No Streaming Media With New Cingular Rom - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I am using a Cingular 8525 with the new rom from AT&T. I was wondering if anyone else encountered this issue. I can no longer stream audio or video from any source including windows media mobile site. I first noticed the problem when i tried to use xstreamxm and the site works but it wont trasfer over to the media player to actually play.

I'd very much like to know the answer to this as well as I'm having the same exact problem with xstreamxm only I'm currently using WXML 0.21.....
XstreamXM ( http://www.xstreamxm.com/mobile ) works fine on my device as well but when WMP picks up the stream it goes to Buffering 0% then reverts back to paused. After I upgraded to WXML I used wpbear's cingular mms cab (thank you so much wpbear). Internet and MMS work fine but if I can't listen to Ethel and The Virus then why do I exist???
Whoever is kind enough to solve this issue for me will gladly be given the honorary spirit award for the day =]

This is killing me with the new 3.3 ROM also... hopefully someone can help...

Have you tried...
...using isp.cingular? Or at least configuring "My ISP" (does not use proxies) with the standard wap.cingular settings?

I have both isp and wap settings currently in my phone and set to auto pick. I've also tried using both profiles seperately, disconnecting and trying again to no avail.

Works with Net front
I stated using netfront in order to get cingular video. Now i can get streams to work from xstreamxm.com./mobile and other sites. Any kind of audio stream still dosent work in pie. I am using media net with the wireless.cingular proxy or just wifi.

I have not had a problem, but I have been using www.radio4pda.com

I still cannot get past my 0% buffering no matter wap or isp or netfront rather than ie. I believe ppennza's problem was a bit different than mine. can anyone replicate this problem or solve it?

I have the same problem either I use GPRS or WiFi, I had to go back to the official 1.34 and problem solved.
BTW BBC 2.1.2.54 works fine on both (2.06 and 1.34)

GPRS Internet Explorer Problem?

Hi... I JUST got GPRS on my phone today (via T-Mobile USA). Needless to say, I was quite excited about it. However, it doesn't seem as though I can browse any webpages.
I can connect to AIM and message people just fine, however whenever I try to load ANY website, it just tells me the page cannot be found. I then tried using a different browser (Acess NetFront to be exact), also to no avail. Whenever I connect the PDA to the cradle, however, it seems to browse the internet just fine.
Anybody have any ideas or suggestions? Maybe this has been covered before.
Hi
i am experiencing the same problem, did you manage to solve this browsing issue ?
Hope to hear from you soon

BBC 4.0

Anyone got it working or tried Blackberry Connect client 4.0 on the Athena?
Mine (4.0.0.67) seems to try to create the blackberry network connection but won't connect. I can run it fine on the TyTn, but not on my X7500.
any ideas? I tried creating manually a netowrk connection for the APN, named it BlackBerry etc, to no avail. You see the device type is recognized as HTC-Athena. When I check the status, it stays at not connected. When I suspend, then resume, it briefly shows, Network available, then flashes Data Tunnel available, and quickly switches back to not connected. As if it looses connectivity. And yes, I'm all provisitioned fine, the same darn SIM in the TyTn with the same BBC client executable on it works. Go figure.

I tried, but unfortunately it's the same problem like with other devices. If you don't have a matching OS-Version number you will not be able to get it up running. As far as I can see there is currently no way to change the os version number in the athenas rom. I found the right values but the .nbh file is signed, thus it will not flash.
I think we will have to wait for another BBC version or another ROM version (or someone finds a way to flash any rom).

I should be getting my hands on BBC 5.0, will try it. It's build for the HTC Excalibur and Hermes, but I suspect it will run also on the Athena. They are renaming the BBC to something else ?!? Anyway, the BBC 4.0 client was working fine on WM5 OEM on Hermes and on the WM6 rom for asia, can't recall which provider. Won't on the Black 3.01. Sounds right about the version number though... anyway. BBC 2.1 will do fine for now I guess.
Anyone tried BBC and Live on the same device (BBC on a BES, with calendar sync) ?

BBC 5.0? Is this the 'virtual bb' offering that bb announced not long ago?
obviously my athena fails with bb 4.x.
The only coment is that when I install, the today pluggins disappear, maybe provide some light to hackers...

So I heard... BBC is renamed to Virtual Blackberry. Anyhow. Better version of BBC 4.0 (supposedly).

Virtual bb works differently than BBC. Its basically a virtual machine, and thus apps within it is not integrated with WM.
My experience with BB 2 in Athena (WM5) is great. Works perfect... or at least as expected. You got the problems related to versión 2 that don't allow you to view jpg files and so on, but you receive and send messages without any problem.
My configuration is BB 2 against a BES server in release 4 (I think) and my account is on Lotus Notes R6.
Well I tested the BB 4. Madness. The program was working properly on my Athena (WM5) but the installation makes a real mess with the Today screen. Everything in today screen stop working and left the Today program unable to use or configure. That happens to more users than me. So is not a problem with my Athena (WM5). Looks like BB 4 has real troubles with Today of WM5. The guess is BB 4 is designed to be used with WM6... I'm not sure.
The BB 4 seems to work faster, supports more attachments and allows you to navigate Internet thru the BB connection which is useful for those users that are not allow to access Internet directly from the Athena.
But from my point of view BB 4 did a real mess with my WM5 so I finally made a hardreset and rollback to BB 2. I will back with BB 4 as soon as I upgrade to WM6 my Athena.
Best Regards,
mahjong

Hi, I answered in the main BB Hacking thread.
I have version 4 installed on my Athena with WM5 without any problems. It didn't make any mess to my today screen. Also I haven't noticed any other negative side effects (except that I cannot disable the automatic device lock after max. 1 hour, but I assume thats a company policy setting, have to talk to our BES guys).
Cheers
I have it running on my AMeo, no tweaks whatsover just installed it, soft reset and voila... The only thing I have done is disablethe today item as they appear to havea few conflicts.
Its much more stable than BBC 2xx.
Bring on Virtual Blackberry im hoping that it will enable me to RDP to my work machine through the BB connection negating the need for VPN

Unexplained change in browsing; help, please!

I have a hermes I was using with tmobile. All browsers I tried worked fine with most web pages I went to for a long time. Then a few days ago tmobile locked down their data network and I had to go through some settings acrobats to get my tzones plan to work again, but the sites I used most, like yahoo mail, didn't work.
I switched to Cingular today and am using the media max plan and I'm getting errors on several of the sites I use, still. Yahoo complained about something java related and Orb is giving me problems too. I use the file browser function of orb to navigate my home PC and download music to my phone and it will still navigate fine, but earlier when I tried to download a song I got some error message, and now when I try it says opening... for awhile then gives up saying something about a lost connection.
What could be the problem and how would I fix it?
Also, wifi is suddenly not working anymore. With tmobile I had it set up so that wifi would be used if available, and if not, the data connection would be used. I used this guy's settings to get around the proxy problem: post # 254 in this hofo thread.
Now after switching to Cingular and installing the settings cab called Cingular Default WAP Medianet MMS Settings.cab I can't browse with my wifi connection, but google maps and weatherpanel can still use it just fine.
What's up with that?

Using 8525 as webcam

I have 8525 and was wondering if there is a software that I can use the 8525 camera as a webcam and set it up to stream video to the internet using the data connection in my plan. I tried Cellicast but it doesnt seem to work .. Any suggestions .. We definately need this application for 8525
http://www.ateksoft.com/webcamplus.html
Awesome app, just wish it was freeware.
Let me specify what I meant there ... What I am looking for is an application that turns my phone camera into webcam and streams video to the internet without connecting to my computer ... If I am on the road and I turn it on it should transmit video via the internet connection provided by my cell phone company ..
I'm still looking for some software or a driver that will do the same. Any updates?

Youtube problem on X1

I have a slight problem with youtube: It plays fine over Wifi but NOT over the data connection. It loads the Streaming Media app, displays 'connecting' then buffering and then an error: 'No audio frames found'
If I enable Wifi it works just fine. The data connection works well for everything else, it's not using a proxy and it's set to conenct to the internet. It also seems to download the data as my GPRS data counter is showing a few MB's downloaded.....yet nothing played.
Has anyone seen this before?
TIA
No One? We'll I'll try a hard reset then....
I never had such a problem...
Well....after a hard reset and some testing I found that it seems to work on one AP but not the other. Strangely enough, the Streaming Media player uses the conenction I set up for it but unless both Internet and Private connections (under Settings/Connections) are also configured to use it it still does not work right. Using Internet sharing from the phone it works with either access point.....however that would make any sense..... I assume the mobile youtube page must use a different protocol for streaming than the page I get to se on the laptop. Anyway, I'm on Telstra....maybe on other networks you don't get these kinds of headaches ;-)
Cheers
