Orange SPV-M1000 with Globsat 338 and TT5 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi there,
I have an Orange M1000 Pocket PC (also sold as a XDA II or QTEK 2020 etc etc).
It's running Pocket PC 2003 Version 4.20 (Build 13252).
Rom Version: 1.60.00WWE
Rom Date: 12/03/03
Radio Version: 1.10.00
Protocol version: 1337.18
ExtROM version: 1.60.38
I'm trying to get my Globsat BT338 GPS Blue tooth reciever to work with TomTom 5.21(5430).
The thing is I know that my the GPS unit is on COM5. The software utility that it comes with
and installed on the PDA, picks it up on com5 and I can see the Satelite signal strength.
In TT5 under "Other Bluetooth GPS", when configuring, The only Com port the comes up is
COM6. COM5 does not show up. I've also tried TT6 and it has the same problem. I've also
tried choosing "Other NMEA GPS" and manually specifying the baud rate but again only Com 6
comes up.
The thing is, I've also got a QTEK 2020 (supposed to be the same thing!) which works fine
with both TT5 and TT6. On the Qtek the GPS unit comes up under COM5 and it works fine (and
has been working fine for 6 months).
The QTEK is running Pocket PC 2003 Version 4.20 (Build 14053).
Rom Version: 1.72.00WWE
Rom Date: 03/15/04
Radio Version: 1.14.00
Protocol version: 1337.24
ExtROM version: 1.72.125
Don't know why it only comes up on COM6 on the Orange M1000.
I've tried unpairing the devices (on both PDA's) and re-pairing again only on the M1000,
ticking the "outbound COM port: 5" option under "Bluetooth settings". I've sucessfully
paired a Hands free Headset with the M1000 just to make sure that it's blue tooth is
working. Any ideas????

No takers then!
Any suggestions at all from the experts?

I am waiting for an answer on this one too.....

It's been a while since I looked into this for myself. I use TT6 and a TT dongle now.
Try installing Beeline GPS http://www.visualgps.net/BeeLineGPS/
Pair your Bt338 and you should get a signal on beeline. Then set TT as other wired device set your baud rate as in the bt338 guide and choose com 5 (I think). It should then work.
Play around with these settings. It took me some time to get this working but once it was set it worked every time.
For some reason you have to have Beeline on your XDAII for this to work, same settings failed without it installed.
Good luck

ROM 1.66.00WWE + EMTAC CRUX + ........... BT Headset ? ? ?

Thiss is the ROM of my Qtek:
ROM: 1.66.00WWE
DATE: 02/20/04
RADIO: 1.10.00
PROTOCOL: 1337.18
ExtROM: 1.66.130
I am looking for a headset that correctly works and which causes no conflicts with the Emtac Crux BT GPS receiver.
First I was intend to buy a Logitech, but I read on a dutch forum that it doesn't work fine with this ROM-version.
BTW - can I DOWNgrade a ROM ???? I dn't think so...
So, now I thougt to buy a Sony/Ericson HBH-30 or HBH-35 ???
Would this be a lucky combination ????
Hi mvb95,
I use the 172 beta ROM with an Emtac Bluetooth GPS and a Logitech bluetooth headset. No problems at all. I can Navigate using TomTom and call at the same time. TomTom will mute when I'm using the phone and will be unmuted when the phonecall has ended.
This has been working with the 160 ROM also and with an Bluetrek G2 headset and a Nokia HDW2 headset with the same GPS receiver.
The problems on thread on the Dutch site are strange and I can't reproduce them.
Hope this helps your decision.

Fortuna BTclip-on + TomTom City Maps

Hi, as a newbie please forgive any protocol errors, this is my first post to any forum.
I am using a SPV M1000 with a Fortuna BT Clip-on, I have managed to pair the devices, no probs so far. When I switch from the TomTom GPS screen (after recieving a signal) to the TomTom City Maps, the BT conection to the Clip-on is cut, and therfore I do not get a fix on the map. This problem also occurs when I try to use Fugawi3 (another mapping prog).
What am I doing wrong, any and all help would be much appreciated.
BT Tools has been added.

gps coesist problems
I've found that few gps programs coesist properly. I tried tt3 + smartst and had intermittent problems. City maps seems to break everything. The only solution I found was to have say a sprite full backup on my sd card and restore the product suite I wanted, not ideal I know.
i have an mv1000, and i have both mapopolis and tomom3 installed
with connection to fortuna clip on. the baud rate speed on mine is set to 38400 on com 5. never had any problems with devices and software..
although i always had the problem of the fortuna not initalising the bluetooth section...hence i have to switch it off and on a few times. this problem has always been on there way before i bought the mv1000
I thank you all for the help so far, but as a walker and not a driver, I use TomTom City Maps extensively. As both replies have mentioned TT3, I wonder if this maybe a better road to follow. But is TT3 not based on vehicular transport? How useful would it be for walking around Paris or London for instance?
I migrated to the m1000 because the detail of TTCM's was much improved over the Palm version, I would be dissapointed to have to resurect my Handsping Visor and GPS companion just to use this program. As TomTom City Maps no longer features on TT's website, I am struggling to get help.
The baud rate speed on my device is set to NMEA 0183v2 38400 on COM5

Belkin's BT GPS (Fortuna Clipon)

I have a BIG install problem with XDA II vs Belkin's Bluetooth GPS.
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Product_Id=164017
After installement I can not get it working.
I tried Belkin Navigation but also Tom Tom Navigation software.
Once I want to configure the com5 port XDA freezes, and I have to do a hard reset.
the XDAII specs
rom version 2.02.t1WWE
rom date 05/17/04
radio version 1.18.00
Protocol version; 1337.38
ExtROM version; n.a.
FYI;
also with the old specs;
rom version 1.60.00wwe
12/03/03
radio version 1.08.00
protecol ver; 1337.18
Extrom 1.60.44
it also freezes..
Anyone any clue??
I have the XDA II and the fortuna clp on and Tomtom Nav 3. All have worked flawlessly since I bought it a few months back.
The way I set the lot up was to:
Pair the device first.
Goto Start>Settings>System>GPS>GPS
Select NMEA 0183v2 38400
Select Bluetooth GPS Device
And then tick the blue box.
If the GPS has a a lock, with any luck you'll have location co-ordinates, then close the gps setting screen and fire up TomTom.
My friend recently lost the ability to connect to his Clip-On, and it mean full uninstall of TomTom and Unpair and deletion of the device from the bluetooth manager, and reinstall. That worked.
Let us know how you get on. On my XDA IIs I have it set to Bluetooth device on Com 6.
Txs
I will chck and let you know.

Navigon MobileNavigator 4.2 + Royaltek RBT-1000 GPS [solved]

Hello!
I am owner of a T-Mobile MDA Compact with Navigon MobileNavigator 4.2 and a Royaltek RBT-1000 Bluetooth GPS-Mouse.
The BT GPS Mouse works perfect with all programs like VirtualGPSce or other GPS programs.
But MN 4.2 means there is no GPS device although the blue led is blinking!
I tried all Baud rates without success.
I also tried to adjust the NMEA settings but also without success.
ROM version: 1.06.01 GER
radio version: 1.05.00
protocol version: 1337.39
ExtROM version: 1.06.130 GER
Has anybody ideas :?:
(Sry for my bad english)
Try this:
- Remove the BT GPS from your paired devices
- Go to Settings, System, Bluetooth Settings
- Verify that outbound COM port is activated
- Re-pair the BT GPS, after pairing you should receive a message saying that it supports the serial port profile, click on Yes to create a shortcut
- Start Navigon and configure it to use the outbound COM port at maximum speed
Let me know if this works
Cheers
thank you but i already tried this modus operandi.
without success
just a idea (well it worked for me but I use tomtom 5) select wired gps then select port 4 or 5
But MN 4.2 means there is no GPS device although the blue led is blinking!

I also tried to adjust the NMEA settings but also without success.

as far as i understand it has never worked so far? Unlike TomTom and many others MN needs both the VTG and GGA protocols. To cut it short, start the ppc software which came with your bt-1000 on ppc (with bt mouse connected), look for the page where the protocals are listed (with a drop-down field behind each) and make sure that behind both VTG AND GGA stands a value >=1.
OK --> bt mouse will deliver the selected protocols from now on and MN will work (as it does with my mdac/bt-1000 combo)
good luck!

Ok Quappo I tried this - also no success.
My Settings of the RBT-1000 are:
register Navigation:
----------------------------------------
NMEA Mode: YES SiRF Mode: NO
GGA: 1 GSV:5
GLL:0 RMC:1
GSA:1 VTG:1
Degraded Mode: YES
Elevation Mask (0~90 deg): 7.50
DOP Mask (1~50): Disabled
SBAS Mode: Disabled
----------------------------------------
Maybe its my ROM?
I use:
ROM version: 1.06.01 GER
radio version: 1.05.00
protocol version: 1337.39
ExtROM version: 1.06.130 GER
??
for everybody interested:
I finally solved the problem. I updated the ROM to 1.12.00 WWE with this description: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=23288&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25
now it works without problem.
Seems the offical German T-Mobile ROM-Update 1.06.01 GER sucks!
Well done T-Mobile

Vodafone V1620 -Keeps Losing Bluetooth headset

Help - I have both a Qtek 9090 and a Vodafone V1620 which I use a Jabra BT250V Bluetooth headset with. I have been using all day and then all of a sudden the Bluetooth will disconnect and I can not Longer connect my headset to the PDA.
I have tried a soft reset, unpairing the headset and recreating it but nothing seems to work.
Also I have a collegue who also is having a problem where he can hear the person on the phone but they cannot hear him.
here is the Device information for both devices
Vodafone V1620
Rom Version: 1.31.00 WWE
Rom Date: 12/13/04
Radio Version: 1.12.00
Protocol Version: 1337.42
ExtRom Version: 1.31.175 WWE
Qtek 9090
Rom Version: 1.40.00 WWE
Rom Date: 03/10/05
Radio Version: 1.12.00
Protocol Version: 1337.42
ExtRom Version: 1.40.147 WWE
Does anybody have any ideas if this is the PDA's or the headsets
I just recently bought the Jabra BT250v.
The experience is that it is not as good as the previous model BT250 / BT258.
Everytime after softreset, the connection will disconect even the BT icon (not headset icon) is there.
You then have to disable the bluetooth connection and enable it to get the connection back....(softreset is not required though cause u have already done...)
Hope this help..
Cheers,
Just to clarify, is your device (v1620) a Universal? Isn't it supposed to be the v1640? Here in spain it's called the v1640 but not sure from where you are.
If it is a Universal, pls post your POWER settings when running on Battery.
I have a MDA Pro with a benq-siemens BT headset and am having the same problems. My MDA seems to switch off BT after a call.
my power settings are that the phone shuts off when not used for 3 minutes. Does anybody have a solution?
