Creating A Settings CAB?? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi. I Would Just like To Know How To Create A Cab File That Had All The Settings I Used On My Phone.
I Just Upgraded The Firmware On My TyTN To The AT&T AKU 3.3 Rom And Being From The UK This Ment I Had A Lot Of Information To Change In Order To Get My GPRS,WAP,MMS,E-Mails And Keyboard Layout To Work Again. It Would Have Been Really Handy If I Had Had A Cab File Wich Would Have Added All That Data For Me.
So I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Knew How To Do That.
Cheers

I don't think that's possible.
Even if it was possible, you could have lose some settings when upgrading, because registry keys' locations might have changed.

i love you developer guys :)

hi ppl!
i just passed by to say a BIG THANK YOU.
now i have something else to play around with. *gg*
but to stay serious:
i just flashed my T-Mobile MDA from austria, and am now looking for a way to include auto config for GPRS ect for T-Mobile Austria.
any ideas? sorry i didn't read ALL the topics in every forum so maybe i missed it.
kind regards,
izeman
Download the 'mkrom' set of files and look in the operator directory. Create a working setup, extract the registry keys listed in the file for one of the other operators and put those in a file in the same way.
Adapt the (binary) operator index file and recompile the ROM.
We hope to make this easier in future, and we're working on some mass-import from a list of providers and settings we've got.
thanks for the speedy reply....
can i send my changes somewhere so they can be included in future versions? (to make things easier for those who might follow)
regards izeman

Yes please. This goes for everyone: If you make AutoConfig work for your operator, we'll include the provider registry settings in our next ROM.

ROMs available from the FTP site attached to this forum. You need to do a bit of digging and use the search function.
thank you very much! i will look for it
I wouldn't recommend to flash the entire ROM just to get a different skin. If the flashing goes wrong, T-mobile will not provide any help (guarantee wise). It's not worth the risk.
I'm not the big expert here, but there must be a way to change it without flashing a new rom...
Most parts of the skins (nearly all?) are bitmaps in the windows directory. Store new ones and your Magician gets a new look. A problem could be that in the windows directory RAM and ROM are merged. A ROM file can not be erased but you can store a file under the same name in RAM. The original file in ROM will not be visible and used anymore as long as the file in RAM exists.
In my Magician the brandings are installed in RAM (from the extendedROM), so I can replace them. If I just delete them I get the original skins from MS stored in ROM.
If you have the IntelliDialer you have to notice that it is installed in RAM (from the extendedROM) so only deleting its files does not work (there are no others).
I do not know how O2 integrates its skins but I think they will use the same way as t-mobile so taking O2s (bitmap) files and copy them to your device should work. (Make a backup before to be save)
Hope that hepls a little bit
Joe
If you haven't already fixed your problem, here is the O2 splashcreen CAB.
Just copy it to your my documents and run it from there.
That removes the T-Mobile startup screen.
Then you can just do a search on these forums for some skins for the intellidialler and intellipad. I have a nice Apple based one that I found in a post on these forums.

Cab Request for you Cab-creating wizards!!

is there a way someone could creat a .cab that would automatically change the page pool size for the T-mobile wing? because i tried to do it manually and bricked the mess out of my phone...It wouldnt even charge... if you could that would be awesome! If you could you will be famous and solve the problem for wing users worldwide!!! Thanks!!
Try this thread.
It's one of those thread when Herald/Wing was fresh on the market.
It should be useful to you.
From my understanding you can't change the pagepool by installing a CAB.
You need to make those changes to the ROM by flashing.
I might be wrong but from what I used to know about pagepool changing it doesn't work like you ant it to be.
zcink maybe can jump in on this topic as he always changes his pagepool.

REQ: Original Touch Keypad/Keyboard in native language?

Hi
This question has been asked a couple of times, but I haven't found any good answers.
Is it possible to change language layout by registry only? or does one have to make a cab for it with specific dll's?
if so, can someone explain which files and how to do it?
I wanna have a swedish layout, and I am quite sure that there are other layouts that can be fixed as well. Just like Schap did with TyTN and TyTN II hardware keyboard.
Advanced Configuration Tool by Schap
Advanced Configuration Tool by Schap is supposed to do this from the settings which should change the registry, but it is not working for me, at least not with Asergs ROM.
I would also be interested in this....
Thanks in advance.

not quite right, Schaps tool for changing language is only for hardware keyboard. not the SIP.

Best way to upgrade from a ROM version to another without loosing settings?

Hi,
What is the best way to upgrade from the version of a custom ROM to another version without loosing the settings?
Actually I use SPB Backup, but I am not sure that it does not rewrite some new setting of the new version of the ROM, because SBP Backup save all.
I saw in many post the use of cab, but how create a cab with my personal settings, because I don't know where all my settings are (when you use some tweak app, you didn't know what was modified).
And the last question, is it not possible for guys (thank to them ), who made all these custom ROM, to create a cab to update a ROM to the last version?
Thanks to help me.
PS: sorry for my english, I am french.
