Currently the keyboard light on my dopod 838 pro turns on when low light is detected automatically.
How would i over ride that so i can turn it on at my request??
P.
You can either turns on by automatically or you can turn off that feature. If you turn it off, then the keyboard will light whenever you slide the phone. There might be registry fix. Not sure.
feature? Is there a feature were everytime i open the slide the light turns on? wahh

I have just performed a hard reset, and installed the latest ROM from O2. I did the basic install option.
The keylight does not work, and never has worked.... I have enabled the keylight in the settings menu, the option "enable keyborad backlight sensor".
Still no light.... do I have to turn on som other menu option or change something in the registry? Or is it just a software error? Everything else works just fine on the device.
It is just a minor fault, but I want that cool blue keyboard backlight....
It does have to be uber-dark for it to activate. Have you tried putting your finger over the sensor whilst pressing a key?
Failing that, take it back
where is the light sensor as my exec keyboard light apears not to work either and it was only deliivered yesterday!

Yep, it worked, but only when it is dark as the grave.
The button to switch it on, does not! But I'll manage, as it turns itself on when any key is pressed.
Is there any registry tweak I can do to make that sensor work even if it is not pitch black?

Enable backlight button in HTC Universal
This trick permit you to enable the backlight button in HTC Universal devices (Qtek 9000, I-mate JasJar, XDA Exec, Dopod 900…).
http://www.pocketpceurope.eu/downloads/Backlight_key.rar
Without installing anything, if you disable the sensor in buttons settings, the keyboard will always light up when you press any key in any light condition.

The light button on the device is just for the backlight for the screen, not the keyboard

Hello I'm having some problems with my Htc Hermes (I-MAte JASJAM)'s hardware keyboard backlight problem.
whenever i open the keyboard it lights up and when i press a key it goes off (weather its dark or not)
I have tried to uncheck / check the light sensor option in the settings but it didnt help.
I dont want to hard reset could you provide me with default keys which are in
HKEY_LOCAL_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight
Thank you
this seems to be exactly what im after. i am aware that this is an old thread but i am after the settings for the backlight registry as above.
my backlight seems to flicker on and off as im typing, which is rather concerning and irritating. any help would be great.

There is a "light sensor" setting? I looked everywhere for it but can't find. I would want my keyboard backlight on 100% of the time if my Hermes is slid open...if there's some way to jury rig that feature, I'd be pretty psyched. Somebody help!
Is there anyway that the power & backlight will automatically turn on when I slide the keyboard open?
I came on here looking for a solution to the same thing. I haven't been able to find anything as of yet.

Mine does not have that check box. The only thing I see is:
"Turn off backlight if devise is not used for [pull-down box]"
Hi all!
as you might have noticed, the device does not respond to screen tap/button push while backlight is turned off, the first action turns the backlight on and you have to repeat it to make the device do what you want...
Is there any way to let it respond to each action while backlight ist turned off?
Many thanks and sorry for my english
So far there is no solution..i posted this a while ago too.
I just turned backlight dimming of...it was to annoying.

Honestly I'm deeply grateful for this option!!!
I can always turn on/off the light with powerbutton.
Often I want to put the back light on WITHOUT any change on the screen (like reading ebook when screen-press makes page change). So I just love it how it is.
The problem is that it isnt an option
Actually i do not have a problem with it, i ask here fore smb who has a program, where keeping backlight on doesnt work properly so this option make some problems,
i would love this on fs loox 560, but since xperia cant turn the backlight completely off and i can see everything without turning backlight on and i just dont need it anymore
Thank you two for your replies
Actually you can touch your camera button first to bring the backlight back/prevent backlight fade, then click what you want to do
Hm... It doen't bother me at all. I even like it.
fellows, does anyone know how to turn on the evo's SOFT KEYS BACKLIGHT ON on Cyanogenmod 6 stable rom?mine is always off..please

LEDs Hack...in the market
They come on when its dark.
Since were talking about it is there a program that'll keep the soft key leds OFF? The light leakage is ridiculous.
All spelling errors thanks to xt9 on my Evo!
LEDs Hack is a great app for turning them off. I don't think it can force them on if they're not already set to be on.

go to setting, then select display then turn off automatic brightness..should work..otherwise they will turn on themselves when its dark.
CYANIZeD eVO!
Thanks. That worked.
Actually, you don't have to turn off auto brightness. Go to Settings -> CM settings -> Display -> Auto backlight. Check "Use custom" under light levels. Then go to Edit other levels and set all the values for "Buttons" to 255. Be sure to click "Save & apply" at the top. This should result in the button lights turning on regardless of ambient light. Of course, you can also tweak it however you want here.
