for almost an year and everything was working fine.
Suddenly the Camera stopped working.
The problem is only in the rear camera. Front camera is working.
Wipe data / Factory reset from setting or Pwr+Home+Vol up doesnt help.
Also i even went to a phone shop and tried to replace the camera. After 3 different cameras the tech told me he dont know what to do and think need motherboard replacement. Another thing is the flash that i tought might stopped working but it is still functioning properly.
Need your wise help guys! Appriciate every comment or suggestion!
Thanks,
Eyal.
Have you tried reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device? There is a chance that the drivers for your main camera maybe corrupted or have been deleted. If that doesn't work then you are going to need a replacement motherboard.

Thank you for taking time looking amd replying.Thats an intresting option. I didnt tried that.
However i also didnt found a root method for the N-910C. I would need to replace the kernel with a different one and i cannot find a suitable Kernel.
Let me explore this option and lets see.
If you have any direction on the rooting part it would be great.
Thanks,
Eyal.
Ummm, if you have no experience in rooting your device I would strongly recommend you avoid doing that as you can easily brick your device. I'd highly recommend you reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device to see if that will fix your problem. Otherwise you will need to replace the motherboard.

Thanks man, ive rooted many devices i had in the past, the New ones dont need that as everything is quite good out of the box.
the problem is to find a kernel matching the 'C' version. all the rest is easy.
let me look into it.

Its a N-910C it still has warranty for a few months as each samsung phone comes with 24months. How could the Samsung Tech not replace or fix the camera under warranty?
Also why did they try 3 different types, you would have though after the first they would stop if they matched up the model number of the parts etc before even opening the phone.

You would be better off just reflashing the stock ROM back onto your device rather than go hunting for the individual kernel. As the original firmware file probably has that within it.

From what I understand you should be able to reflash the stock Samsung ROM back onto your device. This will remove the root functions and restore your device back to when it left the factory.

No, you shouldn't have to root your device in order to reflash the stock ROM back onto it. Just download the stock ROM from Sammobile and use Odin to flash it back onto your device. It's as simple as that. But you will loose the root features after you do this.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your responses, i have tried with Odin and downloaded the correct firmware from Sammobile (by verifying *#1234#) and after Odin pass successfully the device was not able to boot from the new firmware. so it rebooted again and returned to the former status (with all the apps and everything i currently still have ) means in other words Odin failed or i did something wrong.
i will keep trying. and update you.
Thanks,

What did it fail on? If it was sboot.bon that's the bootloader and you need to get the same version that was previously on your phone (Didn't read the post above. Try below, that will probably work).

With all do respect.... I don't think he was bashing anyone....he was just saying he flashed a ROM that wasn't posted to XDA...more than likely there wasn't any other option to ask for help elsewhere since XDA is very helpful with responses from developers and others.
I was wondering if anyone that is overseas (outside america) could share an EFI backup partition with me so I can fix my phone. Maybe that would fix.
keep watching the echorom thread someone else had the issue as well.
I cant they banned me from seeing their forum when I reported the bug.
O I see. If something gets posted that might help I'll let you know. But 1 thing I saw already is trying to flash multiple times with Odin
It might not work the first time. Or the second... or the third. Try like 10 times in the mean time until someone can help. If all else fails there has to be a way to make a working imei again since you know it anyway

This happened to me before in a old Tmobile S3 (T999) I had only edge network...
It was a headache and I was only able to put it back working going to a store that had BOX for flashing and do it myself with their box
and rewrite my IMEI manually during flash, as they were not able to do it (more say didn't have patience) .
I dunno if there is a easier way to do it... but this was how I fixed mine back then. But one thing is true, I lost a lot of time back then trying to fix it and if it happens me now again I would do a quick search and if not quick solution, try to find a guy that owns a box as it will literally save you days and sleep. However there are excellent devs around so they might be able to help..

Would u have any suggestions on where I could go to fix?
Quick question. What csc is in your phone now? Have to tried changing it again with a new one or the one that was originally on it when you got it? Like a flashable zip? Cos it looks like somehow the one you used must corrupt something in the efs... which is bizzare

I went to local store that usually unlocks/fixes phones, but I had a friend connection around.. hence they allowed me to go inside and do it myself.
Try to search 1st around if there is a solution, as it might be... I can't remember how it happened to my phone, but I was flashing lots of ROM without a problem and then it happened for some reason. There is a reason for it, however I couldn't find it as my knowledge is limited. I do remember that I tried, stock, odin, kies, whatever... and nothing worked until I went to try with a BOX.
IF you can't find a quick solution try to search around physical stores that flash phones, as they usually have a BOX and probably they might pull the S7 image already for their box... try to search a friendly one and take the purchase papers with you as most are not very comfortable with anything that might involve IMEI if you odn't know anybody.

It was the German based CSC
G935FDBT1APC5
However I flashed back STOCK which has
G935FNZC1APAX
The bizzare thing is my phone appears to still get a signal, but emergency calls only. When I #06# It shows 00000000000000 for 2 MEIDs. Which is weird as I don't have a dual sim model. This is even after Odin stock, no root.

Fair enough, I still have the original purchase, I got it from overseas, receipt, and sticker still on the phone. Even the box. at the same time i was wondering if anyone overseas, (not in the usa) would be willing to backup EFS and PM me with a G935F because I could use that meid in the usa. I have no intentions of going overseas to Europe anytime soon but I might go abroad if its oceana or Asia.

Pretty Please Help. Bricked S5 and Lost

So, I'm at a total and complete loss as to what to do. I have spent hours upon hours googling, and searching xda and trying step after step after guide after guide and I canNOT fix my S5! I've tried recovery, I've tried Odin and there has got to be something I'm missing. When I plug up the phone into my laptop, it sort of recognizes it, in the sense that it makes the notification noise of it being recognized, as with any external device. Odin picks it up as well. The issue is when trying to boot up the phone, it's stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S5 custom, android etc screen. it will not go past this. i'm almost in tears right now, and just want to get the phone working again. Is there anyone out there that can help???
Tiny update.
So I tried another method, and still having issues. Only difference is, I get past the powered by android screen, but then when getting to the Samsung with the color and oval it freezes and shuts down. One step forward, 2 steps back.

good to hear!! (or see, rather LoL) usually a flash in Odin with the correct tarball fixes most issues with S5's

well, let's just say i have a folder of 26 links, majority from here on trying to find a solution on how to root and consequently unbrick my phone when I messed it up. that's probably not even all of them. I only posted on one asking a question, but it was about upgrading the firmware (still waiting on a reply on that, lol). so I have no clue which post it was that was finally successful in restoring my phone.

Samsung SM-580UD Android 7.0 10" FRP

I need some help if possible with this SM-580. I saw a post that had info on bypassing the frp lock. But the post dint go into enough details, and it was copied from a post a few months back which I tried to locate and could not.
And I wasn't sure if it was the right info for my device.
Here all info on my Tablet.
It's a 10" Black 16GB Samsung SM-T580UD
Android 7.0
And it has been reset asking for google login info.
Any help is much appreciated.
.....Thanks for any help

Not sure what I've done wrong, or what 46 views and no one can help out with better step by step instructions. I did do many search's before asking for help. I'll have a go at my self. Hope I don't brick it. I've spent hundreds of hours in past making tutorial videos and working one on one via phone or video chat to guide people thru countless other issues. Just wanted to let y'all know I've paid it forward in help.

The reason no one has responded is that the questioned has been asked and answered so many times that anyone should be able to find the answer on their own. There is even a step by step answer. And there is a video posted by Beut. But you have to be VERY VERY careful to follow it exactly. Miss one step and it won't work.

You must not have read them carefully. The ONLY way to remove the FRP lock is to use Odin to revert to 6 with the ROM ending in PL4. You won't find a way while still running 7.
edit: BTW, once you remove the FRP lock, the tablet will update itself, OTA, back to the latest 7 from Samsung. So, don't worry about using 6 to get rid of the lock.

What difference does it make what firmware the tablet is running now? In order to remove the FRP the tablet has to be set back to the PL4 firmware and that can be done no matter what it currently has.
edit: The ability to add a fake wifi entry, highlighting it and choosing "advanced" is the key. That feature is ONLY available in a few Android 6 ROMS. The one ending in PL4 being one of them.

It matters because it's possible to remove FRP on nougat depending on the firmware build.

Then why not just post what version to flash and how to use it to remove FRP? Rather than, "what version are you running?", flash version "xyzzz" and do "such and such". Personally, I'd like that info if, and only if, it is easier than the 6 method. And doesn't cost any money. If you are selling something, then forget it.
edit; I take that back. If the OP can't figure out how to use the 6 method, and you can sell them something using 7, then more power to you.

Are you for real?
Do you think I'd spoil a perfectly good rep on these forums to sell something that can be obtained for free? In future do your research before replying to members with 'Recognized contributor' status.
Also no, I will not post up the method for general consumption, so any Tom **** and Harry can breeze by and happily bypass the security on a questionably obtained device.

Yes, I'm for real. How about you? There is already a method for bypassing the FRP posted here for any Tom **** and Harry. If you are so concerned, take the whole thing to PM. Otherwise, your playing coy makes it look like you have something to sell.

I will take it to PM if the OP needs further assistance.
I don't care if a method is available already for MM.
I appreciate if you'd quit with the ridiculous assumptions.
I am not, never have done or ever will sell something on XDA.
I do what I do for free. If you'd actually take the time to do a little research, you be aware of that, but obviously not.
I'm not going to get into a tit for tat with you as it pointless and will refer this to a mod if it goes any further.
Let's keep it on topic.
