Atom exec won't switch on - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom General

Well I got my Atom exec replaced. However this exec (totally new one) won't turn on after being turned on and off a few times. it is totally unresponsive to the power (or any other button). if someone calls, they just think I'm not picking up the phone.
QC is terrible on this device. It came from factory with the latest rom. It even does this when the device has been hard reset and the device is being used totally virgin with no programs on it. Any ideas anyone?

Does anyone have any ideas with this?

If it does that even when it's not out of juice, return to manufacturer and kick up a fuss. Yes, the QC on the Atom series really sucks.

ok, i've managed to bypass this by changing the system power state flags under "suspend" and "unattended". I changed the flag to 1000000 (instead of 20000 and 40000), anybody know a flag that is even lower power but not suspend? i wonder why my exec can't drop to that power mode. strange.

Powering down 8125

Instead of holding the power button for several seconds to shut down the 8125, is there a free program that does the same thing?
There are several programs that can lock, shut down, and soft reset the device. But it seems like the shut down process does not really shut down the device like holding down the power button. Can anyone explain this to me why is this?
Thanks
It is one of the many laws that govern the realm of the PDA that thou shall not shut down a PDA. The PDA function does not take up much of the battery. You can try shutting off the phone/GSM function.
Why would you want to turn your phone off ?
In the windows folder, there is a file called poweroff.exe. Create a link to it. That is what I use.
why? If you know you are not going to be using it and not taking any calls for a while.
maybe i can answer for jimmyhauser 8)
i am in university, and whenever im in class, i usually put my phone on the table (but i turn off the ringer << polite =P) anyways, a couple of times my professor asked me to TURN OFF the phone during a test. and he stood there waiting for me to turn off the phone. it took quite some time, unwind the headphone, take out the stylus, unlock the device wait 5 seconds while pressing the power button to turn it off..it was an akward moment (even though it doesnt sound like it) and thats happened a few times. Also wen i go to the hospital. i dont want my phone to make intereference with some guy's life saving device. so a quick power off is needed =P
and thanks for the link to the file ;-)
FYI, on intel based HTC devices, VJEschaton will also shut down devices to full power off using the -sleep mode. I don't think anyone other then me uses it though Very useful on WM2003 devices when you're not going to be giving them a daily top up of juice... prevents them from hardreseting themselves.

I turned off my 8125 last night and the unit will not boot up today... Can't even hard reset. I think, once i get the Cingular 225 ROM installed, i won't be turning it off again.

Turning the device off

It may be a newbie question, but I have tried to find it out for a couple of weeks now and failed:
How do I turn the Universal off, apart from taking the battery out? Does Windows Mobile have a menu option that turns the deice off? I can't find the key combination that does it either.
What is the safest way to reset it? If I use the reset button, some recent text messages get lost.
I am using Helmi UNI AKU3.5 ROM. Might it be the rom's fault?
Hi there,
In fact, most PDAs are never "off" because else it wont turn "on" to do the reminders...
That said, few 3rd party tools allows you shutdown your device or restart it.
Like http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/
Or GsPocketMagic++
I think VJEschaton can put it into a "deeper" deep sleep. I can't remember if this works on the Universal, it should work on all HTC Xscale devices, but I think it was only tested on the Magician.
The device can be forced into any power state you want. But the OS doesn't support that, so it's OEM specific typically.

I had that prob with losing messages..
How you can fix it, is if before you reset you press the power button one (to make it sleep) then press it again (to wake back up) then do the reset.
It will keep that exact state its at then.
I think this is what you mean?

Wizard shut itself down after about 20 sec.

I've had several Wizards with problems, the Wizard I've got right now has a problem that I've never seen before.
When I turn on the (SPV M3000) It shows the Orange bootscreen with this information:
IPL 2.18
SPL 2.18
GSM 01.04.10
OS 2.18.1.3
After seeing this bootscreen for about 20 seconds the SPV M3000 shut down itself.
Starting the phone from the bootloader doesn't make any difference.
When I use the buttons for a hard reset and press the send button, the phone shows Format is complete. After a few seconds it boots and show the bootscreen but than it also shut down itself.
Can anyone tell me if this is a hardware or a software issue ?
Cant say for sure.If the phone is still under warranty take it back for repairing. If it is not,hen you have screwed up anyway I mean if its not under warranty try upgrading the rom (flash it) to one of the many excellent roms available here..
It may be possible for a dead battery (or the battery failed to charge due to some reasons).

No the phone is not under warranty anymore. I bought if from someone becouse I thought it was just a simple problem. But how shouldI flash the rom if the phone shut itself down after 20 seconds ? This also happens when the phone is in bootloader mode.

I allready used a full charged battery from another Wizard but still the same problem.
Is there some else with another solution please ?
Not much help from me here, but from what it seems, since the phone also shut downs in bootloader mode, it would heavily suspect it is a hardware fault (as it is not the battery). As in bootloader mode, you either can get into it or not. Once you are in it, it will go into a listening mode and do nothing. As such, I cant think of a software problem that can mess it up that good. As for the 20 seconds shut down, chances are there are some (example) short circuit around the unit that, once you switch it on, things inside gets hot, and activating the problem.
You can also do some test. Try to use a accurate stop watch (to the mili seconds) to time the shut down (in bootloader mode) in different temperature environment (i.e. at night cold, in the sun warm, etc), and it should give you a slight different in the shutdown time. IF NOT, you can hope it is a software issue.
The battery works on other Wizard?
I'm still having this problem, does anyone knows a solution ?
I had similar problem but after several times it restarted it was unable to turn it on again. It`s not working anymore. I think the same, that this is a hardware issue. Maybe the water or humidity caused some short circuit and made some damage.

HTC HD power off problems

Hello,
I have a problem with my HTC HD. From time to time it shuts down without any reason. When I press the power button I can see the Windows Mobile starting...
Did any body else had this problem?
Is there a solution for this?
Thank you
perhaps your battery is not positioned properly or sitting a bit loose? Try a post-it (or something else thin) on the back of the battery cover..
Mine shuts down and won't turn back on without a reset every time I'm in an area with no signal, it basically stays off while I'm at work.
if you keep getting these kinds of nondescript errors and it survives a hardboot, basically there are three options left:
1) try to flash a different firmware or
2) take it back to the store (flash back first)
3) hope like hlll some guru here gets an eyefull of your problem and knows a quickfix (slim chance seeing the number of daily new posts here and the typical guru tendency towards development as opposed to a supportdesk)
I'd set my hopes on 1) or 2). Good luck however you choose.
Cheers,
Rick
Guys,
I'm having quite the same problem: the touch HD keeps turning on and off automatically, as if the power button is pressed (but its not).
Moreover, the power button just don't work. I press it and nothing happened.
I have master reseted the phone and also have changed its ROM, but the problem stills.
Unfortunatelly I'm start thinking that its a hardware problem.
I guess that a solution shoul be reassing the power button, disabling it. Is there any app through which I can reassing the power button?
Have you solved the problem? I have a similar prob, my power button doesn't seem to work when i press it, and if i soft reset (through HD Tweak) when it boots I get a warning message saying " Warning your device will power off and you'll lose your data, Yes No".
It's like the button is half pressed all the time.
Couldn't find any info on hard key remapping either.
I used to have a similar problem but it was with the screen....
The screen used to turn off suddenly without a reason but the phone is turned on and I keep receiving calls. After returing back to my Supplier in Egypt they replaced it with a new one after testing it for three days.
I'm using the new one sine 20th of December 2008 and nothing happened again
Well if you guys are in the US (or have HSDPA/UMTS disabled) then re-enable them (that should hopefully get rid of the restarts in low-to-no-signal areas).
Hope it helps

[Q] phone shutting down whilst screen lock

has anyone faced the phone switching off even when it's screen locked? This happened a few times to me.
1st scenario is when my phone is in a waist pouch which is a little tight for this model. when i take it out of the pouch, i either find it off or waiting at the sim unlock screen. this is caused by pressing the power button accidentally.
2nd scenario is after charging over night, i wake up to find the phone asking me to key in sim unlock pin (it will not be completely off because whenever charger is plugged in, it will power up). The phone was screen locked before i charge it and i did not touch the power button by accident unlike scenario 1.
which ever the scenario, by right the power off button shouldn't work whilst in screen lock right?
The same scenarios happend to me, sometimes more than once a day. Very annoying.
I too have this issue, especially the overnight charging one, which is annoying because then the alarm fails to go off!!! After convincing 2 other people to get the Trophy 7 they also experience this.
I called HTC support in the UK yesterday and all they could suggest to me was that I reset the phone settings, which I've done, and of course ended up needing to put all my settings back in which is extremely frustrating when I expect that it won't fix anything.
I really would recommend calling HTC support in your country and logging a call, because the guy told me that I was the first to report it.
You can get the phone numbers from the htc website, which i cannot post the URL to since I'm a new user, but I'm sure you can find it. Go to "Support" -> "Customer Service" -> "Support by hotline"
Of course, you could not call them to report the issue, but then they'll think that I'm the only user in the world with the problem and not actually resolve it!!! It's going to take you about 10mins and they'll keep talking to you about windows mobile 6.5, instead of windows phone, but the more calls logged = greater chance of resolution.
I've had the turning of when it's in my pocket, but i've never had it turn of overnight when charging.
at least not that i've noticed
Whilst experimenting with android on my touch pro from the very beginning when you couldn't enter a sim code, i've removed it and i'm to lazy to set a new one
All the problems (screen freeze of crazy dancing icons of phone shutting down) solved after FLASHING newest WWE ROM from this forum. Maybe helps, but U have to decide and do it yourself or not.
This has happend MANY times on my trophy aswell.. I ended up turning off the sim lock code (That way the phone starts up again after boot and your alarms etc works)
Yup, I've had the "pocket" thing also happen to me, more than once in the same day... quite frustating.
Qtek S200 (HTC Prophet) After ROM update, its now shutting down whilst in sleep mode
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but recently I upgraded my s200's ROM using the CD utility that came with it. Its now running Build 14928.2.2.0 of WM5.
Before the ROM update it has never done it once.
Some people said they got the problem when it went into lock screen, my lock screen is fine. It will only do it when the phone is in sleep mode, if i disable the "power off" timout setting then its absolutly fine aslong as i dont press the power button.
Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem?
Somebody did mention about flashing the rom from one of OS's on this site, but all the ones I have found contain dead rapidshare links.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
My solution on Trophy is simple, using a Casemate case on my phone. It makes the off button so stiff, that it's hard to shut off.
I guess I never realized why it was such a pain in the case to shut off... this MUST be the reason. Also, since I now have two Trophy's (one for developing roms), this other one I just bought has been through hell, and it's difficult to half press the camera button to focus. The Casemate case I have on my good Trophy makes it far harder to press the camera button, but my year old Trophy that I've always had doesn't suffer from any problems with its camera button.
This is the newer version of the Casemate case I was using on my HTC Trophy. I don't know if this will help you with your older phone, but maybe Casemate makes a case for it. Since it's an older phone, it will be difficult.
