I did post previously about this and I think I've stumbled onto a solution.
If you click on the ariel from the Today screen or anywhere else, it takes ages to switch off (show the X) BUT if you go over to the dialler screen (pess the phone button) and then click the ariel & turn off, it switches off in about 2 seconds !!!
That's what it does on my machine anyway - maybe others can confirm this behaviour.

Didn't work for me
Just tried that, but it still took around 5 secs for the popup menu to appear. Once it's popped up once though, it seems to then be selectable quite quickly.
I guess the real solution is to get a hardware button to turn it on/off!
Lee.
I just tried it again and it takes just as long as it did before. Damn !!
I wish somebody would figure this out !!

A workaround could be phone profiles, which are offered for example by Ultra Profiler 2.0 (http://www.mobilesolutions.ro/)
It offers the profile "Airplane", which switches off the phone immediately.
Unfortunately, it seems to be buggy. After switching between some profiles, it changes to a strange ring tone.
I also tried this, and it still takes ages
sorry any more tricks to try....
John
to turn it off quickly you could just throw it your hardest against the floor the harder it hits the floor the more faster the device will switch off.
but i wouldnt do this as it would be a waste of money
Funny you sould say that, as when it locks up or dose not do what i needed it to do i oftern think of using your super fast turn off mode
john
I think the reason for delays in switching off is that mobile phones send out a signal to the Providors transmitters to tell them its being switched off, so it needs to do that before it will turn itself off.
I believe the phone switches itself off the moment you open the sim door cover; there is that little microswitch there...
Got home today--put the phone in cradle noticed it was searching for provider--since then phone does not work at all- I was out and around today--no calls. another phone in house same provider works fine. I just have that icon with the x and when i try to turn on the phone nothing happens.
Any ideas???
Have you tried a soft reset?
Several times--anyone know what flight mode is?

Flight Mode stands for "no wireless emision" mode:
- NO phone comunications functions
- NO Bluetooth
- NO WI-FI
This is the usual mode required during commercial flights, where the name comes from. You can use only the PDA part of your XDA while in this mode.
Hope it helps.
Thanks
Well that explains flight mode.
Still does not explain why i am in flight and how to get out of it. If i try to make a call it says phone turned off-do you want to start. ckick yes and nothing happens--the dialog box goes away but no phone--also cannot see phone trying to connect to anything.
Hi!
Tap your phone icon on the top bar, (it should show an X) then tap "turn off flight mode", it should bring your phone back, and request the PIN. If not, call your phone program from the programs menu, and see what happens.
It is simple, if nothing happens your phone/phone SW might be damaged somehow....
Good luck!
I have been trying all that and nothing happens. Wonder if a hard reset might help or if the sim card is damaged.
A hard reset will answer the question, and at least you can do a backup of your data.

Did not want to hard reset. Put the sim in another phone and got sim rejected error message. then went to ais and they told me the sim was damaged and gave me another one for 10 bucks--same number.
Thanks everyone for your replies.

Hi All,
My O2 mini got problem with standby mode If i don't press power button to switch to standby mode is OK but when I press power button then screen will be turned off, later on I can't turn it on by press power button again. I tried to call my number the phone is ringing and signal light is blinking but the MOST important that I can't answer the call or turn my O2 mini back to normal mode to play. The only way is soft reset and use it without switching to standby mode.
One more thing If i turn it off for 03s only then I can turn on but more than 03s I can't
Anybody know what happened to my phone ? Your help is highly appreciated.

i also have the same problem before. Last time I think it was viruses and I try to hard reset my Imate Jam, after that until now is already ok.
I suggest you follow the hard-reset advice. If that doesn't solve your probs. see if you can trade it in.
Bypass with a today plugin, like dktoday (easy switch to standby, BT on/off, displays current act. network...)
Success, M

You may call PPCTECHS
Hi,
I had a serious screen problem in the past: My 15 LBs bowling ball droped over my JAM and crashed the screen while blending the case!!
I sent my device to www.ppctechs.com for repairing and now its OK.
They have 2 types of service: partial and full system repair.

Has anyone had this happen?
Syncing with my Vista computer using BT. I dont (forget to really) turn off BT on my HTC 7501 and if I turn off the computer and say don't look at my HTC 7501 device for some time, around .5 - 8 hours, then try to turn it on the device wont come on. I can see the Blue Tooth light lit on the HTC 7501. Gotta do a reset to get the 7501 to come on.
It seems the BT freezes or is 'searching' or something. Anyone know what this is?
I had bought an HTC 7501 begining of July and this happened so much it pissed me off, so I returned it after 5 days (after attemting to take it apart also . Failed misearably because did not want to damage the device.
Here it is 15 August and I love the device so got another one and its nice because it has all the updated FW, no more "test device" stuff on boot up.
To give some more Troubleshooting tips. I had an ATT 8525 for 3 days end of June that did the exact same thing. Returned it because of this and the stylus holder broke.
One thing I am going to do is remove Vista on my computer and put XP on and see if it still does it, but anyone have an more experience with this?

I also use Vista and generaly do not have any problems with syncing both with USB cable and bluetooth.
But sometimes Vista for some reason refuses to recognize my X7500 as registered device and then happens, what you have described (no matter whether on Bluetooth or USB). However it is Vista (the same happens sometimes in my other comp with WinXP), not my X7500, to be blamed. In such case I have to restart Vista and everything comes to normal state.
The bad part is my computer is off and I am usually in bed or just getting up in the morning 8 hours later to find my device wont turn on. Also cant get calls in on my 7501 device when this happens because cant get the unit to turn on, which is very bad for business.
In reallity I gotta remember to turn of my 7501 bluetooth before turning the 7501 off.
But again this was happening with my ATT 8525 WM5 device also.
So, it is BT and ?Windows? related?

It is windows not BT.
I usualy do not switch of BT in my X7500 at all. I use Jabra as headset. I also use ny X7500 as internet access point while of the office, so the BT is almost always ON. I just switch X7500 off or let it switch off automaticaly. Itconsumes no more then 5% to 10% of battery during the night. Of course I have to charge it every day or sometimes twice a day if I use it hardly.
Hey I was wondering if anyone could help
I recently spent ALL my money on an SPV M3100, with the good help from this site I got it unlocked, installed hard SPL and flashed the latest HTC WM6 ROM to it.
Everything was going swimmingly until I installed a SIM for the first time. As soon as I activated the phone and the settings were updated to Vodafone Australia the screen went white (you can just about make out the icons at the right angle, but very faint).
My first thought was that the HTC ROM was causing the problem so I changed to Schaps 4.31. However that's when I discovered it's the SIM that's causing the trouble.
The screen works fine with no SIM, but insert the SIM and update the settings and I get a blank screen.
Would be majorly grateful for any advice.
Many thanks,
Al.
b****ks I don't think it is a SIM issue as it's just happened with no SIM!
However it does seem to happen every time the handset goes into sleep mode. It loads up fine EVERY time, but when I retreive from sleep mode there's a white out!

That happend to my Hermes before. After turning on the screen, it would sometimes fade to white or just go white with a button press. It wasn't too bad at first then it got worse. I ended up sending mine in to ATT for a repair, so I know thats not much help, but it maybe your only option if its a hardware issue....
no worries - I appreciate your advice, just out of curiosity though, was it expensive to repair (i.e. almost the cost of getting a new one!).
I've removed sleep mode from the settings, dimmed the screen and set the backlight to cut out after only a few seconds and it's been absolutely fine for the last 24 hours everything else seems to work fine, it's just coming out of sleep that causes the problem.
Blank White Screen - Power Saving Mode
I have the same problem, but it started to occur after the upgrade to wm6.1. When I try to return the power saving mode, the display does not work. He stay in a blank white screen, but all other functions of the unit still running. After a reset it back to normal. The problem of how to disable the power saving mode is the small time of battery life. Anybody got any solution?
